[open] pre-gaming, the dignitary variety

Who: Anyone invested in the Dorchacht Dilemma or planning to visit Dorchacht through the event.
When: Septeril 1st, late evening
Where: The Sly Seadog
What: Planning
Warnings: Who the eff knows

[ It was getting late in the evening, but it was crucial to meet up. Daenerys – with the help of some more technologically savvy people – offered invitations to anyone who seemed interested in the affair with Dorchacht.

They meet at the Sly Seadog: a run-down little dive of a tavern, found along a narrow back-alley in the harbour, frequented by sailors, welcoming to Monsters and humans alike. The crowd is dense for this early in the "night", but still a few drunkards pawning off their last bit of money for a little bit more booze.

It was not up to a standard she would prefer, but it's something and it's relatively quiet. Three long tables can fit enough people for their meeting – and there's some standing room at the bar. Time to get down to business, right?

Feel free to top level, make points, argue, etc. ]

That is was, that it was. [Everett chuckles softly, just trying to lighten the mood some given everybody's well meaning tenseness. The situation was not an easy one and with so many voices, a unified front to their diplomatic team would not be accomplished without organization.

First thing is first, though this is their second meeting, it's a better atmosphere than such an awful place as the auction block. Everett offers his hand to her in greeting]

I am Everett Vaughan, the Ambassador of the Springtide clan. A pleasure to meet you, this time under... somewhat better circumstance. [not much better, but better!]

[his shake is respectfully firm and kind, nothing commanding about it. A pleasant greeting that he breaks to reach for his drink, which he'd hardly taking a sip of so far, too concerned with his note taking]

That has a distinct ring of nobility to it. Would you prefer I address you as Lady Daenerys? I make a point to call those by what one may prefer. [Whether titles matter here or not, he considers it only proper. Though... Everett is fine enough, in addressing him, he likes to make his company comfortable and he has a good memory for such preferences]

And daunting a task though this may be, you are most steadfast. While that's to be admired, but I do wish to heed you towards a... cautious approach.

We shall need to walk and talk upon a fine line. I agree that our party should show no bend towards the demands for reparations. That would only condone the ways of Dorchacht as they are. On the other hand, I believe a fierce condemnation is also unlikely to sway those already so lacking in sympathies...

[a swirl of his wine, getting his thoughts in order, without drinking. Everett does speak carefully, this is all to be carefully considered]

In my humble opinion, I think it is best to approach from an angle of value. These are not people who will appeal to foreign morality overnight. If change can be brought about in Dorchacht it needs time to sprout, to grow and from then it can thrive. I believe the seeds are already planted, we need only cultivate what is there.

[... is it obvious that Everett is a faun and also from a culture that likes them some plants?]

[Everett listens and nods along, taking mental note of the stance so he can write it down later. Always good to keep notes!

He chuckles gently at the pointing out of the pun]

I think it better we speak of growth and renewal than flame and destruction, my lady. Though the latter can lead to the former... often the scorching of the land can burn away more good seedlings than tainted ones. [more seriously, he will urge with earnest empathy in his tone]

Justified though it may be, we should not start a war. The Monster we wish to liberate.... they will be the first sent to battle and they are the least worthy of our wrath. I feel that should be kept in mind, as we move forward.

That's also true. Even if it would make us feel righteous to liberate so many... what would happen then? Radical change would only cause upheaval, if there is nothing to support and uplift the Monsters in the aftermath. They would know not what to do with their new freedom. The Witches, then, could easily coerce them to return to their bonds.

[one could say they'd slip back into chains or something like that...]

This mission needs to be the start of a long term revolution. A slow burn, not a flash fire.

Not metal nor words nor spells. With hard work and determination, I believe we can succeed in a liberation.

[he speaks more personally after this declaration, because they should be friendly, speak as individuals and not just mouthpieces for ideals]

You have a kind heart, my lady. Your mind is also open, despite your powerful convictions, which I find most commendable. It gives me great hope to see such conviction focused towards doing well by those in need. That will serve well, to uplift the downtrodden.

That we do. [Everett speaks with assurance in his tone, hoping to put her at some ease. The rest of the group seems to be reconvening to start the talks up once more and Everett's attention is pulled that way.

His book is opened once more and he's writing diligently the remainder of the evening. If Dany has any need to recall talking points here, she knows who to ask for the record.]
