i. snowglobes and cafes ; purramid

a. [ it's not a bad job to have, by any means — being a barista is easy, dealing with customers is easy, and the pay is not bad. and the kittens are cute, of course!

one day, she brings something with her to work; a snowglobe that she sets at one of the counters, out of the way enough to not disturb the work, but close enough that she can see it during the days. inside the snowglobe, there's ocean waves crashing on its insides, as a ship with a lion's head at its front and a skull with a straw hat on it painted on its sails fights against the waves. all around it, snow keeps falling slowly. ]

b. [ when she's not taking a break with petting kittens, nami is actually, you know, doing her job as a barista. when a customer approaches her, she greets them with a beaming smile and, ]

Hi, what can I get you?

[ or, if it happens to be someone she already knows, ] Oh, hey, it's you!

[ ... politeness really isn't a pirate's strength, okay. ]

ii. all about onigashima ; the coven

[ in her free time, nami still attends magic classes, but spends her time training both physical fighting skills as well as magical. this particular day, she can be found sitting in a large courtyard after practising; there's scorch marks all over the ground. nami twirls her clima-tact in her hand idly... and upon seeing someone else enter the courtyard, she says, ]

Hey... what do you think it takes to defeat a really, really large dragon?

[ not that she's going to be the one fighting kaido... but if she can get her friends any pointers at all, that'd be great. ]

iii. behave, garden! ; nami's house

[ should anyone walk past a small, unassuming house that nami calls home, here, they might see that a patch of the garden is kept warm with spells even during winter, and there a patch of vegetables grows... in relative peace.

"relative", because sometimes, the vegetables in question require some encouragement. ]

Oi, stop that! You're supposed to be growing, not running around! Tangerine, stop chasing them!!

[ neither nami's sheep-like cauliflowers nor her cat seem to listen to her at all, running around her in a circle. eventually, she just sits down and sighs, leaning her chin on her hand. ]

Haaaahh.... I'm really not made to be a farmer.

iv. have you met sanji-kun? ; around the city ( note: responses come from both nami and sanji! )

[ whereas some months ago, nami would be seen on her own most of the time, nowadays it's not too rare to spot her accompanied by a slim, blonde man with a notably curly eyebrow. she bosses him around mercilessly, more often than not making him carry all the bags from their shopping trips... not that he seems to mind too much.

but should anyone run into them as they're out and about, especially if it's someone nami already knows, she's quick to greet them with a grin and a wave. ]

Hi! It's good to see you! Ah — [ then, glancing at her companion, ] This is Sanji-kun, our crew's cook! [ and from the bright, bright smile on her face, it's easy to see she's glad she's no longer the only straw hat in this world. ]

[ as the last thing she remembers from home is the start of the onigashima raid, nami isn't too sure how much of her new-found kunoichi skills she'll need, there... but they still need to save momo, and fight kaido's men, and the tobi roppo —

and whatever magic she has here... she won't be able to bring back with her. but other skills, physical skills? why shouldn't she be able to do those back home, too, if she arrived here with the skills she already had?

she remembers the woman she met when sanji-kun arrived, remembers finding out she's a kunoichi... and she thinks, she may not be shinobu-chan but she'll be good, for sure, and sends tsukuyo a message.

this is nami, it says, would you be willing to train me as a kunoichi? if that's okay, then let's meet at the coven after my magic classes!

and so she waits there, outside the building, hoping that tsukuyo shows up. ]

[ Tsukuyo has had little reason to venture too near the coven since she arrived, except perhaps in a snooping capacity in line with her stubbornness to find some way out of this place.

Lately though, she's been a little more preoccupied with the changes she's been going through. The initial irritation of feathers sprouting forth from her skin had been bad enough. Now though, every full moon she's finding herself with more and more alarming things to deal with.

Nami's message is a welcome distraction in all honesty. Being a kunoichi is something she understands, something from her home that she can still make sense of. Focusing on that for a while might provide some relief from the mounting realisation of her predicament and the fact she's going to have to get herself a bond at some point, despite her reluctance.

The blonde woman approaches, pipe in hand, taking advantage of the walk over to have a much needed smoke. ]

Nami, hi. I got yer message.

[ she's dragged him out with her for absolutely no good reason except to spend time with him — of course, she tells him that she needs to get some good throwing stars to practice with, and would he come along as he's an expert on weapons... but really, she could have managed on her own.

not that she thinks he would have refused to come with her, even if she hadn't given him an actual reason.

currently, they're on their way to a shop that sells smaller weapons, nami chattering along as they walk. ]

How's Li Mei doing? Did she like the toys? I got some for Tangerine, and she loved them, so I thought her sister would like them too.

[Absolutely no good reason? Spending time with her was a perfectly good reason to him even if he might not say it all the time, just because that's how he is. Throwing star practice is definitely a good reason though and he'll support that all the way. Any sort of weapons practice.

He walked alongside her on the way to the shop, just enjoying her presence]

She is doing well. She did like the toys and has been playing with them often. She keeps hiding them away from the boys and Fairy so they don't take them.

From my observations, you should typically gather about seven strong allies and engage on the closest terrain suitable for your tactics. The healers should stay arrears.

[The prompt response comes from the fur and leather geared warrior with a massive axe strapped to his back. He's walking by on his way through the coven's courtyard. He can be stopped for further elaboration, probably.]

...And keep your spear bearers away from cliffs.

[They have a frightening tendency, for dragoons, to backflip off the side of the arena.]

[ at the response, she hums, tapping her cheek thoughtfully. ]

Hmm, well, we have allies, but we can't really choose the terrain...

[ only then does she seem to register the full extent of what he said; nami looks up, blinking. ]

Wait — spear bearers? Cliffs? [ a pause. ] I guess this is something you do often... [ for his instructions to be so specific. ]

[It does feel like it's imposing a little, to be stopping in so many little shops and places here and there to warm up, but this is no time of year for snakes to be awake. Or naga for that matter, even when they've been gifted a long warm garment to slither through the snow in.

Chuckling lightly at the critter shenanigans, he eases his long snake-y body up to the edge of the garden, seeking a little warmth.]

I think many of us are thrust into unexpected positions, once settled here.

[And perhaps if he wiggles his tailtip a little, it will be a tempting distraction for the cat.]

Please pardon my intrusion, but would you mind if I rested here a moment? I would hardly have expected the weather to affect me so, but it really is quite terrible.

[He asks mildly, as if he hasn't been in this horrible half-snake state for months on end now.]

[ she turns to look at the man, smiling slightly at his comment... and a touch wider when tangerine focuses her attention on his tailtip and crouches down to follow it with her eyes, leaving the cauliflowers alone. ]

Yes, you can say that again... I do have a small tangerine grove back on our ship, but that's it!

[ she waves at him to come in. ] I don't mind at all! Come in... ah, you must be freezing. The spell should keep this area warm, so stay as long as you like!

[ she turns to grab the cauliflowers in a firm grip, and plops them back on the patch she'd planted them to. ] And stay there!! [ it sounds rather terrifying, her tone there, and the cauliflowers cower back... but when she turns back to jin guangyao, she's smiling brightly again. ]

Do you want a warm drink, or something? Would that help?

[The more Sanji gets used to his changing body, the more exhausted he feels during the day. His skin even paler than before, along with a set exhaustion that doesn't really disappear until the sun goes down. But despite all that, he wants to see the beautiful Nami-swan while she's at work~~ It's a chance of a lifetime!

And okay, a part of him (most of him) just wants to tell Nami to sit down somewhere and let him take over her job, but he refrains. Partly because she looks really cute in that uniform, but also because of the snow globe that's resting on the counter.

The Thousand Sunny. Their ship brings a smile out of Sanji, and while he does his usual fawning when Nami comes around, he actually jumps into talking about the snow globe-- at least about a particular person that leads their crew.]

Have you thought about Luffy being here? [And the rest of their nakama, of course-- especially the lovely Robin-chan...! But Sanji, despite how many times he calls their captain an idiot or such, holds a deep respect and connection to him. Heck, they all do, in their own way.]

Rubber bastard wouldn't be rubber anymore. [On one hand, the thought actually makes Sanji frown, but also he knows that Luffy would be able to adapt to the situation with that same large smile he shows to the world.]

[ she's happy to show him the globe, glad to have some reminder of their home, something concrete. at the question, she laughs — of course she's thought of it! during her months alone... she didn't have one day where she didn't think of how the rest of their crew would do here, what they would turn into, how they would take to magic, what kind of chaos they'd unleash. ]

More like I've had nightmares about it... he doesn't need to be rubber to get into trouble! Whether he changed into something like you, or got magic powers... aaahhh, what a disaster it'd be!

[ and though she may sigh and moan about this... she's actually rather glad luffy is back home. not because she doesn't miss him terribly; of course she does! but because if, for some reason, her and sanji get stuck here... luffy will be there, chasing his dream, raiding onigashima, ready to win against kaido.

at least he's not stuck here like they are, now. ]

[Ferran can't deny he was probably drawn a little closer to Nami's garden thanks to those warming spells—not only is the winter in this city more than he's used to, Fae apparently don't mesh too well with it, either. Covered almost head to toe in winter garb including a hooded cape that goes down to his ankles, he's carrying a bag of groceries back to his own home when she stops her chase, clearly exasperated.]

They are kind of like a two-in-one farming package, aren't they?

Yes, you can say that again... I don't know why I bother!

[ she sighs, having given up while tangerine enjoys herself... the cauliflower sheep may not, though, but alas. sacrifices must be made.

then, glancing at the bag he's carrying, ]

Maybe I should do like you and forget about growing anything and just buy all my food... that'd be easier!

Farming's too much like work. And then you always have to do laundry on top of planting or harvesting because you get your clothes dirty. By the way, did you plant any potatoes?

[he's only been watching for a -little- while, after spotting the garden and getting a case of the puca munchies. no one would miss a couple of vegetables, right? wei wuxian's tempted to pounce some of that cauliflower. but for now, he'll just sit down beside her.]

This must be your cat! I heard about her from Jiang Cheng. She's a beauty, so I'm sure she'll love me!

[wei wuxian holds his hand out for pettings or ultimate rejection.]

[ he cycles through the commentary so quickly that she barely has the time to register that clearly he's used to farming... before shaking her head, laughing. ]

No, I didn't. I didn't find any among the animal-vegetables... but maybe I'll plant some that aren't actually capable of being chased.

[ which brings them to the culprit of said chasing... ]

Yes, that's Tangerine! And she has taste, so I wouldn't be so sure.

[ tangerine, meanwhile, gets distracted from her hunt by the offered hand... she trots a little closer, sniffs his hand, and —

promptly decides it's a good alternative for a hunt and starts trying to catch his fingers.

A dragon?

[ Saber was stopping by at the coven to inquire about property, funnily enough, and perhaps do a little bit of training herself. She glances over the courtyard, her feathery wings shifting a little as she considers. ]

I always believed a lance would do well. And against a large beast, numbers cannot hurt. Will it be flying as well...?

Yes, a huge one!

[ nami doesn't correct that it is actually he, as the dragon in question is one of the four emperors who simply happens to turn into a dragon. ]

Well, we have allies, but I think only a few of us will be fighting Kaido... he's too strong. Even our captain got defeated by him once already.

[ she sighs, biting the inside of her cheek. ]

Mm, flying and breathing fire and all that!

[While walking home from her shift at the orphanage, Rikku sees Nami and another man (carrying no small amount of stuff) walking across the street. As Nami waves, Rikku jogs over to more properly say hi.]

Hi there!

[At the introduction, Rikku sizes Sanji up.]

Nice to meet you, Sanji! So you're a cook, huh? Do you like it?

[chefalier]

[Sanji can't do his entire full proper introduction, because he's carrying Nami-san's bags and he would rather eat dirt than let any of her belongings drop to the ground-- even touch the ground. He's lucky enough to be chosen as her servant to carry all this in the first place!

But Rikku is incredibly cute and hearts would be floating by his head if possible. Cute and friendly; she's even addressed him...!

Okay well, Nami-san introduced him, but he's still on cloud nine here.]

It's lovely to meet you~~ [He greets in return, that lovestruck smile plastered across his expression.] And I love being a cook-- let me cook for you sometime, madamisouslle.

Oh. I know you.

[Irhya gestures to Sanji and blinks, then looks at all the stuff he's carrying. So, if he's willing to play pack chocobo for her, perhaps this woman is the bond partner he spoke of before...? The corner of her mouth quirks when she mentions his occupation.]

You didn't tell me you were a cook. [Then, to Nami:] What exactly do you mean by "crew", though? I assume you must have a reason for flaunting him about.

Ahhh Irhya-chan...! Luck has served me well now that I got to see you again~~

[Sanji is just having the best time. Between carrying Nami-san's belongings as her loyal (AND NUMEBR ONE) servant and meeting all of her lovely friends, he's reached the All Blue of the city. Or something.]

Oh, did I forget to mention that before? [Guess they were in a pretty deep discussion, but cooking is his number one passion and it's definitely a failure on his part to leave out that detail...! Because he most certainly wants to cook for the lovely and kind Irhya someday!]

Ey ey, I'm a cook... especially a cook of love!

[ As it so happens, Shiro's the cafe's cat wrangler--so yeah, he's definitely around. He's also a very observant guy--and besides, it's hard not to notice the snowglobe. He's pretty curious about it, but he doesn't get a chance to approach her about it until midday.

They're low on customers, so while he's taking his break, he gestures to the snowglobe. ]

You brought that in, right?

[ she turns to him, already smiling when she hears the word snowglobe — just thinking about it brings a smile to her face! ]

Yeah! It's pretty, isn't it? It's our ship from home, the Thousand Sunny!

[ it's just fine for him to be curious, seeing how nami doesn't mind talking about it all one bit. ]

[Mikasa was not a particularly happy buggy. It was cold, it had been cold a year ago when she'd first arrived in the city. But it seemed to cut through so much more now. She wasn't sure if it was a result of her changes or if it was actually colder.

What she did know is that she was glad she'd saved enough to buy that wooly cape to throw over her coat. Keep her toasty as she hurried from place to place, though the yelling made her slow into a pause. Her head-turning to look at the... Walking cauliflowers, ah those guys.

Giving Nami a small nod as her head went back to tracking the wayward veggies.]

The plants really are strange here, huh?

[ nami sighs in return as she nods, apparently having given up on the chase, letting tangerine and the cauliflowers just. run around wild. ]

Yes, you can say that again... I've seen singing and walking food before, but at least I could scare those into submission!

[The cold isn't as biting to Soundwave as much as most of the inhabitants here. So the avatar's out and about in her usual outfit, without really needing to wear a warm garment for the snow. At worse she'd register a chill, but magic would help with that.

At the moment, the avatar's aimlessly strolling the block until she hears shouting from a familiar voice. She glances towards the garden and sees Nami and... a walking cauliflower and cats running around here. Huh.]

A walking plant does make farming difficult, I'd imagine. [She quips on Nami's situation as she sits next to her. A hand holds out towards the cat for petting.] Hello, Nami.

[ her expression brightens up instantly as she beams at her friend; meanwhile, tangerine is distracted from chasing the vegetables in favour of getting some pets. ]

Yes, it's annoying... I thought it'd be convenient, the way they just grow back quicker than normal vegetables, but I was wrong.

[It's Rude's first time in the cafe despite having heard about it numerous times from various sources. He just never found himself in the area when it was a good time for a pit stop.

But not going to deny it, he was there mostly to see how the atmosphere paired up with its name. He wasn't disappointed to walk in and immediately become prey to a cat's wiles--that fancy suit of his just screamed "come leave fur on me." He was content enough to stoop down and reward the feline with a few sturdy strokes across the spine before disengaging as best he could to head to the counter.

Oh. He recognized that lady.]

Hey. [ ... ] Didn't know you worked here.

Oh, hi! You're the vines guy! Uh... Rood?

[ hey, at least it sounds about right... ]

I actually started here just a few days ago! [ she says this very cheerily, as if it doesn't mean that she's probably still somewhat unfamiliar with all the processes of serving coffee and all that. ]

[ It was difficult not to be drawn to Nami, bright as the sun could be, so it wasn’t too strange to see her with someone around her. Still, there was a familiarity with this particular man that seemed different from the brief time Alex had to watch their interactions before Nami caught sight of her.

A smile immediately spreads on Alex’s face as she approaches her, her hands reaching out reflexively to take a hold of Nami’s in greeting. She gives the blonde man next to her a more polite nod, though her expression doesn’t fade. ]

Could it be...Your crew from back home?

[chefalier]

[Fortune has truly shined on Sanji today...! In fact, it's almost being too generous. Is this repentance for getting stuck on that hell island for two years?!

Because another lovely lady has crossed their paths, a friend of Nami-san's no less! It's of no surprise that Nami-san has made a name for herself in this town, but he's only so lucky to meet so many of them! Not to mention, she's really cute~~ And that smile! Another goddess that has graced his lowly self with her presence.

While he normally has a big dopey smile while walking around with Nami, Sanji's expression only becomes more lovestruck as Alex talks to them.]

That I am...! And a friend of Nami-san's is a friend of mine~~! [Sanji is definitely very happy to say that.]
