[open]

Who: lan wangji, wei wuxian, family, friends, anyone looking for free food and booze, and you
When: july 31st
Where: wangxian cottage yard
What: a wedding~
Warnings: will add if needed.

[pre-ceremony]

[the day's finally come, bright and auspicious according to the fortune-teller. betrothal gifts have been exchanged earlier in the month, and now the back yard attached to the wangxian cottage has been transformed from a place of peaceful seclusion to one meant for celebration and receiving guests.

but there is still plenty to do for anyone who volunteered to show up early and help: tables that need to be moved into place, chairs that need to be set up. the couple's winged bunnies will be there to assist, nibbling on red and gold cards or flying through the air with streaming pale blue and bright red ribbons to be attached to things.

there's also boxes of noisemakers to be placed on the table - small drums and flutes and party poppers, all for chasing away bad luck. there's even a few small fireworks, just in case any lingering summer pixies are looking for something to set on fire.]

[ceremony]

[the reason for the day. it's rare to see wei wuxian and lan wangji out of their usual colors, but no one can deny that they look good in red. lan wanji in red robes and a red forehead ribbon, wei wuxian in red robes and a red veil, long black ears poking through. the ceremony itself consists of various little rituals. they make their bows - to heaven and to earth, to their parents, and to each other. finally, each cuts a lock of his own hair and knots them together, sealing them up in a little pouch. the two of them have been one for awhile now, but now it's official. now no one can say otherwise.

all of this is done in front of hiccup - chief hiccup, overseeing all of the rituals that wei wuxian explained to him and adding even more legitimacy to the union.

it ends on a less solemn note, with the two exchanging smiles and laughter, and wei wuxian predictively jumping into his new husband's arms.]

[games]

[considering whose wedding it is...a puca's wedding, naturally games should be expected. guests are invited to initiate and share their own favorites, so let aefenglom's limbo champion be decided here and now.

there are drinking games and dice games, and one somewhat dangerous game that involves a blindfolded wei wuxian receiving kisses on the cheek from various guests, and "attempting" to guess which kiss came from his husband.

music and dancing are equally welcome, so pull your date close or get to know someone new.]

[banquet]

[the feast begins, and if both grooms seem to be missing by this point, well, that just leaves more food for the guests! red remains a common theme in dishes, along with roast pork and fish. there are soups, with the pork rib and lotus root having its own place of honor. it goes without saying that jiang yanli's cooking is the best, and therefore the first to disappear from the tables.

there's also plenty of vegetarian dishes and desserts, tea and alcohol in equal measure. eat, drink and be merry well into the night. the noise just might cover up a pair of very happy newlyweds.]

(ooc: this is an open catch-all log for lan wangji and wei wuxian's wedding, which the latter publically invited every mirrorbound to. feel free to top level and tag around! tagging the grooms not required, just have fun!)

[What else would a sect leader do but lecture his long-lost shixiong on his wedding day? It just showed that he actually cared enough to say the words]

So you'll still be drinking?

You could drink tea like your future husband's family would.

[WuXian... so dramatic. But then again, Jiang Cheng is not one to talk]

So what? You're going to get him to drink then?

[And now he does join WuXian up on the roof. Since you're just going to keep yelling down at him otherwise]

I can't say that I have had the pleasure of that.

[The closest was when Jin Zixun had been insulting the Lans and trying to get them to drink and WuXian had swooped in to take the cup]

So... HanGuang-Jun can't handle alcohol? It's not just that they won't?

[He was oddly curious about this. Like it would ever do him much good to know other than his own personal interest]

I remember the three of drinking and being interrupted by HanGuang-Jun.

[Though not HanGuang-Jun at that point. Just WangJi. That had been so long ago...

He sat down on the roof with WuXian and took the offered cup]

Was he? He really can't handle his alcohol. He wouldn't have lasted in Yunmeng Jiang.

[At least as a teenager]

[Jiang Cheng didn't down his drink as quickly as WuXian, but he was still drinking it, slowly]

He wouldn't have lasted five minutes if he had been training with us. We would have driven him mad with everything we did that he didn't.

And if he had? What then?

[As WuXian swooped his cup in to clink it to his, Jiang Cheng held it out so that he would be able to easier rather than pulling it away]

I'd heard he was good at archery, but I never saw it. I doubt Master Lan would have allowed his nephew to not learn one of the noble arts.

[Jiang Cheng was just going to stare at him incredulously for a moment because seriously, when was Lan WangJi bad at anything? It was part of what had frustrated him so for many years among other things, but then another thought crosses his mind and it at least keeps him from having to admit that first thought out loud]

Here you are on your wedding day, about to get married, and you are suggesting that your future husband is bad at something? Isn't it a wife's duty to stand by their husband and not demean his abilities in the eyes of others?

[Well... it was true even if this wasn't traditional and he didn't have to admit that first thought.

But right before he took a sip of his drink, there was a definite smirk on his face]

[He was literally about to argue that he hadn't meant WangJi was actually bad at something but that it was more uncouth that he made a negative comment about it.

But then he added that other part, that he could say it but wouldn't let others say the same thing]

Hmm... I suppose that is acceptable then if you don't let others say the same thing. There is a point where a wife should try to better her husband.

[He was half-tempted to say something to comment of him not being perfect because as his brother, he was allowed to pick on him. But... how could he really say that he wasn't when the man in front of him had selflessly given his golden core to him, despite...

No, that wasn't something to say. Especially right now. This was the worst time]

I'm sure the two of you will be happy together.

[Jiang Cheng might deny that there was hope for them, simply because he was that way even though he didn't really know for sure. But he had seen many times in his life how WangJi had stepped in to protect WuXian, the way WuXian smiled at WangJi. He had perhaps been worried about that; WuXian had been supposed to be his right-hand man.

Jiang Cheng took a sip of his drink before suddenly having to move it as WuXian suddenly launched himself at him.

So ridiculous]

I can always bribe WangJi to let him have you.

[A semi-traditional gate-crashing ceremony]
