[ And yet it only takes another minute before Vanitas stops. He huffs and rubs at his face, as if he has forgotten something. Because he has. ]

Look, I need you to think of something that irritates you or gets you mad.

[ Such a simple solution and yet he hadn’t thought of it until now. ]

Ah? That's an odd request, but… I'm sure I can think of something.

[If that's what Vanitas is asking for- presumably it'll help. If he thinks- that shouldn't be too bad. He lets the thought of Emet-Selch simmer for a moment, before shaking his head, trying to dismiss it. It might be a bad idea to let himself become truly angry.]

…do you need me to continue?

If you don't want to have to, you know, actually search then yes. Really any negative emotion will do. Irritation just works best.

[ Van shrugs. ]

Like attracts like and all.

So that draws it in. Then… it's a creature of such emotions?

[Well- it seems far simpler. He frowns for a moment, thinking- drawing on memories of his path being blocked, of people concealing answers and their desires- hoping that that will work.]

Why yes. Yes it is. Funny how that doesn't seem to click even when said outright.

[ Oh those guardians of Light might know this but they don't understand.

But go ahead Thancred. Get just irritated enough. In the next moment or two, a Flood sure does make its presence known, twitching as ever. ]

You create nothing but headaches, you know that?

[ It does respond to Vanitas, tilting its head this way and that. But really its focus might be on Thancred. ]

Very odd. It seems straightforward enough to assume that, if there is the ability to manifest emotions, they could be…. Is it uncommon?

[Oh. He watches it curiously, feathers twitching a little.]

Perhaps due to what it is? Does that make them aggressive?

These guys are the most common. [ Nudges the one there with a toe. ] And, well, it is a negative emotion. So don't you think that would make them aggressive?

Ah. So there are others, as well? If this one was drawn by irritation… I take it that the greater the emotion is, the larger they grow?

That… would make sense, yes. [he's still going to do the dumb thing and reach out to touch it. what does a physical negative emotion feel like?]

Floods, like these, are the most numerous. What you get all depends on the emotion, so that's not an inaccurate statement.

[ Vanitas, however, has no such hangups to touching them. He picks up the thing and starts to move into a different room. ]

Augh. I can already tell I'm going to have to get a collar and leash for this thing.

A Flood… ah, that's clever. Are the rest given different names?

[He is curious! But all right. He follows, hands moving to his pockets, watching.]

If it keeps wandering off… I suppose so. Would an ordinary collar stay on it?

Each kind of Unversed has a different name, yeah. Hareraiser. Archraven. Thornbite.

[ Just to name a few. There are a lot more, but no one needs to know how many more, right? ]

I think it might. It's not like it has any of its abilities here.

Ah. Those evoke a more particular image... How curious. Who named them?

[It’s probably fine as it is- less worrying, at least.]

Then we can at least try it out. Let’s see what materials we have.

[Even if it’s very makeshift, there’s probably something with at least one crafter around.]

[ They come from him, after all. Not that... Thancred knows this just yet. It's not a secret. Vanitas just usually likes a more dramatic reveal. ]

Wait. You mean make one here? Now?

Is that so? You discovered them, then?

[That's surprising enough, in itself.]

Ah? Shouldn't we? It would help you to know where it was, correct?

They're created, not discovered.

[ Though Thancred does have a point. Now would be better than later, if they can manage. ]

I wonder if there is a way to put a tracking spell on it.

Created? By you, or another?

[One seems more likely than the other, but… how?]

Hm. I suppose that would be some manner of enchantment? I imagine it would be possible, particularly if it's your familiar.

[ Vanitas fixes Thancred with a look, brief as it is. ]

[ Again, Vanitas isn't one that houses a lot of secrets. Or, rather, there are plenty of secrets he just doesn't see fit to keep them. ]

Guess that's one more reason to visit the Coven. They might have an idea of what sort of spell to use.

And so naming them makes perfect sense. Are they good company, then?

[Secrets to be revealed when someone asks, perhaps.]

I'd think so. Someone else is bound to have had a similar problem in the past.

They're negative emotions manifested as creatures. Do you really think that they are good company?

[ He hates them, Thancred. Downright loathes them. As for Thancred's secrets... Vanitas is going to get to that. ]

It's an odd thought…. Why manifest them, then? Have you manifested any positive emotions?

[ahaha. Not something he's quite looking forward to.]

[ Prize Pods are probably the closest thing that Vanitas has to a positive emotion. Even his 'happy faced' Unversed are still born from more darker desires. ]

No, I haven't. As I am of Darkness how could I create anything positive?

[ Again, questions that sort of answer themselves. ]

Why, oh why, do I manifest them? The world may never know.

…you believe that of yourself?

[Not that he's had good experiences with dark powers, but- it bothers him, and he tilts his head, looking Vanitas over again to try to estimate his age.]

Perhaps- how often do you feel those emotions?

It is what it is. You'd think that if I were capable then I would have experienced it by now, right?

[ Good luck with that, Thancred. Vanitas wouldn't even know that exactly. But he looks to be about 16? 17? ]

All the time?

It surprises me that you haven't.

[Younger than himself, but- capable enough. But- if he's only felt negative emotions, all his life…]

That doesn't seem right. I wonder…. Do you like song?
