[Lightning crinkles the bag once it's finished eating its treat, and its large eyes dart to her with the hope of getting another one. She offers one in her hand, and this time, the kitten comes down to rest on Orchid's shoulder, dragging some of her hair along with its back paws, and Lightning tries not to laugh at that.]
Think this one likes you. You ever had one before?

[ Kind of a weird comparison to make with the kitten. Orchid is a big eater, just like this little kitten. Despite the messiness of her hair, she smiles with fondness, as well as relief now that she's able to keep better track of the kitten on her shoulder. ]
There were cats on the airship, when I used to travel. I've never been near any of them though.
[ Not that she was avoiding any of them. It was a large ship. Difficult to keep track of everyone in the crew or acquaint with every person. People were always coming and going. She mostly spent her time near certain individuals. ]

[And it seems that kittens are no exception to that rule. Bribe them enough and they'll do almost anything they want them to and go anywhere. As for whether that helps solve the problem of tuckering them out to get them to stop vanishing, that's another story...
A hand on Orchid's shoulder, she urges her to return inside the café, to keep their kittens safe from escaping up onto the store's awning again.]
They like to hide a lot or what?

I don't think so. The airship was just... really big. That's all.
[ She steps into the café, with Lightning's guidance, all while continuing to give the kitten some little scratches around its head. The scent of the treats continue to linger on Orchid's fingers, prompting the kitten to lick at them. ]
Ah. Ticklish...
[ Startled, her fingers halt for a moment, before she resumes petting. For all the trouble it had given them, she's beginning to feel drawn to the little one now that it's behaving somewhat. ]
I'll have to say goodbye to this one soon. That's kind of sad.

This is true. For all the time they've had to spend with the kittens because of the job, they still have to leave them at the café at the end of the day. Well, Lightning does, because she doesn't think she can handle this again, but that doesn't mean that everyone else has to.]
Doesn't have to be.
[She slides her hand up to scratch at the one she's been carrying, setting it so that it sits comfortably cradled in her arm now.]
You can come visit if you can't take him home.

[ As if Lightning's the one she needs to ask for permission. (Rather, she should be asking her new roommate if she's fine with a third tiny roommate.) Her eyes light up at the thought of being able to take the kitten back to her new home in the city.
Watching Lightning, she attempts to do the same, trying to shift the kitten onto her arm. She's surprised when it doesn't remain clinging to her shoulder as it had when it was on her head. It nestles into Orchid's arms, curling up comfortably. After the treats, it appears to be warming up to her more. ]
I've never kept a kitten before...

[She gives hers a scratch on the underside of its chin, and it seems to enjoy it. She can hear it purring in her ear, its eyes closing and its body stretching out to give her more room for scritches.]
Doesn't mean you gotta keep 'em, but I think a solid home would be better than having a bunch of volunteers coming and going and never taking them.
[If Lightning knew who Orchid's roommate was, she'd probably push for it a little harder. Mordred seems like someone who could use some joy in her life, or something to annoy the crap out of her. Either works. This is a big decision though, and she knows it isn't one that should be taken lightly.]
It's a commitment, but it's something to think about.
