i. snowglobes and cafes ; purramid

a. [ it's not a bad job to have, by any means — being a barista is easy, dealing with customers is easy, and the pay is not bad. and the kittens are cute, of course!

one day, she brings something with her to work; a snowglobe that she sets at one of the counters, out of the way enough to not disturb the work, but close enough that she can see it during the days. inside the snowglobe, there's ocean waves crashing on its insides, as a ship with a lion's head at its front and a skull with a straw hat on it painted on its sails fights against the waves. all around it, snow keeps falling slowly. ]

b. [ when she's not taking a break with petting kittens, nami is actually, you know, doing her job as a barista. when a customer approaches her, she greets them with a beaming smile and, ]

Hi, what can I get you?

[ or, if it happens to be someone she already knows, ] Oh, hey, it's you!

[ ... politeness really isn't a pirate's strength, okay. ]

ii. all about onigashima ; the coven

[ in her free time, nami still attends magic classes, but spends her time training both physical fighting skills as well as magical. this particular day, she can be found sitting in a large courtyard after practising; there's scorch marks all over the ground. nami twirls her clima-tact in her hand idly... and upon seeing someone else enter the courtyard, she says, ]

Hey... what do you think it takes to defeat a really, really large dragon?

[ not that she's going to be the one fighting kaido... but if she can get her friends any pointers at all, that'd be great. ]

iii. behave, garden! ; nami's house

[ should anyone walk past a small, unassuming house that nami calls home, here, they might see that a patch of the garden is kept warm with spells even during winter, and there a patch of vegetables grows... in relative peace.

"relative", because sometimes, the vegetables in question require some encouragement. ]

Oi, stop that! You're supposed to be growing, not running around! Tangerine, stop chasing them!!

[ neither nami's sheep-like cauliflowers nor her cat seem to listen to her at all, running around her in a circle. eventually, she just sits down and sighs, leaning her chin on her hand. ]

Haaaahh.... I'm really not made to be a farmer.

iv. have you met sanji-kun? ; around the city ( note: responses come from both nami and sanji! )

[ whereas some months ago, nami would be seen on her own most of the time, nowadays it's not too rare to spot her accompanied by a slim, blonde man with a notably curly eyebrow. she bosses him around mercilessly, more often than not making him carry all the bags from their shopping trips... not that he seems to mind too much.

but should anyone run into them as they're out and about, especially if it's someone nami already knows, she's quick to greet them with a grin and a wave. ]

Hi! It's good to see you! Ah — [ then, glancing at her companion, ] This is Sanji-kun, our crew's cook! [ and from the bright, bright smile on her face, it's easy to see she's glad she's no longer the only straw hat in this world. ]

[Double ooh, really. She strikes a thoughtful pose.]

Pirates, huh? I've got a few pirate friends back home. Plenty of good people among the lawless ones, just looking for a good time or a living. I imagine that would be a difficult lifestyle to adopt here, though...

But a restaurant, you say? Sounds like a promising alternative. [She tilts her head.] Sanji's role would be obvious, but what would yours be, out of curiosity?

[The thought of creating his own restaurant has crossed Sanji's mind a couple of times. As much as he loves cooking for Nami every day, there's a missing piece, a longing to cook for many people again. Making meals for his nakama, working in the Baratie; he's always wanted to share his talents with others. Of course, starting a full on business is difficult...

But the lovely Nami-san probably knows what to do!

And think about all the lovely ladies that would come and try his food!]

Nami-san is not only our crew's amazing navigator, she's also our budget manager~~

[Sanji trails off slightly, figuring that Nami can explain more about her amazing skills as he thinks about Nami in super cute manager outfits. This is truly a dream come true.]

[ that comes with a wink. even though, okay, most other pirates they know from back home kind of suck... but let's not focus on that!

she nods to what sanji-kun says, elaborating, ]

Yes, I take care of all our money... so I'd handle all the finances! [ she adds, tapping her cheek, ] I guess I could wait tables too in the beginning, before we could hire others to do that.

Hmm... couldn't hurt.

[The smirk on her face says she thinks it's definitely a good idea.]

Sounds like a sensible collaboration, at any rate. Maybe I could help out sometime? I don't know if I could dedicate myself to it full-time, but it might be fun.

[This is the dream, right here. Nami-swan and Irhya-chan in cute waitress clothes and helping the assholes or lovely ladies that's come to dine at their restaurant...! Excuse him as he goes into a daydream about this. He almost has a nosebleed just thinking about it.

Maybe they should just name their restaurant 'Paradise' or something if this happens.]

Any help at all would be lovely, Irhya-chan~~! [He may be spinning in place a little now.]

Of course!

[ nami just.... ignores sanji's sanji-ness and beams at irhya instead. ]

Part-time employees would be better for the start, anyway, since we don't know how many customers a starting restaurant would get... we'll let you know once it's ready to open!

[ apparently she's gone from "this could maybe happen" to "it's definitely happening" in the span of, what, three minutes? ]

[Irhya smiles back, and then casts an eye at Sanji with a smirk.]

I was going to offer to help cook. What were you thinking, I wonder?

[He's gonna have to try harder than that to get her in a frilly maid dress.]

[How much shame does Sanji have? Not much. And as such, he just let things blurt out.]

Helping the customers with Nami-san, of course! [The daydream comes back full force and Sanji almost loses himself in it, but somehow, he snaps to reality rather quickly this time. The topic of cooking is always one thing that he can be completely serious about, no matter what.]

But if you're interested in cooking, I'd love to have extra help in the kitchen~

[ A SIGH.

well.... at least irhya seems to be able to handle sanji's sanji-ness just fine. that's a good sign. ]

Helping him in the kitchen is a great idea! Are you very experienced with cooking, Irhya-chan?

[So does Nami, apparently. Gods, to think of what she must've had to put up with already...]

I am. I used to do it for my family all the time, and I even won a big-name cooking contest back home. Got a perfect score where nobody else had been able to. So I think I can hold my own in the kitchen.

What kinds of dishes would you serve? I imagine you might narrow it down to seafood or some such and give it a pirate theme, since you're already halfway there. Or is that too much, you think?

[There's probably a formal interview process and all that in regular jobs, but for Sanji, she's already hired in his eyes. Honestly, she was hired the moment she said she'd help, but knowing that she won a cooking contest does help a bit too.]

I can cook anything.

[It may sound like he's bragging, but there's nothing really haughty about him. He says that because he really believes that he can cook anything.] A pirate theme would add character to the restaurant though. Separate ourselves from the other shitty restaurants out there.

[And it'll be a nice reminder of home. Heh, he can make dishes named after their nakama too. One way of cooking their favorites without them actually being here.]

A perfect score? Whoa, that's pretty impressive!

[ she beams at irhya... and then just nods at sanji's response; after all, he's right. he can cook anything. so she, too, acts like it's just a matter-of-fact thing.

A pirate theme, huh...? Not a bad idea! Besides, seafood is guaranteed to be fresh, here... though we'd have to have at least one meat dish.
