[Semi-Closed] Trails of Welcoming Party
Who: Class VII, SSS and any friends they invited
When: Evening of October 1st
Where: Trails House!
What: Welcome to Aefenglom/Post-Dorchacht party!
Warnings: An obscene use of tacky decor. Also liquor.

Having the forewarning of the dream that some classmates were coming, the members of Class VII decided to hold a welcome party not just for their old friends, but invite the friends they've made in their time there. The days after their return from Dorchacht, they went straight into preparation work. Setting up their home for new occupants, preparing food, planning activities, and decorating.
On the evening of the 1st, after more emotional reunions were done earlier near the Coven, the party begins. Already from the entry hallway balloon decorations, you can tell this will be a party to remember. The living room too is full of balloon decorations which were put up more clumsily by decorators who spent so much time on the entry hallway they ran out of time. Above it all hangs a giant glitter banner with names hastily enchanted on, giving warm welcome to their old classmates.
Balloons aren't the only decorations. There's magicked bubbles, floating around the room with glitter within that forms the names of the people near them (though the spelling might be off). There's pirate octopus lanterns, random seasonal wall hangings, streamers, poppers, kazoos, party hats for people to wear and all sorts of other random (but also tacky) decorations. The entire first floor and courtyard are covered in these decorations.
A lot of thought was put into planning this party. Was it good thought? That's debatable, but they were thoughts.
I. The Food
What's a party but its selection of food? Despite the questionable decorations, the food table in the dining room is nothing to snuff at. There's a whole spread made of easy party foods: kebabs, mini sandwiches, chips and dip, wings, and vegetable platters. For those with a sweet tooth, there's a build your own crepes station with ice cream and fruit with handmade crepe shells. Towa, with the help of Shinji and Elliot, worked hard to make the food as delicious as possible.
Among Towa's dishes are a few brought by some thoughtful guests. These are a bit more varied in quality...from Ignis's made (and Prompto delivered) fine new recipes to Zack's more questionable fae jello cake that's enchanted to make you giggle if you're brave enough to eat it. Food wasn't asked of the guests, but they won't turn away anyone's kind donations.
Lastly, the drink table is well supplied with juices, ciders, and other cold drinks found in the city. For those looking for alcohol, there's some available - along with a sign written by Lloyd reminding folks not to drink if they're underage. Decide to ignore the sign? You'll need some help, as the alcohol bottles have been enchanted not to pour for anyone under 18. Next to the drink table, there's another table devoted entirely to freshly brewed coffees and teas.
II. The Games
Every party needs good entertainment, and there's plenty to be had. Spread out throughout the party, there's different activity stations. Some are more traditional party games- like pin the tail on the faun, pictionary, make balloon animals or other crafts, etc. There's a spot with decks of cards for card games in the living room, some traditional cards and some magicked to be Zemurian-based card games. Out in the courtyard, a few chess sets have been set up for anyone who fancies a logical game. In the music room, there's music playing on record for anyone who wishes to dance, and a keyboard for anyone who wants to play. Or...try your hand at the bagpipes in there. Why not.
Once it's dark enough outside, a corner of the yard becomes devoted to playing with sparklers and small fireworks. They're magically enchanted to be different colors and shapes. In the opposite corner, there's a bonfire set up with marshmallows to roast and plenty of chairs to sit and talk. Both areas have been stalked up with easy-to-use water spell scrolls - in case anything gets out of hand.
If you're looking just for some good conversation to get to know people? There's jars throughout the party with paper slips which have questions on them meant for conversation. Some are silly ("What superpower would you want?") while some are more thought-provoking ("What's your third favorite memory?") - though most of them are pretty light in levity.
III. Quiet Spots
While festitives are fun and all, everyone needs a little quiet once and awhile. The first floor and outside are devoted to party activities, but there's a couple rooms opened on the second floor that are nice and quiet. Enchantments have been put up to muffle sound from downstairs. Any valuables have been stashed away elsewhere, so you won't find anything worth taking.

He answers the question when it's asked though. ]
I made it with enchantment magic, actually.
[Of course Elliot would be the one to think of the safety precautions in this party]

[So on top of bringing delicious Ignis-brand food, Prompto has brought something else just as awesome.
His camera! And it works, thanks Coven. So naturally Prompto offered to take photos of everyone and everything at the party until he literally can't take anymore. He's even got a little area set up outside for slightly more personalized photos.
Yes, he totally bought and brought a hay bale and some pumpkins for this. It's fall, it's required.
Come get your photo taken! They're digital and in color!
Also sorry not sorry, but he totally took photos of the newly arrived Zemurians when they saw the decorations. No, he's not deleting those. Yes, he can be bribed to print them off.]
Food
[If he's dared, he'll eat the giggle cake but otherwise he's avoiding that monstrosity. Pretty sure he made that in chem class after failing an experiment. Just saying.
Prompto looks at the spread of food, debating.]
I wonder if chocolate cake'll make me sick now that I'm kinda canine...and is it worth it anyway...
[Look, these are important things to know!]
Games
[Prompto's terrible at chess, but the card games have him interested. Especially the ones he doesn't recognize--mostly because he sucks at poker and hates blackjack--so he's hovering when he's not taking photos, trying to learn by observation.]
Wildcard
[He'll be at the bonfire, just wandering around, and steadfastly ignoring the dancing! Also feel free to add my here, no I don't remember the plurk html why do you ask?]

[Towa is ever present at the party-- but not frequently in one place for very long. Rather than acting as a guest, she's more keen to working to make sure everyone else is having a wonderful time. Whether that's picking up trash, preparing food, or making sure the decorations aren't getting in anyone's way, she's got a lot to keep her busy. You could almost mistake her for an employee.]
(version a.)
[Near the drinks--]
Can I get you something? Tea, coffee...?
[Or perhaps something stronger, if you're of the legal age for such things.]
(version b.)
[By the food--]
I just made some fresh, if you're hungry.
(version c.)
[Should you find yourself overwhelmed by the balloons, she'll do her best to help too, laughing sheepishly.]
Sorry... I know it's a bit much. Oh--! Careful, there's one at your foot that came loose--
[Hopefully it's not too late, or we may yet just have a glitter explosion.]
Wildcard.
[Should you wish to actually pull her away from her duties, she won't be terribly opposed to it. She likes fun as much as anyone.]

the same way he had a first bond come to life, the same way he’s had his first bond break. who knew that waking up in an empty bed would feel so daunting, that his soul and heart was missing something— a hole so fresh that aches, and aches, so much that he has trouble lifting his spirits when left to his own devices.
he knew it was inevitable at some point, that it’d happen to either of them sooner or later, to all of them really. he’s by far upset at the fact that mikleo’s gone. the opposite, he was relieved. the seraph has his places to be, and he’s left his mark grandly. wrapped in eren’s hand is the crystal blue jewel his former bond had left him, a pendant with a delicate silver chain etched with a pair of words that wouldn’t make sense to anyone who looked upon it.
eren’s tail, slick, spined and patterned, curls around the leg of the chair as his fingers coil at the pendant. he can’t help feeling the emptiness and there’s a part of him that hates it, followed by another part of him that hates that he hates it. he sits where it’s the most quiet, treating himself to a glass of his favorite grape whiskey, in front of him at an empty table, and inspecting a kazoo.
. . . no one seems to be looking, so he blows into it. don’t tell anyone, but lizard brain makes him pretty expressive with his reactions. ]

No idea. Someone brought it with 'em, and I guess Towa felt bad for him and put it out.
[That is likely not an accurate summation of events, but it's the one Shinjiro's going to go with. Because while it looks geletin based, there are things floating around in it, and not all of those things look like they should be in gelatin. Were those jalapenos on top? Olives? Maybe grapes? It's impossible to tell, with the shifting colours and the faint wobbling. Any of that sounds absolutely awful with fruit flavoured jelly... and if it has another flavour, that's even weirder.
Another pause, and he glances to Crow.]

[At Fie's request, Shinjiro had shown up early to help out in the kitchen. She'd mentioned several times how important her found-family was to her (Or maybe that's just what Shinjiro had gleaned from whatever words she'd actually used--) so he doesn't mind helping set up the affair. Especially if it will make it easier for him to slip out once the socialization gets too rowdy. As such, he's around to stare at the decorations even as they go up, slowly shaking his head at every addition.
RIP whoever Jusis, Machias, and Crow are.
He keeps his space at the start of things-- sticking closer to the kitchen, touching up the food table if need be, grabbing some coffee and sticking to the perimeters. After all, he doesn't know these new people, so this isn't his reunion to have. He'll just be the weird goat-man in the back until dragged out for socialization.]
ATTACK OF THE TYPO BALLOONS
[No matter where he goes, he can't seem to get far enough away from one of those brightly, happily floating bubbles, eagerly rearranging its glitter to announce SHENJIRO whenever it gets within arms length of him. So after several minutes of trying to dodge the damn thing, he finally gives up and accepts his fate, next to this ridiculous misspelled balloon. It's probably Fie's fault. Somehow. She's not a witch, can't enchant things, but he's sure he can blame her and that's okay.]
ACTUALLY DOING THINGS???
[He doesn't recognize the decks of cards-- there are numbers but no suits, and then mirrors and swords, which he's sure is for some specialized game, likely from the world that this crew came from. But at least he's making an attempt to actually do things, instead of just leaving halfway through-- and it's likely thanks to that steady influx of contentment filtering through his bond with Fie. It's just convincing enough that he doesn't want to do something to ruin it.
So here he is, awkwardly looking over these cards he doesn't understand. Maybe he'll ask to be dealt into a hand of something, too.]
ANYTHING ELSE
[tag me with absolutely anything. ask him stupid conversation questions, light him on fire with a sparkler, i don't even care everything is wonderful. if you want me to write you a starter, hit me up at either
it can be a hobo meet and greet
the dragon eventually saunters over to the faun alone. he has cups, he has this bottle, and both hobos are in need of a little company (on eren’s part at least, he’s actively seeking— the dragon in him dislikes loneliness). it’s a better idea than blowing into a kazoo when no one was looking. ]
Got space for one more? [ he says relaxed, almost amiably, but audibly tired of something, holding the empty cup out to him and sitting down where he stood. slowly, he had long legs, dragon-like and worthy of a little sluggishness lest he wanted to fall over. the tail helps. ]

[Setting up this party and running around town for supplies and finding their friends worked up quite an appetite for Elliot. He's got a plateful of mini-sandwiches and fruit-filled crepes. He's technically of age, but he wasn't much of a drinker, so he's sticking with juice.
But between his own quick bites, he is trying to be a considerate host. So he sets his plate down when he sees someone approach and quickly stand up]
Need anything?
B. MUSIC
[It should be absolutely no surprise that Elliot is found in the music room. He'll play requests on the keyboard, assuming he knows it. Otherwise he's just playing music or listening to music and living the best life.]
C. GAMES
[Elliot is bad at chess, so he avoids it. Elliot also has no hand-eye coordination or sense of balance, so he avoids the pin the tail game too. Better this evening doesn't end in a trip to the infirmary okay.
The other games though, Elliot is more happy to check out. He's happy to teach anyone not from Erebonia how to play Blade, or just play a more normal game of cards. Balloon animals he takes a long time to make a set of eighth notes, and is very pleased with himself when he does. He is better at socializing than some of his fellow classmates so it's not necessary, but he'll be happy to answer questions in the conversation jars.
As for the outdoor activities...well, sparklers are fun, and he'll play with some, but he is also hovering around with mild concern in case someone gets themselves burned. Being the healer is hard sometimes okay]
D. QUIET SPOTS
[Surprisingly, Elliot doesn't need to go up to the quiet spots for alone time. He's pretty good at managing all the commotion downstairs. But he still pops up here occasionally, to check on people just in case. He keeps his tone soft, so not to disturb them too much]
Doing alright up here?
E. WILDCARD
[Got another prompt? Hit me with something or talk to me at
wildcard!!!
eren wasn’t upset about his departure, that much was certain, but he feels what he feels. mikleo had become a part of him, and he’ll remember that beyond how long this lasts. elliot’s classmates were throwing a party, and despite being in far less of an energetic synch for this sort of thing, eren shows up early, subdued and reclusive— even when the social dragon in him decides it’s best to stick with at least one more person so he isn’t alone.
if elliot thinks it’ll help for him to be here, he’ll take him up on it, studying the decorations being put up (did the balloon . . . just spell his name wrong?), odd food that he flicks his tongue over one too many times, and . . .
he has a kazoo he accidentally stepped on, but the sharp shard the plastic creates, well— he’s shoving it into his pocket. ]

[ Louis is here by Fie's request. Invitation. Whatever. But her and Shinjiro are the only people that he knows so he hesitates as he approaches. He still had time to turn around, though he doesn't. A deep sigh, and he makes his way into the party. He stood in front of the hallway loaded with balloons and wondered about the setup. If this was the entrance, he knew it was going to be much, much worse.
He maneuvers through, and ducks out of the way of any streamers that seem a little too long hanging at an effort not to get caught in them. And, he puts on a face he remembers. The same face he wore when speaking to his classmates. The face of someone who seems to know exactly what he's doing.
Find him putting on his best face around the party. He's not wearing any of the party hats, and the suggestion will earn a polite 'no'.
He can be found lingering around the party, taking in the hideous decorations. ]
II. FOOD
[ When he finds the food, he goes right for the veggie tray. He scoops up a few piece of celery and chomps. He seems relaxed when he's chewing on the pieces of his favorite food. He takes a look at the other stuff. Some looks edible.
But others, namely the jello cake: ]
It looks like if you eat that it will be the last thing you ever eat.
[ He doesn't trust food he doesn't know, and it looks totally, and completely unappealing.
He eventually makes his way to the drink table. Earlier in the night, find him pouring himself a cup of tea. Later - he's pouring himself a glass with whatever alcohol catches his attention. He won't have much. ]
III. GAMES
[ He'll gravitate towards Chess, primarily, when he takes a moment to play games. It's a quiet game that won't require much conversation with whomever he is playing against, so he'll take a seat. He can either be joining you in a game, or you can join him.
He's not exactly a genius at Chess, but it does allow him quiet.
He'll also make his way towards the music room to check it out. He wanted to see what was going on in there. He won't initiate a dance, but if the music is suitable for dancing with a partner, he'll be more inclined to dance with you.
He considers the conversation jars. He'll take a few questions out. Any that seems like it might be too personal, he'll shove right back into the jar and be as sneaky about it as possible. They can be met with any of the questions:

[ Once the door opens, Machias pretty much freezes in place and s t a r e s at the balloon and glitter overload in front of him. ]
Wh-What in... Aidios' name...?! What happened here?!
[ What do you mean this was on purpose jfklsjlk ]
► 2. Food
[ Most of the food looks amazing, and after recovering from the initial shock of the decor, Machias is happily taking small bits of pretty much everything. All things considered, everyone seriously outdid themselves! Unsurprising, honestly - but touching all the same.
He also, of course, has a large cup of coffee. And that makes him quite happy, thank you very much.
He's not touching that jello-looking-cake-thing-whatever-it-is, though. Nope. In fact, he's squinting at it in suspicion, wondering what the heck it is and where it came from. No one he knows would make something like that, would they? ]
Is that... even edible?
► 3. Games
[ Oh look, out here in the courtyard, there's chess! It's like they know him or something~ If you're up for a challenge, Machias is more than happy to play - but for those who don't already know, fair warning: he's really, really good. Don't know how to play? Machias will show you! Why not? This is a party, not a competition! ... Unless you want it to be a competition. Do you want it to be a competition? Because it can totally be a competition. ]
[ He also notices the cards, and of course he'd be down to play some Blade with anyone who knows the game! Alternatively, he'd be plenty interested to learn other card games. Someone want to teach him how to play go fish or something? ]
[ And of course, there's sparklers. He's not really one for fire and explosions or anything like that, but he's not going to turn one down if someone hands him one. ]
[ Otherwise, feel free to subject him to literally any party game or activity at all! Including the jar of conversation points! Bother him! He's really just the perfect type to bother. Seriously. ]
► Wildcard
[ Machias might be a nerd and more than a little uptight, and still a pretty worried about this whole showing-up-here thing, but it's not going to keep him from having fun around here! So give me a prompt and we'll make it happen. Hit me up at
1.
Slightly farther into the entranceway, a tall man glances up at the absolute nightmare vomit that is the pastel decor and happily glittering letters. And at least he still looks fairly normal, with the exception of dainty-looking cloven hooves sticking out from the hem of his pants, rather than actual human feet.
And the answer to Machias's exclamation is simple:]
Fie and Elliot. Mostly Fie.
[A casual shrug, as though that explains absolutely everything.]
So're you Crow, Machias, Or Jusis?
[He absolutely pronounces that last one 'Juices'.]
