Who: lan wangji, wei wuxian, family, friends, anyone looking for free food and booze, and you
When: july 31st
Where: wangxian cottage yard
What: a wedding~
Warnings: will add if needed.
[pre-ceremony]
[the day's finally come, bright and auspicious according to the fortune-teller. betrothal gifts have been exchanged earlier in the month, and now the back yard attached to the wangxian cottage has been transformed from a place of peaceful seclusion to one meant for celebration and receiving guests.
but there is still plenty to do for anyone who volunteered to show up early and help: tables that need to be moved into place, chairs that need to be set up. the couple's winged bunnies will be there to assist, nibbling on red and gold cards or flying through the air with streaming pale blue and bright red ribbons to be attached to things.
there's also boxes of noisemakers to be placed on the table - small drums and flutes and party poppers, all for chasing away bad luck. there's even a few small fireworks, just in case any lingering summer pixies are looking for something to set on fire.]
[ceremony]
[the reason for the day. it's rare to see wei wuxian and lan wangji out of their usual colors, but no one can deny that they look good in red. lan wanji in red robes and a red forehead ribbon, wei wuxian in red robes and a red veil, long black ears poking through. the ceremony itself consists of various little rituals. they make their bows - to heaven and to earth, to their parents, and to each other. finally, each cuts a lock of his own hair and knots them together, sealing them up in a little pouch. the two of them have been one for awhile now, but now it's official. now no one can say otherwise.
all of this is done in front of hiccup - chief hiccup, overseeing all of the rituals that wei wuxian explained to him and adding even more legitimacy to the union.
it ends on a less solemn note, with the two exchanging smiles and laughter, and wei wuxian predictively jumping into his new husband's arms.]
[games]
[considering whose wedding it is...a puca's wedding, naturally games should be expected. guests are invited to initiate and share their own favorites, so let aefenglom's limbo champion be decided here and now.
there are drinking games and dice games, and one somewhat dangerous game that involves a blindfolded wei wuxian receiving kisses on the cheek from various guests, and "attempting" to guess which kiss came from his husband.
music and dancing are equally welcome, so pull your date close or get to know someone new.]
[banquet]
[the feast begins, and if both grooms seem to be missing by this point, well, that just leaves more food for the guests! red remains a common theme in dishes, along with roast pork and fish. there are soups, with the pork rib and lotus root having its own place of honor. it goes without saying that jiang yanli's cooking is the best, and therefore the first to disappear from the tables.
there's also plenty of vegetarian dishes and desserts, tea and alcohol in equal measure. eat, drink and be merry well into the night. the noise just might cover up a pair of very happy newlyweds.]
(ooc: this is an open catch-all log for lan wangji and wei wuxian's wedding, which the latter publically invited every mirrorbound to. feel free to top level and tag around! tagging the grooms not required, just have fun!)

I didn't scratch you, did I? [he tries to be careful with his claws. but there's another reason that he's looking at him curiously.] You're lighter than I thought you'd be.
no subject
They're definitely not, though. Just to be clear. ]
Lighter? [ He looks down at himself, wondering what it could mean, if he's losing weight. He still doesn't know what manner of monster he will turn into. ] Ah, no. No scratches.
[ The observation that he's lighter has opened up so many unanswerable questions in his mind... Questions that he would rather not think about. Best to start drinking and push the questions down for later perusal. ]
Pass that liquor, won't you? I came up here for a reason.
no subject
I guess it's Shijie's healthy cooking keeping you fit. Only hers is actually delicious.
[something that was never mastered at cloud recesses. wei wuxian starts to lift his cup again, pauses and lowers it to smirk.]
What, and not for the pleasure of my company? [but he does slide the jar closer before sitting up from his reclined position. there is another thing that they will soon have in common.] Were you nervous before your wedding?
no subject
That is true. I did get better food out of my marriage than you'll get out of yours.
[ He rolls his eyes again at Wei Wuxian's jab-- an ever growing habit now that the two of them are in closer proximity than they ever have been before. But his question makes Jin Zixuan think. He grabs the jar and takes a measured drink from it, feeling the burn of the alcohol as it goes down his throat, humming softly before he answers. ] The morning of my wedding was probably the most anxious I have ever been. But all of it was worth it when I lifted the veil and saw A-Li's smile.
no subject
I wish...
[he begins and trails off before grabbing the jar back to drown the rest of the sentence. it's obvious what he was about to say though: he wished he could've been there.
but it's in the past, unchangeable now. it's enough to know that she was happy.]
I didn't think I'd be nervous at all. Lan Zhan and I are boned, we've already been living as if we're married.
[but there's still a little bit of it in him, visible in a litle restless fidgeting, and the fact that he did need a drink even in the morning.]
I want to be a good husband to him.
no subject
You will be. [ He pauses, wondering if he really wants to go as far as to say what he is thinking. But then he concedes. ] You're not as bad as everyone says.
[ Quickly, before Wei Wuxian can get the wrong idea, he amends: ] You're still insufferable and crass, mind you, but...
[ He's not the root of all evil like the others liked to make him out to be. Especially not here, removed from all the context of their world.
Another pause, and then Jin Zixuan decides some things do need to be said after all. ]
We were trying to make up for it. By inviting you to A-Ling's one month. I'm sorry that... it didn't go as planned.
no subject
he wipes his chin, one corner of his mouth lifting into a smirk as the other man amends. but the mention of that day burns the mischief out of him, the memory sobering him no matter how much he drinks.]
Jin Zixuan...I'm truly sorry for everything that happened that day.
[in light of their civil conversation, wei wuxian hopes he'll believe him. even he was horrified to watch him fall, and he won't claim to be blameless even if it wasn't his tune that-
he lowers the jar from his lips, brows knitting together as he looks at the other man a little closer.]
Eh...about your brother. You know he's not coming today, right?
no subject
It hasn't happened yet. Not for me. I know it will happen, as soon as I leave this world, but... [ He reaches over and grabs the jar of alcohol. ] Let's just hope that doesn't happen any time soon.
[ He sips from the jar, going on to listen to what Wei Wuxian has to say. He raises an eyebrow briefly, somewhat surprised. ]
I thought you had invited all the Mirrorbound.
no subject
[and should the naga darken their door on what's meant to be the happiest day of their lives, even wei wuxian isn't sure he could stop him. he sighs...he definitely didn't bring enough alcohol to the roof for this.]
Have you spoken to your brother much at all since your arrival?
[not that he really expects there to have been any sort of confession.]
no subject
What... in heaven are you talking about? [ Sure, he knows Jin Guangyao isn't exactly the most likable person. His simpering need to insert himself anywhere that important goings on are happening and his overly polite smile which doesn't reach his eyes both annoy and unsettle Jin Zixuan. But Wei Wuxian also annoys and unsettles Jin Zixuan, and you don't see him making thinly veiled threats of violence! ]
He greeted us upon our entry to this world. Said something about how he was attempting to create a new life for himself here. I really don't see what the problem is.
no subject
[he still can't resist a snort with the words. the past can't be changed, and sometimes it's better to just leave it there. it's that attitude that keeps jin guangyao far from his thoughts most days. but he only died, he didn't suffer the way his husband did for all those years. lan zhan is much less forgiving.
right now, he sees the confusion in another jin's eyes, and sighs at the prospect of explaining it all.]
Jin Zixuan, a lot happened after that day. I died not long after, but I was eventually summoned back. While I was gone, many others had died- your father and Chifeng-zun included. Jin Guangyao was the leader of your Sect, and Chief Cultivator too. [all surprising news to be sure. but not the worst of it. he takes one more drink before setting his gaze on the other man.] Your brother must be a good swimmer. Otherwise he could've drowned in all the blood he spilled to get there.
no subject
The implication here is that it is not a coincidence. Not mere luck or blessed turns of fate which led Jin Guangyao to rise through the ranks of the Lanling Jin sect. Of course, with Jin Zixuan gone, and their father dead... Of course Jin Guangyao would be the only other option for sect leader. But to think that he orchestrated events... Killed his own father and brother...?
It's too much. Maybe it's the truth, or maybe it's Wei Wuxian spinning stories like people say he is wont to do. Either way, it's too much for Jin Zixuan to hear right now.
He shoves the jar of alcohol back into Wei Wuxian's hands, and stands up, smoothing his robes back into perfect straightness. ]
I think I've heard enough. If you're done leveling accusations at my half brother, then I'll go back to setting up for your wedding now.
no subject
[there's a note of acceptance in wei wuxian's voice. jin zixuan is from their world, and from before the truth was revealed - he knows that no one still wanted much to do with him even after it all came out. of course he wouldn't be believed.]
Ask Lan Zhan - just not today. Ask Jiang Cheng, hell, ask Zewu-jun. [jin guangyao's bonded and...more. however sympathetic lan zhan's brother is towards the man, wei wuxian still trusts that he wouldn't lie about the events that took place.]
I should get ready too.
[he sighs and stands. despite the unpleasantness, he hopes to have a happy day and finally marry lan wangji. but there's one last thing he wants his brother-in-law to know.]
That day on Qiongqi Path, there was a second flute. It wasn't me. Not you.
[wei wuxian made other trouble there, but he wasn't the one who took his sister's husband away. he didn't kill his nephew's father.]
Thanks for your help today.
no subject
It's not an issue of not believing you. [ He knows Wei Wuxian isn't lying. No alarm bells are ringing in his head, therefore he knows this is the truth, or at least part of it.
He doesn't know what he means about the flute, but he supposes that's yet another question about the future to put aside for a later time.
He takes a deep breath, deciding not to push the issue any further. ]
I wish the both of you a blissful union.
[ And he jumps down to the ground. ]
