[Semi-Closed] Trails of Welcoming Party

Who: Class VII, SSS and any friends they invited
When: Evening of October 1st
Where: Trails House!
What: Welcome to Aefenglom/Post-Dorchacht party!
Warnings: An obscene use of tacky decor. Also liquor.

Having the forewarning of the dream that some classmates were coming, the members of Class VII decided to hold a welcome party not just for their old friends, but invite the friends they've made in their time there. The days after their return from Dorchacht, they went straight into preparation work. Setting up their home for new occupants, preparing food, planning activities, and decorating.

On the evening of the 1st, after more emotional reunions were done earlier near the Coven, the party begins. Already from the entry hallway balloon decorations, you can tell this will be a party to remember. The living room too is full of balloon decorations which were put up more clumsily by decorators who spent so much time on the entry hallway they ran out of time. Above it all hangs a giant glitter banner with names hastily enchanted on, giving warm welcome to their old classmates.

Balloons aren't the only decorations. There's magicked bubbles, floating around the room with glitter within that forms the names of the people near them (though the spelling might be off). There's pirate octopus lanterns, random seasonal wall hangings, streamers, poppers, kazoos, party hats for people to wear and all sorts of other random (but also tacky) decorations. The entire first floor and courtyard are covered in these decorations.

A lot of thought was put into planning this party. Was it good thought? That's debatable, but they were thoughts.

I. The Food
What's a party but its selection of food? Despite the questionable decorations, the food table in the dining room is nothing to snuff at. There's a whole spread made of easy party foods: kebabs, mini sandwiches, chips and dip, wings, and vegetable platters. For those with a sweet tooth, there's a build your own crepes station with ice cream and fruit with handmade crepe shells. Towa, with the help of Shinji and Elliot, worked hard to make the food as delicious as possible.

Among Towa's dishes are a few brought by some thoughtful guests. These are a bit more varied in quality...from Ignis's made (and Prompto delivered) fine new recipes to Zack's more questionable fae jello cake that's enchanted to make you giggle if you're brave enough to eat it. Food wasn't asked of the guests, but they won't turn away anyone's kind donations.

Lastly, the drink table is well supplied with juices, ciders, and other cold drinks found in the city. For those looking for alcohol, there's some available - along with a sign written by Lloyd reminding folks not to drink if they're underage. Decide to ignore the sign? You'll need some help, as the alcohol bottles have been enchanted not to pour for anyone under 18. Next to the drink table, there's another table devoted entirely to freshly brewed coffees and teas.

II. The Games
Every party needs good entertainment, and there's plenty to be had. Spread out throughout the party, there's different activity stations. Some are more traditional party games- like pin the tail on the faun, pictionary, make balloon animals or other crafts, etc. There's a spot with decks of cards for card games in the living room, some traditional cards and some magicked to be Zemurian-based card games. Out in the courtyard, a few chess sets have been set up for anyone who fancies a logical game. In the music room, there's music playing on record for anyone who wishes to dance, and a keyboard for anyone who wants to play. Or...try your hand at the bagpipes in there. Why not.

Once it's dark enough outside, a corner of the yard becomes devoted to playing with sparklers and small fireworks. They're magically enchanted to be different colors and shapes. In the opposite corner, there's a bonfire set up with marshmallows to roast and plenty of chairs to sit and talk. Both areas have been stalked up with easy-to-use water spell scrolls - in case anything gets out of hand.

If you're looking just for some good conversation to get to know people? There's jars throughout the party with paper slips which have questions on them meant for conversation. Some are silly ("What superpower would you want?") while some are more thought-provoking ("What's your third favorite memory?") - though most of them are pretty light in levity.

III. Quiet Spots
While festitives are fun and all, everyone needs a little quiet once and awhile. The first floor and outside are devoted to party activities, but there's a couple rooms opened on the second floor that are nice and quiet. Enchantments have been put up to muffle sound from downstairs. Any valuables have been stashed away elsewhere, so you won't find anything worth taking.

[ Louis takes it, eyes it, and takes a bite. Or tries to eat. It's an interesting attempt, at the very least. It tasted good, but it was awkward to eat. Listen, deer aren't exactly the ideal candidates for peanut butter. To help compensate with it, he grabs another two piece of celery and eats them, too. It helps a little. ]

It's good, but I don't think I'll do that very often.

hoboagogo: (Set all my regrets on fire)

[personal profile] hoboagogo 2019-10-06 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[holy shit watching him eat peanut butter is fucking adorable and hilarious.]

[He just-- freezes for a moment, watching the deer struggle with the peanut butter in his mouth, muzzle working awkwardly around it-- And then, possibly for one of the first times in front of either of his bondmates, he actually just. laughs. It's rough and short lived,k but definitely there and not deniable, especially with the way he just-- turns towards the table and brings a hand up, almost as though to mask it.]

Oh, shit-- [Fuck. Ok. Don't laugh right in his bondmates face. Get it together, aragaki. He finally manages to turn the last few laughs into an awkward clearing of throat, but the traces of amusement still tug at hapless lips.]

I forgot your mouth is so... uh... [He just-- gestures. The gesture means and conveys nothing.] You know.

[ Can you not, Shinji. He makes a very, very indignant face when his friend is laughing. He knows he's laughing. He...has never seen that before. So, he's sure it's pretty hilarious to him, then. He doesn't get it. But, what he feels from that laughter through the bond? He seems to mind the amusement a little less.

But, despite, his expression doesn't change. ]

My mouth is what? A deer's?

[ Is he joking? Yeah. A little. ]
hoboagogo: (Maybe the world isn't ending)

[personal profile] hoboagogo 2019-10-08 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[Look, look, he's mostly sorry. Kind of. He hadn't been aiming to humiliate Louis, he'd really just wanted to introduce him to the superior way of eating celery, but--

Well, it's kind of like when he gave Koromaru peanut button one time, and then Koro got it stuck on his nose and just--]

A muzzle, yeah. I guess it doesn't move the same kind way as ours. [Or at least somehow it's harder to navigate peanut butter with? Man, he's not a biologist. Finally, he settled down from the amusement, giving a short, conceding nod.]

Yeah, we'll have to figure out something else if you wanna eat more peanut butter. Maybe try dipping it in the cheese sauce on the end instead.

[ Look. He's glad Shinjiro is laughing and amused because he's never really felt it from him. And as long as no one else sees, that indignant will fade pretty quickly. ]

It doesn't. You're pretty lucky I like you, though.

[ Not that he even sounds mad or anything. Just - embarrassed. Imagine the hesitation when he goes towards the cheese sauce after his last experience. It's about what he expected, though - or looks like it. He dips a piece and takes a bite. ]

This is much better. I like celery as is, though. It doesn't need anything else. [ Shoves a couple pieces into his mouth. ]
hoboagogo: (But I'm not sentimental)

[personal profile] hoboagogo 2019-10-10 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, last thing I need's to get gored. [Even as he says it, he thumbs at the closest point of one of Louis's antlers teasingly. With the whole 'bond' thing, short physical gestures had become a little easier.]

I swear, one day I'm gonna turn around too quick and get an eye taken out...

[Still, he finally moves to grab a few of the snacks for himself, opting for one of the skewers instead. Still mostly vegetarian, but clearly with some chicken in between the peppers and mushrooms. Sorry, Lou.]

Yeah? See, I always thought it just tasted like water that's been sittin' out in the sun and string. I wouldn't eat it when I was a kid.

[personal profile] rightfoot 2019-10-13 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
Good thing. I gore people I hate, after all.

[ Obviously joking. And that amusement he's feeling? Obvious. He is used to keeping a good eye on things so no one gets hurt. The physical gestures seem to be noted but don't bother him. There's all of two people who could get away with that right now, and he's one. ]

I've never let Legosi take out an eye on one of my antlers, so I think you'll be alright. [ Tilts his head slightly to look up towards Shinji. ]

Well, my taste is probably a bit different. Being a deer and all. It tastes extra good to me.
hoboagogo: (Knew I'd never see the ground)

[personal profile] hoboagogo 2019-10-14 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Legosi? [He's not sure if Louis has told him much from back home. They both seem to be of the opinion that their lives here are separate, and that whatever backstory they may have doesn't matter. But the name is thrown out so casually, that he can't help but be curious.]

He someone you know from before here? [A pause, and what little he knows about Louis's world makes the next question come quickly.] And, uh... what is he?

[Another deer? One of his lions? Who even knows. But he concedes to Louis's point, crunching himself on a spare bit of cauliflower.]

Yeah, probably. We're omnivores, so it's not really that exciting.
rightfoot: (pic#13519404)

[personal profile] rightfoot 2019-10-16 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Louis didn't even think about the fact that he's never talked about Legosi by name. Though he knows he's mentioned him. He's sure, at least? Maybe. Louis doesn't often talk about himself much more than in passing, so it's entirely possible it's been a missed subject. ]

He's a grey wolf. He's pretty tall. He's taller than you, even. He's a friend at home. I gave him my right foot.

[ That's one say to say it. But to him, that says a lot about his friendship. He chose to use these words specifically because he's learning that the 'he ate it' sounds a little... unsavory. ]

You silly omnivores. I do like a lot of different fruit, though. Particularly melon.
hoboagogo: (Like you've got nothing to say)

[personal profile] hoboagogo 2019-10-20 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
[A Louis's words, his eyes slide down to the prosthetic foot, always so fearlessly on display. (And really, such a regular part of Louis that Shinjiro often forgets it's even a prosthetic.) But it suddenly pulls their first conversation to mind- The sly joke about not being afraid of being eaten by a wolf, since it had already happened once.

And so he nods, with a simple:]

Man, your world is weird. But alright. That explains you being chill with predators.

['Silly omnivores' and his lips break into an amused smirk as he shakes his head.] Don't be jealous we can eat whatever we want. But yeah, melon ain't bad. Sounds like you like a lotta high-water content foods.

[Maybe coincidence, but he's absolutely logging it away in the back of his mind. Just.... because he likes to know what everyone's favourites are, ok.] You ever had grilled watermelon?
rightfoot: (pic#13223125)

[personal profile] rightfoot 2019-10-26 03:21 pm (UTC)(link)
[ A soft, easy laugh, which he rarely ever has escapes him. Shinjiro's not wrong, of course. His world, by a human's estimation, is probably very weird. They don't probably hang out with people who could and would, if provoked, eat them. It's so, depressingly, normal where he's from. He clicks his tongue. ]

I can't say I have eaten grilled watermelon. Though I like watermelon. [ And pretty much any fruit that he can think of. ] Fruit and yogurt, too.

[ And - ]

I'm not particularly jealous. Meat doesn't taste good to me anyway.
hoboagogo: (Beneath these hopes)

[personal profile] hoboagogo 2019-10-26 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
You'd like it. This summer, remind me and we can make some.

[He nods along with what Louis says, considering. So dairy was okay, since he'd said he could have yogurt. And he's pretty sure eggs would be, also? Animal product or not, it's not the same makeup as meat, it's not made of carved muscle, so that could possibly be something he could digest....

He shrugs.]

Fair enough. And even if it did, you can make non-meat versions of most anything. It ain't exactly the same, but it ain't bad, either.

[personal profile] rightfoot 2019-10-30 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
[ Louis likes the idea a lot. Shinji telling him about it sounds great. Maybe it's the excitement of his friend sharing something that he thinks he'd like with him. People didn't share things with him like that often. He typically is kept at a distance. ]

I won't forget.

[ Reaches a hand up, pats Shinji's shoulder. ]

You made a lot of the food here, didn't you? You did good.
