In that case...do you want to try reasoning with it first, and then throwing in charm to help out if we need it? We could retain sleep as an absolute back-up.

Sounds good to me. I hope you're good with animals, Midorin. I'm not bad, [ read: Leon, Koga's corgi, likes him ] but it'll be a total waste if it hates you on sight.

[ Mmm. Ritsu edges forward a bit, thinks about it, and hmms. ]

...I'll head in first then and just duck out if it gets at me. Can't be that hard, even if I sorta wish we brought food to try and befriend it. I mean, it's just an animal, right? Even strays can get bought by treats if you're nice about it.

N-no! I'm pretty sure these are completely normal! Not...not like, dream food...the only reason they'd make me weepy is because he's a really good cook...!

I kinda get that. My baked goods bring a lot of people to tears when they see 'em. ♪

Those'll work though, I guess... I mean, hopefully they will. [ 'kay, he's holding out his hand. ] Hand 'em over, Midorin. Let's get this exercise over with... Help a baby out.

[ But teenager stomach aside...he digs into his bag and pulls out some neatly wrapped onigiri! ]

Here we go! Um, if this doesn't work, I'm sure I can manage the charm spell.

[ Oh, they look really nice ♪ He's tempted to have one himself... But he'll hold off on it, taking them graciously with a hum and, very carefully, stepping out.

The little manticore perks up somewhat, guarded, and Ritsu unwraps one of the onigiri to hold out as he approaches. ]

He~y, little guy... You hungry? [ He stops a few feet from it, kneeling down. ] ...Hungry for something that isn't me, I mean? I'm not really that tasty... Couple people I know'd call me spoiled.

[ Banter doesn't really seem to work on manticores, but Ritsu's easy-going nature and willingness to sit there does; it slowly pulls itself up from the ground, growling lowly, but hasn't ... outright attacked him yet. Ritsu watches it closely, taking one of the onigiri to gently roll out of his hand and more towards it.

Tense, then the manticore sniffs at it and bats it closer with a paw, smashing its face into it as it eats. Ritsu slowly exhales, then equally slowly turns his head to thumbs up at Izuku.

Look at him go, man. Maybe things'll work out. ]

[nemuru]

[ Or maybe he shouldn't look away from the manticore, considering the next moment it leaps on him - for the rest of the onigiri, but it has sharp claws, and Ritsu yells a little as he's knocked down. ]

Midoriiiin- [ Please help, the claws are sharp and the manticore has no limit on stopping. ]

A-ah! [ Kacchan's cooking is just THAT GOOD...Izuku's hurrying over, though, careful and quiet even as he whispers a small charm spell to help Ritsu out... ]

H-hey, calm down, there's plenty more where that came from!

[ An entire bento box, even. ]

[ The manticore's tail lashes out at Izuku, stopping the moment the charm spell hits it; it curls at the top instead, not unlike a cat's when it's happy, and it pushes roughly off of Ritsu to meet Izuku halfway.

It's much more affectionate to him, charmed as it is, and Ritsu slowly sits up to inspect himself. Just some shallow scratches, like minor scrapes. ]

...Worked better than I thought it would. [ So To Speak. ] Kinda wanna try some of that bento now, if it made some stinky lion cub thing go nuts. Is there catnip in it?

Well...no, it's just that Kacchan is really good at cooking.

[ Of course Izuku is also a huge fanboy so like...the truth is somewhere inbetween there, maybe (no he's really good at cooking okay)... ]

Maybe he can get hired for this sort of thing?

[nemuru]

Cooking, or for making food so good it charms little infected monsters?

[ ...They go hand-in-hand, but one is significantly more important. ]
