[Closed] Snowball Fight!
Who: An idiot (Mira), a darkness child (Vanitas), a sleepy grandpa (Emet-Selch), and later on the crafting catte (Iryha)
When: During the Winter Storm Event
Where: House Darkness
What: Playing in the snow somehow turns into an all out snowball war
Warnings: Potential Shadowbringers spoilers but more than likely none. Dark weirdos being nerds.
[Of course there was warnings about the incoming storm. Everyone being told to stay inside and keep warm is what any sane or normal person would do in this situation. And yet there are some who are in the opposite direction. Such as one particular dark knight bundled outside in the front yard from head to toe in as much warmth as she could handle. Why is she outside in the freezing cold instead of curled up on a couch with a book and warm tea instead? Because she is bored. And being bored is always a bad thing when Mira was around. But the weather itself was a bit hectic that some activities could not be done without the risk of injury.
So that leads into what the woman is doing now: making very odd snow creatures in the front yard. Well, odd to anyone who isn't familiar with them. They're rough but Mira's more into alchemy, not art. As long as they have the shape and they look the part, then she's fine with it.
In fact, she's a little too preoccupied with making those weird things that anyone could possibly snap her out of her concentration even by the smallest greeting.]

She got him!
At first, Mira couldn't help but let out a cheer for her plan actually working. She finally managed to get an attack in and have it be enough for a distraction. It just happened to be too good because there's no sign of the ascian's counterattack anywhere. Was that the end of it? Uh oh, did she...go too far? Mira gulps and halfway runs over but the sudden explosion makes her duck behind one of the remaining namazu and sees that Emet is very much alive and well but probably cold.
An..ascicle if you will. It makes Mira giggle before heading over to him, this time with no magic. Looks easy enough to dig out. Maybe.]
Suppose we can call it then? I'll get you out.
no subject
But he's watching where Emet-Selch should be and there's... Nothing? Oh! Nevermind. Bursts of Darkness. So the guy had been buried? Vanitas snorts when Mira starts heading over that way. ]
We were just getting started though.
[ Is this the fun that people have been telling him about? Okay Vanitas isn't going to analyze anything just yet. Instead he looks where Emet-Selch is just sort of lingering. ]
You sure we can't just bury him? Maybe he'll come back in the Spring.
[ Van snorts and starts to pile the snow up at the top of Emet-Selch's newfound home. He is totally making a tombstone. ]
no subject
Even so, there's surprisingly little anger coming through over their tether. Mostly exasperation, fatigue, and the typical levels of unhappiness. Once he had time to process everything, he might even be a little impressed with her ingenuity. Right now though, he just shrugs, about to acquiesce, when Vanitas--
--was starting to bury him anew?
Even that doesn't get more than a deep sigh from the Ascian, and a look that conveys his feelings of: 'Really? Really?']
I can't say I'm entirely against the idea of hibernating....
no subject
[She cannot feel any big changes of emotion through their Bond so Mira will call that a success. While she looks at the progress of getting Emet out of the newly made snowbank, she can feel snow piling on them both and yelps.]
Looks like someone has had fun after all.
[Nope, gonna dig more or if it comes to it, use some dark fire to speed up the process.]
no subject
Who? Him? Me?
[ Because the idea of fun had always been sort of lost on him? Bah. What does that matter. The more Mira works, the more Vanitas decides to use his own blizzard magic to create more flurries to stall her progress. ]
no subject
Which gets a slightly disgruntled sound from him.]
Just... pull me up, Mira, I don't think setting me on fire is going to work.
[Surely she's strong enough to drag a cooperative Garlean-bodied Ascian from his wintery tomb, even with the forces of Vanitas interfering.]
no subject
[Her answer is quick and now she is trying to do two things at once: keep Vani's snow off her and free Emet from his snow prison. Maybe she's overthinking it and fire may be making it worse? Mira sighs and her flames vanish in smoke, instead maneuvering Emet so that she would be gripping his waist and he would be able to hold onto her arms if needed.]
Alright, let us see if this time I can hold it-!
[Please don't let Emet fall on her as she starts to pull, completely distracted with her task at hand.]
no subject
[ Naturally he's going to pick up on that. Then Vanitas gets a rather fun idea. Flurries are one thing. But what about solid ice? Surely all that fire has made something of a wet puddle at Mira's feet.
So what would happen if Van places his hands on the ground and just freezes that surface solid? ]
no subject
But between Vanitas' ice, and the small bit of melting his own body heat had caused, creating a thin layer of slippery water underneath him- some amount of sliding was inevitable. Except 'some amount' turned out to be 'quite a lot, actually', as his purchase gave out entirely, no matter how hard he scrambled. And reflex meant he grabbed onto Mira harder, so when the Ascian finally tumbles backwards, there was really no other option but to drag her down with him.
So with a stifled sound of protest, he tumbles heavily backwards, into the snow, in an oddly reversed version of when she had attempted to haul him out of some bushes.]
no subject
Technically it has but only in reverse; this time, her smaller form landing on the ascian with a thud as snow spreads around from the impact.]
Hey, are you alright?
[It doesn't matter how close they were right now, noses almost touching, Mira's mind is more focused on if he is hurt in some sort of way minus any ego bruising.]
no subject
What are the going to do? Is Emet-Selch going to get a little irritated and put out? ]
no subject
He certainly makes no move to remove Mira from himself, resting a hand lightly at her side, staring up at her with clear eyes. At her question, Emet-Selch sighs, barely a breath against her face.]
--Inclined to join me in hibernating after all?
no subject
She won't lie. That does sound appealing and he can sense it through the tether. But alas, there is something else needed that they do not have.]
Should we not be warm for such a thing? And perhaps inside.
[Ah well, they should try to get up and out of the snow before Vanitas decides to cover them up. Mira will try to scramble off and up, watching the ice very carefully because fuck ice.]
no subject
I regret any and all choices I've made right now. Please take your flirting inside.
no subject
Being inside does have certain... advantages.
[And if it disturbed Vanitas, so much the better, really.
But as he gets back to his feet again, once Mira has clambered off, Emet-Selch decides to just cut to the chase and avoid the treacherous ice entirely (as well as some undignified scrambling). Taking Mira's hand, without warning, he teleports them both to the step directly outside the front door.
He would have just brought them directly inside, but leaving children unattended in the yard probably broke some kind of rule.]
no subject
Thanks for that.
[Especially since the snow is falling harder than it has a few minutes ago. If this keeps up, it will be hard to get out and someone may get stuck. Which leads to something Emet may not appreciate but Mira just cannot ignore it as she gestures to Vanitas.]
Come on. You are not staying out here in this weather.
no subject
Only to hear Mira say that he's what? Going inside? It is going to be a repeat of the expression he had on his face earlier with the sweater. That blank look of confusion, of not knowing what to do because Vanitas has never been in such situations.
Thus he is unprepared and unguarded in these moments. ]
I'm. Not?
no subject
Especially when Mira seems inclined to invite the stray inside. But Emet-Selch knew better than to try to protest, sighing again at the offer. Well, demand.]
Collecting pets, Mira? [First her cat, and now this.] Convince him however you like. I'm heading in, anyway.
[Squeezing Mira's hand before letting go, he opens the front door and goes inside, only stopping to shake off whatever loose snow he'd accumulated.]
no subject
[There is not really any protest from the ascian and Mira's glad for it. The more important matter is getting the two to warm up once the younger is inside.]
You should hurry. The snow is building and it would not go well if you became frozen to the spot. If anything, the idea of staying warm may be better than cold and wet.
[Get in before she comes over and yeets you.]
no subject
He crosses his arms over his chest. Apparently he is debating about the pros and cons of doing as Mira says. ]
I can take care of myself.
[ Just so she is aware of this as he decides it isn't ultimately worth it to fight her on the issue. So fine. Mira will get what she wants as Van sort of trudges up to the doorstep. ]
no subject
And Emet-Selch is already creating a few extra towels and blankets, to try and dry off as much as possible, and wrap up in afterward, as he heads to the couch, collapsing heavily onto it.
Even Vanitas might get a large fluffy towel conjured up to land on his head as soon as he makes it past the door frame. Kid didn't need to drip over everything.]
no subject
[But she's glad that he came in of his own free will. Once inside, Mira will shut the door because gods, it is getting colder than Halone's frozen teats out there. She's about to grab some extra blankets from the closetspace when there's already some out. The dark knight cannot recall leaving any out before going out but then seeing Emet practically flop on the couch with some on, it makes sense. Of course he'd create some.]
Well then, suppose I should make some tea if the essentials are already taken cared of. Go ahead and sit down, Vanitas. Mind Breezy if you see her; she does get cranky if awoken.
[On a thick armchair is a small tuff of fur wrapped in green in the corner, snoozing away as Mira goes into the kitchen to make some Ishgardian tea. The good stuff, mind you.]
no subject
Welp. Not sitting there.
So you know he is going to do what teens do. Sit on the floor. ]
no subject
Emet-Selch barely spares him a glance, concerned more with warming up and not moving.]
no subject
Halone forfend, I fear no one will be leaving the house at least for tonight. Thankfully we will not be hurting for comforts.
[Meanwhile, the gaelkitten yawns and rolls over, waking up and blinking her eyes. Meanwhile, Breezy cannot help but notice someone...new in the house. She'll go bug the tall burrowed man later as she lets out a meow, standing on her hindlegs and trying to walk over to Vanitas. Trying because only two steps in, she falls on her face and yowls. Hey weird new mortal, give her attention!]
