Huh? Uh-huh! I'm okay, thanks to everyone who tried to help me! It was some awesome team effort.
[He just doesn't want her to feel like she didn't do something to help? She probably did! Even if Sora doesn't know the details.]
But that's great to hear that you're doing good so far, Rikku! [He grins.] And that means we're working together today. Are you ready to help me wrangle some kids?
no subject
Luckily for both of them, Sora is also happy to focus on the positive. There are kids to care for!]
Yeah, I'm ready!
[She punches her first into her hand to demonstrate her enthusiasm.]
It's my first day, so I'm not really sure what it is we're expected to do other than keep them company. Are we cooking for them or anything?
no subject
I was thinking we could teach them to bake some cookies! And little Nia doesn't know how to tie her shoes so she might need someone to help her with that. There's a couple of boys who are really bored so I was thinking we could set up a game of tag with them! Just to get some of their energy out before they start chewing things.
[Monster kids, eh.]
What should we do first?
no subject
I say let's start with tag, since chewing things wouldn't be good for their teeth or the things. Then we can wind down with cookies and tying shoes.
[If she had to be totally honest, cookies as a snack after running around sounds pretty awesome to her. She's sure the kids will agree. Everyone's a winner!]
Let's round up the troops and get started! You recruit over that way. [She points to indicate the direction she means.] And I'll grab the other side. We'll get those boys and anyone else who wants in tired soon enough!

[Rikku is great to work with already! They already have a perfect game plan to help these kids get some energy out and have some fun while doing it.
Sora gives her a confident salute before he runs off to gather his gaggle of kids for the game. Once he returns he's got about six children following at his heel ready to place one big game of Tag.]
Alright, how'd you make out? I think we can use the entire yard for this. That tree over there can be the time out spot if anyone needs a rest.
[He grins at his kids.]

When all is said and done, Rikku's able to gather five children. Four of them are eager to play, while the youngest--who is maybe three or four--insists on being the referee. As far as Rikku can tell, that job mostly entails clinging to her bear (or Rikku's skirts) and watching intently. It'll have to do.]
I didn't get as many as you, but I have a good group. Peggy here is going to watch. Peggy, why don't you go over by the time out tree so you can see everything?
[The little girl nods, then sprints to the tree, sits down in a graceless flop, squeezes her bear, and gives Rikku a grin. Perfect.]
Ready, everyone? Who wants to be It first?
no subject
One of the kids shoots his hand straight upwards. Sora grins and points at him.]
Alright, you! Everyone else? Get ready to scatter on the count of three! ... One! ... Two!
[The kids start to chatter and giggle!]
Three!!
[And they all go running in all directions with bright laughter. Don't think Sora won't join in too. He jumps into the fray of things as well, his rabbit muscles serving him well!]
Let's go!!
no subject
Well, until one of the kids has the bright idea to jump down on her from a tree.]
"Tag! You're it!"
[Of course, this causes the pair of them to fall to the ground in a giggling pile of limbs. Rikku wheezes something out about the tactics being unfair between laughs, but the kid is already wriggling away and getting back on his feet to run off.
The other kids circle around--careful to keep their distance--while they wait to see what Rikku's going to do. Once she's to her feet, she spins slowly to address them as a group as she makes exaggerated claws with her hands.]
I'm gonna GETCHA!
[The children squeal and start running, and Rikku starts chasing in turn. The only one she pursues with any serious intent is Sora. To run down a child just seems mean.]
no subject
When it's all said and done Sora collapses on the grass with a happy huff, his rabbit ears wiggling as he stretches out. Two of the kids flop down right on top of him with a laugh and Sora grins.]
Ahaha! Good job, guys! You caught me!
[The game is over now as the kids start to wind down under the gentle light of the sunset.]
Thanks for helping me today, Rikku. You're pretty great at this. Ever think about picking up a job here too? The orphanage always needs the help.
no subject
Whew! I haven't run around like that in a long time. Feels good.
[She has to admit, it's nice to be surrounded by this kind of chaotic childhood energy.]
I didn't realize that the orphanage offered jobs instead of just occasional volunteering. I'll have to talk to the people in charge about it. Suits me better than the stints I've worked so far, anyway.
no subject
[Volunteering is nice but having a routine here is even better for these kids. And Rikku seems pretty suited for it if she's interested!]
Either way, thanks for helping me and the kids out today. It was a lot of help!
gonna wrap things up here! :)
[Rikku pulls herself up and dusts herself off.]
I'm going to go take care of this whole 'I want to work here full time' thing before I forget. I'll see you soon!
[With a wave, Rikku trots inside to offer her services on a more regular basis.]
no subject
[And off Sora goes to finish his daily tasks up too!]
