One Brings Shadow, One Brings the Light
Who: K'rihnn Tia and all of you!
When: February 1st - 13th
Where: Aefenglom's library, tea shop, and somewhere in the city proper.
What: K'rihnn's trying to get out more, and hopefully expand his friend circle from being extremely tiny to something... decent? Maybe? Info on K'rihnn's current changes as a Monster.
Warnings: Old injuries, major spoilers for Shadowbringers in marked top levels! Others will be added to the subject line as needed.
A: It’s Too Tall!
[K’rihnn is well enough to venture outside of the house unattended, though he still has to be careful to not push himself too hard. And to be more careful of his surroundings, as his right eye is still covered with gauze. At this time, he can be found in either the library or the local tea shop. In either scenario, the 5-foot tall Dragon / Miqo’te is facing down his greatest enemy yet. An enemy he hasn’t ever been able to conquer.
The top shelf.
He sighs and looks around. Once he sees someone who could maybe help him out, the purple-haired Miqo’te quietly and shyly asks:]
U-um… e-excuse me… do you have a moment…?
B:
[With Valentione’s Day coming up rather quickly, he decides he needs to make a stop at a local chocolatiering place. K’rihnn’s in need of equipment so that he can make chocolate at home, and he especially needs molds for cute shapes. Unfortunately, his load is a little heavier than he can carry. The purple-haired Miqo’te tries to make his way back on his own, but he needs to rest almost a quarter of the way towards home.
K’rihnn sits at a bench and tries to catch his breath, rubbing at his chest to help ease the pain some. This… is definitely going to be a long trek back.
On seeing that he’s not alone, he can’t help apologizing.]
Ah… m-my apologies if I’ve disturbed you….
C: Wildcard
[Would you rather have a different starter? Go ahead and throw something at me! Common haunts tend to be the library, patrolling the city, and various tea or music shops.]

In a way, you could see what they did as just another sort of banding together. Working together towards a mutual goal, protecting the city from the vile influence that had been spreading through it. Rescuing it, while others lay cowering from our monstrous presence.
[He's not entirely sure why he picked this specific track of conversation. But it was better than discussing how they were (terrible, no doubt), the finer details of the time they'd spent together, or- basically anything remotely vulnerable or uncomfortable.]
'Tis all a matter of who wins, K'rihnn. On our star it was you, in this world it's us- for now. And so we're free to decide who was right.
no subject
K'rihnn doesn't dismiss it outright. Rather, he takes a moment to mull it over and form his own counterpoint.]
Aye, you could... but you could also say that they were excessive with their fervor to protect what they held dear. 'Tis a fine line to walk, and I think most would agree that this was a step too far.
[Even pirates have their code, and those who break it answer to the rogues.]
I'll not deny that. There are enough examples in our own world alone. But... there's no justice in torture.
no subject
On that point, I suppose we're destined to disagree... unless you no longer find a Calamity to be excessive fervor. When it comes to protecting what one cares for, is there a line not worth crossing?
[A light shrug, as he settles against the back of the couch.]
Not that we Ascians would ever do anything like this to our own kind. Mortals, however, are rather more unfettered when it comes to morality. Obviously, what these people did was terrible. But worse than that, it was pointless.
no subject
I think... that depends on the individual, does it not? What lines I wouldn't cross may not be the same as yours, just as they aren't the same for the Rathmores.
[Absently, he raises a hand to touch the gauze covering his right eye.]
We can be. But there are morals that most agree to adhere to, generally. Still... I agree with you that what the Rathmores had done was both terrible and pointless. The latter almost makes it worse.
no subject
That word, 'generally' is where it falls apart. So long as you have those who are afraid of the different, or are selfishly inclined, you'll never have a truly functional society. But yes... the lack of real goal in mind turns their actions from 'lamentably short-sighted' to 'insultingly futile'. It's not as though we can be terrorized into leaving.
[A mildly-offended huff of breath, though he frowns a little as K'rihnn touches the area around his eye. He didn't much like seeing him hurt, for some reason, even when it was necessary.]
...Out of curiosity, what would you choose to do with those who had captured us? And- in case the answer should be different, what do you think should be done with them?
no subject
Aye, that's true. The best we can do is hope they can change and help them when we can... though, I know you're well aware that such a thing doesn't happen often enough.
[He makes a noise of agreement at that last part, though. It was definitely a futile attempt, especially with how easily tricked those people were into believing that there was a plan the Coven was hiding to send them back. After this display, K'rihnn rather doubts that theory holds any sort of merit.
The Miqo'te gives those questions some serious thought.]
I think... I would rather they were locked up and forced to live with their choices. Though I doubt many of them would regret those choices or even wish to redeem themselves... I believe it better than death. Death does nothing for the living.
As for what I think should be done, 'tis a more complicated answer. [He pauses for a moment to gather his thoughts.] I think what should be done... is appease the mob with the ringleaders of the operation. The rest should be forced to live with the consequences of their choices, no matter how misguided.
There's no easy answer, and that's especially true when so many got hurt. I could easily see the Coven being rioted at if nothing is done to assuage the general public's hatred at the cruelty that went on in their city.
