Who: lan wangji, wei wuxian, family, friends, anyone looking for free food and booze, and you
When: july 31st
Where: wangxian cottage yard
What: a wedding~
Warnings: will add if needed.
[pre-ceremony]
[the day's finally come, bright and auspicious according to the fortune-teller. betrothal gifts have been exchanged earlier in the month, and now the back yard attached to the wangxian cottage has been transformed from a place of peaceful seclusion to one meant for celebration and receiving guests.
but there is still plenty to do for anyone who volunteered to show up early and help: tables that need to be moved into place, chairs that need to be set up. the couple's winged bunnies will be there to assist, nibbling on red and gold cards or flying through the air with streaming pale blue and bright red ribbons to be attached to things.
there's also boxes of noisemakers to be placed on the table - small drums and flutes and party poppers, all for chasing away bad luck. there's even a few small fireworks, just in case any lingering summer pixies are looking for something to set on fire.]
[ceremony]
[the reason for the day. it's rare to see wei wuxian and lan wangji out of their usual colors, but no one can deny that they look good in red. lan wanji in red robes and a red forehead ribbon, wei wuxian in red robes and a red veil, long black ears poking through. the ceremony itself consists of various little rituals. they make their bows - to heaven and to earth, to their parents, and to each other. finally, each cuts a lock of his own hair and knots them together, sealing them up in a little pouch. the two of them have been one for awhile now, but now it's official. now no one can say otherwise.
all of this is done in front of hiccup - chief hiccup, overseeing all of the rituals that wei wuxian explained to him and adding even more legitimacy to the union.
it ends on a less solemn note, with the two exchanging smiles and laughter, and wei wuxian predictively jumping into his new husband's arms.]
[games]
[considering whose wedding it is...a puca's wedding, naturally games should be expected. guests are invited to initiate and share their own favorites, so let aefenglom's limbo champion be decided here and now.
there are drinking games and dice games, and one somewhat dangerous game that involves a blindfolded wei wuxian receiving kisses on the cheek from various guests, and "attempting" to guess which kiss came from his husband.
music and dancing are equally welcome, so pull your date close or get to know someone new.]
[banquet]
[the feast begins, and if both grooms seem to be missing by this point, well, that just leaves more food for the guests! red remains a common theme in dishes, along with roast pork and fish. there are soups, with the pork rib and lotus root having its own place of honor. it goes without saying that jiang yanli's cooking is the best, and therefore the first to disappear from the tables.
there's also plenty of vegetarian dishes and desserts, tea and alcohol in equal measure. eat, drink and be merry well into the night. the noise just might cover up a pair of very happy newlyweds.]
(ooc: this is an open catch-all log for lan wangji and wei wuxian's wedding, which the latter publically invited every mirrorbound to. feel free to top level and tag around! tagging the grooms not required, just have fun!)

[but if anything, something that she made herself is even more touching. and wei wuxian is also more curious to see it. he takes the folder with lifted eyebrows and flips it open, one last glance given to her before his eyes land on the map of lotus pier.
it's like he's suddenly back home again. his breath catches at the detail, so accurate that it's like the map transports him. he can almost feel the water around him and the sun on his shoulders. his craving for lotus seeds is instant.
it's the same with the cloud recesses one, the water turning colder at the cold bond, the bunnies hopping right in front of his eyes. wei wuxian takes his time studying each one of them, but the awe on his face hasn't dimmed when he finally does lift his head.]
Have you been there?
[it doesn't make sense to him otherwise, they're that good.]

laughing, she shakes her head. ]
No, of course not! But I talked to those who have. It turns out... people are happy to talk about places they love.
[ and why wouldn't they be? most of them here... they all miss their homes, no matter how happy here some of them are.
she tucks a stray curl behind her ear, sighing. ] It's always nice to have a piece of home with you, right? ... I hope your husband will like those, too.

[his family and lan zhan's family. wei wuxian's eyes look wet and shiny at hearing it. it makes the gift even more precious, like it holds a piece of them all. he nods while his eyes returning to the parchment once more.]
I didn't realize just how much I missed it. [he hasn't been home, truly home for so long. jiang cheng was yunmeng's sect leader, and he hadn't exactly felt welcome there after all that happened. but just as things are slowly getting better with his brother, wei wuxian is realizing more and more how lotus pier has and will always be a part of him.] Oh, Lan Zhan will love them even more. [if that's even possible. but he's always had an appreciation for things like fine craftmanship and detail. he's sure to be impressed.]
Thank you, Nami. You didn't have to, but I'm grateful that you did. [and there is his smile, bright and pure, without an ounce mischief behind it.
it lasts for about ten seconds.]
Do I hug you, or would that bother Jiang Cheng?
1/2
though, ]
Yes... it often takes you by surprise, doesn't it? Missing home.
[ every time she goes to the harbor, smells the sea, hears the waves... she misses the sunny, misses the crew.
at his sincere thanks, she too smiles sincerely. ]
Shush! Everyone deserves something nice on their wedding day. Congratulations. [ she means it, too... and from what she's seen, she's sure the marriage will be a very happy one. ]

[ look they've met like three times before this! ] We came together because he needed a date and I was going to attend anyway! [ and so that he could lord having a date over his brother after the stupid post. that may have been the primary reason behind her idea. ] He's hardly going to care if I hug someone... besides, as if I'd let anyone tell me what to do!
[ as if in protest, she promptly drags wei wuxian into a hug. ]
no subject
wei wuxian thinks that's a good thing.]
re you sure you're not a Lan? [it felt like there was some arm strength in that angry hug. wei wuxian chuckles as he leans back.] I was happy that you agreed to come with him. Jiang Cheng is an honorable man.
no subject
[ she doesn't really get how it concerns him or why he'd be happy about it, but... whatever! ]
I know that! Do you think I'd agree to be just anyone's date? No way! He's by far the best one out of all of your lot. [ she waves her hand to indicate the cultivators at large, not just wei wuxian. ]
Back home, men are usually either idiots who don't really care about people's gender, or idiots who are perverts. It's a nice change to meet someone who treats me like a person but doesn't forget that I'm a girl.
