[Closed] Snowball Fight!
Who: An idiot (Mira), a darkness child (Vanitas), a sleepy grandpa (Emet-Selch), and later on the crafting catte (Iryha)
When: During the Winter Storm Event
Where: House Darkness
What: Playing in the snow somehow turns into an all out snowball war
Warnings: Potential Shadowbringers spoilers but more than likely none. Dark weirdos being nerds.
[Of course there was warnings about the incoming storm. Everyone being told to stay inside and keep warm is what any sane or normal person would do in this situation. And yet there are some who are in the opposite direction. Such as one particular dark knight bundled outside in the front yard from head to toe in as much warmth as she could handle. Why is she outside in the freezing cold instead of curled up on a couch with a book and warm tea instead? Because she is bored. And being bored is always a bad thing when Mira was around. But the weather itself was a bit hectic that some activities could not be done without the risk of injury.
So that leads into what the woman is doing now: making very odd snow creatures in the front yard. Well, odd to anyone who isn't familiar with them. They're rough but Mira's more into alchemy, not art. As long as they have the shape and they look the part, then she's fine with it.
In fact, she's a little too preoccupied with making those weird things that anyone could possibly snap her out of her concentration even by the smallest greeting.]

[ What happens if he puts his hand on the kitten? Is it going to do something? ]
Sometimes when they go from star to star, their form changes to match. For whatever reason, Ventus was shrunk to about the size of a mouse. So were my Unversed, strangely.
no subject
[An unfamiliar term. But much about the way that universe worked was unfamiliar.]
So you can change form as well- but not control it? Not a very useful ability, then.... [Though this cat seems entirely safe, and thankfully not sitting on him.]
no subject
Unversed...are they like the Heartless and Nobodies you told me about during the masquerade?
[Meanwhile, Mira will reach over and put a finger on Breezy's head, stroking her gently. All she gets in reply is a slow blink but no claws. Petting the kitty is good, just go for the belly.]
no subject
[ Van takes a moment to observe Mira and what she does to the ball of fur. So he'll scritch her head as well. ]
Unversed are nothing like the other two groups. They don't seek to devour the Light like the Heartless or have a hierarchy like Nobodies do. Unversed feed off of negative emotions either by sniffing them out naturally or by creating enough trouble to stir up those emotions. And they are very good at it.
[ He clicks his tongue, wondering if Breezy will ever get up. ]
If I'm going to be stuck here, you'll have to let one inside eventually. It's on its way but I can't really pinpoint where.
no subject
Though the idea of some sort of familiar or arcane entity that could feed off of negative emotion- well. It would certainly eat well around him. That was disconcerting in a strange way, and more relevantly, it was apparently heading there. To join the rest of the menagerie.
His sigh carries a note of disgust.]
...This is why you shouldn't let in strays, Mira. They'll just attract more of the same.
no subject
Strange that you mention that.
[She went there. But this unversed creature coming this way, not gonna lie and say she isn't a bit concerned. Negative emotions and there is a thousands year old sorcerer and two Abyss divers with their own issues. How much chaos will this cause as she turns to face Vani.]
You are able to sense it?
no subject
Until one crossed over, that is. ]
Don't worry. You'll be rid of this "stray" once Mira stops fussing.
[ At least that's his plan anyway. But he turns his attention back to Mira and the now purring catte in his lap. ]
Yes. I can sense them. They are a part of me, after all. My manifested emotions.
no subject
While continuing to give thought to this whole Unversed business.]
Emotions brought into life. Can you control this process? Can you control them?
[This is getting more dubious by the moment, and all the use of plurals has him wonder if a literal flood of these things are going to turn up and overrun the place.]
no subject
The unversed that is looking for you now...how long has it been in the city?
[Humor her if you will.]
no subject
It arrived when all the random stuff came through.
[ Then Van directs his attention to Emet-Selch. Why is it no one really thinks to ask these questions where he comes from? ]
This one is influenced by this world so my control over it is minimal. Under normal circumstances, yes, I can create them at will and control them. As Unversed are my emotions, they are an extension of myself.
[ And all that it implies, of course. Not that, again, anyone seems to understand what those implications are apparently. Which is why Vanitas cares little if people know about it or not.
Might also explain why he has zero coping skills too. Why he can go from fine to absolutely sparking in 3 seconds flat. ]
no subject
And considering the loss of our powers within this world, I'm assuming you can no longer create them, then.
[Mostly just reaffirming to himself. So there's like to be only the one running around, not a fleet. That was good, at least.]
So, if they're a deliberate manifestation of emotion... what happens when that can no longer occur?
[Is the creation of Unversed an outlet? Or is he just always an irritable kid, and creating pets out of it is just a simple ability, nothing more?]
no subject
Just don't call her mom to her face, it may make her double takeShe...honestly doesn't have much to add; Vanitas confirmed that the creature came from the mirrors and her question was answered. But she waits to listen to his answer for the current one. Was there more to creating these Unversed than what they know of? All Mira can do is wait to hear the answer.]
no subject
You saw what happens.
[ When he threw that charm at Emet-Selch's head and stormed off. Vanitas had been crackling with unchecked lightning magic. Flies into a rage, really. ]
no subject
Though he does frown a bit at the memory. Vanitas had been quite- cruel, actually. But then, so had he.]
Ah, so you're normally better behaved than that.
[A thoughtful hum.]
But you're not currently so... volatile. Yet I would expect you to be much worse, if you can still no longer create these- entities. Did you find some other way to bleed off the excess?
no subject
Pray forgive me but I am a bit confused as to the example you speak of but the concept I can understand a bit.
[The kid feels a bit more like Fray than Mira first thought. And yet it does not stop her for putting a hand on Vanitas's head, letting her fingers pat him. A hug might end up chasing him away so small steps. Maybe.]
no subject
[ Oh he is absolutely cruel, but he doesn't lash out like that. Not unless Ventus is somehow involved. Vanitas is usually 100% in control of his actions and emotions... But one could argue that it is because he sheds them like a second skin and thus is usually devoid of them. ]
I threw something at the old man, Mira. There's probably a lot of charred remains of plants too.
[ It's not like he isn't going to own it. But the way that Vanitas speaks? Obviously he doesn't see anything wrong with it.
He doesn't really know why he's talking about it. Again, probably because no one thinks to ask these questions. Vanitas really isn't a liar. Cruel and terrible, but not really a liar. That and this is what it is. Though Emet-Selch's comment about him not being so volatile makes him shrug. ]
I deal with it. [ By starting fights and blowing up targets. Destroying anything really. And no one sees what he does when he's alone and there's nothing to distract him. ] And maybe the reason why I'm not currently is -
[ That's when Mira's hand is placed on his head. Vanitas absolutely flinches. Probably even startles the cat. You see, Vanitas should have been better guarded. This is what happens when one gets comfortable.
Because he's expecting to get hurt and hasn't quite realized the opposite is happening. ]
no subject
And he's not surprised at the lack of remorse nor shame over what had happened; he expected neither and felt neither himself. But it was interesting to find there was some sort of reason for Vanitas' sudden aggressive display- that it was more than just catching him at a bad moment. Having reasons for something was always nice.
Waiting for the rest of his response, Emet-Selch gives Mira a look at the obvious flinch. Why in the world would she prod the kid? What would that achieve? Unless she really was viewing Vanitas as another pet for her collection.]
You're spooking the boy, Mira.
no subject
My apologies, Vanitas. I was not trying to scare or cause you any harm.
[Meanwhile, Breezy did get spooked as she sits up but she doesn't try to leave. Would you leave a warm spot? Gaelkitten aside, Mira has to wonder if the boy knows what a positive action is. And if a simple headpat made him react as such...perhaps not.]
no subject
Obviously...
[ Look, he knows. Mira could have done so before plenty of times before now and she hasn't. Vanitas knows that.
But learned responses are that for a reason. ]
no subject
As you were saying?
[As though nothing at all had occurred.]
no subject
Nonetheless, Mira will let the boy continue. To some, it might sound heartless to ignore the concern but...well, she did not need to be shown again.]
no subject
Not calling attention to it, right now, might be for the best. While that may seem heartless and cold, Van isn't really in a place to deal with that sort of confrontation.
So maybe his fists are clenched just a little too tight, but it's enough of a distraction, at least. ]
I've lost it plenty of times if there's not something to distract me.
[ Snorts. ]
Why so interested anyway? You two are really the first people to actually ask about any of this.
no subject
It accomplished nothing at all.
Not that Emet-Selch felt much of anything in regards to Vanitas' display, apart from, perhaps, some vague recognition. This was just how things were.]
Idle curiosity, on my part.
[Easily enough spoken; Mira could say the nice things.]
Your condition and star are not uninteresting. And there's not much else to do in this place.
no subject
[That cannot be right. Surely someone had to have asked at some point? No one else was curious about emotional creatures coming from someone mainly from negative emotions? Or maybe Mira did have a tendency to gravitate to those with some kind of tie to emotions and power.]
I have to admit that I too am curious about it all. About you and where you come from.
no subject
[ Oh that sarcasm is quite thick isn't it? Vanitas snorts and rolls his eyes. ]
But yeah, the first. Unlike some heroes that defend the Light, my own don't really seem interested in the why's. Only how do we stop it.
[ A thing he might have spoken to Emet-Selch about before. ]
What I am curious about is how you two seem to not be at odds. How is it you two met?
