[oh, what a smile. a tinge of envy wells up in his chest like a blot of leaked ink. it's not like he doesn't want that kind of happiness for Gon, but he wishes he could have had the same kind of relief when he found himself here. his expression remains at a calm neutral, betraying nothing of his private thoughts or feelings save the whisper of wistfulness barely detectable behind his eyes and floating along his voice.]

You make yourself sound like a handful, don't you? But he must be fortunate to have a friend like you if just my bringing him up alone gets you to beam like that.

I am, [Gon acknowledges simply, expression unchanging besides a little blink, and Gon grins again when Soren finishes his vocalized sentiments. it makes him feel a little fluttery, which makes him laugh a little bit, rocking on his heels back and forth.]

I don't know about fortunate, but I'm gonna do my best to make sure he at least feels that way while we're here! I made some mistakes back home, cuz I just cause trouble. I'm definitely the one who's lucky.

[it's fine! he's pretty used to this feeling by now. he can handle it... and he's not going to let Gon see it and ruin that mood of his just to nurse some petty psychic wounds of his. he shivers, thinking for a second that his enchantments might be wearing off before recognizing the chill had nothing to do with that.]

Mm... Either way, cherish what you have. You're both lucky to have someone like that here. Don't take it for granted.

[it's not like he's completely alone anymore, either, even if he's not with the man he would give up everything for. he turns halfway, a strange clash of somber and content, considers departing now that he's sure Gon is fine being left on his own. besides, he has a quick buck he wants to catch (hah), and he's not so crooked or stupid that he'd steal from this young faun who's just trying to survive in this strange world like he is.]

I definitely won't, [Gon says with another blink, straightening his posture as his expression falls curiously. even when Gon had screwed things up in this friendship he's talking about, he doesn't think he ever really took that friend for granted, per se...]

[that remark is tilted both in dry jest and with the potential for sincerity. whether such a time would ever come is up in the air; he's a dragon and more than capable of matching most threats; as another mirrorbound, he considers Gon a loose ally. he stretches his wings out in preparation for flight.]
