[ He can feel that over their bond. It makes Vanitas swell with warmth and that... That emotion. That soft thing that he's been feeling for a while between them. The one that makes Vanitas feel dizzy and light headed.

Sora can probably feel the slight panic before Vanitas shuts that down. Nope. No. Not entertaining thoughts thoughts right now. Just focus on Sora's words not emotions. ]

You are my bondmate.

[ But that's not the only reason. They both probably know this by now, just like they both knew it hadn't only been the magic the other night. ]

How would you even know how to cook...

[The same unsure warmth flickers between them and Sora quickly looks down but the smile on his lips is still there. It just brings back hazy memories of the other night when Sora has fallen for all that magic. Things left unsaid again which he's still unsure is a good thing or not.

He focuses on the question and lifts his gaze with more of a grin.]

A friend taught me a few things. Little Chef, when I was helping out a Uncle Scrooge's restaurant. I picked up a few things but I'm never gonna be as good as he was. But I think I'm okay at it on my own!

[He isn't as clumsy as he used to be at it. But he still has a hard time remembering everything.]

I have no idea who Scrooge is, Sora. [ Though he gets the idea. Restaurant. Got it. ] So you do have more skills than just whacking your Keyblade at things.

[ He teases, but there's no malice in it. Instead Vanitas takes a couple of more bites. He's mulling over what Sora had said. ]

There's no harm in showing me a few things, I guess.

He's Donald's uncle. [He grins with a tilt of his head.] I'm good at a lot of things, okay?

[Sora starts on his salad again, savouring a piece of tomato.]

I'd like that, too. I can show you a few things. Like fruit cake?

[By all means Sora isn't the best cook out there. But he did learn a lot from the Little Chef. He's okay at it.]

[ Sora... Vanitas doesn't particularly care who the guy is. Those details really don't mean anything. However he just rolls his eyes as he also nibbles on his food. ]

...Fruit cake. That doesn't even sound good.

[ Is it a cake with fruit in it? A cake in the shape of a fruit? ]

But I won't say no.

[Hope Vanitas is prepared to get so much more random information about Sora and who he knows in the future.]

It does taste good! Really!

[He's glad Vanitas will give it a chance.]

[ As long as Sora is fine with not getting that sort of stuff in return. Vanitas doesn't have any details like that. ]

[ Vanitas, on the other hand, is about finished. ]

What other plans did you have?

[Sora is nearly finished his meal too. His long rabbit ears swivel.]

Uh, wasn't there something you wanted to tell me about before? You know, when you freaked out on those messages?

[Tilting his head...]

You said you would?

[ He tsks. So much for Sora forgetting. ]

Of course my luck isn't that great.

[ Vanitas sighs, angrily glaring at the water. He's stalling for a few moments. Collecting his thoughts. Deciding if he's... Going to follow through or not. ]

I was looking to find some answers because I've been feeling weird. [ Geh. He can't even look at the brat. ] Got worse since the meteor shower. Chest too tight. Couldn't catch my breath. Has to be something wrong, I thought.

[ Part of him still thinks that it has to be bond-related. Though there's... Now a bigger part of him that thinks that, maybe, Lavi had been right? ]

It got brought up in conversation. A suggestion as to what the problem was came up and that's when I flipped out. Why? Because it's just not possible. It couldn't possibly be what was said. That's all there really is to it.

[It's been inkling at his mind since then! But as Vanitas continues Sora feels this little pinch inside his chest and he swallows quickly. Of course, he's noticed that Vanitas has been feeling strange ever since the meteor shower and that Sora has been having some similar feels.

Maybe now is the time they really do properly talk about it. Sora wants to be brave even if his heart is starting to feel too funny and too quick.]

Erm, what did you talk about, then? Because I know you've been feeling like that. You know, since then.

[Sora pushes around his last tomato.]

And I think I've been feeling weird too.

I know you've been feeling funny too. That's why I figured I'd try to find something.

[ Because he really had thought that the state of his heart and how they bonded might have contributed. That's also what made Lavi's idea so impossible. Vanitas and Sora are experiencing similar emotions. So if Van is being accused of "falling in love" then it also means... That Sora...

Van huffs, growing a little hot. ]

We talked about some of the things that I had been feeling and experiencing. I figured "why not" since I wasn't really finding anything. That person is probably wrong anyway.

[The thing is Sora knows what the feelings he's been feeling are. He knows how much he's come to like and adore the other boy. The hints of those feelings returning to him lately have made Sora's heart beat quicker than ever before but he's still not sure what he should do about it. He figures that all of these feelings are just being exacerbated by the strength of their bond. They had bonded so fast and so hard that all of these feelings came together like a storm and have now settled into this soft back and forth.

Maybe he should have been asking someone about all these things too. But Sora had thought maybe it would stay just like that between them. Just this soft wish wash of affection and something else.

Sora's cheeks warm as he burns with a certain sort of curiosity.]

The thing is... [Sora glances up at Vanitas, his gaze soft and nervous.] If we've been feeling some of the same things it might mean we feel the same. Right? About... Uh. Each other. Maybe it's not wrong.

[He quickly laughs out of giddy habit.]

What they said probably isn't wrong, is what I'm saying!

[ Funny how, in the end, boy teens have had similar thoughts. Sora had thought that the emotions, or rather their intensity, had been brought on by the bond itself. Vanitas had noticed the intensity and had thought that maybe something is wrong with the bond itself. Neither one had seemed to stop and think that while their Bond made them more aware of one another's emotions... This entire thing had been building between themselves. Their Bond only helped them along.

Vanitas frowns though, sensing the nervousness. He glances over to Sora, seeing that the other is trying to get out words. When he does, Vanitas huffs. Because yeah. Yeah he knows that's what it means! ]

Technically, yes, but that's why that person can't be right. There's no way you could -

[ He cuts himself off. Then looks away from the table again, letting out a sound of irritation. Vanitas is blushing. Warm. Embarrassed. His heart is also hammering away in his chest and he doesn't understand why this is so difficult!

But Sora thinks that Lavi is right. Without even really knowing the other side of the conversation. What does Sora know about this that Vanitas doesn't? That laugh happens when Sora is trying to make light of a situation that he feels strongly about. He must be hiding something.

He hadn't really entertained the idea that Lavi had presented him with. Regardless of whether or not Sora feels one way, Vanitas needs to know if he himself does. Now he's all tangled up in his own head and... Well if Sora doesn't think that Lavi isn't wrong then maybe the advice isn't either. After all Sora had kissed him so...

Vanitas makes another sound of irritation. Then he just quickly turns to give Sora a kiss on the cheek, like which had been done to him.

...He can sort out whether or not Sora feels anything about it - which there's no real way he can - later. ]

[There's so many sudden thoughts rushing through his head now as he watches Vanitas blush and struggling with his own reactions to the conversation now. Sora's heart is thumping so achingly in his chest that he almost just wants to blurt it all out so that it stops feeling like it might burst. The feelings that have been rushing between them are fluttering up again- even right now!

But before Sora can say anything more Vanitas seems to quickly turn to him and gets so close that Sora's eyes go wide. There might be the slight flicker of magic that sparks between them (from who? it wasn't vanitas! it was sora's luck!) and Sora turns his head towards Vanitas just enough that instead of kissing Sora cleanly on the cheek it more on the corner of Sora's lips.

...

Did that just happen?

Sora inhales and he stares widely at Vanitas as his body sort of just warms up. There's a tingle of something where lips pressed. And Sora's hand automatically reaches out to grab Vanitas' sleeve before his brain can even catch up.]

Vanitas? I ...

[ Definitely not Van's magic. However is this scenario really "lucky?" Perhaps it is for Sora. Vanitas, however, it kind of isn't. He hadn't been mentally or emotionally prepared to nearly get Sora on the lips. Even if it's just on the corner, it's still not the cheek.

It did just happen and Vanitas' heart is racing in his chest like he's running a marathon. His entire face is heating up - all the way to his ears and down his neck. At the moment he's stunned into silence, just staring at Sora. There's a sudden surge in his own emotions and he realizes... ]

I-I need -

[ Van jumps at Sora takes his sleeve. Oh he looks like he can bolt all right. Because the truth has kind of hit him like a ton of bricks. And he can't. ]

I need to go.

[ Because Sora is going to be disgusted. Is going to tell him off. Vanitas can't even entertain the idea that, despite the fact that Sora says they've been feeling the same emotions, that Sora would even want him in that sort of capacity. ]

[This surge is strong enough on their bond that Sora's almost breathless because of it. This rush of confusion and denial and so much more is enough to make Sora's fur stand on end. And maybe because he knew that if he didn't grasp Vanitas now that the other boy might just try to turn tail and run and Sora couldn't let that happen. He still has so much he wants to say out loud. His heart feels like it's bursting.]

Wait, Vanitas! Don't go, okay?! Just-

[Sora's voice cracks a little. He stays holding onto that sleeve almost pleading that Vanitas just hang on a little more. Please don't panic. Sora isn't going to be disgusted or tell him off or anything that even remotely resembles rejection.]

I don't know how to say all of this because I never though it'd go like this with us but! I- I really like you, Vanitas. All these things we're always feeling...! It's something special, isn't it? It's special.

[ The only reason that Vanitas doesn't flee is because Sora is attached to him. He can't even teleport, as the other would just come right along with him. The emotions that are running rampant through their bond - both the wash of warmth, the panic, and then something else that makes both of their hearts just swell - are starting to make Vanitas a little more than dizzy. Van can't really ground himself at the moment so that he can make any sort of rational decision. ]

I'm... It's...

[ Sora's voice cracking, that desperate little plea, just does him right in. Vanitas doesn't go anywhere. Doesn't say anything either. Not immediately. He does listen to what the other is saying. What they feel - what they both feel for each other - is special. And Sora is at a loss for words? Since when does that happen? ...So he's surprised too? Is it nervousness?

He swallows, his pulse still racing and sort of hampering his ability to focus. ]

You like everyone. [ A last ditch effort to maybe try to dismiss but... ] But it is... This is different than that, isn't it?

[ It's more than like. Like isn't this intense with the other people that Vanitas gets along okay with. ]

Is that why you kissed me? Before?

[It's hard to get the words out because he's never felt the urge to confess to someone properly before. He's had crushes and soft feelings for others in the past but this has always been more intense than anything else. It's overwhelming sometimes how much he thinks he likes Vanitas. It's new and exciting and a little nerve wrecking. But the fact that Vanitas seems to be understanding that that feeling is going both ways makes Sora's own heart keep skipping beats. And he wants to keep following that silly feeling.]

It is different. It's really different! When I think about you I feel like there's this big warm storm washing around inside of me.

[He smiles a little at his own childish choice of words. But it's true.]

I don't feel like that when I think about anyone else. That's why I wanted to kiss you before. I just couldn't help it. [...!] I'm sorry if I got you all confused because of it.

[ It's new and it's nothing less than terrifying, really. Before he had been able to tell himself that all of it couldn't be true because there's just no way that anyone could think of him in such a light. How could they? Vanitas is abrasive and something like a jerk. He is not friendly and even when he's being decent he's not necessarily nice. Quite frankly he has no desire to be any other way. How could someone even be attracted to that? To him?

How could Sora of all people? He shines so brightly and Vanitas is pretty sure that the brat could pretty much pick and choose someone that's a better match for him than someone like Vanitas. ]

I'm not even remotely a good person. [ Nor will he ever be. Certainly not good enough. ] So... Why?

[ He's not naive. Vanitas is aware of what romantic inclinations are. Understands what developing these sort of feelings for people could mean and lead up to. It's not that he's asking why to be praised or get Sora to stroke Van's ego. He asks the question because he needs to understand what makes him to appealing - so he can reconcile the fact that Sora does feel that way. ]

But even I know you can't just randomly kiss someone and think that they won't be confused by it... [ Huff. ] Even if... It was probably the only way to get me to think about it.

[ Some of the panic is starting to ease away. It's being replaced by more confusion and maybe something small and warm. Something like hope. Though he doesn't understand what it is that he's hoping for. ]

[Sora is just as surprised with his feelings for Vanitas as Vanitas might be. It crept up on him fairly fast. A curiosity for someone that finally grew stronger when he was presented with a chance to know him and to spend time with him. Back home they were considered enemies and Vanitas wasn't the nicest person to his friends or even to Sora himself by a long shot. But things had slowly changed and fluttered once he got to see the life that Vanitas was able to have alongside Sora's real feelings that he should have always been one of them-- not a Xehanort lackey. There was just so much more to it.

Sora's fingers are still grabbing onto Vanitas' sleeve but his grip loosens just a bit until he's gently holding on. He doesn't think Vanitas will bolt on him now. Or at least he hopes he won't.]

Coming to this world I finally got the chance to get to know you for you. And I dunno... Sometimes I feel like you're the only one who really knows what I need. You always say the right things even the stuff that's hard to hear.

[Sora lets out a fond laugh.] I mean, when you're not teasing me about stuff or saying it to get under my skin.

[The laughter, the fun, alongside all the awkward and bad too. It's all just been... good. And he likes it.]

You're a lot better than you think you are. I've seen you take care of people. You take care of me. And it's really nice. [Sora's cheeks are pink and he flusters softly while looking down at the table. It feels good to say these things out loud even if it's making his heart flutter wildly.] I just can't get over how much more I wanna know about you all the time. I feel like you're growing all the time. I wanna see it.

[He huffs softly.]

That kiss- it was just because I wanted to try it. Just like you just did.

[ As Sora's grip loosens, the thought to take off does cross his mind. However, he isn't going to. This... This isn't going how he thought it would. However it's not in a bad way either. So his hand pries Sora's fingers off of his sleeve. Instead he just... Holds that hand. Something grounding.

He listens to what Sora says, of course. Some of it is similar enough to what he's heard. Other parts are new. He likes the fact that Vanitas doesn't hold back and says what needs to be... Okay. Okay Vanitas can accept that. Can accept that Sora sees him and is okay with it.

Van licks his lips a little. Trying to put together words. Sora articulated his reasoning so he should too. His face is red and he can't really look at Sora. Just squeeze his hand. ]

I... Disagree with some of that. [ He only takes care of the things that are important to him. The people that matter. Not everyone qualifies. ] When you're around it's less empty. There's a fullness there that has nothing to do with my heart. It's warm. Soft. [ He struggles with this next word: ] Safe.And I want more of it even if I feel overwhelmed by it too. You... You make me actually want to do things.

[ Vanitas is glaring at the ground. ]

I think I must really like you too...

[Sora still feels like there's more things he could say. He could be here all day telling Vanitas about all the things that makes Sora pick him over potential others. But Sora is still figuring out even more of those things each day. Maybe part of liking someone so much is the journey of figuring out all of those little things along the way.

Those fingers grasping at his is another thing that he likes. So he says it.] I like when you do that.

[A smile grows on Sora's face alongside the pinkness in his cheeks. Hearing all those things makes his heart sing.]

And I like making you do things. I like seeing you doing things. I like your smile when you think I'm not looking. [Heh.] And I feel safe with you too.

[ Vanitas bristles a little at the comment. It's because he's embarrassed. ]

I'm only holding your hand...

[ It's not a big deal! Maybe Sora has something on maybe part of it is just discovering all of the little things that makes someone real. That makes them appealing. The good things and the bad.

But man. Sora feels safe with him. Wants to be around him. Things like that? It makes the warmth in Van just bloom all over again. Sora can feel it. Vanitas isn't hiding anything from him right now. His nervousness, too. ]

I... Like watching you sleep. [ Huffs. ] It's... Cute.

[Sora finds himself chuckling at first. Maybe a tiny part of him likes making Vanitas feel embarrassed. It's cute and good. And totally ruins Vanitas' cool-demeanour. Whoops.

But Sora is just as embarrassed as these little things come out too. He feels warm and giddy and nervous all at once.]

Really? When I'm sleeping?

[Will Vanitas tell him more about that?]

[ Well Sora is good at making him embarrassed. Though isn't Vanitas also good at doing the same? ]

Augh. Yeah. It's the only time you're not talking into eternity.

[ That means Vanitas is getting more comfortable. Settling into the reality of this. Starting to come to terms and accept these things. He's maybe settling on the idea? ]

You just look... Relaxed.
