[Demons? Pierce's eyes widen in disbelief, but he does stay quiet until the younger man is finished explaining. Well now, that did explain how having children was possible, even if the rest of it was a little disturbing.]

That's a real nice goal to have. [See, he could say something nice about demonic monsters.] But I still never heard of vampires bein' living beings before. The ones where I'm from sure aren't, I can tell you that much. That curse takes hold after another vampire turns 'em into one, and it kills the poor soul when it happens.

[It was entirely possible that there was some kind of demonic influence involved with the dead variety of vampire, too, but Pierce couldn't know that for certain. He hadn't ever been able to ask one.]

So what's that mean for you if you can't go an' drink someone's blood?

Pierce is now fairly certain that he's just continuing to make the situation worse. He likely would've been spooked to hear about this kind of thing as a kid himself, and now here he was doing it to someone else. It can't help that he's been speaking with the authority of a person that knew full well that ghosts were real.

After taking another fish stick, he gestures to Paris with it, "Don't go an' worry yourself over it. Maybe you're right that it just don't happen where you're from. If you got critters like that one walkin' around, we can't be from anywhere close to the same place."

Pierce was slowly starting to adjust to the idea that a lot of the other folks who came through the mirrors weren't from Earth, or weren't from an Earth he was familiar with. There were just too many people in that group that were dressed strange or otherwise hadn't looked quite human to start with.

but, disorientation (from being both dropped and flung) leaves amadeus sensitive to that loud boasting. he remains on the floor, eyes shut tight but certainly vividly imagining that cape wave when he hears it. ] Right. It was completely unintentional, though?

[ what he can help now is finally sitting himself up. beyond the deep, faraway echoes that the library of mirrors produces, he can get a good look at where he... ended up... ]

[ wolfgang amadeus mozart, the genius composer, the musician loved by god, the man who touched the heavens—

is really quite a terrible creature. in koga he sees a young, starry-eyed musician aspiring to be everything he became, and all the overt admiration in him, plain as day, is really too much. sure, as a servant he's become intimately familiar with the grand reputation he left behind, and all his admirers the world over, but koga doesn't even know who he is.

amadeus watches with silent amusement while he sells his abilities, but, when koga finally asks that question... in spite of the obvious way he hesitated — a grin spreads wide and easy on amadeus's face.

yeah, here it comes. ] Pfft— Ahahahaha!

[ oops! he can't help it– amadeus just laughs for a good few seconds before winding down. and once he does, he suddenly brings koga closer with an arm flung over his shoulder. ] Well, certainly! How could I refuse a request like that?

[ humor colors his face. ] The only challenge is... finding a song the both of us know. I am from the 18th century, after all.

[ given the current, precarious state of his servanthood and the void of information given to him as they venture further away from the crowd and into the woodsy point of no return ... the tune of a terrible fate begins to play in the back of his mind. anything could happen between now and the next few moments, he knows, and yet he chose to follow salieri anyway.

... well, unless his luck is in reality a solid rank e, salieri shouldn't have his abilities either. no armor, no man in grey, nothing to worry about, right?

a sigh escapes him as he watches that back. he doesn't even have the means to disarm salieri of his dagger, if that's what it came down to.

[ ah, that certainly is a terrible little emotion he hears in those words.

a deep frown finds his face, because no, he really doesn't. ] You'll have to narrow down your complaint a bit, Salieri. [ when he stops he stands a good distance from his accuser, yet still plenty impudent– too casual when he crosses one arm and leaves the other shrugging a hand in the air. ]

Are you talking about when I ate your last pudding? Maybe that time I convinced Da Ponte that you confessed during your bathroom breaks?

[ the fact that his reputation in the public eye is forever tarnished because of him?

We don't see a lot of castles where I'm from. I think the biggest building in my home town growing up was the courthouse. Maybe the library.

You don't seem that bad to me. We're all coming from different places and it'll take some time to get used to being here. We might as well take a look around together. It seems safer than traveling alone.

Well, I can't seem to use any of the magic I was born with... but the applications of what we can learn here are limited only by our imaginations.

It isn't the same, but if what we did in the dreams is in any way a guidepost, then I think I won't be disappointed.

[At the word sweet, it's Dylas' turn to make a face. The very idea of a sugary carrot (or otherwise) drink is pretty appalling to him. Anyone who spends five minutes alone with the horseman might be able to surmise as much. He's not exactly the most saccharine person around.]

I don't know what else you could've mistaken it for. It's pretty orange. [Orange, as in the name of the fruit. As in the name of the peel they used to garnish the top. He gives Salieri a look at the foreign word, but then Dylas shakes his head. He's too tired for this.] I wouldn't mind another, so I guess that's alright with me. Usually, they only give 'em out to pairs or groups, but I stood around long enough that she finally asked me what I wanted from her.

[Translation: Dylas ominously stood around a merchant girl until she was so bothered by his sullen expression that she used food to get him to leave.]

[Some of the purpose she had carried herself with has evaporated as she makes her way back to Archer after making her jump. It seems like that odd impulsive feeling has abated a little, which is a relief. She got a neat bracelet out of the deal too, so that's cool.

His praise when she returns to him gets a small smile, though it's a little bashful around the edges, and she brushes it off as she holds out her arms to receive her regalia.]

Well, it is good to confirm we still possess whatever physical abilities we might have had before, even if our unique magics have been lost to us. [Help, how does she take compliments--] Please, forgive me for being an imposition so unexpectedly.

"They haven't." Augustine admits while attempting not seem so awkward. That alone is a difficult feat for someone who sticks out like a sore thumb. The dhampir pulls the red cloak tighter around himself in hopes of concealing some of his injuries from view.

"At least not thoroughly enough." He adds a moment later. "There were others worse off than myself. So, I didn't...feel like pressing the issue." A kind heart lurks under all the anger and hurt. That's refreshing but honestly, that could possible be troublesome as well.
