[A: Quest: under new management]

[Sora is a new employee of the recently established Harbor District orphanage so he regularly helps with rounding up rowdy children, helping with meal prepping any other kinds of tasks needed around the orphanage. He is more than eager to try and coax other people to join in as volunteers too. Helping the kids cheer up, doing some crafts or face painting with them or even just sharing stories to help lift their spirits is always, whole-heartedly, welcomed.

On this balmy Autumn day, Sora can be found in the harbour area with a few of the orphaned children working on some papercrafts on the boardwalk. One of the children happens to be rowdier than the others. A small, orphaned chimera child that has quite a sharp set of teeth and a long lion-like tail. The child hops up to his feet and starts to run amok and Sora only has a few seconds to jump up to his feet to try and gather him up.]

Hey- Wait, you gotta stay with the group today, okay!

[But the chimera child decides he doesn’t want to listen today. His teeth are growing every day so he’s irritable and teething on anything he can get his mouth on. That might happen to be you as the chimera boy makes a beeline straight for you! Watch out! He might bite! Sora will attempt to scoop the boy up into his arms if the child doesn’t get to you first!]

Ahh--!! Watch out! Sorry!!

[These kids are all good and adorable, please don’t be too mad!]

[B: Quest: veggies tales]

[Planting vegetables in the community garden is a task Sora is more than acquainted to. As a puca Sora’s appetite for anything green and freshly grown can be quite voracious. Since turning into a monster Sora’s stomach has become almost completely vegetarian because of his new rabbit-like behaviours so working in the garden is more like a labour of love too.

He’s hunkered down in the gardens that day working on planting some fresh cauliflower bulbs with a carefree tune on his lips. His rabbit ears twitch once he finishes another patch with a pat of his hand. But after a moment he seems to frown as he sees the ground start to wiggle.]

Huh? What the-!

[And just like that a small cat head pops out of the ground and lets out a tiny meow. Its leaf-like ears flicker and it starts to try to wiggle out of the ground. The kitten looks like it is half-plant and half-feline! It has green and white splotches with a matching leafy mane around its neck.]

Did you just grow out of the ground?!

[This cauliflower-shaped cat might be in for some trouble! Or will it be giving its own trouble?!]

[C: Quest: shawl about love]

[There happens to be a task to help someone in love find their one true love. Truth be told Sora is a big romantic at heart so he couldn’t really pass up the idea of helping someone find their one true love. This task requires Sora to offer a shawl to various different people in order to see if they happen to be the one. Sora has a gray but magical piece of cloth that will turn blue if they wear it and happen to be that one destined person.

Sora hops up to anyone who might seem willing with a friendly smile and a curious twitch of his long brown-furred rabbit ears.]

Hey there! I’m trying to help someone out, could you try to see if this charm works on you?

[He’s asking around for anyone to give the shawl a try! Maybe you’ll find true love today!]

[D: Quest: a watery pit]

[There have been missing reports of a merrow gone missing with all leads connecting back to River Temese. Sora decides to help out with the search in order to find the missing merrow. He’s not an aquatic type monster but he’s more than capable of swimming and holding his breath so he feels like he should help out.

Near the river Sora sniffs at the air for any traces of lingering monster scents or witch signatures that might give him a clue.]

That’s weird... I think I can smell something different but it all ends right here at the riverbank.

[He’d be more than willing to team up with anyone to help find the missing merrow somewhere nearby. And discover the reason why the merrow went missing in the first place.]

Yeah, just a second!

[Sora is somewhere in the background rooting through the closet for something that he misplaced. Since moving in Sora's chaotic organizational skills have maybe started to take over their now shared room. It's not too bad yet but Sora's already starting to misplace things...]

Here we go!

[Sora pulls out the bag he had been wanting to use to carry some of their things on this little expedition. It has a holster attached to it just for a keyblade. How handy.]

Do you think we'll need a whole lot of stuff? I guess just some snacks. Maybe a charm or two in case there's poison in that pollen stuff.

[They're off to smack around and demolish some plants. How hard can all of that be? Sora might have left most of the research to Vanitas but he gets the general gist of the task. Find these overgrown plants and take them down before they cause more damage and something something avoid the toxic pollen.]

[ That's something that is definitely going to be fixed in the future. Vanitas can't stand to have this misplaced or in disarray. He'll get Sora organized one way or another, even if he does have to bully his Bondmate into it. ]

There's no poison in the pollen, Sora. They use it to make love potions and crap like that. No one said anything about it being poisonous.

[ Vanitas sees Sora taking his Keyblade... That's kind of the final factor in his own decision. He straps it to his back. Thankfully he had made sure that the enchantment on one of his earring had been renewed. His elemental spells should be augmented. So, sure! That should be all that they need.

He nods and they start making their trip towards the Wall. They'll be going just outside it so it's not as if it's a day trip. ]

You did grab something to replenish magical energy, yeah?

[Sora's ears twitch when Vanitas happens to check his charm and Sora's own earring jingles. With that, he straps his bag to his back and makes sure his own keyblade is ready to go alongside a few extra trinkets and things he packs. It's still fairly annoying to Sora to have to carry his Kingdom Key as he has to now. He misses the days where it was the second part of his body, summoning into his palm like a breath of air. But it is what it is.

He falls into step with Vanitas. With only a slight shiver on his breath from the autumn air. At least the wilde should prove to be a few degrees warmer.]

I think so! [Sora takes a second to shuffle through his things.] I've got a couple of potions and a few fruit jellies too.

[Apparently the fruit jellies also restore some energy.]

So these flower things are really used for making love potions? Is that why we need to bring some parts back?

[ Vanitas can completely relate to the fact that he wishes that Void Gear was more portable. Having to actually physically carry it around is just irritating and inconvenient. However he still doesn't necessarily wish to leave it behind either. Void Gear is as much a part of him as Sora is, in a way... ]

Jellies too? Are you sure that's for energy and not for your own enjoyment?

[ He teases and gives Sora a shoulder bump to reinforce that fact. ]

Anyway, yeah I guess. That's what the pollen is used for. The other parts I really don't know. It's not too far outside the Wall though.

[Sora rocks his shoulder back against Vanitas with a little knowing smile on his lips.]

For... our enjoyment I'll have you know!

[So yes, maybe they are a bit of a treat too.]

Alright! Let's get this show on the road then. I wonder how weird the plants are going to be. Everything in the wilde is a little weird.

[With that Sora picks up their pace with an excited bounce in his step. Adventure time! As usual as soon as they pass the Wall the temperature seems to warm to that of what Spring should be like. Everything is greener too.]

[ Van only snickers as he's pushed. ]

I saw them already. They're pretty big but other than that? They don't look like they're that big of a deal.

[ But the locals, especially the Monsters, seem to be uneasy about them. So there's probably a reason that the flowers need to be gotten rid of. Again, it doesn't take long to get to a patch of flowers. It's a short distance from the Wall to the edge of the Wilde itself.

As soon as they are there, Vanitas gets out Void Gear and places the tip into the ground. ]

You're pretty used to beating up plants, aren't you?

Whoa- Whoa!

[Sora is a bit taken aback by the collection of strange-looking reddish flowers that they come across anyway. They are mangled and overgrown and seem to have long wrapping roots everywhere. The big red petals are also spread out and wide and Sora can see why these could be such a big problem. There's just so much of them in this patch. It seems like they're everywhere. How can anything else grow?]

You're right but back then I had fire magic too. So I'll have to leave that part up to you this time.

[Sora hops a little closer to the first collection that they see. His own keyblade in hand as he reaches out to poke one red petal with it. These things aren't anything like moving plant-shaped enemies at least.]

[ Vanitas hadn't noticed the roots choking out other life before. Now he really does see the importance of getting rid of these flowers. They're invasive even if they aren't toxic. ]

Fire, huh...

[ He looks at his hand for a moment. Then his gaze shifts to Sora's Keyblade. ]

Give me your Keyblade for a moment.

[ Vanitas has an idea. ]

Huh? What're you gonna do?

[There's a spark of interest in Sora's yellow eyes before he takes a few steps back and offers his keyblade out to Vanitas to take. They have never shared weapons before so he's intrigued to see what Vanitas might do. In the past, he would never have even fathomed Vanitas holding Kingdom Key so that alone is interesting to see.

But since they're talking fire he's really expecting a bit of a fire show. Awesome.]

You'll see.

[ Seeing him with Kingdom Key probably is as strange as Sora holding Void Gear. They might look the same but they are completely different too. Their Keyblades reflect those differences so clearly.

He holds it in both hands. Then Vanitas places his hand on the metal of the shaft. He takes a deep breath and closes his eyes. Muttering, Van's hand immediately ignites into flames. As he draws his hand down the Keyblade, the flames linger and swirl around the weapon itself.

Van has given Sora's Keyblade an enchantment of flame. ]

Here we are.

Whoa-! Fire keyblade!!

[Sora absolutely cannot contain the stupid and boyish whoop he gives as he takes back an actual fire-enchanted Kingdom Key. He's practically ready to hop up and down with glee. Fire is good, fire is explosive!]

Thanks, Vanitas! This is so cool! You're so cool!

[Is there anything his witch can't do? Sora might be inwardly preening.]

[ Vanitas snorts, taking out Void Gear. He'll also add the same enchantment to his own Keyblade. However where Sora's flames burn the usual colors, Vanitas elects to use dark fire. It suits him better than something plan, right? ]

I know it is. However I figure it will also speed things up, right?

[ Sora can be proud, but Vanitas actually has put in a lot of work when it comes to his magic. He's studied up and practiced until he's confident in his abilities. ]

Time to put it to the test!

[ And so he brings Void Gear down on one of those roots with all of the force that he can muster. ]

[Of course Vanitas picks the very fashionable dark fire to enchant his own keyblade with. Sora is not surprised at all. Still standing proud as he rubs his nose and watches Vanitas take the first swing.

Like nature intended the large roots seem to go up in a loud whoosh of flames as soon as Vanitas brings his weapon down. The flowers seem to start to shrivel back at the heat. And the root is cut like a hot knife through butter.]

It works like a charm!

[But it has aggravated the flowers now. Some of the large red petals are starting to open with a thin stream of something on the wind.]

[ Vanitas isn't really going to pay too much attention to the flowers opening up. It's to be expected. The pollen isn't toxic after all so what's the point in worrying about it? ]

Spell won't last too long through. So let's get to work on this patch. Save what you can.

[ Because they are here to collect bits and pieces too. So Vanitas slices a petal clean off and levitates it over to the side. He's going to attempt to get a small vial out to get at some of the pollen as well. ]

Collect first. Destroy later.

Right, got it!

[Sora hops right to it. He starts on his own flower nearby to Vanitas. Using his newly enchanted weapon to slice and cut away at flower petals and shove into his bag. He cuts away at roots that are in the way and takes a bit of the root in good condition too.]

This isn't so hard.

[Yet there is something that is tickling Sora's sensitive monster nose. The smell of plant pollen is faint but there's something distinctly sharp about it. Huh. He'll ignore it for now!]

[ That's pretty much how Vanitas handles this too. He's able to collect a bit of pollen from one flower and a couple of petals. He doesn't realize quite yet that he's breathing in the pollen and thus... Well... ]

Not really. It's not like they are fighting back. They're just stupidly sturdy.

[ Once he's done filling that vial, Vanitas twirls Void Gear and suddenly brings that Keyblade down right into the center of the flower. It kicks up some more pollen right before it starts to burn and Vanitas sneezes.

Van doesn't have that sensitive Puca nose. He has no idea about any faint scents that could be picked up. ]

[The whoosh of pollen that kicks up into the air when that happens is enough for Sora to whirl around. He catches Vanitas sneeze and lets out a laugh at him-]

Ahah-! Aahhh!

[But the laughter makes him inhale a bunch of the pollen awkwardly so he hacks a bit before he wipes his nose. It burns in a weird way up his nose and he swears it makes his heart start to quicken.]

The pollen is getting all over the place!

[ His sneeze is probably one of the only instances where he sounds exactly like Sora without even really meaning to. He can't help it that his voice gets high pitched! He's already rubbing at his face when he catches Sora doing it and snickers in return. ]

Yeah... Maybe a self defense mechanism?

[ Or possibly triggered by the heat... So perhaps? Vanitas clicks his tongue. With a wave of his hand, the flower closest to Sora at this point begins to freeze. Encasing it in ice will make sure that the pollen doesn't get kicked up, right? The parts of the flower will be useless, but sacrifices. ]

Try that. Smash it.

[Sora doesn't really remember having any sort of bad allergies so he's a bit surprised at how much the pollen burns his nose. He continues to rub at his nose until the feeling subsides but it leaves him a bit dizzy and warm. Warm...?

Once the flower is frozen under Vanitas' magic he tries to clear his head with a shake and turns back to the flower with a nod. No time to really be dawdling because of an itchy nose. He brings his keyblade down on the frozen flower which cracks it up in a slightly vaporized effect. Sora is able to kneel down and pluck a few good pieces out of the mess before he moves onto another flower.]

We should be able to get most of this patch done if we don't keep sneezing, I guess.

[ Vanitas himself is feeling a little warm. Perhaps not really dizzy. Not quite yet. Likely because of Sora being a Puca, right? Still, he keeps an eye on the other and notices how much he's rubbing his nose. It's only because of the pollen, right?

The good part is... Pollen doesn't get kicked up once Sora smashes the flower. That's exactly what he had hoped for. Vanitas nods, taking a deep breath, inhaling the pollen on his clothes and on his person unknowingly in the process. ]

Then we should probably head back. Let's make this easier on us both.

[ Even Sora should feel the draw on some of his own strength as Vanitas channels magical energies. He needs enough to cover this entire patch in ice. Which he intends to do with a massive blizzard spell. Once done, he is a little dizzy and has to lean against his Keyblade slightly. ]

All right. Let's go.

[Sora does his best to destroy and collect everything that he can while keeping out of the way of the ice magic. Once he's satisfied with his own work he quickly makes his way over to Vanitas to support him. He can feel the magic filtering through his own body so he wills some of his own nerves over their bond to the witch.]

I got you.

[He reaches out to physically support Vanitas too, looping their arms together. And he's sure to pull out one of the fruit gummies he has to and offers it right to Vanitas' lips.]

Eat this then we can make our way back, easy as that.

[ They really do make a pretty good team, outside of their ah. Partnership. Each is utilizing their strengths in this situation. For Vanitas, it is making a quick logical assessment about what action they need to take. Finding a weakness and exploiting it. For Sora, it is running around with his boundless energy and skill, cutting the flowers down with ease. Van is even impressed that Sora has taken up the task of collecting what he can. The Puca hadn't been asked to do that at this point.

Then Sora is there at his side. Van slides off of his Keyblade to lean more against the other. ]

Heh. Good thing your little Monster energies can keep up with me.

[ Now he's really starting to feel warm and light-headed. It has little to do with his magic depletion. Rather he leans against Sora more, taking in a deep breath - inhaling the other's scent. Sora at the moment smells pretty good? Even with the gummy being held to his lips, Van's focus is starting to shift. Sure, he eats it, but seems to be a little distracted. ]

Good. It's too warm out here.

[There is a split second where Sora just watches the way that Vanitas' lips curl around the offered gummy. He can feel the slight heat from his breath on his fingertips and Sora's brain starts to wander away before he shakes his head quickly. Where did that come from...]

Erm- Right! Time to head back and drop this stuff off before it burns a hole in my bag.

[With a laugh, Sora attends to Vanitas so they can start heading back. He's still picking to stay close. As they make their way back to the city walls Sora notices that he too is feeling a little warm around the collar. Is he getting a fever...? No way.]

[ Breath and tongue, really. Since when does Vanitas ever just not tease when Sora wants to get those fingers near his mouth? Whatever the case, Vanitas nods. It takes a minute or so before he can feel his reserves replenish somewhat. ]

Should make enough off of this to last a while.

[ Vanitas should be okay to walk on his own without support. That gummy is just enough to do this. Yet he doesn't really stop leaning against Sora either. Thankfully they don't really have far to walk before they're at the Wall. However, by the time they get there? Vanitas is feeling a little out of sorts. It's getting hard to focus on the task at hand... ]

Augh... Maybe we turn in all of that stuff tomorrow.

[By the time they hit the wall Sora is also feeling the odd heat and fever start to creep up on him. His skin feels flushed and itchy and anytime that Vanitas seems to brush up against him or otherwise Sora's gaze seems to linger on Vanitas' lips. When did he like to stare at those so much...?

Sora's fingers reach for Vanitas' hand and he curls their fingers together with a slightly insistent tug.]

... Yeah, let's go home for now! We can drop off the flowers tomorrow. Let's go rest?

[There's a flash of heat in Sora's eyes as he can sense Vanitas' magic restoring slowly and his scent starts to make Sora feel... like he wants to cuddle. And he doesn't really wait for Vanitas to agree or not he's suddenly tugging them back towards home.]
