[A: Quest: under new management]

[Sora is a new employee of the recently established Harbor District orphanage so he regularly helps with rounding up rowdy children, helping with meal prepping any other kinds of tasks needed around the orphanage. He is more than eager to try and coax other people to join in as volunteers too. Helping the kids cheer up, doing some crafts or face painting with them or even just sharing stories to help lift their spirits is always, whole-heartedly, welcomed.

On this balmy Autumn day, Sora can be found in the harbour area with a few of the orphaned children working on some papercrafts on the boardwalk. One of the children happens to be rowdier than the others. A small, orphaned chimera child that has quite a sharp set of teeth and a long lion-like tail. The child hops up to his feet and starts to run amok and Sora only has a few seconds to jump up to his feet to try and gather him up.]

Hey- Wait, you gotta stay with the group today, okay!

[But the chimera child decides he doesn’t want to listen today. His teeth are growing every day so he’s irritable and teething on anything he can get his mouth on. That might happen to be you as the chimera boy makes a beeline straight for you! Watch out! He might bite! Sora will attempt to scoop the boy up into his arms if the child doesn’t get to you first!]

Ahh--!! Watch out! Sorry!!

[These kids are all good and adorable, please don’t be too mad!]

[B: Quest: veggies tales]

[Planting vegetables in the community garden is a task Sora is more than acquainted to. As a puca Sora’s appetite for anything green and freshly grown can be quite voracious. Since turning into a monster Sora’s stomach has become almost completely vegetarian because of his new rabbit-like behaviours so working in the garden is more like a labour of love too.

He’s hunkered down in the gardens that day working on planting some fresh cauliflower bulbs with a carefree tune on his lips. His rabbit ears twitch once he finishes another patch with a pat of his hand. But after a moment he seems to frown as he sees the ground start to wiggle.]

Huh? What the-!

[And just like that a small cat head pops out of the ground and lets out a tiny meow. Its leaf-like ears flicker and it starts to try to wiggle out of the ground. The kitten looks like it is half-plant and half-feline! It has green and white splotches with a matching leafy mane around its neck.]

Did you just grow out of the ground?!

[This cauliflower-shaped cat might be in for some trouble! Or will it be giving its own trouble?!]

[C: Quest: shawl about love]

[There happens to be a task to help someone in love find their one true love. Truth be told Sora is a big romantic at heart so he couldn’t really pass up the idea of helping someone find their one true love. This task requires Sora to offer a shawl to various different people in order to see if they happen to be the one. Sora has a gray but magical piece of cloth that will turn blue if they wear it and happen to be that one destined person.

Sora hops up to anyone who might seem willing with a friendly smile and a curious twitch of his long brown-furred rabbit ears.]

Hey there! I’m trying to help someone out, could you try to see if this charm works on you?

[He’s asking around for anyone to give the shawl a try! Maybe you’ll find true love today!]

[D: Quest: a watery pit]

[There have been missing reports of a merrow gone missing with all leads connecting back to River Temese. Sora decides to help out with the search in order to find the missing merrow. He’s not an aquatic type monster but he’s more than capable of swimming and holding his breath so he feels like he should help out.

Near the river Sora sniffs at the air for any traces of lingering monster scents or witch signatures that might give him a clue.]

That’s weird... I think I can smell something different but it all ends right here at the riverbank.

[He’d be more than willing to team up with anyone to help find the missing merrow somewhere nearby. And discover the reason why the merrow went missing in the first place.]

[ As often as Vanitas goes out into the Wilde on his trips, he has known immediately what the locals within the city had started to grow concerned about. A lot of these bigger plants had started to encroach the cleared areas of the Wilde, and they're pretty hard to miss. Vanitas hadn't really thought that they were a problem, naturally. It's not until people started to talk about them that he took note. Then when when the notice goes out that these flowers need to be dealt with? Again, he doesn't really see the issue. It's not dangerous, right?

However it seems they are pretty pesky and that getting the pollen or any part of the plant is lucrative. That's when Vanitas starts to get interested. Of course he had promised Sora and Lio not to take as many trips into the Wilde without back up... So that means he has to ask someone to come along. Sora is the one that actually approaches him first, so he might as well agree. Maybe it will be good for the little Pucca, who has been on edge a little himself more often than not - a problem that Vanitas knows the solution to, finally, but has yet to bring up. Maybe working out excess energy will be a benefit to them both.

Granted, Vanitas had heard that the pollen isn't toxic, but it should still be avoided. When he's asked why, many locals seem to blush and turn away from him. That's the part he doesn't understand. How can he go into something properly prepared if they don't speak to him on it? ~~It's because it's embarrassing and Vanitas looks younger than what he actually is.~~

Vanitas is standing in their shared room, staring at Void Gear. He's wondering if it is even worth it to bring the Keyblade along. It sounds like, to him, magic is going to be more effective than hacking away at those plants. ]

Are you getting ready?

[Lavi may or may not have decided to come to the orphanage--just to see how Sora's doing.

The days seems to blend together so he needs to find some way to keep himself entertained and busy. However, what he hasn't been expecting is to hear Sora's voice shouting out. It has his ears twitching, a strange feeling of trepidation beginning to wash over him.

Deciding to change his mind and head elsewhere, it's far too late for Lavi to leave when a certain chimera child seems to latch onto his arm, sharp teeth digging in.]

OW!

Yeah, just a second!

[Sora is somewhere in the background rooting through the closet for something that he misplaced. Since moving in Sora's chaotic organizational skills have maybe started to take over their now shared room. It's not too bad yet but Sora's already starting to misplace things...]

Here we go!

[Sora pulls out the bag he had been wanting to use to carry some of their things on this little expedition. It has a holster attached to it just for a keyblade. How handy.]

Do you think we'll need a whole lot of stuff? I guess just some snacks. Maybe a charm or two in case there's poison in that pollen stuff.

[They're off to smack around and demolish some plants. How hard can all of that be? Sora might have left most of the research to Vanitas but he gets the general gist of the task. Find these overgrown plants and take them down before they cause more damage and something something avoid the toxic pollen.]

[Poor Lavi it seems that the unruly child has a taste for rabbit today. And only of the red-furred kind.]

Geeze! Oh- Crap!

[Sora quickly runs right up to Lavi and scoops the kid up but the child is not letting go of Lavi's arm just yet.]

I'll get him off just don't move! He's just a kid and his teeth are really bothering him lately!

[Anyone hear of a teething chimera baby...]

[Lahabrea's single encounter with another puca had not particularly gone ... well. At all. And as this particular bunny all but bounces over, looking terribly enthusiastic for someone approaching an Ominous Figure In Dark Robes, for a few terrible moments he expects the exact same nonsense and --

Is that a shawl. ... It is.

... It looks harmless enough. The Ascian did not tend towards kindness exactly.. but he could reasonably fake it when the situation called for it and this, for now, seemed to call for it.]

...What is this charm intended to do?

[His voice still isn't particularly pleasant to listen to, but he keeps his tone carefully moderate as he extends one metal-clawed hand to accept the scarf should Sora choose to hand it over. A shawl, really. What could it possibly be for??]

[ That's something that is definitely going to be fixed in the future. Vanitas can't stand to have this misplaced or in disarray. He'll get Sora organized one way or another, even if he does have to bully his Bondmate into it. ]

There's no poison in the pollen, Sora. They use it to make love potions and crap like that. No one said anything about it being poisonous.

[ Vanitas sees Sora taking his Keyblade... That's kind of the final factor in his own decision. He straps it to his back. Thankfully he had made sure that the enchantment on one of his earring had been renewed. His elemental spells should be augmented. So, sure! That should be all that they need.

He nods and they start making their trip towards the Wall. They'll be going just outside it so it's not as if it's a day trip. ]

You did grab something to replenish magical energy, yeah?

[Sora usually isn't one to judge people. All sorts of people have different styles, tones of voices, personalities and everything in between. It doesn't exempt anyone from something as strong as true love. His little naive heart wants to believe that no matter what there is someone out there for everyone. Even spooky-looking tall guys in dark black robes with clawed gloves. Although, Sora does have just a little bit of deja vu about a few other black-cloaked figures he's met in the past...

None the less! Sora is all smiles, long rabbit ears twitching as he watches curiously. The shawl is handed over without a fuss.]

Well! It's a special sort of charm! [Sora beams, smiling boyishly.] It can detect something special about your heart!

[Sora, it's probably not good to be so vague!]

[Sora's ears twitch when Vanitas happens to check his charm and Sora's own earring jingles. With that, he straps his bag to his back and makes sure his own keyblade is ready to go alongside a few extra trinkets and things he packs. It's still fairly annoying to Sora to have to carry his Kingdom Key as he has to now. He misses the days where it was the second part of his body, summoning into his palm like a breath of air. But it is what it is.

He falls into step with Vanitas. With only a slight shiver on his breath from the autumn air. At least the wilde should prove to be a few degrees warmer.]

I think so! [Sora takes a second to shuffle through his things.] I've got a couple of potions and a few fruit jellies too.

[Apparently the fruit jellies also restore some energy.]

So these flower things are really used for making love potions? Is that why we need to bring some parts back?

[To his credit, Lahabrea's TRYING to not get judgy, himself. This is a completely different pook, and surely is as harmless and innocent as he looks. Giving children the benefit of the doubt will surely never, ever backfire.]

Hm.

[Something special. It doesn't have any reaction so far, and he's careful of his claws to not damage the material, but even when draped about, it doesn't brighten to the blue that would indicate Lahabrea is that man's lost love.

It's just not meant to be!]

I'm afraid I can detect no changes, young one.

[ Vanitas can completely relate to the fact that he wishes that Void Gear was more portable. Having to actually physically carry it around is just irritating and inconvenient. However he still doesn't necessarily wish to leave it behind either. Void Gear is as much a part of him as Sora is, in a way... ]

Jellies too? Are you sure that's for energy and not for your own enjoyment?

[ He teases and gives Sora a shoulder bump to reinforce that fact. ]

Anyway, yeah I guess. That's what the pollen is used for. The other parts I really don't know. It's not too far outside the Wall though.

( when it comes to gardening, how can ranulf not try out some of his magic? if not to help strengthen the vegetables that might grow, but to assist in gathering? this is why instead of his normal hands, he's replaced them with giant blue cat paws (complete with beans)! he's been working on his own brand of shapeshifting, without the natural ability that all laguz have.

Yeah, they are! Kinda cute aren't they?

[He thinks. Maybe.

He sure feels blood beginning to come out from how hard the boy is biting him.]

I guess standard teething toys doesn't work on him, huh?

[Sora seems to peer at the man, leaning forward with a quizzical look on his face. He hums and tilts his head from side to side which gives his rabbit ears a little sway as he does so.]

Hmm... Are you sure?

[He reaches out to tug on the fabric gently. Tug tug tug.]

Have you ever been in love before?

[Sora, you shouldn't ask strangers that!]

[Sora rocks his shoulder back against Vanitas with a little knowing smile on his lips.]

For... our enjoyment I'll have you know!

[So yes, maybe they are a bit of a treat too.]

Alright! Let's get this show on the road then. I wonder how weird the plants are going to be. Everything in the wilde is a little weird.

[With that Sora picks up their pace with an excited bounce in his step. Adventure time! As usual as soon as they pass the Wall the temperature seems to warm to that of what Spring should be like. Everything is greener too.]

Whoa-!!

[Sora is in total awe. He's never seen any creatures that look like they're part-plant like this before. It's such a cute and unique thing to see and Sora can't help the way his nose twitches at the scent of fresh greens...]

Ranulf! Have you seen anything like this before?

[He laughs, giving the other a smile.]

Nice hands, by the way!

Ermm...

[Sorry, Lavi. Sora is trying his best to ease the bite by holding the boy gently but he's also lifting the boy carefully like he's trying to unstick some sort of sticky barb from the other puca.]

I tried to give him some wood blocks to chew on earlier but he went through them in a few minutes...

[Guess the kid just likes to gnaw on rabbit now.]

[He'll relinquish the item without a complaint if Sora wishes it back; his garb is not exacty kind to anything that might easily snag.]

What an impertinent question.

[While it is certainly an admonishment, there's no real heat to it. This boy probably had no idea at all what he was asking!]

... But if I must answer, yes. Long, long ago. And unlikely to again, for I will have no other and death stands between us. Is that what this charm is for? Detecting love?

[No wonder it did nothing! Time had long since drowned out that emotion. He might not even be capable anymore.]

[ Van only snickers as he's pushed. ]

I saw them already. They're pretty big but other than that? They don't look like they're that big of a deal.

[ But the locals, especially the Monsters, seem to be uneasy about them. So there's probably a reason that the flowers need to be gotten rid of. Again, it doesn't take long to get to a patch of flowers. It's a short distance from the Wall to the edge of the Wilde itself.

As soon as they are there, Vanitas gets out Void Gear and places the tip into the ground. ]

You're pretty used to beating up plants, aren't you?

[While looking slightly tired, Sanji still perks up when he hears a young voice call out to him, turning slightly on his heel to address the rather energetic kid with a puzzled look. Judging by his ears, he must be a puca or something. Guess that's fine, kid probably didn't have a choice. Sanji sure didn't.

But with one hand shoved in his pocket and the other gripping his umbrella, Sanji looks at Sora with a curious expression, willing to listen to him.]

What sort of charm are you testing?

Nope! Never in my life, but I also don't think I know anyone who'd do such a thing.

( certainly not soren. certainly not any of the other mages he knows. but it does spark some deeper thought, about how it could be a good way to teach younger generations of laguz how to chase down animals in a practical and reusable way?

he strokes the cat as his hands flicker back into normal ones. )

I've been learning how to shapeshift using the magic here. It's still difficult, but I've been getting better at holding a few changes. Not all of them at once though.

( ranulf shrugs, offering an airy and light smile. )

Oh! Don't let that one get away, Sora.

( that cauliflower cat that's just popped out? it looks like it's about to book it... )

[Roxas has been helping out with the orphanage himself, having first been dragged there by Sora before finding he quite enjoyed helping the young orphaned children. But that little chimera child was certainly a handful at the best of times, and Roxas had been preoccupied with his own little group before he felt the sharp teeth in his arm.]

Ow!

[It comes out as half-yell, half dog-like yelp. He turns to the chimera child, ears angled to the sides.]

Hey! What did we say about biting??

Whoa- Whoa!

[Sora is a bit taken aback by the collection of strange-looking reddish flowers that they come across anyway. They are mangled and overgrown and seem to have long wrapping roots everywhere. The big red petals are also spread out and wide and Sora can see why these could be such a big problem. There's just so much of them in this patch. It seems like they're everywhere. How can anything else grow?]

You're right but back then I had fire magic too. So I'll have to leave that part up to you this time.

[Sora hops a little closer to the first collection that they see. His own keyblade in hand as he reaches out to poke one red petal with it. These things aren't anything like moving plant-shaped enemies at least.]

[Sora takes a second to check over the shawl like he might think there is something wrong with it. He tugs at the fabric and holds it up to the light and then pouts softly as he folds it back up. He can still sense the dim magic inside of it thanks to his sensitive monster senses but it's a little disappointing overall.

But he quickly focuses back on the man with a bit of a defeated expression. What a big yikes. He didn't mean to bring up such a sad little tidbit. His one true love is dead?!]

Oh... I'm really sorry. I didn't know. Yeah, this shawl is for detecting if someone is in love so I guess...

[Well, that's mostly the correct thing about it.]

Anyway-! What was being in love like for you?

[ Vanitas hadn't noticed the roots choking out other life before. Now he really does see the importance of getting rid of these flowers. They're invasive even if they aren't toxic. ]

Fire, huh...

[ He looks at his hand for a moment. Then his gaze shifts to Sora's Keyblade. ]

Give me your Keyblade for a moment.

[ Vanitas has an idea. ]

Ack-! Got it!

[Sora quickly tries to pounce on the little green cauliflower kitten that tries to make an attempt to escape. It's a tiny little struggle but he manages to scoop it right up into his arms while it wiggles.]

Geeze, they're really fast!

[... And smell kind of tasty-- Sora tries to keep his hold on it as it squirms.]

Shapeshifting is really cool though, I'm a puca so I can only do stuff like make illusions and stuff. I wish I could try actual real shapeshifting!
