[Closed] Snowball Fight!
Who: An idiot (Mira), a darkness child (Vanitas), a sleepy grandpa (Emet-Selch), and later on the crafting catte (Iryha)
When: During the Winter Storm Event
Where: House Darkness
What: Playing in the snow somehow turns into an all out snowball war
Warnings: Potential Shadowbringers spoilers but more than likely none. Dark weirdos being nerds.
[Of course there was warnings about the incoming storm. Everyone being told to stay inside and keep warm is what any sane or normal person would do in this situation. And yet there are some who are in the opposite direction. Such as one particular dark knight bundled outside in the front yard from head to toe in as much warmth as she could handle. Why is she outside in the freezing cold instead of curled up on a couch with a book and warm tea instead? Because she is bored. And being bored is always a bad thing when Mira was around. But the weather itself was a bit hectic that some activities could not be done without the risk of injury.
So that leads into what the woman is doing now: making very odd snow creatures in the front yard. Well, odd to anyone who isn't familiar with them. They're rough but Mira's more into alchemy, not art. As long as they have the shape and they look the part, then she's fine with it.
In fact, she's a little too preoccupied with making those weird things that anyone could possibly snap her out of her concentration even by the smallest greeting.]

Only to hear Mira say that he's what? Going inside? It is going to be a repeat of the expression he had on his face earlier with the sweater. That blank look of confusion, of not knowing what to do because Vanitas has never been in such situations.
Thus he is unprepared and unguarded in these moments. ]
I'm. Not?
no subject
Especially when Mira seems inclined to invite the stray inside. But Emet-Selch knew better than to try to protest, sighing again at the offer. Well, demand.]
Collecting pets, Mira? [First her cat, and now this.] Convince him however you like. I'm heading in, anyway.
[Squeezing Mira's hand before letting go, he opens the front door and goes inside, only stopping to shake off whatever loose snow he'd accumulated.]
no subject
[There is not really any protest from the ascian and Mira's glad for it. The more important matter is getting the two to warm up once the younger is inside.]
You should hurry. The snow is building and it would not go well if you became frozen to the spot. If anything, the idea of staying warm may be better than cold and wet.
[Get in before she comes over and yeets you.]
no subject
He crosses his arms over his chest. Apparently he is debating about the pros and cons of doing as Mira says. ]
I can take care of myself.
[ Just so she is aware of this as he decides it isn't ultimately worth it to fight her on the issue. So fine. Mira will get what she wants as Van sort of trudges up to the doorstep. ]
no subject
And Emet-Selch is already creating a few extra towels and blankets, to try and dry off as much as possible, and wrap up in afterward, as he heads to the couch, collapsing heavily onto it.
Even Vanitas might get a large fluffy towel conjured up to land on his head as soon as he makes it past the door frame. Kid didn't need to drip over everything.]
no subject
[But she's glad that he came in of his own free will. Once inside, Mira will shut the door because gods, it is getting colder than Halone's frozen teats out there. She's about to grab some extra blankets from the closetspace when there's already some out. The dark knight cannot recall leaving any out before going out but then seeing Emet practically flop on the couch with some on, it makes sense. Of course he'd create some.]
Well then, suppose I should make some tea if the essentials are already taken cared of. Go ahead and sit down, Vanitas. Mind Breezy if you see her; she does get cranky if awoken.
[On a thick armchair is a small tuff of fur wrapped in green in the corner, snoozing away as Mira goes into the kitchen to make some Ishgardian tea. The good stuff, mind you.]
no subject
Welp. Not sitting there.
So you know he is going to do what teens do. Sit on the floor. ]
no subject
Emet-Selch barely spares him a glance, concerned more with warming up and not moving.]
no subject
Halone forfend, I fear no one will be leaving the house at least for tonight. Thankfully we will not be hurting for comforts.
[Meanwhile, the gaelkitten yawns and rolls over, waking up and blinking her eyes. Meanwhile, Breezy cannot help but notice someone...new in the house. She'll go bug the tall burrowed man later as she lets out a meow, standing on her hindlegs and trying to walk over to Vanitas. Trying because only two steps in, she falls on her face and yowls. Hey weird new mortal, give her attention!]
no subject
No one?
[ Just try to stop him after he warms up!
Sorry to Breezy, though. Vanitas just sort of stares at her. He's never seen a gaelkitten before, obviously, but a cat is a cat right? When she falls over, he kind of laughs? Because it's probably not the stupidest thing that's happened the last few hours.
But the indignant cry after is funny. ]
no subject
He'll be fine outside.
[Probably. It wouldn't be his problem, anyway. The Ascian also deliberately ignores the cat; he didn't particularly want to attract her attention.]
no subject
[She should be done with the tea in just about a minute...]
Besides, do either of you wish to truly test your endurance in this cold?
[Because Mira does not want to dig out two idiots for their poor decision making; that's her job as a Warrior, thank you very much. Meanwhile, the gaelkitten sits back up and shakes herself, blank expression looking at Vanitas and yowls again. Alas the owner is finishing up the tea as the kitten decides to annoy the guest and flops right onto him with a meow. You'll do, weird mortal as the clicking of mugs and the whistle of the kettle goes off, signaling that indeed a minute has passed and finally more warmth will be one its way. Mira doesn't even notice that Breezy has found a new napping place as she brings the warm drinks over, kettle included.
Look, the less trips she makes, the better in her mind.]
no subject
[ Doesn't matter if it is snow or unbearable heat. Vanitas has been fine before. Why would that change.
Right now though his eyes are on the kitten that just. Plops? In his lap. He glares at it, as is his default expression when something he doesn't like or doesn't understand occurs. What part of his person is inviting? ]
Mira. Your fuzzball is on me.
[ So come and get it and remove it. ]
no subject
[He lived there, for reasons that remained not entirely clear to him, and was finally back inside where he should've stayed from the beginning.]
If he wants to go, let him- how far he gets isn't our problem.
[Freeing a hand from its blanket nest, he waves off any and all concerns.]
no subject
If you must know...I will worry. No one should be outside when the weather is not in our favor.
[She knows the results on both a small and large scale...and what can happen as a result (hello Dusk Vigil). Vanitas can say how fine he will be but if everyone's natural abilities are gone in some way...it won't help. Mira knows how crazy it must be and her compassionate side has gotten her into trouble but it would be wrong not to do anything.
As for Breezy...well, just take the mug of nice Ishgardian tea and settle in. And when the other decides not to be lazy, there is a mug being poured for him too.]
Have you ever interacted with a cat before, Vanitas? Once one has chosen you as a bed, you cannot move.
no subject
I'm not weak or anything like that. It's just weather.
[ Because that has to be why. People must think that just because he's a teenager, still young, that he's some kind of weakling. Oh somewhere in the back of his mind he probably knows that this isn't the case. But Vanitas, of course, can't reconcile it.
But onto other things. Like this cat. ]
A cat tried to eat Ventus before. Other than that, no.
no subject
So he leans over to claim his own mug of tea instead, though for the time being, he mostly uses it to warm his hands, retreating back into his nest.]
--Is your friend actually a mouse? Or perhaps a small bird.
[This time he just addresses Vanitas instead; while he assumed said cat was likely larger than Mira's pet, it did lead to a strange mental image for a moment.]
no subject
[She remembers how he is mainly Darkness and yet somehow hasn't imploded but shhh. Meanwhile, Breezy simply yawns and uses her wings as a blanket, refusing to move. She can't do it, too cute.]
Was this cat the size of a coeurl by chance? There is no need to worry about Breezy wanting to eat you if that is the case.
no subject
[ What happens if he puts his hand on the kitten? Is it going to do something? ]
Sometimes when they go from star to star, their form changes to match. For whatever reason, Ventus was shrunk to about the size of a mouse. So were my Unversed, strangely.
no subject
[An unfamiliar term. But much about the way that universe worked was unfamiliar.]
So you can change form as well- but not control it? Not a very useful ability, then.... [Though this cat seems entirely safe, and thankfully not sitting on him.]
no subject
Unversed...are they like the Heartless and Nobodies you told me about during the masquerade?
[Meanwhile, Mira will reach over and put a finger on Breezy's head, stroking her gently. All she gets in reply is a slow blink but no claws. Petting the kitty is good, just go for the belly.]
no subject
[ Van takes a moment to observe Mira and what she does to the ball of fur. So he'll scritch her head as well. ]
Unversed are nothing like the other two groups. They don't seek to devour the Light like the Heartless or have a hierarchy like Nobodies do. Unversed feed off of negative emotions either by sniffing them out naturally or by creating enough trouble to stir up those emotions. And they are very good at it.
[ He clicks his tongue, wondering if Breezy will ever get up. ]
If I'm going to be stuck here, you'll have to let one inside eventually. It's on its way but I can't really pinpoint where.
no subject
Though the idea of some sort of familiar or arcane entity that could feed off of negative emotion- well. It would certainly eat well around him. That was disconcerting in a strange way, and more relevantly, it was apparently heading there. To join the rest of the menagerie.
His sigh carries a note of disgust.]
...This is why you shouldn't let in strays, Mira. They'll just attract more of the same.
no subject
Strange that you mention that.
[She went there. But this unversed creature coming this way, not gonna lie and say she isn't a bit concerned. Negative emotions and there is a thousands year old sorcerer and two Abyss divers with their own issues. How much chaos will this cause as she turns to face Vani.]
You are able to sense it?
no subject
Until one crossed over, that is. ]
Don't worry. You'll be rid of this "stray" once Mira stops fussing.
[ At least that's his plan anyway. But he turns his attention back to Mira and the now purring catte in his lap. ]
Yes. I can sense them. They are a part of me, after all. My manifested emotions.
