[open] pre-gaming, the dignitary variety
Who: Anyone invested in the Dorchacht Dilemma or planning to visit Dorchacht through the event.
When: Septeril 1st, late evening
Where: The Sly Seadog
What: Planning
Warnings: Who the eff knows
[ It was getting late in the evening, but it was crucial to meet up. Daenerys – with the help of some more technologically savvy people – offered invitations to anyone who seemed interested in the affair with Dorchacht.
They meet at the Sly Seadog: a run-down little dive of a tavern, found along a narrow back-alley in the harbour, frequented by sailors, welcoming to Monsters and humans alike. The crowd is dense for this early in the "night", but still a few drunkards pawning off their last bit of money for a little bit more booze.
It was not up to a standard she would prefer, but it's something and it's relatively quiet. Three long tables can fit enough people for their meeting – and there's some standing room at the bar. Time to get down to business, right?
Feel free to top level, make points, argue, etc. ]

Dany's words take up a neat page, all their own.
When there is some lull in the conversation, some taking a break to refresh their drinks and chat between themselves rather than at the entire forum, he moves to sit by her.
He leads with a joke, because of course he does]
How was the stay with your mother? [haha, you really clocked him...]

When Everett takes a seat, she gives a curt nod and of course.. scrunches her nose up. ]
It was your suggestion.

First thing is first, though this is their second meeting, it's a better atmosphere than such an awful place as the auction block. Everett offers his hand to her in greeting]
I am Everett Vaughan, the Ambassador of the Springtide clan. A pleasure to meet you, this time under... somewhat better circumstance. [not much better, but better!]
no subject
She hesitates, looking at his hand upon his introductions. Sadly, the clan and ambassador title falls foreign to her. Carefully, her hand grips upon his. ]
Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen. I will spare you further titles that will mean nothing to anyone. [ Because, whew it's a lot... ] Better in the form of no one being sold, yes. I welcome this change of scenery.
no subject
That has a distinct ring of nobility to it. Would you prefer I address you as Lady Daenerys? I make a point to call those by what one may prefer. [Whether titles matter here or not, he considers it only proper. Though... Everett is fine enough, in addressing him, he likes to make his company comfortable and he has a good memory for such preferences]
And daunting a task though this may be, you are most steadfast. While that's to be admired, but I do wish to heed you towards a... cautious approach.

[ Softer: ]
I do not plan to burn their city to the ground or kill their witches where they stand. That is not my way.
[ Says Dany in S7. ]

[a swirl of his wine, getting his thoughts in order, without drinking. Everett does speak carefully, this is all to be carefully considered]
In my humble opinion, I think it is best to approach from an angle of value. These are not people who will appeal to foreign morality overnight. If change can be brought about in Dorchacht it needs time to sprout, to grow and from then it can thrive. I believe the seeds are already planted, we need only cultivate what is there.
[... is it obvious that Everett is a faun and also from a culture that likes them some plants?]

[ Her words grow sharp like fire, burning faster than she meant for them to. ]
We will give them a choice on how to approach this. If our good will and trust is taken advantage of, they will be making a choice against us and hopefully Aenfenglom will defend us in that regard.
[ She... does not sound too positive. Too trusting. ]
Will you be speaking as flowery as you are here? [ HA. ] I joke, ser.

He chuckles gently at the pointing out of the pun]
I think it better we speak of growth and renewal than flame and destruction, my lady. Though the latter can lead to the former... often the scorching of the land can burn away more good seedlings than tainted ones. [more seriously, he will urge with earnest empathy in his tone]
Justified though it may be, we should not start a war. The Monster we wish to liberate.... they will be the first sent to battle and they are the least worthy of our wrath. I feel that should be kept in mind, as we move forward.

Do make note to keep that view. Fire does not simply destroy. It renews, revives, and allows for rebirth. [ Seeds, dragons, herself... Her eyes shut for a moment, breath drawn like the nerves through her trying to relax. ] Innocents should be the first priority. The Witches wield power with a single command — their well-being is affected by our actions.
[ Agreed, more or less. ]
There are too many of them to consider some form of unshackling — not if we wish to stay peaceful. I believe perhaps the team trusted to view the streets and suggesting an infiltration may be better suited worrying about them. For now.

[one could say they'd slip back into chains or something like that...]
This mission needs to be the start of a long term revolution. A slow burn, not a flash fire.

His words do not bode well for hers. Daenerys has learned to curb her impulses, to act more rationally because of her advisers but she feels it is hard to balance that sensibility now. Being brought here was horrible enough, her goals without of reach – but... now..? The sight of those monsters, the fear that she could end up one of them...? It unnerves her. ]
Their environment needs to change for them to learn how to live freely. I... fortunately am not blind to how long this could take. How sensitive this is. It frustrates me, but this world is unlike mine. I hold no power here, but I wish to ensure no monster or witch ends bound by metal.

[he speaks more personally after this declaration, because they should be friendly, speak as individuals and not just mouthpieces for ideals]
You have a kind heart, my lady. Your mind is also open, despite your powerful convictions, which I find most commendable. It gives me great hope to see such conviction focused towards doing well by those in need. That will serve well, to uplift the downtrodden.

Thank you.
[ Soft, a bit distant. ]
I am only one person, however. We have many more that will aid us.

His book is opened once more and he's writing diligently the remainder of the evening. If Dany has any need to recall talking points here, she knows who to ask for the record.]
