[Even the "normal" arrivals seem to have that oops factor to them, too. What's normal about people stumbling into another world through mirrors? Where she's from? Nothing.

She picks a scone up from the plate and rips a chunk off, shaking off the crumbs that fall, and perches forward now, elbows on her knees as she takes a bite of the smaller piece. A smile pulls a little wider.]

Don't tell me it took you six months to get control of that tail. [Listen, she has to make up for all that missing time somehow!] Glad you managed. I remember it was a hassle last I was here.

This is a man possessed of many wise words, and these linger a while with Vex, who settles for an agreeable "hmmm" in response. One might argue their meeting here is fate, after all. And there must be some acceptance of the situation before one can reasonably expect to change it.

She can't help but notice the demure glance down, the colours changing in the face of her casual blasphemy. Taking the Gods' names in vain is hardly much of a sin back home (save, perhaps, in Vasselheim), but clearly Lan Xichen has some level of devotion to the gods of his home world to react this way. Even if said gods wouldn't approve of what he does for a living.

A bit weird. But Vex has lived with weirder in her time. ]

I'd appreciate it. He is very good at disappearing, but hard to miss once he makes himself known. [for a moment, her expression twists, uncertain, a pang for her closest family bond. Percy was here, alone, for a year. How long might she be here without her twin? They've never been more than a handful of days apart..] He'll be looking for me, for certain.

[ Guess they have the same idea there when it comes to the mirror. Plus, he's damn near sure someone at some point in time has tried it before and, going on a limb here to say, was probably unsuccessful in getting what they wanted.

A shrug, he finds himself giving a bit of a chuckle as he nods, letting his gaze wander off ahead of him. ]

There are worse places to be, you're right. But I had a one-way ticket on me before finding myself here. Retirement wasn't really in the cards for me. [ He glances around then. ] At least not like this.

Wolves, she's seen, even petted one. Hounds she's encountered on many occasions. This dog has all the energy and all the ferocity of a wild animal, and yet it's shape it's tragically unsupportive of such viciousness.

[Not that there's a whole lot going on in the city right now, as far as Lightning knows, and if there is somewhere else to be, then count her in. She has no interest in the performances and shows, and the only reason she's sticking around is for the food.

I can see why they'd decide a change of management was overdue. I'd imagine it was quite a turbulent time to witness. [and, no doubt, participate in - perhaps. One can't always predict how others will interpret and react to your presence, to your actions.] Even with their change in status-quo, is it best avoided if you are unbonded?

[ As a ranger, Vex is used to hunting, to tracking, to knowing the fall and rise of the land. As a member of Vox Machina, she has certainly fought more than her fair share of monsters - and some wore the shape of man.

But the land has always been more home to her than busy cities, so her attention is much more rapt for the description of the world beyond the city borders. She has a lot of learning to do. ]

Wilders? [that seems a term she should keep in mind] When they had a hunt a month or so ago for those of us who showed up without mirrors, I think I encountered a few creatures that had been infected. What exactly have we [the mirrorbound, no doubt] done to cause a slowdown?
