Huh??
[Oh- He snaps out of his thoughts and his ears flicker upwards.]
Uhh... How about one of each?
[Is that more than two dozen? He's lost count! He'll just... TAKE THEM ALL.]

It takes the girl a while—a long time, actually—to get one of each cupcake into a box, and when she's done, she comes around from behind the counter to try shoving eight boxes into Sora's arms, each with half a dozen cupcakes inside.
"Four dozen cupcakes, to go."]
[... welp. That's definitely more than two.]
You sure about this?
[The girl cocks a brow and flashes Sora a saucy look. "If you change your mind, I'm going to make you unbox them all."]

[Wow, he has two very serious ladies looking laserbeams at him right now. Sora quickly pulls out his wallet with a jingle of its chain.]
Yeah, I'm sure! The kids over at the orphanage really deserve something like this.
[So even if it's going to cost him every penny that he has it's still worth it. Those kids need some smiles on their faces.]
Thanks for the suggestion, Lightning!

[Except the other girl did all of the work. Lightning just stood there and watched in fear as she recited all of the flavours off the top of her head. There's commitment to a job, and then there's... that.
While they wait for the line to move forward so he can pay, Lightning makes an attempt at conversation, not wanting to steer back to the cakes she'd mentioned earlier.]
So... you take a job over at the orphanage or something?
no subject
Yeah, I did! There was a bunch of new kids coming in so they needed a hand with things. Stuff like watching the kids, teaching them, helping with lunches and sometimes bedtime stories.
[Honestly, Sora's thriving.]
I really like helping out. You should come by sometime and check it out! I bet you'd have a ton of stories to tell them!
no subject
But of course, she isn't going to say that. Instead, she brings a finger close to Sora's forehead, letting it hover there for a moment but not quite touching him.]
You sure you aren't the one who wants to hear them?
[Poke.]
no subject
None the less Sora's cheeks warm considerably and his rabbit ears twitch backwards betraying his soft excitement for that.]
Erm... !! Well, you probably do have a lot of really cool stories! I wouldn't mind sitting in! Right?
[He just can't lie.]
no subject
[She has plenty of stories... Not sure about them being "really cool", though. Depends on the audience.]
If they aren't scared of hearing about fal'Cie with five faces before bedtime...
[don't tell that story to children, lightning wtf]
no subject
Five faced whaa...?
[Honestly most kids love really good epic-sounding stories. If they are a little bit scary then even better! But as long as they don't give the kids nightmares it should be pretty cool!]
What's a fal'Cie? No, wait! Maybe you should tell us when you come by for storytime!
[Like she's already agreed to go!!]

Lightning's mouth opens to explain what it is in the simplest terms possible, having an explanation prepared from having had to tell others what they are before, but she's promptly cut off by him, to which she simply smiles.]
Yeah. Wouldn't wanna spoil the ending.
[Not even Lightning knows how it ends—if it'll be happy or sad.]
I'll try not to scare the kids too much. Specially you.
no subject
I won't be scared, the stories are for the kids!
[Are they, though...]
But, okay! Thanks for your help today, Lightning. I think the kids are going to be really happy today thanks to you and this shop.
