OPEN Second day of the full moon
Luckily for her the delicate limbs had hardened enough for her to move properly by nightfall.]
a. Oh lawd she coming
[The first port of call was testing the new limbs. The idea brought a strange sense of giddiness to the fae, one she hadn’t felt for a while. Her second full moon? Except it was stronger now, she wasn’t as grounded. Restrained by her own lack of flight.
… Okay.
That’s a lie. While new wings meant one could learn how to fly, it did not make them an expert on it. And while Mikasa’s iridescent wings were large enough to propel her into the air. She was still heavy and well mantids weren’t built for flight.
So that sure was 70kg of fae barrelling through the air…]
b. Get your feet wet
[A bit battered and a bit bruised from her test flights she’d given up, and fallen into her old full hobby. Running around aimlessly, almost skipping as she danced around. Like the days before she’d gotten her bond to restrain her… What was Tendou doing? She wasn’t sure, it was just a brief passing thought that disappeared almost as soon as it appeared. She kept swiftly dodging around.
Until she hears a splash. Pausing her run to look at the water she’d trod in. Where had she gotten too? A lake in a park? Someone’s garden pond? She might have climbed a fence in her rush. Either way, she was tilting her head to peer down at the reflection of herself and the moons ripple.]
c. time to go-! -semi nsfw because bra but nothing more than that
[Or maybe it was later into the night and she’d gotten to a more secluded spot. One where the overgrowth might have hidden someone shorter. She’d done this before when she was much younger. Gone swimming in the stream near her parents’ house. Had she swam properly since then? No. Other than the occasional unpleasant training exercise she couldn’t think of a time she’d been in the water for the fun of it.
The beach..? It had been fun for a moment. Even if her difficulty panicking had been unnerving for a moment, it had been worth it for Armin’s laugh but then…
She huffs. And the plain shirt had been tossed over a nearby branch as the fae stood on the shore in her trousers and sports bra. Then she hears a twig snap or catches a scent that wasn’t there before. There’s a droning noise, her wings flickering into motion.
Not that she got very far or even very high…
That is one impressive splash as her body just slams into the water though. For a moment it’s silent… Another few seconds pass, then her head breaks the surface gasping for air, hair in her eyes. Then she’s paddling, wings giving another small buzz to propel her forward. It’s a sad, slow swim, her feet were still covered by her boots, but she was gradually bobbing along.
…Mikasa youR SHIRT!]
A!
Oof-! Hey, y'okay? What's with- [Actually, is he okay? Yeah, yeah, he's fine, giving a dizzy sort of waving at her, meaning the wings by it] -this new deal?
no subject
She was doing it wrong. Very wrong, but he was going to get a close-up view of the new limbs as he blocks off her faceplant. It would have been an impressive one if you know, her nose hadn't been the crumple zone.]
Okay...[It's mumbled into him, where she'd just kinda landed. Wings giving another useless flap before she rolls off to sit next to his downed body.
Blinking at him. She felt better than okay really. For the first time in months she hadn't been starving during the full moon. The wave at her, makes her look over her shoulder, trying to see what he's motioning.
Then he says new. And there's only one new thing.] They grew yesterday.
[And in this place. That explained everything!]
no subject
And you're already flyin' around on them? No wonder you're crashing. [how very polite of you, Soren]
no subject
How long should I wait before I can fly on them then? They're dry, and they feel strong enough. [Was it a little childish? Maybe. It'd been a long time before she'd been in the air. Her element really. She hadn't realised how much she missed it and being able to use her gear until now. The wings weren't the same. But it was the closest she'd had since the familiar metal started to burn.]
...I'm not doing as bad as I did in the dream before.
[Where she'd gone splat into a tree.]
no subject
If they feel alright, they're probably fine. But, but, but! You should really start smaller than throwing yourself around like that. Or go out into a big open field maybe! [not a park or street corner or wherever in the city Soren stumbled upon her]

Patience was key in deciding her next move.]

Then the feet pull back, going back to shore, not leaving though.
A thud as boots leave feet, a...wet slapping noise as the damp socks are slung off onto a branch.
Then a pair of bare feet...bare exoskeleton feet enter the water, the chitin spreading on up into rolled-up trousers.
...
...Wiggles toes.]

But then something grips bother of her ankles lightly, the glow of two blue eyes piercing through just beneath the surface of the water before her head breaches through. ]
You should be more careful at night.
[ Alex looks different from their time in her memory, Darkened sclera, velvety black scales more prominent on her face and covering her arms and hands, and of course, the large tail beneath the water. Her eyes show some recognition as she stares up at the other woman’s face. ]
We’ve met...haven’t we?
no subject
Ah, the perks of wings like her's. She didn't need any build-up to take off, she could just go in little bursts. Granted she still hadn't gotten the hang of flying was hung in the air, legs dangling as she leaned her head down to see.
Mikasa had changed as well. Eyes shifting to solid black compound, magenta markings that shimmered, limbs fully covered in chitin. At least her hair and scar gave her away.]
You...[The eyes narrow.] The woman from the mirror dream?
[Had they given names? It was so long ago, the fae was in a daze from finally being able to fly that it didn't seem important.]
no subject
Alex. I..have wanted to apologize to you since then. Ah--
[ She shakes her head. ]
Mostly..I wanted to thank you. I know that was an awkward situation. But it was kind of you to try and help me. Have you been well since then?

C because he sees....
So of course, he rounds the corner and then, he sees... the unmistakable carapace of the woman he met on his first day here, bobbing up and down in the river. And sometimes, when she bobs, a couple of other things bob with her.]
H-h-h-huh wha... [WHY IS SHE SKINNY DIPPING??? Okay, it's just the bra, but the moon is bright and he is mesmerized, mouth hanging open enough to frame both of his long fangs.]
He sees 👀
The exclamation gets a flick of the ear. Then another buzz of those nice new wings. Shimmering from the water, fairy dust and magic that run through them. They weren't bright, she didn't have the magic for that. But they were strong enough to help her spin around in the water to look.
He gets a chirp then-] Huh?
[She's just going to tread waters, tilting her head at him. What to do? Go back to trying to hide? He'd already seen her, and he was just stood there? Was it safe to play?]
no subject
Oh, heeey!! Um, whatcha doing out here?
no subject
...Flying? [Not that she sounded 100% sure there. But to make her point, that droning noise starts again along with splashing. Her wings vibrating against the air to shove her up and out the water.
It's only by a foot before she just flops back into the water. An attempt was made.]
no subject
[Now neither of them are looking at each other. But he can still hear that buzz of wings pretty loudly.]
I don't think you had wings the last time we met. Did you?

maybe this is what he gets for dicking around in nature during a full moon.
in any case, he's upright again in a flash, switchblade already drawn (you know, just in case) because he's nowhere near as good at magic as he is at just stabbing things.
...hypothetically. ]

Just going to peer down at the person she crashed into now the offending branch had been broken and moved out of the way. Look out below.
Oh...It's just Levi.
Enjoy her unblinking black eyes staring at you tiny captain.]
no subject
Mikasa?
[ he immediately flips his blade back into its handle and returns it to wherever the hell it is that he hides it, secretly kind of glad he doesn't have to fight a giant bat or something. ]
...Flying already, I see.
[ he's actually impressed. ]
no subject
Hardly... [And she frowns. Giving it another buzz and she's down. The wings staying outstretched behind her...They were very different to something like a dragon or harpy. Lending themselves more to maneuverability and sudden bursts than soaring.] It's strange...being in the air after so long.
[More than six months now. She'd not been able to touch her gear for six months, let alone use it. ]
no subject
I'm sure it feels a lot different not having a bunch of clunky shit attached to you.

Mikasa, wait! It's me, Connor.

She'd only panic flung herself in at the noise of someone passing by...
Eventually, when she's grabbed, the swim attempt petters out. Just enough for her to hear the voice.] Oh...You're here.
[It was pointing out the obvious. She offers nothing else, only a flicker of her newly grown wings splashing against the water.]
no subject
Yes, I am.
[Well, obviously.]
I seem to find you in the water a lot... or maybe this time, it's more like you found me. But why jump in, anyway?
no subject
I heard someone...[Yes.
That is entirely the reason why she'd flung herself into the water to hide. Even though she could probably defend herself from most people.]
