Intro Log: October 2020
I. ARRIVAL
A moment later, you feel a tug, and you find yourself stumbling into a dark, musty room. Behind you, a mirror stands ornately decorated with reminders of home wrought in brass and wood: the faces of people you know, and symbols important to you; all things that send a pang through your chest with the desire to return to them. Touching the mirror's surface does nothing but leave the stain of your fingerprints. When you turn to survey the room, you find there are hundreds of other mirrors. None of them are as decorated as yours - they're plain and dusty, speckled with age. Then you realize a second thing: You're not alone. Distantly, the ringing bell of a clocktower can be heard. But no matter its distance, the time is clear to make out: it chimes three times, stark, resonating like a pulse of something in this mirrored hall that you and many others have found yourselves in. For those familiar with magic, they might feel the power of the witching hour upon them, though it will feel different from what they're used to - in fact, everything does. You're certainly not the only ones here, however. On the first floor, with the doors wide open behind them in the foyer, is a small group headed by two individuals. As people begin to arrive, to come from the higher floor, they're waiting - and they're waiting for you, and your questions. Explore the rest of the mirrored halls you've now found yourselves in, or proceed to the foyer? Leaving the Looking-Glass House makes it obvious that the clock striking three was for 3 AM - the night sky is faintly cloudy, but the stars are dim in the face of two moons, even so close to the new moon as it is. The Looking-Glass House is rather nondescript two-story cottage made of grey brick, sitting at the edge of The Coven's courtyard; stones which glow as you step on them mark the path to and from the two buildings. While fairly small and plain on the outside, the inside has been enchanted to be the size of a large library, with hundreds upon hundreds of mirrors hanging, standing, and resting inside its walls. Some are broken, some are cracked, and some seem completely uninjured - but all of them are just as plain as the cottage itself, showing age in the silver beneath their glass and in the greening of their metals... Well, all except a character's personal mirror; to characters, one mirror - the one they came through - will be decorated lavishly with metal-and-wood-wrought reminders of home, and the surface will be as clear as a brand-new mirror. |
II. THE WELCOME PARTY
"My goodness. In the middle of the month! We weren't expecting you, we weren't!" The woman smiles broadly, with her Bonded glancing over the newly arrived and those who may have followed them in to volunteer explanations and assistance to the newest addition of their Mirrorbound bunch. "Let's get through the introductions, shall we? This here's Mhairi Ainsley, ambassador to the Parliament, and of course, my Bonded. And I'm Nerissa Bell, Head Witch of the Coven -- but you can just call me Miss Nessie, you can," she adds with a wink. "I know you must all be tired and confused after all that. We're here to help get you settled, dearest. Let me just..." With nothing more than a wave of her hand, rows of seats are summoned; despite their wooden nature, they're all sturdy and comfortable, filling the foyer and spreading out a ways into the lawn behind them, making room for all of the new arrivals as well as the previous batch. After all, they'll find this just as interesting. The Witches and Monsters that accompanied Nessie and Mhairi move to make room, and some disperse into the building itself to see if there's anyone who needs tending to. Mhairi steps forward as the chairs materialize. "Please, those who are able, join us for a moment. There are many questions that I'm sure you have. We will do our utmost best to answer them, and you may take any that we can't as a promise to find some sort of solution or answer." NOTE: If you wish to handwave interaction with Nessie and Mhairi, please comment here. All responses will be summarized answers rather than an IC thread. For those that'd like a more player-based interaction, Aefenglom has its own Welcome Wagon! These are players who've volunteered for the role, and those that didn't sign up may assist as well if they'd feel their character would -- have fun, and make friends. Additionally, those with notable injuries or sickness will be attended to ASAP by Coven-based witches, and should anyone be curious about what they are -- namely, if they have magic potential or not -- then this can be done during this and the general hour or so the new arrivals are within the Coven's grounds. There are ongoing classes on magic, monsters, and Bonding as well, though they take place more during the day than at night. Feel free to have your characters attend them at any time! |
III. THE HAVEN
As you're leaving -- with Coven and/or Mirrobound escorts as guides -- you'll be given a peculiar-looking device. It's a very special watch, the native Witches explain, compliments of Parliament. These watches are passed around to all the new arrivals, who are given a quick rundown on their functions and encouraged to test them out when they can. They can even do it as they make their way out of the Coven's courtyard and to the Haven. Formerly part of the Aristocratic District, The Haven is just as well-kept and brightly-lit as the district it hails from. The houses err on the tall and ornamental side, large enough to fit several families (or, according to the upper class, their one family, several dozen servants, and guests), especially closest to the Aristocratic District. They become a little more modest and smaller as one gets away from the realm of high society and nearer to the Residential District proper. Newcomers are shuffled here and invited to find somewhere to live, free of cost. The Coven is currently handling expenses for the houses themselves in a program implemented by the Parliament, though if your character wishes to have anything extra -- like maids, chefs, and so on -- they'll have to pay for them with their own earned money. Much of the landscape and fixtures are the same as in the Aristocratic Districts, though it lacks formal emergency services. Much of the housing already has furnishing as well: standard items such as kitchenware, couches, beds, etc. were left behind by the relocated owners for those moving in. Though some are fairly newly-unoccupied, the dust on the floors of other houses suggests they were left long before the new arrivals even showed up -- a reminder that the Cwyld can strike just about anyone, regardless of standing. Another portion of this district has been opened up to the new arrivals: the barracks, the row of buildings pressed against the very edge of the Bright Wall. As the city's military force no longer has the same presence it previously did, the barracks have gone into disuse, and a cleanup effort has been in place since before the new arrivals came through the Looking-Glass House. For those who desire something a little less opulent, the barracks might just be the answer. The barracks can also be used for business, for a welcome center, a communal space, for anything that the residents of the Haven see fit to use them for -- so long as the legality isn't questionable, at least on the surface. To help with filling up the larger houses -- and even some of the smaller ones, or the shared rooms in the barracks -- the Coven put together a little roommate finding service, on a smaller scale from the grand opening of the Haven a while back. For those who aren't entirely sure who they want to shack up with, they have a small survey for them to fill out and post on the board they've magicked up in the center of The Haven. The board also very helpfully reads aloud each form for everyone to hear in a cheerful, monotone voice. It isn't able to be shut up, nor is it easy to ignore, being imbued with a kind of amplification magic. It simply reads the information you've offered up yourself -- or that someone might have written up for you, should that be their idea of fun. |
Welcome to the intro log! While mingling on the log itself is highly encouraged, feel free to make your own logs if you prefer! The network system is free to use once characters have their watches as well; information on that can be found at the bottom of the Setting page, while any extra questions about it can be found in the FAQ index. Quests can be picked up throughout the month as well! While new characters will have to get settled in, you can go ahead and put your name on some by replying to the October's Quest Pickup thread on the Quest Board. Finally, if your character is getting into any Shenanigans or if you have any other questions, just let the mods know here!

Ferran Gallagher | OC | Fae | Open!!
[If you're thinking that the silent young man with dark circles under eyes, who fluctuated between deer in headlights to staring into the middle distance during the whole Q&A session, and who came out of a the consultation about magical potential somehow even paler than before, also looks like he's about to keel over at the slightest provocation—
Well, you'd be absolutely right.
On the way to the Haven, he just up and collapses in the street. This is way too much trauma for him to handle at the current moment, and as it turns out, he's really bad at asking for help before getting to this point!]
[b] Network (username: feal)
is there somewhere people can go to find a bonding partner
id like to have one as soon as possible
thank you
[Half-hearted typing or not, he can't forget his manners.]
[c] Lawn & Order
[Free housing is certainly a huge boon, and one that Ferran is grateful for, but there's a lot more than shelter that a person needs to live—food and clothing, for starters, and there's only so much he can (stand to) rely on charity or hospitality. So after a day or two, he takes the most easily accessible job he can find, and starts raking.
Over the course of an hour or two, though, he eventually starts staring off like he's in another world entirely, leaning vaguely against his rake in front of a pile and scattered assortment of leaves.
It looks pretty easy to take some of those without him noticing; they're pretty valuable, after all, as far as leaves go. Or he could be in someone's way, which he usually tries to avoid, but he has zero situational awareness at the moment. Or maybe someone could just prod him back to reality for the sake of being nice? He doesn't exactly have the healthiest look about him, so it's not unlikely for someone to think he needs a break. Or a snack.]
[d] Happy Hauntings
[Several days after arriving, a few sparkling scales are already visible on the backs of his hands, and he's resolutely ignoring their existence for as long as possible. It's slightly easier to focus on the mundane goal of funds... and get distracted by an entirely different supernatural issue that doesn't involve him at all. Annoying but harmless ghosts are basically a day at the spa compared to fighting monsters every other day.
Whether he's come there already accompanied by another Mirrorbound, or someone shows up to help a little later, he ends up squinting at the image of Edgar when it tries to brush them off. Not now, let an old man listen to his sports!
For the first time since his quiet introductions and any polite but brief small talk that might have followed, he speaks up.]
There's something weird about this...
[well no shit, sherlock, it's a ghost.]

Lahabrea / FFXIV / Dragon
The nightmares had been a warning of what was to come, and Lahabrea had heeded the warning.
Not that it had helped much, as he'd suddenly found himself detoured on his way to somewhere much more important, and finding himself in a hall of mirrors with a pineapple still tucked under one arm really wasn't how he'd planned on spending his evening; but he'd done nothing at all about it beyond follow the rest to the foyer, mouth set in a thin line of displeasure.
The city outside looks far more lively than he'd last seen it. And there's far more people; was this the waking version, and not merely another dream?
But the hooded, masked man remains utterly silent through the introduction, silent as he takes a seat with the rest, and silent still as questions are asked and answered. Listening can provide as many revelations as asking questions! ... For a while anyway. As the introduction continues by the far too cheerful-seeming witch and her partner, and others volunter to aid, Lahabrea tolerates the endless birdlike chatter around him for as long as he can (which frankly isn't as long as anyone with an inch of patience could manage) before standing abrubtly again in a screech of chair leg on flooring, scowling. "If this isn't explicitly necessary--"
Actually no, it seems he's not waiting for a response from anyone at all, he simply heads for the lawn and the promise of the greater city beyond, bristling with practically visible indignation. He's certainly stoppable, and he might well shoulder out of his way anyone who happens to be directly in his path. So much for politeness.
Havens!
Leaving hasn't helped his mood any.
But now he has a bizarre watch to go with everyhing else, and it's somewhere up a sleeve for later inspection. So far it's the only thing that hasn't on some level annoyed him, and is indeed going to be fiddled with later with much interest ... where nobody can watch him doing so. Curiosity is a thing to be indulged in private, not in public! What if someone saw him break it??
Prowling through the area they're expected to stay mostly on his own has brought him to the conclusion that this world is certainly run by mortals, and is somewhat better than most refugee camps. The barracks certainly had a similar taste to it, and something in his thoughts recoiled at the idea of something as utterly generic and dull as a shared apartment. He required something much finer. With more space.
To put things in. Things like his pineapple and new watch, and much more..
The thought is shaken off as he comes across the board that's literally broadcasting invitations and information to anyone who passes by, and all his annoyance bubbles back up.
"Do they intend to force everyone to cohabit with complete strangers? My, this surely will work marvelously." Why yes that is utter dripping scorn.
[OOC: Wildcard: he's going to be lurking around all over the place for a while, got a different spot you'd like?? Or anything else for that matter?!]
haven
Light isn't focused on the board in the same way. He already has a plan in place thanks to the dreams that happened before his arrival, but he hears the same voice that exploded in class. The man sounds as angry as Light feels.
"If you're worried about your privacy, a lot of the houses sounded large enough that even with a roommate, you'd have your own space."

Croix Meridies | Little Witch Academia | Witch
Croix is happy to be free of the opening lecture; it was all fascinating, but she chafed under the fact that she'd been pulled here to begin with. She still had work to do back home, and while that was still a concern, at the very least she had her own time to herself now, and could figure out a direction for herself.
It had been a long time since her time had been "her own". She'd done nothing to earn it, and what's more, she suspected this would all be a violation of her sentence, but that was a problem for future Croix, not the present one. Still, the fact that she'd done nothing to earn said freedom somewhat weighed upon her.
Her first act would be to analyze the device she'd been given. It went without saying that Croix appreciated technology, and she wanted to make sure she knew this thing inside and out. It consumed her attention to the point she was standing in the middle of the street working at it, or sitting on some bench, studying it and checking out its functions.
As such, you might get a purple-haired woman obliviously walking right into you. Watch out, it's an active hazard.
[Network, un: miss_tech]
It seems I'm one of the new arrivals here. My name is Croix Meridies, and I suppose I'd like to welcome myself to the number of Mirrorbound.
I've been given the introductory lecture same as everyone else, so I'll cut right to the chase. I'm a witch, and I need a bonded partner, so I think it'd be safe to say applications are open. I'm already a student of magic in my own world, so I can promise you I'll be a quick study of what sort of system this world has to offer.
That said, any other useful information that anyone has to share would be appreciated as well.

Light Yagami | Death Note | Witch
This isn't home. The wall of mirrors around him represents the outcome he feared when going through the original nightmares: he woke up in the wrong place. He's needed back at home, not in this world. For a moment, he stands in front of his mirror, seeing the familiar shapes and faces while anger washes over him. Since he's in public, nothing shows aside from the length of time he spends looking at the mirror before he sighs. Light can handle this. When speaking to those he met while in the dreams, he found out this was a possibility. It's a setback, but he'll handle it.
Turning, he's surprised to see someone else in the room too, someone just arriving.
"You surprised me. I thought I was alone."
b. Welcome Party
It's a lot to take in and if the circumstances were different, maybe Light would have been more skeptical, but the proof of magic is around him, he'd spent time in a nightmare with L, and Ryuk is already proof of the supernatural.
He sits quietly through the presentation, taking in all of the details. Light's always been detailed oriented and now isn't an exception. Once the talk is over, he stands and looks over the others nearby. Normally, despite his skills in a social situation, he's not overly social for no reason. Today is no reason. He's in a new world largely alone.
"It's a lot to take in, isn't it? But the path of magic sounds like an interesting one to explore."
It's no difficulty for him to speak to a stranger.
c. Network Post; video; u/n l.yagami
[ It took Light far too much time for Light to decide on a username but ultimately, he decided on something that could be connected to him for now. As someone starting from the ground up, as all of the new arrivals will presumably be doing, it's important to get established.
The video starts simply, with Light in front of his device. ]
I'd like to introduce myself and meet the other people here, new and old. I'm Light Yagami, an unbonded witch. I am curious about the types of magic everyone chose. What did you find the most useful? Why did you choose that specific path?
For monsters, did you find it hard to adjust to all of the changes you went through? I imagine it would be, but I also realize there might be something that happened psychologically that made it easier. I've heard it's possible to change so I can't help but wonder.

Okay in this case, he is lurking and spying. Many reactions so far have been ones of surprise or confusion, and Light's.. well, his is not. The sigh, his bearing suggests to the Ascian that there's more resignation than shock in finding himself here.
If it weren't for the dealings with all the shinigami, finding someone masked and robed lurking in the dark might in fact be really alarming but compared to the likes of Ryuk, Lahabrea is mundane.
"I do apologize," the stranger says, thoroughly insincerely, his voice a dry rasp. "These mirrors hide the presence of others remarkably well." Well, that much is true at least! In fact he'd just stepped around his and here was Light. ".... Forgive my curiosity, but you do not seem shocked to find yourself somewhere likely far from home."

Brennan Trevelyan | Dragon Age Inquisition | Chimera | OTA!
[ This is hardly the first time Brennan has fallen through a mirror. In fact, it's becoming something of a hobby at this point. Not always by choice, unfortunately. Like this seems to be, because he looks more confused to be stumbling out into a strange, dusty room than he normally does. Glancing back over his shoulder at his own mirror, one that resembles the towering eluvian he's had to travel through on several occasions now, he again takes in his surroundings before huffing out a deep, exasperated sigh. ]
Morrigan, where the hell have you sent me this time? This is not the Crossroads.
[ At least it's not the Fade, either? That's... somewhat of a plus. At least until someone discovers he's inadvertently broken into their house and starts screaming to high heavens. Maker. Varric's not going to let him live this one down, is he?
Which probably shouldn't be his first - or biggest - concern, honestly, but here he is. One hand resting on the hilt of his sword, he sets out to see where he's ended up. And how he might get himself back to Skyhold. Preferably before anyone realizes he's unexpectedly missing. ]
B. Another Haven
[ To say he's a little disconcerted about being directed towards a place called Haven would be an understatement, but other than a slight tick to his jaw and a faint furrow of his brow as he approaches, his demeanor seems confident and at ease. There's a shield on his back and a sword at his hip, but he projects a mostly friendly and curious air, rather than a dangerous one.
He'd stayed for the talk. And memories have already started slowly seeping back in. Of strange dreams and fighting nightmares, and... well, it's all pretty cloudy still, if he's perfectly honest with himself. What he does know is this isn't Thedas and he is very much out of his element. Still, he tries, grasping at the memories he does remember learning about this place.
Which is why if he spots someone who looks like they actually belong here (rather than wandering around looking like a lost puppy), he'll approach with an earnest expression and a question. ]
Excuse me. Do you know about the city cursed into slumber? Can you tell me what happened there?
[ But regardless of the answers he finds - or doesn't - he eventually ends up in front of the strange board, which is reading off what sounds like wanted ads and requests for help. He stares at it for a long moment, his expression torn somewhere between skeptical and amused. ]
Well, that's... a little annoying, actually. Does it ever stop?
C. Wildcard

he'd wandered into the Haven today when he'd heard more Mirrorbound had appeared in the vain hopes that perhaps he'd see a friendly face, but somehow he still manages to appear startled when someone actually approaches him with questions. questions he can actually answer, even, although not (he believes) very well. what were the odds?]
Um -
[put the napkin back down, Styx, you're speaking into it. there.]
Mean...was there 'nd all, can probably tell you some stuff. But I dunno, uh, if you really wanna hear it from me? There's tons've other people who'd probably be able to tell you more.

Whiteout - I'm sorry for the shitpost (not really tho)
It was something that she wished she'd not been told. So she could have been oblivious.
But no. The fae was stood there for a moment, her thin antenna slicking back. The stumps of her growing second pair of arms handing low as her mouth opened. Except no words came out as she watched this guy feel up one of the gross posters. She didn't blink, and her compound eyes didn't really let her look away...
...Okay, shaking her head and looking at the ground instead. And finally, the words come out. At least they were dull and dry, lacking any of the embrassment she felt at having to explain.
"If you don't already know. Then it's better you stay that way."
Because she sure regreted being told.

Vinsmoke Sanji | One Piece | Vampire
[He's no longer on the Thousand Sunny and that's the only thought racing through his mind as his eyes dart around the room, one filled with dull looking mirrors. What happened? Where is he?? Did Big Mom or one of her children manage to snatch him at the last second? It doesn't seem possible, since they were out of her territory, but... he can't discount anything either.
And more alarmingly, he doesn't see anyone else from the Sunny with him.
Luffy...! His captain, who stood there and took Sanji's attacks, who nearly starved himself waiting for him to return, is nowhere in sight. The cook can feel his hands ruffle his hair in aggravation, the concern for his nakama also spiking-- did something bad happen to them? To make matters worse, he feels weaker somehow. Haki doesn't feel prevalent anymore and no matter the passion or drive that normally heats his legs, that power doesn't come forth.
With his anxiety building, Sanji continues to look around the room, until the finally notices the mirror that he came from, one that's decorated with the faces of his friends, his family, from the nakama on Thousand Sunny to the old geezer back on the Baratie. Normally a comfort in a time like this, but he's still ruffled.
Especially since touching the mirror doesn't seem to do anything, just a simple reflection of Sanji's growing aggravated state. Almost like it's mocking Sanji of the people he wants to see again.
So, with a loud curse, Sanji swings his leg into the mirror, which fortunately for him, doesn't crack under his strength.]
SHITTY MIRROR!
welcome party;
[So, that's their situation.
Sanji is thankful to whatever deity that he arrived with his normal cigarettes and lighter, because right now, he definitely needs something to calm his nerves after everything that just happened. It's nearly crushing to be separated from his friends so soon, after all the shit with the Vinsmokes and Big Mom, but now he has to keep his cool and learn everything about this place. It's all shitty, but he's not quite as lost as before.
Nonetheless, Sanji is leaning against a wall while exhaling a plume of smoke, wary but far more in control of himself compared to earlier. He definitely has a lot of questions still, and there's a certain distrust he has, but it's up to him to figure out what's bullshit.]
haven;
[So the loss of his normal fighting techniques have been mostly explained, why he can't simply just sky walk or rely on Diable Jambe for his more powerful attacks. At the very least, he still has normal legs to both fight and protect, but the confirmation that he's going to be a monster makes him unsettled as well.
Not that he would want to be a Witch either, but.
Sanji lets out a sigh as he stands outside for a bit, just staring, not exactly at the sun, but in its general direction, raising a hand to partially cover his eyes. New city, so best to explore, figure out the shitty secrets it undoubtedly holds. Find a way back to Luffy and the others.
--But shit, his body is really starting to get uncomfortable, like the sun is beating down on him rather than comfortably warming him up. He's never felt this way before and a glaring explanation soon rises in Sanji's mind, but he squishes that thought immediately. He still doesn't know for sure.
Nonetheless, he begins to move away, to stand underneath a building's overhang and only somewhat acknowledging the relief that simple action has caused him.]
The hell?? Is something weird about the sun here?
[He asks that more to himself, but someone nearby can probably hear him.]
wildcard;
[Have something else in mind? Hit me up at
haven
Could be! 's two moons here 'nd stuff...wouldn't be that weird if something was different about the sun too.
[maybe, like. it was bigger than the normal sun? or it changed color when nobody was looking...shit, that'd be pretty damn cool. Styx looks a little lost in thought as he contemplates the possibilities here.]

Tsukuyo | Gintama | Harpy | OPEN
[ Witches? Monsters? Nope. This is clearly some weird Halloween special episode that Tsukuyo does not have time to be a part of.
The Q&A session only seems to leave her with even more questions than she started with, especially now that she's been informed that she's in the monster category.
She definitely needs some air - and a smoke. The moment they all break from the session, the blonde woman make a beeline for the nearest exit to The Looking-Glass House. Upon leaving the cottage she finds herself in the Coven' courtyard. Observing the way the stones leading to and from the building glow as people step on them, with a sigh, she leans against a wall and lights her pipe. ]
There's gotta be a way out of here. [ She's speaking to herself, more than anyone in particular who might be around... ]
- b. THE HAVEN
[ Tsukuyo is stood in front of the notice board, waiting for it to shut up so she can take a look at the ominous roommate finding service form... Only, you know, it's not actually doing that. The board just continues on its merry way reading aloud in its cheery, monotone voice.
Favourite colour? Why does someone even need to know that about her? Urgh. Trying to think with this racket is kind of like being back home after all. ]
...Ain't there a way to shut this thing up?
- c. NETWORK (username: courtesanofdeath )
so is this "bonding" thing really as necessary as they made it sound?
[ Because right now she isn't wanting any part in it. ]

Alice Elliot | Shadow Hearts | Witch | OTA
[In one moment, Alice is on a train to Zurich leaning heavily against Yuri as he sleeps. She feels herself fading and is fighting off the inevitable to eke out just a few more moments with the man she loves before she leaves him forever. The train passes through a tunnel and she stares at her reflection in the suddenly-darkened window, somehow compelled to reach out for it.
In the next moment, she's in a large room filled with mirrors. At first she assumes it's the afterlife, and the mirror behind her showing her images of home certainly lends credence to that theory. It isn't until she notices the other people in the room and hears the chiming of the three o'clock hour that she begins to consider otherwise.]
II. THE WELCOME PARTY
[Alice doesn't linger long in the mirrored halls of the Looking-Glass House, instead following whatever force is drawing her to the building's foyer. Nothing here feels especially evil or oppressive, which is a nice change from the sorts of magical forces she's used to dealing with, but it warrants investigation all the same. Once the crowd is greeted by Miss Nessie and Mhairi Ainsley, Alice is able to put two and two together: this is the waking version of the nightmare world she had been pulled into a few weeks ago. Clearly, that Mettaton robot-rabbit-person was right. She had been destined to arrive here in earnest.
The realization brings a complicated set of feelings, but overwhelmingly Alice finds herself grateful for the opportunity to live a little bit longer and help make a difference for this world. After accepting a warm brew of something from a witch--handed over with the words "You look very pale, dear, please drink this to recover your strength."--Alice listens with rapt attention as instructions are provided and questions are answered. Once the orientation finishes, she lingers around to meet people acclimate herself a bit more. She's open to being approached, or she may approach others that seem open to it and comment on their circumstances:]
This certainly is a lot to take in. Are you one of the people who came here during the dreaming, or is this your first time here?
III. HAPPY HAUNTINGS
[As an experienced exorcist, Alice is more than happy to help Edith Greenstone with her ghostly troubles. She has asked the elderly Puca to clear the premesis and has done a cursory examination of the grounds. She hasn't found anything remiss so far, but she also hasn't found any disruptive aerobics being performed by the neighbors either. Even odds so far on an actual ghost versus a completely mundane cause.
Of course, the best exorcists practice in pairs--better to have two sets of eyes on the problem than one. She turns to her recently-recruited partner (you!).]
So far, I haven't noticed anything. How did your exploration of the home go?
IV. WILDCARD
[Feel free to come up with a prompt not listed here!]
iii
he's at least taking this investigation seriously, working to the best of his limited abilities to help out. when his "partner" more or less asks for a report about his poking into this woman's living space he grins and produces a very nice looking tobacco pipe.]
Check it out! 's still warm.
[the possibility that Edith might just like to smoke a nice pipe now and then simply doesn't occur to him at all. he seems very excited about this rather mundane discovery.]

yuri hyuga | shadow hearts | chimera | OPEN
Nothing is quite as graceful as Yuri Hyuga falling head over ass out of a mirror. It's not a silent event, either - he yells, his body thumping loudly against the floor as his back hits it. His legs stay up, feet propped on what is now very solid glass. He lets his arms fall akimbo, and takes a minute to just adjust.
Just give him a minute.
Last time he went through glass, he managed to stay upright. That experience isn't remotely close to this, but hell. He's not the only one having a time of it -- the sounds of others reach his ears, the din of confusion something he can relate to. Yuri takes a second to really listen, tuning in for the familiar sounds of his companions. They sure as hell will be easy to pick up, if they're around anyway.
When it's clear that the others aren't anyone familiar, he sighs heavily before pushing himself up, brushing his pants free of any dust, and he begins his journey to figuring out What the Hell and Who the Hell.
A great place to start? The person he finds himself behind at some point, hand reaching out to tap an unsuspecting shoulder.
"Hey, any idea where the hell we are?"
It's friendly enough, and definitely confused. He knows he'll run into someone, eventually, who can answer his questions.
iii. but seriously...what the hell?
He finds himself wandering a bit in the early hours of the morning, feeling even more confused though he now has more information than he started with. Progress? Sure, but he still doesn't know what to make of everything.
And so, he will focus on the small things first. Such as this weird device he has clutched in his hand.
One might find him sitting on a retaining wall somewhere, or a bench, brow furrowed as he fiddles with the device. He holds it up to his ear, startling when there's actual noise that comes from the thing.
Otherwise, Yuri is roaming the area, taking it all in and pondering the question what next?
Also the question 'where is the food' because he is still a growing boy in need of nutrition.

She catches herself, but just barely. Is that—?!]
Yuri?
[Of course, she would know him anywhere. It's been a struggle to make her peace with the fact that she would likely never see him again, not as she remembered him. If they'd had the opportunity to meet again, she really would have preferred he not see her like this.]

[Kyrie has seen her fair share of strange things in her life, so she reacts with outward calm when she and her fellow Mirrorbound are greeted by Nessie and Mhairi and is about to express her gratitude when Nessie summons chairs for them all.
Well. That's... unexpected.
She's quiet as she listens to the explanation of the situation, quietly dumbfounded as she tries to cope with everything that she's being told. She'd be lying if she said she didn't feel the stirrings of panic begin to swell; how can she be here when she's got so many people at home who rely on her? The boys, the townsfolk, Nero- this is awful!
When the talk of Bonds comes up, she really starts to panic, as the only people she’s ever been really, truly close to are either dead or a whole world away and she has no idea if she’ll ever see them again. She looks around the room at everyone else, wondering if they are feeling as worried as she is about everything. Is anyone here going to become a close enough friend to forge a Bond with?
She listens to everything she’s told, asking a question herself when she’s allowed, but once it’s all wrapped up, she lingers with the others, offering whoever she makes eye-contact with a shy smile.]
It all seems a bit hard to believe, doesn’t it?
Exploring the town
[There's something strange about leaving somewhere in the middle of summer and then suddenly you find yourself somewhere new in full autumn. Kyrie will concede that it's a very pretty place to be, different from Fortuna in its architecture, but there's something comfortingly familiar about cobblestones under the feet.
She's not really sure what she's doing out on her own, other than trying to get her bearings and explore. It’s a good opportunity to people watch too, and as she does she finds that she feels oddly lonely, even though she's surrounded by a whole town full of people. Perhaps she ought to have stayed near the Coven, but she’d felt the need to create some space for herself, get out and clear her thoughts before trying to find somewhere to live. That seems the least daunting priority to her ahead of finding someone to make a Bond with.
The thought of that makes her nervous. It’s not that she’s afraid of making new friends and building relationships with people, but Bonds sound like something so much more serious and the idea of forging something like that in so short a period of time, it’s... well, terrifying.
And the only people she’s ever been really, truly close to are either dead or a whole world away and she has no idea if she’ll ever see them again.
That thought is enough to send such a crushing wave of grief to her gut that she finds herself tearing up unexpectedly, and immediately swipes at her eyes. This is ridiculous, she should pull herself together.
Maybe she should go back to the others and regroup... only she’s completely turned herself around and has no idea how to get back.
Oh well, time to ask the closest person who doesn’t seem too busy!]
Excuse me? I’m sorry to bother you, could you perhaps tell me the best way to get back to the Coven?
Under New Management
[If there’s one thing Kyrie knows how to do, it’s wrangle small children. After a few days settling in, she finds herself needing to occupy herself with something and helping out at the orphanage is something that seems tailor made for her.
It seems that all children, whether they're human, witch or monster, share that same inexhaustible energy and ability to tear around yelling, and for getting into trouble. Kyrie is supervising at the park, but she's busy calming down a sobbing little faun girl who's pointing at a tree where another little faun boy seems to be clinging to one of the higher branches in absolute terror.]
Ssh, Gurri, it's alright. We'll find a way to help him out.
[It looks an awful lot like there's a small faun boy stuck up a tree, and Kyrie is looking slightly frazzled as she looks around for someone to help out.]
Is anybody any good at climbing trees?

Noctis Lucis Caelum | Final Fantasy XV | Turnskin | OTA
[It's been a while since Noctis last stepped out of his mirror. About a year, and so it's a bit of a strange event for him.
He also doesn't so much step out as tumble gracelessly onto the wooden floor, a rather large and ornate sword tumbling out near him.]
I'm...back?
[And apparently less a few appendages, as his ears feel normal on the side of his head and there's no tail attached to his backside anymore. He's totally just sitting on the floor checking himself out, don't mind him.]
Welcome Party
[There's not much for Noctis at the welcoming. He's done this before, so he doesn't really have many questions. His presence there is mainly to figure out if anything has drastically changed that he needs to know about.
It hasn't, really, and so he's hanging out looking supremely bored as he waits for a Witch to be free so he can see whether he's suddenly developed an ability to use this world's magic or not.]
Residential area
[After getting his bearings once again, he's heading for where he knows the house he was living in is. To him, it's been maybe two hours, but he's not sure how long it's been here. His watch is in his pocket--he stuck it there right away and hasn't looked at it yet--and so he hasn't checked what day it is.
Hopefully at least someone he knows is still around.]
Wildcard
[One can find Noctis around in the Coven or Haven areas for a while after his arrival. Feel free to start something here if you'd prefer.]
residential area
and the welcome wagon was even more mind-numbingly boring than last time.
so, it goes without saying that Steak doesn't necessarily realise he isn't the only member of the household who disappeared and returned in these last couple of months. not until he's circling the residential area and notices a familiar face without any of the changes which were there before.
(looks like he's not the only one who'll probably be dealing with all this bullshit again, at least.) )
... Noctis!
( thank God Red Wine gave him the name, it had been lost among the myriad flashbacks currently plaguing his mind. )
You returned as well, huh?
( logically, he knows, that it could be chalked up to little more than coincidence, but given the strange way Aefenglom works, who really knows? )
