[Closed] Snowball Fight!

Who: An idiot (Mira), a darkness child (Vanitas), a sleepy grandpa (Emet-Selch), and later on the crafting catte (Iryha)
When: During the Winter Storm Event
Where: House Darkness
What: Playing in the snow somehow turns into an all out snowball war
Warnings: Potential Shadowbringers spoilers but more than likely none. Dark weirdos being nerds.

[Of course there was warnings about the incoming storm. Everyone being told to stay inside and keep warm is what any sane or normal person would do in this situation. And yet there are some who are in the opposite direction. Such as one particular dark knight bundled outside in the front yard from head to toe in as much warmth as she could handle. Why is she outside in the freezing cold instead of curled up on a couch with a book and warm tea instead? Because she is bored. And being bored is always a bad thing when Mira was around. But the weather itself was a bit hectic that some activities could not be done without the risk of injury.

So that leads into what the woman is doing now: making very odd snow creatures in the front yard. Well, odd to anyone who isn't familiar with them. They're rough but Mira's more into alchemy, not art. As long as they have the shape and they look the part, then she's fine with it.

In fact, she's a little too preoccupied with making those weird things that anyone could possibly snap her out of her concentration even by the smallest greeting.]

So I am starting to learn...

[ As soon as she does, Van's Flood comes dashing right in. Don't worry. Blue is its natural color. However it does look like there is snow on its body and the Flood is shaking it off. Sorry about the floor. ]

As you can see it's not super big. Dog-sized.

[...What an odd creature. The Ascian frowns skeptically in its direction.]

Is there any reason why it has to come inside?

[The complaint is mostly out of habit.]

If I am stuck in here then it will also stay in here. It'll run out when the weather clears up.

[ And then it will continue to do what Floods do. Mostly. Mira can think it's cute all she wants. It's going to make its way to Vanitas and... What is that. What is that thing on Van's lap? ]

Just how long will this last anyway?

We should be well stocked, in any case, even with extra guests.

[Already resigning himself to this, though he does keep an eye on the strange thing. Hopefully it would be no worse than Mira's cat. Maybe the pets could entertain each other.]

Unless we're trapped here for a month. Or permanently.

[Optimist.]

You say that... But I bet you just jinxed us in some way.

[ And, of course, the Flood in return is kind of trying to poke at the gaelkitten. Van, of course, just makes a disgusted face. ]

So long as our newcomers can be quiet, perhaps I will sleep through it....

[Though he doesn't share in Vanitas' natural disgust for the Flood, the Ascian still regards it dubiously.]

[ The Unversed is startled, but it doesn't react in a hostile manner at least. Which is... Strange to see this interaction. Usually his emotions are aggressive when not put to a certain task. ]

"That bad" huh? So your luck isn't good at the very least.

[...Yeah, Emet-Selch is just going to stay out of that argument, just sighing and shaking his head slightly. If anything, Mira and the other Warriors struck him as being profoundly lucky, considering the absurd things they'd accomplished. That they survived, against all odds. On the other hand, they had an equal amount of tragedy to go with it...

...On balance, this was probably not the most fortunate of households.]

Should I be asking for context?

[ He isn't questioning why that is a thing that happened. Just, you know, the tempering idea he gets. Primal? Not so much.

And it sounds like there is a story there. ]

Which primal was it this time? You've come up against quite a few....

[As though it weren't the fault of Ascians for her being in that situation to start with.]

And how fortunate you managed to escape with your wits intact.

[personal profile] darkcharge 2019-12-29 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
What, exactly, is a Primal?

[ Because yeah none of that sounds entirely pleasant. The problem is Vanitas doesn't have any sort of frame of reference for this "Ifrit." ]

A god born of prayer and sacrifice. Zodiark and Hydaelyn were the first, but there's others- much smaller others.

[And because he sees nothing wrong with admitting it--]

...Purely because my compeers and I have shared the knowledge of how to create one with various, generally disadvantaged, groups throughout history.

Because you and yours generally feed off of the chaos. Because you need that strife in some form or another.

[ Either as a distraction to keep people from discovering what they are really up to or because it will help with the imbalance. This is what makes the most sense to Vanitas at any rate. ]

And the others?

[The kid catches on quick; the Ascian nods lightly.]

More-or-less. Individually, they're not terribly powerful. But they can be continually resummoned- leaving those few who can handle them with their hands quite full.
darkcharge: (186)

[personal profile] darkcharge 2019-12-30 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
Other than just creating problems and tempering people... Are they really such a planetary crisis? If all they really do is create followers and can be resummoned over and over... What's the point in actually defeating them?

[personal profile] unsundered 2019-12-30 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
[It wasn't a bad point; the whole situation was deliberately engineered to be futile. Each primal's defeat was (usually) just part of the plan. It led to more resentment, more summonings, after all. No one ever bothered to touch the underlying cause.

The Ascian looks over to Mira, expression a bit smug.]

Well? Some nonsense about saving mortal lives no doubt, or the drain it puts on Hydaelyn.

People are weak and most of them get what they deserve anyway.

[ Just... Van's two cents there. He's never ad a positive opinion about people anyway. ]

If they don't have the power they need to stop these things from happening, then that's on them.
