Who: lan wangji, wei wuxian, family, friends, anyone looking for free food and booze, and you
When: july 31st
Where: wangxian cottage yard
What: a wedding~
Warnings: will add if needed.
[pre-ceremony]
[the day's finally come, bright and auspicious according to the fortune-teller. betrothal gifts have been exchanged earlier in the month, and now the back yard attached to the wangxian cottage has been transformed from a place of peaceful seclusion to one meant for celebration and receiving guests.
but there is still plenty to do for anyone who volunteered to show up early and help: tables that need to be moved into place, chairs that need to be set up. the couple's winged bunnies will be there to assist, nibbling on red and gold cards or flying through the air with streaming pale blue and bright red ribbons to be attached to things.
there's also boxes of noisemakers to be placed on the table - small drums and flutes and party poppers, all for chasing away bad luck. there's even a few small fireworks, just in case any lingering summer pixies are looking for something to set on fire.]
[ceremony]
[the reason for the day. it's rare to see wei wuxian and lan wangji out of their usual colors, but no one can deny that they look good in red. lan wanji in red robes and a red forehead ribbon, wei wuxian in red robes and a red veil, long black ears poking through. the ceremony itself consists of various little rituals. they make their bows - to heaven and to earth, to their parents, and to each other. finally, each cuts a lock of his own hair and knots them together, sealing them up in a little pouch. the two of them have been one for awhile now, but now it's official. now no one can say otherwise.
all of this is done in front of hiccup - chief hiccup, overseeing all of the rituals that wei wuxian explained to him and adding even more legitimacy to the union.
it ends on a less solemn note, with the two exchanging smiles and laughter, and wei wuxian predictively jumping into his new husband's arms.]
[games]
[considering whose wedding it is...a puca's wedding, naturally games should be expected. guests are invited to initiate and share their own favorites, so let aefenglom's limbo champion be decided here and now.
there are drinking games and dice games, and one somewhat dangerous game that involves a blindfolded wei wuxian receiving kisses on the cheek from various guests, and "attempting" to guess which kiss came from his husband.
music and dancing are equally welcome, so pull your date close or get to know someone new.]
[banquet]
[the feast begins, and if both grooms seem to be missing by this point, well, that just leaves more food for the guests! red remains a common theme in dishes, along with roast pork and fish. there are soups, with the pork rib and lotus root having its own place of honor. it goes without saying that jiang yanli's cooking is the best, and therefore the first to disappear from the tables.
there's also plenty of vegetarian dishes and desserts, tea and alcohol in equal measure. eat, drink and be merry well into the night. the noise just might cover up a pair of very happy newlyweds.]
(ooc: this is an open catch-all log for lan wangji and wei wuxian's wedding, which the latter publically invited every mirrorbound to. feel free to top level and tag around! tagging the grooms not required, just have fun!)

if anyone manages to catch his attention long enough for a conversation, lan wangji can sometimes be found near the tall gingko tree in the middle of the yard, tending to his bunnies. he’ll also be playing the guqin for their guests, if requested, and will sometimes stand near the banquet table or sit, nibbling on food, or drinking tea. mostly he’ll be by wei wuxian’s side, but it’s entirely possible to catch a moment alone with him; just don’t try to kiss his cheek or give him alcohol.....
...........unless?? )

A-Zhan, one moment..! I would have left it with the other gifts, but... [ the stitch-bound book she pulls from her skirt pocket is obviously newly-made, the covers a pale, uneven blue. handwritten in a neat, flowing hand is the phrase With love water is enough; without love food doesn't satisfy and a somewhat awkwardly drawn nine-petal lotus amidst clouds. the pages are cramped with ingredients and instructions, including little sketches and notes where parts might need to be substituted for the sake of a puca's stomach. ]
It doesn't look like much, I'm afraid, but it has all the recipes I could recall.

At some point during the celebration, Wei Wuxian steals Jiang Yanli away for a dance with his shijie, and Jin Zixuan, cup of wine in hand, goes to sit by Lan Wangji at the head table. There's an awkward lingering silence for a long minute-- Jin Zixuan has never quite known how to behave around someone so austere as Lan Wangji-- but finally, he clears his throat, takes a sip of wine, and manages to say: ]
Well. Welcome to the family.

wei wuxian falls to his knees beside him, heart pounding a little faster every time he looks at him in the red robes. his husband. it makes his breath catch every time, and he gazes at him for a moment longer before wrapping his arms around him, pressing kisses along his jawline, up to his ear, sure to cover him in kisses before the night is done.]

She'd mainly spoken to Wei Wuxian before, but it didn't seem right only speaking to one groom. So she slowly dithers over, hesitating slightly. The ceremony was very different from the ones she knew back home. Not that the fae had actually been to many. But she does get close enough, giving a small nod. wei wuxian | ota
[maybe he should be more nervous. wei wuxian is definitely excited. their day is finally here, and for once he rises early to prepare for it.
the first thing that he does is grab his watch and shoot a text to literally everyone he knows:]
ready to make lan zhan the happiest and most exhausted man in aefenglom!
[take that as innocently or as suggestively as you will. no one can say that being married to wei wuxian wouldn't be, at times, utterly exhausting. attached is a picture of him from the chest up, his red under robes more sepia-toned in the picture. after a while he takes to the roof with one of the rabbits and a bottle of booze, stretching out on his side and calling down to guests and helpers alike.]
It's my last day as a single man! Come and have a drink with me!
[games/dancing]
Sure, sure, I promise I won't peek.
[wei wuxian smirks, red blindfold firmly in place. as if he would need to cheat. as if the shape and softness of those lips aren't already imprinted on his heart. still, it's kind of fun to feel the edge of his jealousy through their bond.
he tilts his head at the peck against his cheek, pretending to consider anyway.]
Hmm...I know, it's definitely Lan Zhan this time!
[...on second thought, maybe dancing is safer for everyone. he makes the rounds while the love of his life is sobering from one swallow of alcohol, tapping gently on the shoulder.]

OTA + photos!
[Prompto is busy with the pre-ceremony stuff, as he's the photographer and he's got to get space set up for the photos while also not getting in the way of other people. At some point, he calls out:]
If you're in the wedding party, can I get you over here? I need photos of everyone before we start!
[He will also, at some point, slip away to go put his gifts near where the grooms'll be seated later.
Surely a bottle of very, very nice wine will be appreciated, yeah? As will a voucher for a couples' photo shoot?]
Games and Food and Photos
[Most of the time, Prompto will be standing with his camera ready, taking photos of anyone who's willing to pay a little or of the party itself.
At some point though, he gets talked into having some fun, so he can be found...honestly at the food, for the most part, since he doesn't like to dance by himself and playing "Kiss Wuxian and See if He Knows Who Did It" seems like a bad idea. Maybe you can talk him into playing something?]

Sae @ everywhere ota
[SHe wonders if it’s possible for her to be this anxious for other people. If it was Yae’s wedding, she suspects she would be going out of her Mind while Yae sat with the the demure grace and calmness Sae knew her for.
And though this isn’t Yae’s wedding, Sae is going out of her mind wanting to make sure everything’s perfect. Wei Wuxian’s done a lot for her, after all, so she wants to return some of the favor there.
So she’s running to and fro, hardly taking the chance to rest for longer than a few seconds. She’s trying to tie some streamers at an area above the doorway, balancing precariously on a chair and reaching as high as she can...
Yeah it doesn’t go well. She leans too far and there’s a ripping noise of these treaters followed by a high-pitched yelp as she plummets. RIP.]
[B. Post-Ceremony]
[Nervous, Sae keeps her eyes downcast as she wrings her hands before she sets them on the koto to play as background music for everyone. She’s been practicing for hours ever since she got the idea to do it—Yae, she insisted, had always been better than her at music, but Sae had enjoyed it. And she enjoys playing now, even if her entire body seems to radiate with nervous energy the entire time.
But in the end she seems quite pleased when the notes taper off and she heaves a breath, sinking back in her seat to relax.]
[C. Fun & Games]
[She has no idea how to play most of these games, but she likes watching others play and have fun. She seems content to linger on the edges and observe, not wanting to make a fool of herself by attempting something when she has no idea what to do.
Still, it makes her giggle, commenting pleasantly to whoever’s near-by] Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves... Wuxian-nii and Wangji-nii will be happy. It all looks like fun.
[D. Banquet]
[It’s definitely not her job to do so, but Sae’s been once again running around like a chicken with its head cut off, making sure everyone’s drinks are refilled and that everyone’s gotten food.
She looks a little pale, her smile a bit strained as she approaches people.]
Did you get enough? If you want a refill of something, I could get it for you?
[...Has Sae even bothered to get anything to eat this whole time?? Debatable.]

momo | ota
[Momo is happy to lend his strength to a party setup, especially for something like this, so he can be found before the party moving tables back and forth for the most part. Except he keeps just slinging them over his back, so one might have to be cautious to avoid stray table legs if they want to approach him.
Of course, the idea that anyone might approach him to help out doesn't seem to occur to him, and he gives a grin and a questioning little tilt of the head to anyone who comes near.]
Do you need something? [Other than a table.]
--
[b: games]
[While drinking games would suit Momo just fine, he also dragged Yuki along and he doesn't really want to curse his partner with having to coax his blackout drunk self home. He's a heavyweight, but so is probably anyone who takes part in a drinking contest at a party like this and it's probably not the time to risk it.
That said, his competitive athletic self can't pass up the limbo competition. The combination of flexibility and strength from his job and tough workout regimen means he gets deep into the round very quickly, and anyone who still happens to be leftover when he comes back around from another successful pass will get a wink and a tongue poked out at them.]
They should hold these more often, it's more fun when there's people to challenge! [He misses sports club, honestly.]
--
[c: banquet]
[Momo is definitely raiding all the meat dishes immediately, but he's grateful for the presence of vegetarian options because there's been one too many parties back home where Yuki's had to wallflower the buffet table due to lack of vegetarian food. While he does spend time with his partner on and off, Momo is innately the kind of person who weaves through a party and gets people talking or drinking and that kind of energy can be hard to keep up with. So there are also times he wanders alone around the banquet table like a hunter, pouring or refilling people's alcoholic drinks (from one of the table bottles, so it's not too shady) if he's already seen them drinking or otherwise offering them something they seemed to have been eying off at the food table.]
Come on, have some more! If there's any time to be excessive, it's a wedding! [He's drunk a fair bit himself, but on him it's only really enough to make him extra exuberant...if anyone can tell the difference.]

Jiang Cheng | OTA
[Jiang Cheng had arrived actually early to the ceremony rather than right on time. Not really because he intended to help set up - he was standing around though so someone could try to rope him into it.
No, his intended reason was to try and keep track of WuXian and keep him from embarrassing himself before the ceremony. He had always been a bit... impulsive with his ideas and technically the sibling should be helping to keep track of the "bride" before the wedding.
So here he was]
Games/Dance
[Why was he really not surprised that a drinking game would have been a part of WuXian's wedding? He shouldn't have been.
But he did decide to partake in the games of dice, sitting down at the table to play with whoever would want to play with him. It was about the only game that WuXian had arranged that appealed to him.
As the music and the dancing started, he couldn't help watching the others dancing even though he wasn't out on the floor]
Banquet
[He did notice that the two guests of honor were missing now, but he would enjoy the food none-the-less. It was free for him so why not. Of course, his first choice to eat was the pork rib and lotus soup. Even if those from their world didn't know about it, he did and he would never pass up the chance to have Jie's soup.
The fact that he had been unable for days while she had been making it had been hard...]

OTA | Lan Xichen sobbing throughout the entire event
[Lan Xichen can't stay away. He loves his brother and would never want to be offensive, but he also won't disappoint his family by failing to show up. It does take a little nudging from all around, but eventually he is convinced that this is the right decision. After all, he won't get another chance to see the two married formally.
Before the ceremony, he's in the back yard, spoiling some of the winged bunnies he's gotten to know and helping them attach ribbons around just to ease his own nerves. When he sees anyone else, he smiles and approaches them.]
It's beautiful. They have done so well.
[Don't cry, Xichen. Not yet.]
[ceremony]
[Well, he held on the best he could for the better part of the day, but he can't remain stoic and politely quiet once the rituals are truly under way. By the time the couple is binding themselves together with locks of their hair, he's already got a stream of tears running down his face. He tries to remain composed, but that is a fight he's very swiftly losing.]
[banquet]
[The food is naturally impressive and Lan Xichen mostly just takes in the sight of it, only really having tea at first and unable to bring himself to eat. There's too much excitement and too many emotions. With everyone else eating and doing various things, the joy is contagious. Although he can't help but notice the two missing men of the day as the feast goes on. Looking around, he has an idea of where they might have disappeared to and tries not to look embarrassed, concentrating on his tea.]
