[ He can see Lavi reacting to the mist that's starting to rise up. The temperature is also dropping, to the point where Van can see his breath. Now he doesn't quite have the same response that his bondmate does. Vanitas isn't really afraid or nervous. ]

So what? I just wait for this thing to show up and start talking?

[ And then how does he talk? Hi, how are you? By the way we want one of your pearls? ]

Oh--one thing. Apparently the Coven said you gotta be honest with it since it might ask some very personal questions.

[ Personal questions? One has to be honest? Then it sort of dawns on Vanitas. ]

You want me to talk that way you get to keep all your nasty secrets.

[He edges closer to the water.]

I really don't want to talk to ghosts.

You really don't want to talk to ghosts that would force you to be honest.

[ Nope. Not letting Lavi wiggle out of this one. ]

Just be thankful that I don't practice outright lying.

He just inches more towards the water.]

But before long, she finally appears before Vanitas and Lavi takes that as his cue to start swimming.]

[ Yeah? Lavi needs to hurry. Vanitas isn't certain what this little ghost is going to be like.

What is she going to say? What if Van doesn't answer correctly? ]

[Lavi is off swimming!

The ghost appears in front of Vanitas, her misty eyes seemingly staring at him--or through him.]

What is your desire, being riven from the light?

[ Good thing Vanitas isn't actually intimidated? The question given to him, however, is pretty easy. He huffs. ]

That's all you're going to ask? My desire is to be whole.

[ That hasn't changed. Never has that changed. However his reasoning might have. Just a little. ]

[She stares at him.

Because who only wants to be half of a whole? It's a miserable existence.
