I don't think I could forget something like this in a million years.

[He'll just stay happily attached to Vanitas' back, hugging him gently as he works those lunches. But he does finally let go so he can retrieve the juice and salad as told to set it out.]

You've got me curious, how am I supposed to sit through a whole lunch when you're got something to ask?

[He's mostly just joking. He wants to eat this wonderfully prepared lunch!!]

[ The salads themselves aren't overly impressive. An arrangement of greens and veggies. However there are strawberries cut up inside with walnuts. There's a sweeter vinaigrette to serve as dressing. Vanitas had just thought that it would be a nice change of pace to put fruit in there. ]

Because you're going to get a taste of something that you haven't had in a while.

[ It's only a couple of moments to warm the main course up. Van grabs the plates that aren't adorned with salad and slips something that looks like a chunk of meat onto Sora's plate. On top is smothered with some kind of mushroom and sauce. ]

It's not real meat, but it tastes like the real thing.

[ Vanitas has a real steak to put on his, but then he serves up some carrots on bother of their plates as well. They've been cooked in brown sugar and honey. ]

[It's the fragrance of the meal that hits Sora first. The smell of cooked carrots and sugar and honey sauce and something meat like that even as a rabbit still has Sora's mouth watering just a little. He blinks and sits down in his spot and really can't help the way his ears perk so straight up at the sight of cooked- mushrooms? Meat-like something?]

Wh- Whoa?!

[Sora's stomach is already grumbling so loudly. Brrrbrbrbb.]

It even smells like real meat?! How'd you make it?!

[Something that isn't meat that tastes like meat? Sora's in blissful heaven. He can't wait to try it?! Put it in his mouth?!]

[ Vanitas hears that gurgling and has to laugh. ]

Gee. Are you hungry or something, Bunny Boy?

[ Don't worry, Sora. As soon as Vanitas warms everything up, there's definitely a plate being put before the Puca. Go ahead. Take a whiff of all of those smells with that sensitive little bunny nose. ]

My secret. Don't worry. There will be more of this in the future now that I've found it.

[ Van puts his own plate down and sits. ]

Hopefully it's to your taste.

Just a little.

[He grins, hand over his stomach as he tries to quell the growling roars in his stomach. But it's pretty much moot as soon as his plate is set down in front of him. Sora's got such an expression on his face. He leans down to sniff and his ears droop in bliss.]

It smells so good...!! Vanitas, you're really nailing this Christmas thing right on the head.

[He means Modranicht! But he doesn't dive right in like a savage he smiles at Vanitas first.]

Thanks for all of this.

[He really loves it.]

It's the first one. I wanted to do it right... So I wanted to give you something you haven't had in a while.

[ He ducks his head for a moment. A little embarrassed by also swelling with pride as well. Being praised? Oh it feels too good. It makes his ears burn a little. All he had ever wanted had been to be strong and important. Sora definitely makes him feel important.

That's a feeling he wants to hold onto. It's a feeling he will do anything in order to continue receiving. Yes... Anything. ]

You're welcome. Go on. Eat.

[There's always something so satisfyingly cute about getting Vanitas to look embarrassed or to blush. Sora can feel that happy pride bubbling over their bond and it makes Sora's own cheeks turn pink as he tries not to smile too big. He has to resist the urge to tease Vanitas for looking so cute- Just enjoy this soft moment between the two of them.]

You're the best, Vanitas.

[Just one more happy little comment before Sora digs right in and takes the first bite of his meal. And just like he had guessed it tastes just as good as it smells. This chunky meaty flavour makes Sora's mouth water. Savoury and with a texture that's almost exactly the same. But it's not making him want to gag!]

...!! Hm-!!

[Don't mind as Sora looks seriously in heaven. His eyes water and he chews so happily he wants to whine.]

[ You're the best just rings about in his head. Echoes all around. It makes the red on his ears spread down to across his cheeks. His head is ducked down so Sora can't quite make out the soft expression that he likely has.

But then Sora digs in and Van's head immediately shoots up. He doesn't eat quite yet. Van wants to see how Sora reacts. When there's no poor reaction, his lips part into something of a sharp, feral grin. ]

So it does work out. Now I know what I can make you when you're craving meat.

[Sora really does look like he's on the verge of happy tears. He had to sacrifice a lot about himself when he started to change into a puca. The rabbit ears aren't all that bad. The claws and fur aren't new news to him either. But it was hard adjusting to things like his eye colour and other bodily changes. Sometimes he did feel like he was becoming a different sort of Sora.

So this? It just feels like a glimpse back to his old self. Where he didn't have to worry about what he ate or get cravings to munch on flowers and weeds. He can eat this and feel like this are just a little normal again. And that means a lot to Sora.]

I can't believe how good this is?!

[Sorry now he's going to start scarfing it down really fast...]

How'd you do it?!

[ Please don't cry Sora. Vanitas will know it's coming from a happy place, but it still makes him uneasy for reasons he doesn't completely understand. However, he does understand the frustration and the worries that Sora's had over the changes. Van has done what he can to allow Sora to feel like himself - from sleeping in to enchanting those eyes - he knows it's still hard on him.

That's why it is absolutely necessary to do this. ]

I asked someone about "veggie burgers." Someone also showed me different ways to use tofu.

[ So, again, Vanitas has went out of his way to try to find something to impress Sora. ]

[Luckily he's quickly over his moment of wet eyes and is just one happy rabbit-boy chowing down on his replacement meat and salad. It really does taste delicious and Sora's munching quickly with puffy cheeks.]

Oh right, that tofu stuff! It's great, I could eat this stuff every day!

[He is definitely impressed and so in love. Sora's cheeks are still pink and flush. His heart is so happy and content right now. He feels really spoiled and he hopes to spoil Vanitas just as much someday soon. He'll get Vanitas for all this!!]

[ He hums as the bunny boy continues to eat happily. Good. Vanitas had wanted this. He takes his meal much slower. This is mostly for Sora's enjoyment anyway. ]

I don't think every day would be good, but on occasion. Something can be arranged.

[ Now Sora's confessed to Van already. Vanitas isn't sure that he can mutter on about love. Not just yet. However he knows the emotion that he feels for Sora is strong. It's similar to the feeling that he feels Sora have. Like right now.

Sora can get his revenge on Valentines or their birthday. ]

My question... It's about being bonded for a year.

[Sora looks up from his meal as he finishes with a sip of his juice. The note makes him realize that it is coming up to a whole year for Sora having been in this world. It'll be just a month more or so, he thinks.]

A whole year, huh? Has it really been that long already?

[As they say, time flies. Sora feels a little nostalgic as he smiles, waiting for Vanitas' question.]

Time around here seems to go fast. Honestly I can't believe I've been here for as long as I have.

[ His fingers tap against the table. There's a bit of a nervous energy there. Still, he's going to ask. It's important to ask... ]

Did you want to... Renew vows?

[It seems like it was so long ago that Sora fell into this world with nothing but a confused expression only to latch onto the first familiar thing he found- Which happened to be Vanitas' Flood leading him right to Vanitas. What were the chances...

So when Vanitas asks that question, the little flicker of nervousness making Sora's fur tickle...]

Yeah-! Yeah! I do!

[Sora practically blurts that out, hand reaching out to touch Vanitas' hand for the need to be touching.]

There's a lot of things that are different about us too. The things we said back then and the things we'd say now? The stuff I wanna say now? It's ... yeah. I really want to!

[And then they could say their vows without Vanitas feeling sick from not bonding and it'll just be good.]

[ It's like it had been planned, that Sora should encounter that Flood. Perhaps it is fate. Who knows. Whatever the case, at the time Vanitas hadn't been pleased at all. That time is still a bit of a blur to him and he vaguely remembers what he had said. He had been delirious at the time with fever and pain. Then it had passed onto Sora...

He startles a bit at Sora's immediate answer. No hesitation whatsoever. Then there's a hand in his. Van's lips twitch and he squeezes that hand. Have they really reached this point? Where - ]

My thoughts exactly. This time it's done correctly.

[ How is it that they've come to know one another's minds and thoughts so well? ]

Great, it's a plan! Done right this time.

[They really are thinking the same things. If Sora looks back on it, it was such a messy time. Sora had only been in this world for mere hours before getting thrown (by his own volition) into a bond without really knowing much about it. But now Sora is sure of how he'd like it to go. And what he wants to say about the strength of their bond.

Sora's cheeks are warm with a new pink blush as he smiles.]

I really can't wait.

[ Now Sora hadn't needed to go through all that trouble. Again, Vanitas had been denying going along with a Bond right up until he had run out of energy. Then he just couldn't see the point. Vanitas had taken a chance on Sora and now look at where they are.

He can finish his meal without that nervous energy getting in the way. If anything, Van seems to perk up. ]

It won't be magical or anything. You know that, right?

[Sora has a piece of tomato in his lips.]

Huh-? Oh. I guess we don't really need to do the entire ceremony all over again.

[He tilts his head looking a little puffy and nostalgic.]

I won't lie back then it was kinda cool to feel your magic for the first time ever, though.

[That little burst, however powerful, was Sora's first taste of it ever.]

I'd think that we'd have to annul the Bond in order to feel that magical rush again.

[ Van pops a piece of actual meat into his mouth and chews thoughtfully. ]

That's not something I think we want to put ourselves through.

[ Besides. Sora can feel Van's magic wash over him all the time. ]

I could always cast a few spells if you're wanting to feel magic coursing through you.

Heh, yeah no thanks to breaking our bond or anything like that. Hard pass on that one.

[There's nothing that would ever make Sora want to break their bond. An exchange of words is just fine with Sora.

Time to finish up dinner. He smiles coyly.]

I won't complain about an extra spell or two though!

[ Vanitas feels much the same. He's never had a bond severed on him before, but he remembers how it felt for Sora to just have not one, but TWO suddenly disappear. That's not something he wants to experience. He's already had one void fill his heart for an extended period of time. Vanitas has no desire to nurture another. ]

You want a spell huh?

[ If that's the case... He sets aside his mostly clean plate. Vanitas waves his fingers around, a spell whispered on his lips. Out of the frost flurries he conjures they form two little rabbits that dance and dart around in the air.

How about that? ]

[The breaking of a bond is a pretty harrowing thing. And depending on the strength of the bond it's probably worse the stronger it is. So Sora is fairly certain that if something broke his bond with Vanitas that it would probably... literally be close to killing him of heartbreak- But he's not gonna think about that.

Right now he's going to think about the way Vanitas' magic always gives him a little flourish and a thrill inside of him. Feels good...]

Heh, yeah a spell just like that.

[He reaches out to gently poke one rabbit.]

When I first felt your magic it was like swallowing a big storm. And it felt like fire at the same time. [Sora snorts.] It was pretty exciting.

[ Vanitas would rather not think about it either. He remembers how it had felt when he and Ventus had been forcibly separated. Given how he feels about Sora, Van can only imagine that it would feel so much worse. ]

That's because when you first felt it it had been built up. I was like a balloon that was already filled with air and someone trying to continue to put air into it.

[ The frost rabbits won't last for long. Vanitas has only started to play around with his magic in uh... Non practical ways. ]

Looking back on it, I wish the experience hadn't been so painful.

[Sora nods. He remembers something about how it was like an overfilled glass. An air balloon filled with too much.

He gives a small easygoing shrug.]

It's okay. It wasn't like either of us knew what we were doing.

[And it's all fine now!]
