( Repairs and Roofing )

[ Should anyone ask Vanitas about why he would bother repairing anything, he'll simply tell them to mind their own business. To be frank, the pay isn't too bad and it isn't like the work is overly difficult. He's not attempting to be particularly helpful or aid anyone so that their homes won't start leaking from damaged rooftops... It's something else entirely. Learning how to repair the rooftops of these homes is actually practical. This would be a skill that he can use in the future.

Thus Vanitas can be seen doing various tasks related to repairs throughout the entire month. Perhaps he is bringing shingles and other materials to the worksites with a levitation spell. Or maybe Vanitas is on a roof ripping the damaged parts off and tossing them aside ( look out below! ) before putting the new pieces into place.

Whatever the case, he seems rather fixated on doing the task at hand. ]


( Veggie Tales )

[ When he had heard the request, Vanitas had wondered how vegetables manage to get up and just leave the garden. Then again, this is a magical sort of place so maybe they literally did grow legs and just walk away. However, nothing had really prepared him for this? Right about now he's stuck in a bit of a situation! He's definitely holding onto a piece of cat-shaped broccoli while dog-shaped heads of lettuce runs around his feet excitedly. ]

Go on. Shoo! Go away!

[ Vanitas is even trying to kick at it a little in order to make them stop. Ironically the broccoli doesn't seem to mind the ruckus. It even bleps out a tongue. Van is now giving that thing a look. ]

This is stupid.


( Clean Up & Clear Out: 2 options )

[ Just throwing things out in the street isn't very nice. Granted, Vanitas doesn't particularly care one way or another, but something does rub him the wrong way. As he's wandering the streets, Vanitas is picking up items here and there from the piles. It's about that time that he realizes that not everything that's being thrown out needs to be. Some of the items aren't actually broken at all or just need minor repairs. These people are literally throwing out things that can still be of use. Now that just doesn't sit well with him at all. So what does Vanitas do? Out of spite he starts to repair some of the items and set them off to the side - only for other residents to take notice...

Though eventually he leaves this endeavor - when too many people start following him around or asking him to fix items with magic - to find large piles of unrepairable junk. Their blocking roads in part and entrances to homes. More than anything, it's a complete eyesore. So Vanitas doesn't see anything wrong with burning it all down in a controlled fashion! ]


( Prurient Petals: No Pollen Shenanigans )

Not letting this crap get me a second time.

[ At least that's the idea. Maybe he wouldn't have thought to come back out this way considered what had happened prior. However now it is a matter of pride. Vanitas is stubborn and he's not about to let a plan and its unique pollen get the better of him. Nope! He is going out there with protection this time around - primarily a cloth tied around his mouth. ]

Stupid flowers are going to get what's coming to them.

[ Which anyone can see with the way that he swings Void Gear around. He brings it down onto one of those stupidly thick roots protruding from the ground and begins to hack away. ]


( Other Locations )

[ Over all, Vanitas is not an overly idle person. One of the place that he can always be found is at the library studying up on various types of magic. He tends to take to practicing magic as well. Right now his primary focus as been on Divination and Illusions for this particular month.

Vanitas slips out of the city periodically to be out in the Wilde since there is always a need out there. He can always work out his anger and aggression out by patrolling around the settlements and getting rid of any infected creatures. Vanitas might be a Witch, but his physical prowess and brute strength is nothing to look down upon.

At the settlements, he lingers only for what he calls "practice." By "practice," Vanitas seems to tend to minor injuries of the people there or even any Mirrorbound that won't give him a hard time about it. This can be anything from cuts to burns to even some minor sprains. ]

[ If nothing above seems to jive, but you want to do something with Vanitas either just post something and I'll roll with it or hit me up to plan something out. I'm pretty much down for anything! Just poke me on plurk or on Discord. ]

It wasn't exactly an easy adjustment.

[ For him it hadn't been a matter of being a Witch or not. It had been because of the state of his heart. Fractured. Broken. Vanitas had been under so many delusions that being here has been a huge paradigm shift. He hadn't taken everything gracefully. There had been learning how to process his emotions to learning what his emotions are... And then experiencing some that he had no name for. ]

For Fae? I wouldn't know, really. Both of my Monster bonds are Puca. So if you want to know anything about that particular type, I think I'd be something of an expert.

I'd be surprised if it was.

[Even for someone relatively stable. He hums thoughtfully.]

I'd guess there isn't much in common between rabbits and moths, but with what you said earlier...

[Maybe they're more similar than he thought, if they have related magical skills? He supposes he shouldn't be trying so hard to apply the usual logic to anything about monsters or magic.]

It wouldn't hurt. [He glances at the books nearby, left forgotten during the conversation.] But maybe I've taken up enough of your time.

[Even if he's interested to learn what he can, despite the momentary frustrations, it's entirely possible this guy has a busy schedule where Ferran doesn't. He may have started out the conversation with less manners than usual, but he'd rather not inconvenience anyone if he can help it.]

[ Vanitas gives a bit of a shrug. It's true that he had come here to study. But it isn't as though that's the only reason someone can be here. ]

Doesn't matter to me. If there's something we have in abundance here, it's time. [ A scoff. ] These books will be here even after another year has come and gone without comment.

[ So if the other really is interested in chatting, that's fine. Vanitas is a bit of a talker anyway. ]

Well, alright.

[If the guy is willing to continue the conversation, Ferran has no problem taking that opportunity. He can be fairly chatty himself when he has the chance, and despite the topic, sometimes it's nice to just talk for a while.]

So, two Puca?

Two of them, yes. One is a trouble magnet and the other likes to cause trouble.

[ Not that Sora can't engage in his fair share of pranks and tricks. Lavi, on the other hand, is just someone who likes to put his nose into things and stir the pot. ]

[Ferran has to wonder how close this guy is to his bonded, if this is the way he's referring to them. Either they're extremely close, or they're bonds of convenience only...]

That sounds like enough of a hassle even without any Puca-related surprises.

[ Ask an interesting question and one might get an unexpected answer. Of course Vanitas isn't one to bond with people out of convenience either. Since the growth of his heart is tied into his bonds, he doesn't want just anyone being his bondmate. He's selective. ]

You should see what happens when they get into a pranking mood.

[Ferran himself isn't one for pranks—sarcastic ribbing, teasing, or pleasant surprises, sure. But he hates to inconvenience anyone.]

Is that part of the whole trickster thing, or just a personality quirk they happened to have already?

With one of them, I believe it was part of his personality to begin with, yes.

[ Lavi is really a guy that likes to tease. There's no denying that. It's just made worse by the whole Puca thing. ]

As for the other... I'm not so sure.

[It's honestly a little unsettling—the idea that this place could change someone's personality, depending on what they become. Perhaps he'll only struggle further by resisting change, but he hates the idea of becoming someone he's not even without considering the physical aspects. He has a defined idea of who he is as a person.]

Did they struggle with changing like that, if you know? [Maybe it's a bit of a personal question, but he won't press the guy for an answer further. Besides, he's too invested in it with his own transformation in progress not to at least ask.]

Some things are harder to adjust to than others. Being something of a prey animal, one of them had gotten a little jump being around dog and wolf-like monsters. They'd become more hostile when angered and agitated and he would, of course, respond like any little rabbit would.

[ Which is not in Sora's personality at all. He is not a very jumpy person. Considering that the little wolf and pup had been good friends... Well. It hadn't been easy to adjust. ]

Instincts. That's why you Bond with a Witch, to help with those sorts of things.

[The brief flash of anxiety in his eyes before he turns his gaze away probably speaks to the hesitation not resulting from disbelief. A serious furrow comes to his brow as he considers it. Does he really have to refer to them as animals? Not to mention he doesn't know if the same applies to fairies, or how much he might be inclined to resemble moths, if his changes so far are any indication... not that he knows what the hell moth instincts is like. Aside from flying into lights repeatedly.

He rubs his forehead briefly. How embarrassing would that be?]

Well, I'm glad I got that out of the way, at least.

[ It's just phrasing. Not as if Vanitas really thinks of them as animals... Until they change into them of course. ]

Oh just wait until you start growing your new limbs or whatever it is you'll end up receiving. From what I've seen, that's not entirely a pleasant experience.

Yeah, thanks, it's not like I've had nightmares already or anything.

[Lucky prick, being a witch... As much as Ferran is an animal person, he's never wanted to be one. He just hopes the wings he had in that dream-reality are the only major physical change he'll have to deal with. The scales and fluff are aggravating enough.]

Don't worry about it too much. There are spells, potions, and enchantments to help ease some of the discomfort.

[ Vanitas gives a flick of his fingers and some of the books start to float back to where thy belong. ]

Sticking close to your Witch bondmate will also ease your suffering.

["Don't worry about it." Yeah, right.]

Easy for you to say, but... I'll keep that in mind. [He huffs, watching the books return to their places.] I guess the locals have put some thought into helping us if those are available...

It is easy for me to say. I didn't have to deal with it, but I watched one of my Bondmates go through it and he's not very good at keeping our bond anything less than completely open.

[ Meaning Vanitas had been all too aware of the stress, pain, and agony that the other had been in. He got to feel every single bit of it as if he had been experiencing it himself. ]

But even though many consider monsters to be lower class, they do what they can to take care of Mirrorbound it seems.

[Even aside from the sympathy that emerges at the statement, Ferran grows quiet at the idea of making his own bonded suffer because he can't keep his issues to himself.]

... right. [Even if Vanitas didn't have to go through it himself, it can't have been much better through a second-hand soul-bound observer. And that second point doesn't make him feel great about the situation, either.

Maybe illusions could be worthwhile after all.]

It's good he had you to help, then.

Correct. It is very fortunate that he had myself and a couple of others. So that's why I am making the suggestion.

[ Because Vanitas could have closed it off himself. However that would have hurt his Bondmate. In fact, Sora has purposefully made it a point to tell Vanitas to never do it again. So yes, feeling everything the other feels - good or bad - can be pretty intense.

But Vanitas is, over all, better for it. He's had to experience emotions that he's never known. It's expanded his capacity to understand them. ]

[Even if Ferran feels a bit embarrassed about it, he's determined to be grateful where he needs to be.]

I—appreciate it.

[He really needs to get out of his own head. Not to mention that paying attention to other people and their situations rather than his own is much less emotionally difficult.]

I definitely plan to make it as easy as I can. [For everyone involved.]

[ Vanitas makes a humming sound in the back of his throat. ]

Or just learn how to control your bond. Learn how to only let certain things pass through.

[ It's something that Van is awfully proficient at. But then again, he had been bound to Ventus for how long? ]

[He's pretty sure that's easier said than done.]

Is that something you can provide pointers for, or is it just something I have to feel out myself?

[ Now Vanitas has to pause for a moment, thinking about that question. Providing pointers for bonds... That's not something that he's really done. ]

You need to know how it feels, yes. That doesn't mean I can't offer advice once you're able to really feel and understand your bond.

[Ferran lets out a resigned sigh.]

That's about what I thought. [He's had enough experience with magic and magical connections to know it's not just something you can read or hear and suddenly do perfectly. He'll just have to do his best to pay attention to how it all feels...]

I'll let you know if I get there, I guess.

That part I can't really tell you about. I have never not known what it is like to have a connection with someone.

[ A shrug. ]

For me, it's an innate thing that I already know how to do.
