[Open] Why am I here...
Who: Alpina and anybody who would like to come across her - new CR, existing CR
When: Just past the new year and through January
Where: Various points in the harbour district
What: She's getting used to the fact that her body is changing...or rather she's not getting used to the fact her body is changing
Warnings: Mild body horror... I'm happy to tag back in either/any tagging style so respond in any way you would like and I'll match.
[ Early morning - she'll be here most mornings ] She doesn't know how long she had been sitting there on the side of the pier. The smells aren't affecting her at all but it helps that it's early morning so maybe it's not as bad as it could be. She has been there at least long enough to see the sun rise. She's been more and more drawn to the water recently which logically would make sense. She has kind of worked out what she is turning into. And also worked out that there isn't really any way of avoiding it as much as she has tried to downplay everything. Just after the last full moon she has taken to avoiding everybody that she has known from back home. She didn't want to be seen like this. Not until she's...managed to reconcile it all in her mind somehow. If that was even possible.
[ Temptations ] As the sun is going down or sometimes in the late afternoons, the urge to jump into the murky water was quite high. To some people it may look like she was wanting to end it all but if those people look a little closer, there was something else in her eyes. There was something drawing her into that water. Something asking her to come home. A calling she has never heard before but was getting louder with each passing day. She sits there for long periods of time just staring into the waves. Some days she's closer to the edge than others. Her gills haven't fully developed yet, not that anybody can see beneath her clothing so it probably wouldn't be the safest for her to jump in quite yet but the call is just so loud.
[ Suggest your own ] If there's anything you'd like to do with me feel free to drop me a message! Give me a poke and I would love to develop some CR.

[ early morning ]
He has a guess as to what's going on. A guess that includes him because he's already lost teeth and had them replaced with newer ones; fangs that sharpen at the mere smell of blood. Not a big change as of now, but it doesn't bother him. He'd already come to terms with it before she'd disappeared. He can't change back to normal so he's just accepted it and moved on. But she's not like him in that aspect. He knows how much new changes send her into a mental tizzy.
So he gives a sigh and walks up to her before sitting down next to her on the pier. He doesn't say anything yet, wanting her to slowly warm up to him being around her now.
He can wait.
He can be patient for her. ]

His sudden appearance makes her jump a little bit she stays focused on the water in front of her. She knows deep down that if she ignores him for the entire day he still wouldn't leave but a part of her was hoping he would give up and go away.
She pulls her clothes more around her body like she's trying to hide the changes that have already happened. Although it's hard to hide the scaling that's starting to appear now around her wrists. At least while she stays seated the scales up her legs aren't visible.
It never occurred to her that Geiz might also be going through the same thing. She had assumed he would be more like Sougo. They couldn't both be this unlucky. ]

Hey.
[ Is all he says while he reaches over to gently grasp her hand in his own. He squeezes it a bit and just holds her hand for a couple of minutes before he tugs her in close so that she can lean against him while they sit together. He's not good at communicating, but he's known her for so long that he does know what he can offer and do for her. And that is to do this. Not push, but also make her know that he's here for her.
He squeezes her hand again and gives a soft sigh. The air is slightly cool so he lets go of her hand and wraps his arm around her shoulders, tugging her closer to him as he tries to provide comfort for her.
At the same time, he doesn't bring up his own changes. Not just yet. He wants to make sure she's fine first. ]

At first, she was nervous about showing any changes. As she started feeling comfortable to show the changes that were taking place, more and steadily worse changes started happening which made her want to continue hiding away.
Although a part of her knew she wouldn't be able to hide away forever. It takes her a few moments longer but she finally accepts the contact and relaxes onto his body. When she finally brings herself to say something, it's in a very soft voice. ]
I'm sorry...
no subject
[ That's the first thing he says in answer to her apology. He had expected this to happen ever since they'd first learned that they'd either be a witch or monster. He knows she would've probably at least preferred to be a witch because being a monster comes with so many physical changes. Ones that he knows she wouldn't welcome no matter what. ]
I gave you some time because you needed it.
[ He's willing to do that for her, but it's time now to actually offer support and no judgement about her changes. So he reaches for her hand again while holding her close. His fingers trace along the slight webbing before he gently grasps all her fingers together in a soft squeeze ]
If you try to hide I'll just end up finding you again. So at least spend some time in your room where we can easily reach you.
[ He squeezes her hand again wkth his own ]
I'm a monster too, if it helps.
no subject
I was so caught up in what was happening to me I forgot that...you could have...
[ She was apologetic, in a slight panic but also showing concern at the same time. It was a pile of different emotions. It's frustrating that this was happening to the both of them. Is it because they both come from the same time whereas there was something different about Sougo?
She isn't angry at Sougo just...she wanted to know what it was. Maybe if they can figure that out they could reverse...whatever this is. ]
Are you okay? Are you in pain?
no subject
I'm fine. I feel fine. I already formed a bond with Sougo so I won't go feral in the future. He'll probably offer you a bond too.
[ He pauses for a second, his fingers tightening around her hand ]
Don't argue about it. Just make the bond. It doesn't take that long.
[ After all, Geiz had agreed to the bond and Tsukuyomi is one of the few people that knows how hard that must've been for Geiz. So it must be important and serious enough to make him do it, right? ]
no subject
It felt like more than that. And yet Geiz...
Although, from her past experience, Geiz also seems like the type to just charge blindly ahead and think later. ]
It's about what you would be giving up to make the bond. And what if...this bond continues when we go back home? What about what we went back in time to do?
[ They have gone back and forth about this so many times. What do you do when you start to care about the one person you've gone back in time to defeat? She stares at his hand quietly thinking through the options. ]
no subject
[ There's an annoyed look on his face as he remembers learning about feeling each other's emotions after the fact that he and Sougo had bonded. The bastard had lied by omission but he's not intensely angry about it the way he would've been in the past. He's just vaguely annoyed in Sougo's general direction ]
You'll be able to feel some of how he feels and vice versa though.
[ Which is something he's not too keen on, but he'd adjusted and acclimated because it's not like Sougo can read his mind. He can just feel the general ebb and flow of his emotions. So the positives outweigh the negatives in that case ]
If you want, we can bond after you and Sougo get bonded.
[ If she says no to that, he won't mind. He just wants her to know that option is available after she bonds with Sougo. But he'll also understand if just being bonded to one person is enough for her ]
no subject
How would that even feel? Having emotions invading your mind from all directions. ]
Maybe try one bond first.
[ Another small pause. ]
And I would prefer it if I started with you but I read that...it's better to not bond with someone that's...the same as you.
[ She chooses her words carefully. Calling themselves monsters was still a little awkward. She wonders for a moment if that's how those people felt back at home when they were changed. ]
no subject
I don't mind. But . . .
[ He hesitates ]
You'll have to accept it someday, Tsukuyomi. It won't get easier until you do.
[ That she is a monster. Not a bad one. Not a villainess one. Just a monster like him where they change slowly day by day and try to cope ]
no subject
But he is right. What else could she do? There isn't anything she can do to stop this from happening. The sooner she accepts her fate then perhaps the less painful things will be. ]
I'm sorry. I'll go back to our room so...you know where I am.
[ She knows she's being irrational about this whole situation. ]
The water feels so peaceful though. Like I should be here.
temptations
It's familiar. He grew up near the water, another lifetime ago - maybe even two by now. He keeps his eyes on the water as he lifts the bottle to his lips, spotting her when he lowers it again.
Wei Wuxian's not sure what she's doing - or thinking of doing. He wanders in that direction, sitting down a comfortable distance from her.
"I bet the water's really cold." He smiles and sets his bottle down. "My Bonded's from a place called Gusu. They had a special cold pond there that was good for healing, if you didn't freeze to death first."
no subject
Alpina isn't one to be rude so even if she isn't really looking for the company, she isn't going to say anything mean to make him go away. Or perhaps she actually doesn't mind a stranger's conversation at the moment. Someone that doesn't care that she doesn't know where she came from or the monster she's turning into.
"A cold pond would be worth getting into if it can heal what's happening. I would risk being frozen to death." Her eyes stay focused on the water in front of her. A moment passes before she continues. "It's like the water is calling for me."
no subject
Wei Wuxian leans back on his hands, staring out at the water himself. But her words make him glance her way, eyebrow arching.
"So what's happening to you?"
no subject
"My body is changing..." There's another pause before she's pushing herself to elaborate just that tiny bit more. "My skin is hardening and I can't find a way to reverse it." Even though the scales were actually...quite pretty to look at if she could ignore the fact that it was her own skin changing.
no subject
"You must be like my brother!" His voice is bright, clearly not thinking it a bad thing. "He's a merman. I get jealous sometimes. See, we grew up on the water and I could always outswim him. But not anymore." He clicks his tongue before looking directly at her. "But I'm cuter, so I guess it evens out. Don't you agree?"
He's a puca with golden eyes and black bunny ears...as far as monsters go, he thinks he's pretty cute.
no subject
She hasn't actually noticed until now, being so lost in her own thoughts and frustrated at the changes happening to her body. Tsukuyomi takes a moment to actually take in the eyes and his cute features and then nods slowly. "You are...adorable. You turned fluffy rather than...cold." Her voice betrayed the slight envy. She would have much preferred a bunny transformation. "Did it..hurt?"
no subject
He reaches up, giving his own ears a tug.
"I even tried to have them chopped off."
no subject
The admission makes her smile, though. It seems to fit him though. This being cute. She almost has an urge to also reach over the touch those ears to see if they're really as fluffy as they look. "They're...a part of you aren't they? It would hurt to chop them off."
no subject
He presses his lips together and nods slowly. Even with Nie Mingjue's skill and sharp blade, it definitely would've hurt.
"But I thought they were embarrassing. And I hated being weak."
no subject
She should learn from this. Just, take things as they come and maybe things won't feel as bad when they happen.
Easier said than done.
"You don't look weak." She manages a small laugh while looking over his features. "Even with your fluffy self. You don't appear weak at all. I should learn to be more like you. Just accept what's going to happen to me."
no subject
He smiles at her for that. Truthfully, he doesn't actually feel weak anymore either. He's been in a few fights since then, and he's learned his own advantages. Physical strength isn't everything, after all.
"It might take a little time, but I believe you will. And no matter what, you're still you."
no subject
She stares at at the water for a moment before turning back towards the person beside her. "And you've only just met me." It's strange, the people that you meet when you're actively running away from your own friends.
"But thank you. Your words sound very sincere. And I feel like I should trust in them somehow."
Temptations
Which is why it has been so disappointing that Tsukuyomi has been so scarce from relatively early on. He's seem Geiz plenty; hell, he's formed a Bond with Geiz once he realized his friend's Monster status, but he's barely seen more than Tsukuyomi's fleeing back of late.
The fact that he finds her at the edge of the water seems like a good thing to him, because in his mind it cuts off her easy ability to escape from him. It doesn't feel good to have to corner a friend this way, but she's not giving him a lot of choice here.
It's with that preoccupation in mind that he approaches her, still somewhat unaware of the expression of longing on her face.
"Tsukuyomi!"
no subject
She wasn't a witch.
It has taken her this long to kind of start accepting what was happening to her and she was about to go find her friends again when the pain along each side of her rib cage started. The pain has now started turning into welts and she could barely bring herself to see her friends.
She jumps as she hears her name called out in that familiar voice and she turns towards him with a wide eyed expression. She then turns to the water and then to the other side of her, realizing that he somehow has managed to sneak up on her in a way that she would have to confront the situation she has successfully evaded until now.
"S-Sougo..." Her legs well hidden under her outfit, she remains exactly how she is but tries to hide the remainder of her arms under her sleeves.
no subject
He's not even sure what kind of Monster Tsukuyomi is going to become, considering she's been so cagey about what has been happening to her of late. As his gaze flits out across the water, however, he does have a guess to what it might be. He doesn't have any close relationship with a Merrow, but he has met some before.
Looking at the water doesn't mean he misses how she adjusts her clothing to hide her body though, and the smile on his face is a little sad as he turns back to her. Telling him might not do much to help her with the physical effects of becoming a monster, but it does sting a little that she's hiding it from him. It probably shouldn't considering how guarded Sougo has often been with his thoughts and feelings at times, but it does.
"I haven't seen you much lately. Have you been that busy trying to find a way home?"
no subject
It takes her just a little longer before she lets her grip slip and her sleeve slide up from her arm slightly to show off the glittery scales already working their way up from her wrist. Her voice is soft, almost apologetic like her past has appeared in a different form and isn't what anybody is expecting. Although, that itself is yet another bridge to cross if those memories surface while she's here.
"I'm not a witch."
no subject
It might be because Sougo never had to come face to face with this possibility himself. At least having helped Geiz through some of it means that he's more prepared for Tsukuyomi's struggle. He still tries to smile at encouragingly at her as she finally shows off her scales to him, and even holds out a hand to her, offering to take that hand she's been trying to conceal.
"It's not so bad not to be. Honestly, magic is kind of dangerous, so in some ways it's probably better not to be."
He's avoiding saying the 'M' word until she seems ready to say it herself though. While Sougo has gotten used to it, he figures it must be harder to apply to yourself when you haven't been here for some time now.
no subject
She reaches her hand out towards him, pausing just a moment before she places her palm on top of his own. Her hand is slightly cooler to the touch, not completely cold blooded yet from her change towards her new self but still slightly cooler than how she used to be. The most obvious change would be the webbing starting to grow between her fingers and the scales glinting from her wrist and along her arm.
As she rests her hand down on his, she flinches just the smallest amount. She takes a small breath and meets his gaze slightly more confidently but with a small amount of panic. "It hurts. My body is changing and the water is calling for me. Every day the water calls louder."
no subject
Noticing the cool feeling of her hand, Suogo is quick to place his other over top of it, as if she needs to be warmed right up. He doesn't know a ton about the various species of monsters, though he does know a lot of them don't run that warm. Still, it feels wrong to not at least attempt to provide a little heat to a cold friend.
As he looks back at her, his smile looks a little pained. Geiz had gone through a lot of physical pain as well from his transformation, and it feels awful that there's not much he can seem to do to ease his friends suffering. Almost unconsciously he starts to rub her hand to try and warm it up more.
"I don't think so... But have you tried getting in the water? It won't stop the change, but it might help make things not hurt."
no subject
Although she has a feeling that he has other reasons for suggesting things. Sougo has this way about things. A carefree smile hiding a dozen gears that are rotating in multiple directions just behind. She watches him a moment and then carefully extracts her hands from his. "I spoke to Geiz. I didn't realize he had gone through his own changes." She takes a breath, thinking over her words a moment. "He also told me you convinced him to bond with you. Somehow." A small smile touches on her lips like she couldn't believe that he had somehow already taken that step.
no subject
It really wasn't until his friends arrived that Sougo started to realize just how difficult it must be for Monsters. He certainly got enough hints of it with Mikasa, but she seemed to take everything with relative stride. Maybe because she was already used to transforming by the time he became close to her, while Tsukuyomi and Geiz are on the start of their Monster adventures.
He hums in agreement at the first couple of things she has to say, but looks just a little delighted at the accusation that it was a challenge to talk Geiz into the Bond. He's kind of thrilled to admit the truth of it.
"Honestly, it wasn't hard at all. We went and had a Bond set up after we talked it out for only ten minutes or so, because Geiz realized pretty quickly it was better for everyone that one."
He pauses, his expression getting a little more serious as he studies Tsukuyomi's face.
"Has anyone told you what happens to Monsters if they don't end up forming a Bond after a few months?"
no subject
Considering... "You would be able to hear my thoughts? Or something like that." It seems like you really let the other person in when you enable something like this. "What if it's permanent?" What if they go home and it stays like this? She wonders what would happen to all of them if they were to go home like this. Considering some of the things they've thought about doing.
She's carefully watching him. That seemingly carefree gaze. If she watches closely though, sometimes she can see hints of something else underneath there. Something deeper. A part of her wonders if the bond works both ways. Perhaps it would also let her see the gears that are turning under there that she knows he hides.
no subject
If his magic hadn't burned him up from the inside... if he hadn't ended up dead until the Coven could resurrect him...
He wonders if he would have formed a Bond at all.
But he knows the dangers for both Witches and Monsters, and he's going to be a little pushier about this than he might otherwise be. It sounds like it'll be a little harder with Tsukuyomi having done more research than Geiz about them, though...
"Eh? You can't hear anyone's thoughts though."
First issue debunked, though with Tsukuyomi it would be better to tell her now rather than let her figure out the surprise later.
"It's more that sometimes you can kind of feel what the other person is feeling, but you don't have any idea what they're thinking. Not really."
no subject
However, the fact that he has sought her out to discuss this and is now pushing on the matter is giving her an idea that this is much more important than she originally believes. She drops her gaze and gives a small nod. Important enough for Geiz to have made his decision quickly and not only that, he also sought her out to discuss this and press unto her that she should bond with Sougo.
"It helps that I've known you long enough that I think I can trust you." Her voice is soft as she says it. Not something she says out loud often. If at all. The fact that she hasn't attempted to kill him until now shows that there is some trust there, right?
"Currently my feelings are a little bit all over the place though with these changes. I'm not sure if you'd like to wait.." ...for her to go feral while she's biding her time until everything is complete before she commits. It doesn't occur to her that she may have another half a year of changes before anything is complete.
no subject
It's why there's something sad about the smile he gives her in response to that remark.
"I don't mind something like that though. Your feelings, I mean."
He hesitates for a few seconds, not sure if he should put the pressure on as well, but deciding it's better too. He wants to spare his friends some pain, even if it means they have to put themselves into a slightly uncomfortable position by bonding with him.
"It's probably not a good idea to wait too long either. Has anyone told you about going feral yet?"
