Vanitas; Lady in the Lake

[The moment he heard that the Coven wanted some special pearls to study, he’d admit to being curious about it. However, if there’s one thing that Lavi cannot absolutely stand—

It’s ghosts.

He hates ghosts.

Akuma is one thing. Machines with torn souls inside of it. Even if the first time he saw that soul made him feel dread inside.

But ghosts? Ghosts are another thing.

It’s practically up on the top of his list along with vampires. Ironic, really, considering the place this world is. Still, Lavi won’t let that stop him. For the most part. He might’ve tugged Vanitas along with him to come.

Now here they are, standing at the edge of the lake.]

So—any ideas?

[ Standing at the edge of the lake... Lavi might be unnerved by things like ghosts and vampires ( which is super ironic all things considering ), but Vanitas? It's most definitely water. It's partially because he has no idea how to swim.

Being so close is making him uneasy. ]

You're the one that was interested in this. What did your research tell you about what to do?

[Vanitas, how do you not know how to swim?]

We're supposed to meet the ghost who protects this place and get around her long enough to be able to get a pearl.

[Pause.]

Not that--I want to fight her.

[Especially since she can't be exorcised apparently.]

[ Excuse you. He's lived his life in a wasteland. What opportunity would there have been to learn! ]

So obviously one of us distracts her and then the other should go get the pearl.

[ A shrug. ]

Distraction doesn't have to mean fight.

[He nods slowly.]

So--wanna be the distraction while I get the pearl?

[It'll help with both of their phobias.]

[ Vanitas looks towards the water. Getting a pearl requires getting his feet wet doesn't it? Might have to go into deep waters.

There is a rather pregnant pause before Vanitas answers. ]

Sounds fair to me.

[It works out for them both.

And just in time too as mist begins to gather around them. It has Lavi tensing up, the fur on his body bristling and he just...slides off to the side, taking off his jacket so that it doesn't weigh him down.]

[After what happened the last time he went feral, Lavi had been searching quite a bit for that one lady he attacked before. He feels bad (though won’t deny at being in awe at having his ass kicked) for attacking her like that.

Fortunately, even in his feral state, Lavi is never one to forget a face.

It just…took a while to find the woman he tried to attack.

It does take a while before Lavi finally finds her, walking up to her casually while trying to hide the nervous twitching of his ears.]

Hi there!

[It was on the way from getting some writing supplies that the puca comes to see her. She looks at the man and remembers how he lashed out at her before Litha and how she was very much Done with his shit and put him in his place. But he sounds...different. Less angry. But still, she does raise an eyebrow.]

Ah, hello there. Is there something you need?

[Boy, you better not want a rematch. She may not be armed right now but she can still whoop your ass.]

[Please don't kick his ass.

He lifts his hands in a meek fashion.]

I'd actually like to apologize for attacking you the last time we ran into each other.

[Folding her arms, she does look at him cautiously. He seems to mean well but her guard is up for a reason. Mainly because she doesn't know the sap outside of their fight.]

Well now, that is a surprise. Were you running all over the city trying to find a woman with no name and on a chance?

[He grins at her.]

It's one of the times my memory comes in really handy.

[At least it's not due to puca senses. She can remember how quickly another found her when she wanted to flee.]

Well, no one got injured too badly and thankfully you got away without any broken bones. So a positive of sorts.

Kor; Antler Fruit

[Honestly, he has no idea why he accepted this quest.

He and animals are not best friends.

But he also couldn’t resist being curious the moment he heard that these fruits grew on these antlers and as much as instinct has told him not to get close, curiosity ended up winning.

So he might’ve grabbed the first person he sees and—

As much as he doesn’t understand Kor, the guy has that fearless/recklessness of other people Lavi knows so he’s one of the better people he could’ve asked for help with this.

Even if it means having to bundle up first considering how cold it is in the Wilde right now.]

[While Lavi might have some apprehensions about this whole thing, Kor was more than eager. Kor likes animals, and he likes gathering food. But an animal that comes with food growing on it? That's like a twofer! He's feeling excited to meet the thing.

Kor looks around the area, trying to spot if their quarry was anywhere nearby. He lets out a deep breath, a cloud of steam forming in the air in front of him.

Suddenly, a sound is heard to their south, like something having stepped on a branch.]

Over there! Let's go!

Aye, aye, cap'n.

[He playfully salutes him.

His ears twitches at the sound.]

[Kor runs in the direction he'd heard the sound. Sure enough, he comes across a fallen branch on the ground, clearly having recently been trampled underfoot by something. There were a couple hoofprints, but with how thick the brush was in places, there weren't many tracks. Kor's senses were more acute than your typical human, having a keen awareness for the woods, but even he wasn't going to get far here.

He turns to his partner.]

Hey, you pucas have really strong senses of smell and hearing, right? Can you pick up anything here?

Gimme a sec.

[His ears twitches as he listens closely.

Then he turns his head.]

Over there.

[He begins to head in that direction.]

Whoa! Amazing! [He's surprised by how quickly Lavi figured out the way to go, having wasted no time at all.

He looks in the direction Lavi is indicating. He didn't see anything, but who knows far in the creature might be.]

Alright, let's go. Try to keep up with me, okay?

[He heads in the direction Lavi pointed, not wasting more than a second in taking off.]

Alex; Matchmaker

[Matchmaking.

Let it be known: he had no choice in the matter. The moment that new service saw him, he was dragged into it. At least the pay should be good.

Lavi is given the brief reviews and then he looks over to the person who’s working with him on this.]

Guess we should get started, yeah?

[Never mind the fact that while Lavi is a prankster and enjoys messing with people, matchmaking is something else entirely. He’s not entirely sure how to even see if people can be compatible with one another.]

[ If Lavi knew nothing, then they were screwed. What the hell did Alex know about stuff like this? ]

Well... I guess we just...slide together whoever we think might get a long?

[ This seemed like way too much power to put into their hands. ]

[ She moves up to the top of the table the review of a 29-year old harpy who likes flying over hills and is looking for someone who likes nature too. ]

What if we go through the forms we have, then we can put the ones we think he'll like on the right, and the ones that might not be match on the left?

Sounds like a good system to work with.

[Lavi looks over at the information about the harpy before looking over at the other pictures.]

....Do you think a harpy and a naga would work out fine together?

[Though he wonders how that would even work out to be honest.]

I..don't see why not? It's not like...they'd try to eat one another, would they?

[ She'd heard both could be quite promiscuous so...doesn't that pan out? Not that she wants to say it out loud. ]

I think it's the personalities that matter more. This naga seems to prefer more indoor activities. So that might be a problem...Ah! This faun though seems to like hiking. Maybe that might work?

[ She pauses as she reads the little blurb ]

Oh...but he prefers other fauns...

He picks up another picture.]

There's this dragon. She enjoys nature and flying--

[ Her ears perk up then slump back down when the prospective match falls through.]

Oh--what about a witch match? He didn't say he only wanted another monster... This one says she's wanting to pick up new hobbies. Maybe hiking in the mountains might be nice change for her?
