[She's silent except for the breathing through her nose. Bloody hells, don't make her say it, Vanitas because she doesn't want to believe it herself. She doesn't want to give in and would keep on going if she could.

But in the end, Mira simply cannot. Her mortal body has limits and she's exhausted hers. She's not running around with the extra boosts given back on her stars anymore and yet that need is still there.]

[ Van makes a little "tch" noise. Not quite the words he had wanted to hear, but they will do. For now.

Hopefully Mira doesn't mind going back into that chair because that's exactly what is happening here. ]

[She really can't protest right now even while being dragged back to the chair. Instead, she just tucks her knees to her chest and leans to the side like a child put in time out.]

[Might as well ask. Even though it probably is not the best but why was he adamant about her resting?]

[She hasn't seen him like this so much, not counting rescuing Emet-Selch so it does confuse her. Normally she is the one who seems to mother people, not the opposite.]

[ His face falls for a moment when she clarifies her question. Why is he being so insistent.

It's not like he actually cares, right? Right? ...But why would he not want her to fall on her face and exhaust herself? It's a poor question to ask him, Mira. Vanitas' mind is racing, looking for some sort of answer. An answer that makes sense to him, but he keeps coming up short.

Had Mira wanted to send him into something close to another panic attack? Because it's getting real close to that point. Especially since it also makes him begin to question the validity of his justifications for his prior actions. ]

[Ah, so that's it. Unsure of why showing some kind of kindness when you yourself never have ever felt it, huh? When you don't know how to put it in words but you just feel like you need to do it.

She should be miffed at how things were handled but after hearing his answer...Mira can't.]

Mayhap an instinct then. It isn't wrong to go on them, usually they're the biggest matter that speaks to you.

[Look, saying 'kindness' might get a smaller version of the man upstairs. This may help him get the idea that he too is capable of it.]

[ Yeah, Mira likely isn't wrong in that. Telling him that he is acting on "kindness" and "caring" will just make him defensive. May also set him into further denial. Though approaching it like this, stating that it is instinct...

Not exactly the best method. Because Vanitas is still going to question. It still gives rise to confusion and doubts that he isn't quite ready to process yet. Almost, but not quite. ]

Instinct... I haven't had any instinct like that before.

[ Look, taking a shot at her means he doesn't have to think too hard on all this. Besides... This is supposed to be about Mira. Not him. ]

So this is how this is going to work. You tell me what I need to do to make dinner and I'll follow your directions.

[Wait, he is offering to do the cooking? That she doesn't mind but...]

There is a table in the kitchen. I can give directions to you from there; it would be better than me shouting from the other room and I would still be sitting.

[ Yes, he is volunteering. It's not like he's done it before but Vanitas is good at following instructions. ]

I can concede to that at least. You're going to need a hand, right? To get there?

As much as I would love to say no, we both know that it is a lie. The help would be appreciated.

[She'll even sit up and hold out an arm to him.]

[ And now he'll help her up and into the kitchen. Isn't he such a nice boy? ]

It would be pointless to fight back this time around.

[Considering he simply had to tap her and she fell to the ground. Good intentions so she can't argue as both go into the kitchen and Mira finds the chair and recipe book she had grabbed beforehand. It was going to be a simple chicken soup after all and the ingredients were there. It just needed to be prepped and put together.]

[ Good. She needs to stop resisting and just rest. Vanitas gives her a nod and stands in the kitchen. ]

All right. Take me through it step by step.

[Nodding, she turns to the page where the recipe is bookmarked and adjusts her glasses to get a better look.]

That I can try to do. There is a pot that can be used but you'll need to chop up an onion, some carrots, and a couple stalks of celery before starting.

[Is this...bonding?]

[ Easy enough. Believe it or not, he actually has watched people in the kitchen to know what to get out. Pot. Cutting board. knife. Veggies. ]

How small do the pieces need to be?

[ This could be something like bonding, yes. ]

Enough to be eaten in one bite but not tiny.

[So good chops.]

Once they are prepared, you'll need to melt two tablespoons of butter in the pot and once it melts, the vegetables go in.

Tablespoons?

[ He's already starting to chop things up. Good thing he knows how to hold a blade. But no, he doesn't know things like precise measurements and whatnot. Mira might have to walk him through that.

Vanitas does make little chunks though. Just gauging on what he would think is too big. ]

[Hey he's doing good so far. Alas the butter did not have that nice wrapping which said which was what amount (what the fuck was that anyway to the fantasy land one?) so Mira decides to eyeball it by using her fingers as a gauge.]

It should be about this much for one.

Yeah... That's helpful.

[ Visual learner indeed. That doesn't really help Vanitas gauge how much to use - and really it's fine because Van's never seen that butter with the wrapping anyway. But he does as he's told and puts in what he thinks is the right amount ( but probably a smidgen more ) and watches as it starts to melt. ]

[As long as it doesn't burn, then it's all good. Butter gives flavor. Watching him and nodding, Mira looks back and checks what should be done next.]

Alright, once it has melted, put the vegetables in and let them cook for about five to six minutes. After that, the next step is to get out four cloves of garlic and chop them up finely and to put them in as well as the thyme and and two bay leaves. Those last two should be already set out.
