( Repairs and Roofing )

[ Should anyone ask Vanitas about why he would bother repairing anything, he'll simply tell them to mind their own business. To be frank, the pay isn't too bad and it isn't like the work is overly difficult. He's not attempting to be particularly helpful or aid anyone so that their homes won't start leaking from damaged rooftops... It's something else entirely. Learning how to repair the rooftops of these homes is actually practical. This would be a skill that he can use in the future.

Thus Vanitas can be seen doing various tasks related to repairs throughout the entire month. Perhaps he is bringing shingles and other materials to the worksites with a levitation spell. Or maybe Vanitas is on a roof ripping the damaged parts off and tossing them aside ( look out below! ) before putting the new pieces into place.

Whatever the case, he seems rather fixated on doing the task at hand. ]

( Veggie Tales )

[ When he had heard the request, Vanitas had wondered how vegetables manage to get up and just leave the garden. Then again, this is a magical sort of place so maybe they literally did grow legs and just walk away. However, nothing had really prepared him for this? Right about now he's stuck in a bit of a situation! He's definitely holding onto a piece of cat-shaped broccoli while dog-shaped heads of lettuce runs around his feet excitedly. ]

Go on. Shoo! Go away!

[ Vanitas is even trying to kick at it a little in order to make them stop. Ironically the broccoli doesn't seem to mind the ruckus. It even bleps out a tongue. Van is now giving that thing a look. ]

This is stupid.

( Clean Up & Clear Out: 2 options )

[ Just throwing things out in the street isn't very nice. Granted, Vanitas doesn't particularly care one way or another, but something does rub him the wrong way. As he's wandering the streets, Vanitas is picking up items here and there from the piles. It's about that time that he realizes that not everything that's being thrown out needs to be. Some of the items aren't actually broken at all or just need minor repairs. These people are literally throwing out things that can still be of use. Now that just doesn't sit well with him at all. So what does Vanitas do? Out of spite he starts to repair some of the items and set them off to the side - only for other residents to take notice...

Though eventually he leaves this endeavor - when too many people start following him around or asking him to fix items with magic - to find large piles of unrepairable junk. Their blocking roads in part and entrances to homes. More than anything, it's a complete eyesore. So Vanitas doesn't see anything wrong with burning it all down in a controlled fashion! ]

( Prurient Petals: No Pollen Shenanigans )

Not letting this crap get me a second time.

[ At least that's the idea. Maybe he wouldn't have thought to come back out this way considered what had happened prior. However now it is a matter of pride. Vanitas is stubborn and he's not about to let a plan and its unique pollen get the better of him. Nope! He is going out there with protection this time around - primarily a cloth tied around his mouth. ]

Stupid flowers are going to get what's coming to them.

[ Which anyone can see with the way that he swings Void Gear around. He brings it down onto one of those stupidly thick roots protruding from the ground and begins to hack away. ]

( Other Locations )

[ Over all, Vanitas is not an overly idle person. One of the place that he can always be found is at the library studying up on various types of magic. He tends to take to practicing magic as well. Right now his primary focus as been on Divination and Illusions for this particular month.

Vanitas slips out of the city periodically to be out in the Wilde since there is always a need out there. He can always work out his anger and aggression out by patrolling around the settlements and getting rid of any infected creatures. Vanitas might be a Witch, but his physical prowess and brute strength is nothing to look down upon.

At the settlements, he lingers only for what he calls "practice." By "practice," Vanitas seems to tend to minor injuries of the people there or even any Mirrorbound that won't give him a hard time about it. This can be anything from cuts to burns to even some minor sprains. ]

[ If nothing above seems to jive, but you want to do something with Vanitas either just post something and I'll roll with it or hit me up to plan something out. I'm pretty much down for anything! Just poke me on plurk or on Discord. ]

( said with a grin as lio swoops down to snatch the yipping faux-dog into his hands. it tries its best to escape, wriggling and waggling, but lio is just too strong. and as it decides to stop trying, the harpy looks down at it with one closed eye. )

You might look good after a bath. A cheese bath.

( mmm. tasty broccoli and cheese! and then he looks up at van. )

I meant you, by the way. Don't play with your future food.

[ There goes one of those Lettuce!Dogs... Vanitas looks up while still holding onto the Broccoli!Cat. That Lio.

Then he looks down at the vegetable in his hands. A cheese bath... Is that really a thing? ]

I'm not playing with anything...

Just saying.

( the dog is still cute though, and while lio could probably stand to add a few more vegetables to his diet, the last thing he wants to do is hurt the puppo? it's wagging what looks to be a floret that threatens to snap off, and he reaches back to make sure the tail doesn't become part of a crudité platter. )

Anyway. We have to bring them back, don't we?

( the brocco-dog bleps again. right at van. )

That is kind of what the clients want, yeah.

[ He's not being mean to them Lio! Van is trying to keep the dog creature and the cat creature apart. So they don't chase each other around. ]

So are you going to help or not?

Of course. ( tucking the dog under his arm, lio flaps his wings in earnest. ) How do you think we should go about this?

( he eyes the cat. it better not start anything! )

I could probably round up a few, drop them off where they belong. Or do you know some kind of magic that'll help? You're the one who has the most experience in gardening here.

( lio smiles brightly. )

[ Vanitas considers this for a moment. What would be the best method... ]

How about I round them up. Then we agree on a location to meet up at and you can take them back.

[ Lio can fly. This seems to be the most effective method. Vanitas isn't sure if his latent potential to draw animals to him will work on these things, but he is pretty good at tracking things ( and people ) down. ]

( lio hums, thinking for a second... yeah. that's probably the best way to handle things. it might be for the best that he stays out of sight at first, and then use his speed to help catch those that van might not be able to get his hands on.

with a sharp nod, lio grins. )

How about I follow you, and if any escape? I'll be right there to pick them off.

[ He blinks for a moment. Oh... Lio could just basically follow him. Why hadn't he thought of that? Vanitas gives a slight nod. ]

Also you could scout ahead too.

I'll do that. ( the harpy looks up toward the sky at first, then back to van. ) I bet I can get my hands on two of them before you can.

( minus the ones they currently have. with a frown, he inspects the dog. )

Can you somehow tie these up? Keep them from running?

Huh? Why would we do that? We should return these first and then go hunt down more.

[ So come on then. Follow Vanitas back to the gardens so that they can give back these veggies and go look for more. Vanitas doesn't trust his ability to be able to contain them. ]

( okay, well. that makes sense too! he can stay on the ground for now, opting to just... stick to van's side as they head toward the garden. )

I have to ask. Would you eat one of these?

( it's a pretty innocent question, right? )

[ Would he eat one of these things... Vanitas holds out his own veggie critter and reflects on it. ]

Probably. I mean... I eat meat. Cows, pigs, and chickens all have faces right?

[ So how is this any different? ]

Those are all born with faces.

( he gives van a nudge with his elbow. )

I don't want to say these are unnatural, but they're... you don't normally grow a fruit or vegetable and expect it to meow.

These might have been "born" with faces too. We don't know how they were enchanted to begin with...

[ Just throwing that out there too... ]

( he hums in thought as he continues to carry the lettuce. lio's pretty sure he can see the community garden not too far, so hopefully they can drop these off and then continue to look for more renegade veggie-animals. )

Yeah, but... mmm.

( lio grunts. van's not wrong. how annoying. )

However it happened, it doesn't matter.

[ Vanitas snickers at this. ]

So sorry. Did I upset you because you're disturbed by their appearance and I'm not?

[ Tease tease tease ]

I'm not disturbed! I just wonder why anyone would do something like this, if someone did.

( he's more bothered by the implications of the act.

when he stares back at van, he rolls his eyes but doesn't bother to hide the tiniest grin. )

So we can leave these in this garden and go find more, right? ( a beat, then: ) Wonder if there's an easy way to track them down.

To see if they can maybe? Who knows why they create what they create around here.

[ But they are almost at the gardens. There are others dropping off veggie animals to before departing to, more than likely, fetch more. ]

There's probably some sort of tracking spell, yeah. Could swing by the library.

( hm. that might take too long...? so there's only one natural conclusion that lio has come up with, and he shakes his head. )

Let me take to the sky then. Are you able to fly with your magic?

( he doesn't know if that's possible, so lio smirks. )

If you can't, let me carry you.

[ It might take a bit. However there are a lot of these veggie critters running around. it might take the entire month to track each and every one of them down, you know? ]

No, I can't fly with my magic.

[ Though maybe that is something he should also work on? Or maybe something similar. However Van turns to give Lio an odd look. ]

Hold on. You want to carry me?

Yeah. What, does it sound that weird?

( his wings are strong, and lio certainly has been training that aspect of his body. with a smirk the harpy gives them a few confident flaps. )

That way if we see a bunch of them, we can corral them up together. It'll be faster trying to spot some from the sky.

It's not that it sounds weird. No one's ever asked to let me be carried by them is all.

[ he takes a moment to look at Lio's wings. Just how strong have they become in the last couple of months? Now Vanitas is thinking that, perhaps, they should test them out. ]

We can give it a shot.

( well, that probably makes sense? it's not like pucas can fly and he doesn't know who else vanitas knows. but he doesn't doubt his unique way of making friends. )

Okay. Here, climb onto my back.

( lowering himself down, lio's wings stretch out so he can give van enough room. he's still a relatively small bird after all. )

[ Vanitas clicks his tongue against his teeth. Then he sets himself to getting onto Lio's back. This is... Kind of embarrassing. ]

I swear if you drop me, Lio...

I'd never.

( well, never say never is probably one of those very pertinent phrases right about now but it hadn't crossed his mind. lio wouldn't have proposed it if he didn't think he could carry the other boy for a long time.

as soon as van feels settled, lio doesn't hesitate--- he runs forward to get as much speed as he can before jumping up and letting his wings do the rest. at first he's a little slow, but eventually he gets to the point where they can be a little more than a few stories off the ground. )

Keep an eye out and let me know if and when you see some of those vegetables.
