[There is a new shop in town that is selling magical mattresses that have people share dreams should they share their beds. Sora is not helping with that part of the quest right now. Rather he’s helping to collect materials for the mattresses to be constructed. There happens to be a batch of wild sheep just outside of the city walls that have the special plush wool for these special dream-sharing mattresses. So today is literally about counting sheep. Luckily he has some help today with herding the wild things up.

Sora grins happily at Yona as he adjusts the empty pack on his back.]

I think the herd should be just up ahead. Do you have everything you need?

[They were equipped with some sheep shears too. This shouldn’t be so hard, right?]

Hey Lavi, what should a rabbit use to keep his fur neat?

[He’s not sure when he started to hang out with Lavi more often but that seems to be happening right now. Puca are so naturally social and like the company of their own kind so that probably has to factor into it somehow. So, here he is with the red-headed puca as they wander about the streets of Aefenglom on one bored and lazy afternoon. The weather is pleasantly breezy for the start of the month.

... And apparently Sora has a dumb joke to tell.]

[They’ve had this day planned out for a little while now. Taking the time on a sunny afternoon after coven classes are on a break to have some lunch together. It’s a pretty ordinary thing for them to do so Sora is a little amused at that fact. But he’s happy to have it, a part of the afternoon to just waste some time with his bondmate.

After certain developments, primarily Sora’s newfound overly aggressive attraction to magic, he’s kind of determined to be on his best behaviour today.

They’re on their way to a place Sora spotted just a few days before. A small café tucked away near the docks and water, not too busy and with the fresh breeze in the air, it’s the perfect place to sit outside. He’s so happy that the weather is looking so great the last few days.]

Do you have more classes you have to get to this afternoon?

[When the coven explained that they were in need of hands to help with watching over some nearly brought in creature eggs Sora’s curiosity had been so sparked that he practically dragged Riku over to the coven grounds to see what all the commotion was about. If there were eggs to be cared for that meant that soon there would be babies to be cared for and Sora wants to know what sort of magical creature are inside.

When they wander closer to the batch of giant melon-sized eggs Sora leans up on his tippy-toes as he tries to get a better look at them all.]

Do you think we could keep one after it hatches, Riku?

[Of course Sora wants to keep one of them. Ever since he was a child he has tried to keep several adopted animals. Wild or not! Is it a good idea? Well, that’s the big question...]

[ They have had this planned for a little while. Though Vanitas still doesn't quite get why planning it had been necessary at all. He and Sora spend a great deal of time together as is. Of course it had been a great teasing opportunity at the time, hadn't it? ]

No. I'm done for today. There's nothing I'm really interested in this afternoon.

[ So, really, they could take all the time that they wanted. However Vanitas is glad that the spot chosen is actually, well, not one of the more popular or crowded places. He's okay with some people, but he still doesn't like nor do well with large groups.

He's... Also a fair bit nervous himself today. There's reasons for that, of course, but Vanitas is keeping a rather tight lid on what can be felt through their Bond on his end. Maybe Sora's forgotten that Vanitas is to explain what's been eating at him lately.

Hey, there is a chance of that. ]

What do you even do all day anyway?

[It's a nice lazy afternoon.

Lavi would've holed away in the library if Sora hadn't tugged him out, wanting to spend the day together even if it was doing nothing.

So he can't help but snort at the question.]

I don't know. What?

[What kind of punchline do you have for your joke, Sora?]

[It had been a sort of spontaneous thing that turned into a real plan. It had started out as a little joke that definitely changed when Vanitas had mentioned a Date and that he had something he would explain to Sora after having a very strange burning meltdown over a text note one day.

Don't worry. He's still wondering about that one...

He jolts a bit and lifts one finger in the air.]

What do you mean? I do all sorts of things all day! I don't have to go to classes like you so that means there's more time for me to help out with things like the outposts, small work here and there and with Riku's garden!

[... Don't call him out on being lazy most days, Vanitas. He just likes naps, okay. Okay.]

[Doing nothing with friends is always ultimately better than doing nothing alone.

And with that catch Sora tilts his head proudly.]

A harebrush!

[Get it? Har Har Har.]

I don't have to go to classes, Sora. It's something I choose to do.

[ Because Vanitas is something of a perfectionist. He has to have mastery in as many areas as possible. If he can't, then he needs to at least know how a certain school of magic works so he can combat it properly if need be.

He huffs. Some people just can't appreciate actually being instructed rather than just being told to figure it out. ]

Sounds like to me that you do a lot of nothing important.

[ Yup! Going to just tease and see if he can get Sora going. Because that is far more comfortable and preferable than think about other things. Yup yup. ]

I don't know why anyone would choose to do homework and extra work.

[Hello?? School sucks??]

Come on! I do a lot of important things, okay?! Being a monster is a lot of responsibility!

[He is one busy little rabbit in that regard! Taking care of witch magic is a lot of work. He's even been a little exhausted on some mornings now. But he has to wonder if that's all part of his new 'affliction' with magic. Maybe.]

[ Yeah... Vanitas still wants to get to the bottom of that. Maybe it's time to actually ask the network about Monsters and magic attraction? ]

At least one of us will actually come to understand this world instead of just prancing around in it.

[ He nudges Sora's leg under the table with a foot. ]

It's okay, Sora. I know books with words on the pages instead of pictures are a little bit difficult for you.

[ Yuma's been having an itch for music every since leaving home. Not just because he misses hearing his companions' music, though admittedly the whole homesick element to it was a large factor. There was also something tugging at the back of his mind, a need, a hunger for lack of better words.

He took up playing the guitar, partly out of hopes that it would help scratch that itch, but...well, it's not enough. Yuma doesn't know what it is that's pulling at him, but it's becoming harder and harder to resist. So hard that, at this point, he simply can't anymore. Instincts he once thought were buried deep rise to the surface, and he takes flight.

The evening finds him perched on top of a small building, song flowing from his voice like a gentle, mournful breeze. There aren't many around to hear him. How disappointing. If only someone were close enough to listen to his song... ]

[Sora's cheeks flare with embarrassment as he glares lightly at the other. He takes his fork and stabs it into his meal (a loaded greens salad, unsurprisingly) and into one juicy chunk of tomato.]

I'm just more of a hands-on kind of guy, that's all.

[He's actually a very quick learner, himself. Just when it's by first-hand experience. Not books.]

Sitting through lectures... I'm not jealous of that at all!

[ Vanitas is more than satisfied with the reaction. He kind of likes the look on Sora's face.

As for Van's meal? It's some kind of stew with bread to the side. He's still in the process of learning which things he likes to eat and what he doesn't. This is safe and it's not too rich for him. ]

It's magic, Sora. You can't not be hands on. Theory, however, is just as important as the application.

[Sora stuffs the tomato in his mouth and then puts his hands together like fingerguns. And with a stuffed mouth he says,]

What, you can't just put your hands together like this and go pew pew?

[Keyblade magic is like that??]

[That has him snickering.]

That's a rather corny joke, Sora.

Can you before you learn how to do it? Before you learn a more powerful version of the spell?

[ If Sora is going to try to get Vanitas to demonstrate, it isn't going to work. He had meant what he had said before. Vanitas is going to lay off of the magic around Sora until they can figure out why he's in a stupor every time Van casts something.

...An affectionate stupor at that. ]

By the way, I'll probably be going out into the Wilde here and there this month.

Hey, it is not! That was the best! You even laughed!

[Sora bursts out with laughter too.

Okay, maybe it was a little corny.]

How have you been, Lavi?

You could've come up with a better one.

[Just saying.

He reaches up, poking Sora's ear.]

Fine? Been burying my nose in books.

Aww... I guess not. It would be pretty cool to skip all that, though.

[Why does magic have to be so complicated? He definitely wouldn't have protested a demonstration right then and there. But magic really is more complicated in this world than it is at home.]

Oh yeah? Some extra work or something? I wonder if I should see if Riku wants to do something like that.

That sounds boring. [Sora peers at Lavi.] On what kind of books. Books on bonds?

[How's that going?]

Different types of monsters. Maybe bonds.

[He's not going to say.]

What about you? Anything new with you lately?

[ It is and it isn't. Vanitas has always had to learn through observation and through trial and error. So his ability to pick up on magical theory here is no different than it had been previously. Vanitas already excels in areas that are familiar to him, after all. ]

To be instantly good at everything? Heh. It would be nice not to struggle for once.

[ Likely doesn't realize the slip of his words as he takes another bit of bread to dip into the stew. He pops it into his mouth, chewing thoughtfully. ]

They're always looking for people to fight off infected creatures. I don't want my skills to get rusty.

[ ...Just not going to mention he offers healing services too okay. ]

[He still has a feeling Lavi is dodging something here. Sora pouts but then his ears twitch quickly.]

Actually... My bondmate has been acting really weird lately...
