"Hm... Interesting. Although this doesn't technically disprove my assertion that my mirror is the most intricate and important looking one," she adds slyly before moving on. "Obviously the mirrors are significant to our arrival here but if we somehow came through them, and these 'fae' had anything to do with it, why would the mirrors be up at the coven and not with the creatures responsible?"

Okay, but, business. He thinks for a moment, and then shrugs his shoulder.
"I dunno... but maybe it's something like how the Diamonds could interact with technology on Earth. Some of Homeworld's tech was remote, and maybe all it took was something to trigger it? The Coven doesn't seem to know a lot about the mirror house works..."

She huffs, brushing past that first comment. "I suppose that does make a certain amount of sense... Although none of the tech I've seen here so far has given me the impression of being advanced enough to achieve something like that. Then again, I might be underestimating this place." It wouldn't be the first time she's done something like that. "Either way, it sounds like a solid lead, if we can follow up on it. Whatever gets us out of here and back to Beach City faster. This place seems nice enough, but..."
Peridot pauses, glances around briefly and makes a weird noise by sucking in a breath through her teeth. "Do you feel... Off here? Physically?"
no subject
"...Yeah," he finally admits. "I don't know what it is, but I've been feeling... bad, since I got here. Like I'm exhausted even though I'm not doing anything."

Without another word, she turns on one heel and marches over to a nearby food stand, staring with an unsettling intensity at the metal skillet the proprietor of said stand is using to make some delicious crepes. The vendor gives her an odd look as this weird little green woman thrusts one hand out in his direction and grits her teeth, trying to beckon the skillet to her open palm.
Naturally, it doesn't move. Peridot stops, and stares despondently at her hands.
"...Steven I don't want to be here anymore," she announces loudly.
no subject
"It's... no so bad, right? We both survived without them before..."
no subject
"...Yeah! Sure! It's! fine! We'll... We'll get by," she manages to grit out after a moment, tone strained as she tries to force that grimace into a grin.
no subject
"No... It's okay, Peridot," he says, carefully. "I get it. Back before I met you, I spent years wondering if I'd ever have any powers at all." He rubs the back of his neck uncomfortably. "It feels really weird, having it all suddenly be gone... especially when we would really use the leg up."
no subject
"It would be one thing if I still felt like my engineering expertise were of any use here, but all the technology in this world seems to run off entirely different principles! Without that and without my metal powers, what use am?"
no subject
"I bet you can figure this stuff out! You just need some time to learn, right? You figured out all kinds of Earth stuff just by experimenting!"
