nami
She's got the cauldron set up outside of a potion shop and looks like she's kind of stumped as she watches people pass by. She's tapping her index finger on her cheek rapidly in thought, like she's trying desperately to come up with an idea of some sort.
That's when she sees someone -- Nami! -- pass by and decides to go for the "general negativity" idea. ]
Hey, over here!
[ She waves towards Nami, trying to bring her over. ]
You wanna make some money? I need help with something, and if you help me then I'll split the earnings with you!
[ SHADY. ]
no subject
at least, until a cute girl started waving at her. that alone would have been enough to catch her attention, but — ]
Money?! [ wait, is that a literal spark in her eyes?? it may very well be. nami zooms over to sylvia, reaching out and clasping her hands. ]
Yes, yes, I'll help you! Of course I'll help you! What is it we need to do?
no subject
[ Yep, there's the draw. Money. Who can blame Nami, though? That's the whole reason why Sylvia took on this quest to begin with. She has a job at the cafe though so she's lucky enough to be able to split her earnings with someone. ]
Alright, this is gonna sound really weird...
[ Very, very weird, but here goes nothing: ]
But I need to test something out. So! I want you to tell me something you don't like about my outfit.
[ She'll fight back, even if she doesn't end up being offended by it. That might be the only way to get this potion going, after all. She's got something like this on, but the colors are a little brighter. Nami might find it a little tacky, but who knows! ]
no subject
and frankly, she'd done far odder jobs than what this was shaping up to be.
she tilts her head, taking a long look at sylvia. ]
Ehh, but you're cute... [ okay okay no she's got this!! don't you worry. she draws a breath and points at her. ]
What kind of a colour scheme is that?! Looking at it hurts my eyes! Besides, it really washes you out!
no subject
[ Okay, that actually did sting a little because Sylvia really likes this outfit! It's a wonderful way to kick this thing off, though the cauldron still isn't bubbling just yet to indicate that there aren't any signs of progress. ]
Well -- your outfit -- [ Come on, think of something... ] is too freaking cute! Who the heck would wear something like that, huh?!
[ WHAT AN INSULT... :| ]
no subject
........ or not. especially as nami's reaction to that is to smile and blush, pressing her hands against her cheeks. ]
Oh, stop it!! [ then, looking at sylvia and beaming, ] If you want, I can take you shopping! We can find something similar for you, too... or something different! A girl can never have too many dresses!
[ insults?? what are those again?? she totally forgot the whole point here. ]
no subject
[ That -- okay, yeah, that was a compliment more than an insult. Sylvia can't help but let out a stifled laugh that comes out louder than she meant it to, but who cares!! ]
Okay, that sounds really fun! Way more fun than whatever I'm doing right now.
[ Are we about to ditch this quest for shopping? We sure are. ]

wanna wrap up here? :D
iiiit's a wrap!!
allura
She shows up at the scene, obsidian knife in hand, ears perked up attentively. She already sees a few farmers trying to cut some of the vines. Before she leaps into action, though, she spots a familiar floof of white hair in her peripheral vision. ]
Allura? [ Hello, old friend! ] Hey, you're doing this too?
no subject
Oh, Sylvia. [She greets her pleasantly with a nod, a long staff balanced in her hands.] Yes, though I have never battled gourds before.
[Speaking of which there's a scream in the distance as one of the farmers narrowly avoids getting his hand chomped off by one of the pumpkins, it's toothy maw opening again for another bite.]
We should move.
no subject
Yeah, let's go!
[ She runs over to the farmer, trying to come up with some kind of plan. She's never been good with strategy but they can't be uncoordinated when they do this. The pumpkin's also tangling its vines around his feet, which isn't good either. ]
I'll hold the pumpkin off if you can take care of the vines!
no subject
Apologies! [Teamwork is still a New Thing for her. Speaking of, the pumpkin doesn't seem too phased by the fire - a scorched burn mark on it's side making the thing roar an enraged sound, tightening it's vines around the man as three other pumpkins nearby respond to the cry, tottering over on their strange vine-legs.]
Oh no. I'll... I'll distract the others, you help the farmer!
[What is coordination?]
no subject
Time to follow her instructions. ]
Okay, sure!
[ She bends down and uses her knife to start cutting through the vines frantically, trying her best to be careful so as to not hurt him. ]
If you need backup just yell for me!
no subject
[she calls back, then turns to the pumpkins. A distraction ah… how to distract a pumpkin?]
Hey… you… large gourds! [She says in a loud, staggered voice as she waves her staff around. If the pumpkins had eyes it felt like they were all on her.] If you don’t behave then… then we’ll have to squash you!
[Pun not intended. About half of the pumpkins seem to fall to the bait and there’s a handful of snapping teeth in her direction, and she hops from one foot to the other, making space between them. One gets too close and it gets a hearty thwack with her staff, sending the thing flying a few feet.]
How is it going, Sylvia!

Drawing is fun and all, but Sylvia's artistic ability is limited to scribbles on folder paper in class. She cannot draw whatsoever, but this quest, she thinks, is a nice way to get away from all of the recent Aefenglom bullshit even though the man had asked for someone to draw his likeliness. While Sylvia took up the request, she asked for his picture to store on her watch so she could draw him when she had more art materials.
And that's not entirely wrong, but the truth is that she plans on seeking help from someone else. That's not technically cheating!!! And she'll split her earnings with whoever does decide to help. She's walking out of a store with some paints and drawing supplies in hand when she spots a familiar face who just happens to be walking by. Perfect. ]
Keith!
[ Here's hoping they can pull this off. ]
Hey, you got a second or two to spare? I kinda need help with something!
no subject
Oh, Sylvia. Hey.
[ Giving her a nod, he eyes her bag of supplies. ]
What kind of help do you need?
no subject
I need your art expertise, of course!
[ Is he even an artist??? She has no fucking idea but you know what we're doing this anyway. ]
See, this guy wants a painting of himself and he's paying some really good money. If I do this by myself it's gonna be a mess, buuuut if we put both of our creative heads together...it'll be great! You know what I mean?
[ ??? ]
no subject
My ... art expertise?
[ Glancing from Sylvia's face to the paint bottle back to Sylvia. If anyone was going to attribute an area of expertise to him, art wouldn't have been it. Has she even seen one of his lil monster sketches?
Keith frowns, considering. Maybe she has. And maybe this isn't a misunderstanding. Maybe he should be flattered that she's asking him for help here. ]
I mean.. uh sure? That sounds like a good time. Where do you want to do this?
no subject
[ So many options at their disposal. She's ready for Keith to dazzle her with his amazing art skills.
She looks around and spots a giant tree nearby. Her eyes widen a little, as if to say that's it! and she motions at him to follow her. ]
Okay, so, he seemed a little uppity about the whole thing, but he never specified that he wanted a specific style. He just wanted someone to "capture his likeness", whatever that means. So hey, if this goes over well, I'll half the reward with you! Sounds good?
no subject
Guess it can't hurt to try?
[ Even if "capture his likeness" is already sounding like it will go poorly. Once they reach the shade, Keith takes a seat. ]
Alright, show me his picture.

pre-Dorch catch-up starter!
And yes, he orders it black. Though if there are any side-sweets offered he will add that to the order. ]
Hey, I'm a man of my word— [ No, he's not ] This place is way fancier than I expected.
[ Though being a harpy in making, he's still feeling a little strange around the stars of the cafe. ]
\o/
Isn't it nice here? They went all-out with the decor and everything!
[ She talks about the cafe with so much love. Seems like she really enjoys it here!
She'll slide over his coffee pretty quickly though, along with that little biscuit. ]
Biscuit's free of charge, by the way. I think you'll like it a lot!
no subject
Great service, will recommend! Five stars. [ And the coffee itself here is really good. ] Hey, gonna join me for a chat? It's almost the end of your shift, isn't it?
[ If he got the timing right ]
no subject
[ She's glad she could make a better impression on him than when they'd first met. ]
You're right, I'm almost done -- give me a few minutes to tidy up a bit and I'll join you for that chat! Pick a table and be mindful of the kitties, yeah?
no subject
He picks the table in the quietest area, good view on the entrance though— old habits die hard. As he waits for Sylvia he takes out a notebook, a pan and starts to write absentmindedly ]
no subject
Sylvia's finished pretty quickly though so he won't have to wait long. She heads over to him after her shift and sits across of him, setting her own cup of coffee on the table. ]
Sooo, tried your coffee yet? What do you think?
