[ yu nishinoya takes his job as a temporary post boy seriously. between visiting houses and the instructions to stop people in the street every so often for product surveys, he’s caught at this moment, a souji seta, papers in hand and cutting off his path with a short stature tied to a grand voice.

the kind that might make your ears ring. ]

Good afternoon, sir!! [ even if they’re the same age, he has a roll to fulfill. he pauses, looks down at his script, then jolts back up after reading his line. ] Can I interest you in a prize winning survey for, [ looks down again, ] five minutes of your time?!

[ Having an enthusiastic bird pop up in his path certainly surprises him, but Souji does well not to startle and drop his things. He's been off on an errand, and found himself getting a little more than he necessarily needs, but is interested in experimenting with. There's such similar yet different types of food here that he just wants to learn more about it, see what combinations work, okay, who can blame this nerd?

But, he has time. Even if his ears are definitely ringing.

Amused, though, he tilts his head obligingly. ]

Only five minutes? Consider me interested and sold.

[ oh god yes. perfect. ]

Five minutes! [ he repeats, to signal that he’s starting now— as he reads off his paper and clipboard: ] Your diet consists of: meat, plants, both, other, specify?

[ Amused. Souji is so amused. ]

Meat and plants both, with things made from them like bread and such. I'm willing to try anything once, though, so if something is a little... different from what I'm used to, I won't turn my nose up at it.

[ Even if it's questionably edible. Nanako's science experiment will never be spoken of. ]

[ jotting that down and . . . good. ]

‘Kay— If you could have anything you wanted, with a questionable appearance, would you eat it? For example, [ pause. he has to read and reread this one. ] . . . “Eating a goo blob that tastes just like pizza”. Huh.

Like if you could drink barbecue . . .

Well, I'd have to ask - would it be like Japanese or Korean barbecue, or the more American style? That sort of makes it more difficult to narrow down an exact answer.

Because he's like this, he guesses. Souji asking the real hard questions that are going to make this longer than five minutes, probably. ]
