[Semi-Closed] Trails of Welcoming Party
Who: Class VII, SSS and any friends they invited
When: Evening of October 1st
Where: Trails House!
What: Welcome to Aefenglom/Post-Dorchacht party!
Warnings: An obscene use of tacky decor. Also liquor.

Having the forewarning of the dream that some classmates were coming, the members of Class VII decided to hold a welcome party not just for their old friends, but invite the friends they've made in their time there. The days after their return from Dorchacht, they went straight into preparation work. Setting up their home for new occupants, preparing food, planning activities, and decorating.
On the evening of the 1st, after more emotional reunions were done earlier near the Coven, the party begins. Already from the entry hallway balloon decorations, you can tell this will be a party to remember. The living room too is full of balloon decorations which were put up more clumsily by decorators who spent so much time on the entry hallway they ran out of time. Above it all hangs a giant glitter banner with names hastily enchanted on, giving warm welcome to their old classmates.
Balloons aren't the only decorations. There's magicked bubbles, floating around the room with glitter within that forms the names of the people near them (though the spelling might be off). There's pirate octopus lanterns, random seasonal wall hangings, streamers, poppers, kazoos, party hats for people to wear and all sorts of other random (but also tacky) decorations. The entire first floor and courtyard are covered in these decorations.
A lot of thought was put into planning this party. Was it good thought? That's debatable, but they were thoughts.
I. The Food
What's a party but its selection of food? Despite the questionable decorations, the food table in the dining room is nothing to snuff at. There's a whole spread made of easy party foods: kebabs, mini sandwiches, chips and dip, wings, and vegetable platters. For those with a sweet tooth, there's a build your own crepes station with ice cream and fruit with handmade crepe shells. Towa, with the help of Shinji and Elliot, worked hard to make the food as delicious as possible.
Among Towa's dishes are a few brought by some thoughtful guests. These are a bit more varied in quality...from Ignis's made (and Prompto delivered) fine new recipes to Zack's more questionable fae jello cake that's enchanted to make you giggle if you're brave enough to eat it. Food wasn't asked of the guests, but they won't turn away anyone's kind donations.
Lastly, the drink table is well supplied with juices, ciders, and other cold drinks found in the city. For those looking for alcohol, there's some available - along with a sign written by Lloyd reminding folks not to drink if they're underage. Decide to ignore the sign? You'll need some help, as the alcohol bottles have been enchanted not to pour for anyone under 18. Next to the drink table, there's another table devoted entirely to freshly brewed coffees and teas.
II. The Games
Every party needs good entertainment, and there's plenty to be had. Spread out throughout the party, there's different activity stations. Some are more traditional party games- like pin the tail on the faun, pictionary, make balloon animals or other crafts, etc. There's a spot with decks of cards for card games in the living room, some traditional cards and some magicked to be Zemurian-based card games. Out in the courtyard, a few chess sets have been set up for anyone who fancies a logical game. In the music room, there's music playing on record for anyone who wishes to dance, and a keyboard for anyone who wants to play. Or...try your hand at the bagpipes in there. Why not.
Once it's dark enough outside, a corner of the yard becomes devoted to playing with sparklers and small fireworks. They're magically enchanted to be different colors and shapes. In the opposite corner, there's a bonfire set up with marshmallows to roast and plenty of chairs to sit and talk. Both areas have been stalked up with easy-to-use water spell scrolls - in case anything gets out of hand.
If you're looking just for some good conversation to get to know people? There's jars throughout the party with paper slips which have questions on them meant for conversation. Some are silly ("What superpower would you want?") while some are more thought-provoking ("What's your third favorite memory?") - though most of them are pretty light in levity.
III. Quiet Spots
While festitives are fun and all, everyone needs a little quiet once and awhile. The first floor and outside are devoted to party activities, but there's a couple rooms opened on the second floor that are nice and quiet. Enchantments have been put up to muffle sound from downstairs. Any valuables have been stashed away elsewhere, so you won't find anything worth taking.

heck yeah gotta stick together
...Yeah. S'fine.
[A roll of the shoulder, and he has no problems with the other man coming over here to wallflower with him. There's so much joy and reunions and shenanigans going on in the thick of things, that it almost feels easier to breathe a bit separate from it. (But maybe that's just old antisocial habits refusing to die.)
He does take the cup as it's offered, turning it over slightly in a hand to examine the emptiness, but he doesn't remark on it.]
Gotta say, you don't look like the military academy type.
[...That is, he's assuming Eren is someone they've met here, as opposed to known from back home. But who knows, really.]
hobo club no weenies allowed
I used to be. [ he almost says it with some nostalgia tied to it. as if it were . . . so long back. though he doesn’t bother to watch anyone beyond their seating area like he knew them in the same way.
now he’s just a dirty ragamuffin. ] Five years ago.
only the scraggliest of guttertrash
Man. That's... smokey.]
Oh yeah? Same as these guys, or did you just meet 'em here or what?
[He's been low-key assuming that the class vii kids are the only ones from a military school, apparently.
Finally, he brings the glass up to his lips gingerly, the scent of it alone already burning at his nostrils-- but again, he's already here, he's already dead, he has no Persona here to lose control of, so he might as well take a sip--
And immediately pull a face at the flaring heat of it at the back of his throat. Sorry, eren, your new fellow hobo friend is a fucking wuss, apparently.]
the dirtiest of ragamuffins
lmao that actually reminds him of the first time he downed a drink all proud, the champ of champs, and spat it back out. no chuckling. he will not chuckle. but he does look at ease and tranquil with the company, forked tongue giving a flick out past his wet lips. ]
I'm bonded to one of them. Different world entirely. [ and since, lbr, neither of them are class vii material: ] Who're you here for?
no subject
Fie. And the deer. But Fie's the one who lives here.
[Look, he'll even take another attempt at a sip of the whiskey, trying his best not to let it show how much he doesn't really enjoy it. It's an acquired taste, surely. He'll just. Keep his glass full and say nothing, clearly. If he needs another drink, he'll go get it.]
How 'bout you?
no subject
fei, though!!! the menace. not that eren thinks poorly of her, he's a menace right back lmao. the lack of interest in the glass doesn't go unnoticed, but eren has yet to do any prying. too early, but he will fiddle around with the cards and start seeing which ones they have. maybe they could . . . pretend they're numbers. maybe divide hands for them? start a deck. eren looks up for a moment to catch sight of ginger hair, probably smiling, laughing or helping along with the food and entertainment. he points an inky black digit out, talon included, and somewhere on the floor, where his tail sprawls— the spiky tip sways. ]
There. Elliot. He's bonded to Fei, too.
no subject
He follows the scaled talon pointing out to... huh. Elliot.]
Oh, yeah. He is. I've only talked to him a few times, but he seems... [A pause, trying to think of a word, and finally settling on:] nice.
[wow shinji you make 'nice' sound like some sort of insult. Or at least implying it's not that interesting.]
He put a lotta effort into this thing, too. [Oh, but the shuffling at the cards also catches his eyes, and he tilts his head.] You got one've those weird decks?
no subject
Stick with the fact that you just know him next time. [ because that’s exactly what that sounds like!!! good job!!!! and while eren takes it with certain peace, he knows elliot wouldn’t have. a reminder, new hobo friend. do not force out nice things to say just because it feels mandatory. it looks bad for both sides!
at least he feels it’s unintentional, and doesn’t dwell on it longer than needed. the focus is on the cards now, and eren separates them by symbol. ]
We could still play if we choose their ranks. [ which wouldn’t be so hard—? shield beats sword, sword beats knife, ahh. and so on. ] You in?
no subject
Nah, it's just-- that's all I know about him. He's just fucking nice all the time. [He'd always just been.... friendly towards him for no reason and showed up to check on him after he fought Rean and then Fie had given him some healing items made by Elliot, and all of this-- 'Nice' is basically the only descriptor he can think of for the guy.]
If he's got anything else to him, feel free to lemme know.
[Oh, but cards. He nods along.] Sure. I don't know too many games, but like you said, it can't be too hard.
no subject
I’ll let you figure it out. [ form your own opinion, dude. suffer with more nice until you can find better descriptors and qualities! and try not to sink his bond’s nosediving self confidence during. eren finishes separation the cards, and the symbols are pretty direct (???? he thinks???). after a moment longer to get a good look at them, from “strongest” to “weakest” card, he slides them all together and begins to shuffle.
not too experienced, but not to bad either. they can play good old poker or some old time variation that everyone knows. ]
Bets on anything?
no subject
As Eren shuffles, Shinjiro looks about to scope out someplace where they can sit and play, preferable with a place to set the cards down. The end of the food table seems good enough, so he walks over towards it and sets his (still full) glass down, dragging over two chairs for them to sit opposite one another.]
I'm pretty broke. Lost half my cash betting a guy to do something earlier. [But he had gotten so see Crow eat that crazy-ass jello-cake so it's not all bad.] But sure, if there's anything else you can think've betting on.
no subject
Your dignity.
[ that was a joke but also the truth. which means eren’s is already on the table. who needs money! he’s got a drink and a partner to roll with (who hasn’t touched his glass, hm). ]
Every round’s a dare, deal?
