[Closed] Snowball Fight!
Who: An idiot (Mira), a darkness child (Vanitas), a sleepy grandpa (Emet-Selch), and later on the crafting catte (Iryha)
When: During the Winter Storm Event
Where: House Darkness
What: Playing in the snow somehow turns into an all out snowball war
Warnings: Potential Shadowbringers spoilers but more than likely none. Dark weirdos being nerds.
[Of course there was warnings about the incoming storm. Everyone being told to stay inside and keep warm is what any sane or normal person would do in this situation. And yet there are some who are in the opposite direction. Such as one particular dark knight bundled outside in the front yard from head to toe in as much warmth as she could handle. Why is she outside in the freezing cold instead of curled up on a couch with a book and warm tea instead? Because she is bored. And being bored is always a bad thing when Mira was around. But the weather itself was a bit hectic that some activities could not be done without the risk of injury.
So that leads into what the woman is doing now: making very odd snow creatures in the front yard. Well, odd to anyone who isn't familiar with them. They're rough but Mira's more into alchemy, not art. As long as they have the shape and they look the part, then she's fine with it.
In fact, she's a little too preoccupied with making those weird things that anyone could possibly snap her out of her concentration even by the smallest greeting.]

Honestly... even your taunts are for children.
[Besides, how could he lose at something he wasn't participating in. And this game probably didn't have any rules anyway, how could there even be a loser?]
no subject
I would not say that...
[And seeing a good place to hit, Mira throws the snowball, aiming right for his rear. It's protected enough, it'll be fine.]
no subject
But Van is going for the back of the head. ]
no subject
Emet-Selch has no idea who aimed for what, and nor does he particularly care. He freezes mid-step, feeling the coldness of snow melting down the back of his neck. His head snaps back to stare at them, not- furious exactly, this was too harmless, too trivial for that.
But he was definitely pissed off. And while he could continue to retreat back into the house, the indignity of it all has him stop. Not that the Ascian was going to deign to just... pick up some snow to throw back. No.
With barely a gesture, half-a-dozen spears made of pure darkness appear in the air above them, wickedly sharp edges pointed in Mira and Vanitas' direction. With no word or further warning, they're fired a moment later, propelled downward in a burst of speed.
...to strike the ground around the pair, where they promptly explode, attempting to shower them in a wall of loose snow.]
no subject
And yet, once Mira learns what just happened...she laughs. Not a chuckle or a snicker, but actual laughter as she pulls herself up and wipes her glasses off. Naturally, she still has snow on her but that's the whole point as she brings her fists together.]
Now that was fun! Let's see if you can outdo yourself!
[She should not be encouraging this but there's a lot of things Mira should not do. But this? This is fun! Maybe she should try to use some spells for this as well.]
no subject
Probably why he doesn't immediately move when the wall of snow comes his way. It buries him, honestly. But when he pops his head out, he looks. Excited. ]
Teach me how to do that.
no subject
[Emet-Selch is not sure which reaction he's more exasperated by. But he was inclined to neither continue to participate, nor instruct. Seriously, what kind of reaction was that? Maybe he shouldn't have aimed for the ground....]
To both of you. Find someone else to bother.
no subject
[It's very much true as Mira smiles while adjusting one of those namazu arms into something much more round. Cannot waste good snow after all. Wonder if she can try using magic on this somehow.]
Not to mention, it can be some good practice for magical use.
no subject
[ No just isn't going to work here, Emet-Selch. In fact this is only working to fire Vanitas up more. Which means Emet-Selch is getting another snowball tossed his way.
No magic just yet. ]
no subject
[This one he sees coming- and by now, Emet-Selch more or less expected to have more things thrown at him- so he raises a shield up to deflect it, the snowball practically turning into a shower of sparks as it hits the translucent barrier.
And he just shakes his head at Vanitas afterward, as much surprised as he was annoyed at the insistence.]
And why- surely you can come up with something similar on your own.
no subject
[See: 'People bugging her to do the most mundane things'. Last time someone tricked her, she smashed his ale. Greedy lil shite. But while Emet is distracted by Vanitas, Mira takes her chance by hitting him with a double surprise snowball attack by basically using the poor fallen snow namazu's limbs. Thankfully she's only aiming for his back this time as she begins to use the fallen snow around her as some kind of makeshift barrier.
You two will have fun or so Halone help her!]
no subject
Vanitas balls up more snow, but that's not all. Where there had been one Vanitas, soon there are two others. He's been practicing and it's going to pan out one way or another. All of them disperse in different directions.
Only one of them is real, of course. So two of the snowballs now being fired at Emet-Selch won't find any target. But one will, right? ]
no subject
So Mira's poor namazu-arms land with a damp thud, and Emet-Selch takes an unwilling step forward from the impact. In response, another pair of darkness-crafted spears manifest over her head, fired down into whatever barrier she's trying to construct.
And at the same time he's distracted by- multiple Vanitas? Oh, that was interesting. Were they only illusion, or was there any substance to them? Given the short time and the whirling flurries, he couldn't discern if there were any tells to denote real from false, so he accepts the inevitable snowball impact, rather than try to defend from them all. A tactical sacrifice.
But underneath the snow, dark roots, almost like veins, extend swiftly from Emet-Selch towards each of the Vanitas' positions. The snow is churned up in their path, and while the Ascian attempted to direct most of the spell's energy towards the snow. Well. It'll probably sting a little to get struck by.]

[It's too late to try and go inside to grab some of her experimental potions from her room but first things first, she needs to dodge those spears and if it meant sacrificing the barrier to do so, well, she's willing as she rolls out of dodge. Literally rolling, snow going everywhere around her. Nope nope, that's NOT the kind of spear she likes thank you very much.
Ok, she needs to find a way to counter those dark spears and she has to wonder about possibly using the snow around her as such. Ice and snow magic exist after all so maybe she could...? Wait, it's a bloody snowball fight, not a battle to the death. She just needed to find a way to distract him long enough. Hmmm, could it be possible to use winds and snow together?
And there is quite a bit of snow already on the roof...]
no subject
Which means the real one is dodging. The illusions? Well those just sort of disappear.
Looks like he is going to also have to get a little creative, huh? ]
no subject
And since his attacks seemed effective enough, there was no reason not to continue with more of the same. If Mira wanted his participation, she'd better not have any complaints with his methods, as another pair of spears are fired towards her feet, sending up more clouds of snow.
And if Vanitas wanted to learn, then by example would have to do. As soon as the true one was revealed, a few more spears are fired in his direction, creating a localized blizzard when they explode, considering all the snow that's thrown into the air.]
no subject
Wait a second.
She may not have her gun BUT she can try to use wind magic to do the same thing. She runs from the spears, keeping herself on her toes as the Warrior holds her hands together, hoping and praying that her magic will work for this particular moment. Mira can feel the trace of wind between her fingers as the ball begins to take shape, not taking in how proud she should be at her realization and instead throws it hard, aiming at the rooftop than Emet. It spins and swirls on the structure, building snow as it goes along before it spreads, connecting with the cold powdery substance as it falls down like a waterfall.
Sorry Emet, you're in the way of it. Maybe Vanitas as well but someone may dodge it. Who knows. Either way, enjoy more snow as it starts to come down and quite possibly bury you.]
no subject
What he doesn't like is being on the defensive for so long. For an old man who doesn't want to play childish games, Emet-Selch sure is putting forth some effort, huh? It's also making him realize he definitely needs to work on other sorts of magic too.
Right now though? He's running out of the way of that little rooftop avalanche. ]
no subject
...And then everything is dark and cold and damp. It was hard to know what direction was up, what had happened to him, and what had he ever done to deserve this.
From above, it probably looked as though he'd vanished completely, crushed by an absolutely massive amount of snow. Because that's exactly what had occurred. It's more than a minute before there's any sort of movement from the snow drift at all, flashes of- well, darkness- emanating from within it, getting gradually closer to the surface. Like a winterly volcano, the top layer finally explodes in a flurry, revealing a half-frozen Ascian.
And because of the size of his body, it was difficult for him to clamber back on top of all of the- now quite loosely packed- snow, his efforts only crushing it beneath him instead. And rather than continue to struggle, he just. Gives up for the time being, settling for being cold and iced over but at least not buried. This was where he lived now.]
no subject
She got him!
At first, Mira couldn't help but let out a cheer for her plan actually working. She finally managed to get an attack in and have it be enough for a distraction. It just happened to be too good because there's no sign of the ascian's counterattack anywhere. Was that the end of it? Uh oh, did she...go too far? Mira gulps and halfway runs over but the sudden explosion makes her duck behind one of the remaining namazu and sees that Emet is very much alive and well but probably cold.
An..ascicle if you will. It makes Mira giggle before heading over to him, this time with no magic. Looks easy enough to dig out. Maybe.]
Suppose we can call it then? I'll get you out.
no subject
But he's watching where Emet-Selch should be and there's... Nothing? Oh! Nevermind. Bursts of Darkness. So the guy had been buried? Vanitas snorts when Mira starts heading over that way. ]
We were just getting started though.
[ Is this the fun that people have been telling him about? Okay Vanitas isn't going to analyze anything just yet. Instead he looks where Emet-Selch is just sort of lingering. ]
You sure we can't just bury him? Maybe he'll come back in the Spring.
[ Van snorts and starts to pile the snow up at the top of Emet-Selch's newfound home. He is totally making a tombstone. ]
no subject
Even so, there's surprisingly little anger coming through over their tether. Mostly exasperation, fatigue, and the typical levels of unhappiness. Once he had time to process everything, he might even be a little impressed with her ingenuity. Right now though, he just shrugs, about to acquiesce, when Vanitas--
--was starting to bury him anew?
Even that doesn't get more than a deep sigh from the Ascian, and a look that conveys his feelings of: 'Really? Really?']
I can't say I'm entirely against the idea of hibernating....
no subject
[She cannot feel any big changes of emotion through their Bond so Mira will call that a success. While she looks at the progress of getting Emet out of the newly made snowbank, she can feel snow piling on them both and yelps.]
Looks like someone has had fun after all.
[Nope, gonna dig more or if it comes to it, use some dark fire to speed up the process.]
no subject
Who? Him? Me?
[ Because the idea of fun had always been sort of lost on him? Bah. What does that matter. The more Mira works, the more Vanitas decides to use his own blizzard magic to create more flurries to stall her progress. ]
no subject
Which gets a slightly disgruntled sound from him.]
Just... pull me up, Mira, I don't think setting me on fire is going to work.
[Surely she's strong enough to drag a cooperative Garlean-bodied Ascian from his wintery tomb, even with the forces of Vanitas interfering.]
