Who: Killua Zoldyck and ANYONE! When: throughout August Where: Aefenglom city and the Wilde around it What: full moon, quests, shenanigans, etc. Warnings: undead-creature-related gore; awkward full moon teenage ust......
[While Rikku isn't exactly close with Killua, she's had a few friendly interactions with him during her witch classes at the Coven. They've partnered together on a few things during the actual coursework, and she cheerfully falls into step besides him as they are leaving in the late afternoon.]
Hey there! Headed home?
[As they step out of the Coven building, a cacophony of revelment can be heard not too far away. It seems a house party celebrating who-knows-what has started to spill into the streets, complete with partiers in various states of inebriating singing, dancing, and waving over anyone and everyone to join the festivities.
Rikku would be lying if she said the idea of checking it out didn't appeal to her.]
Ooooor do you wanna go see what those guys are doing?
Hey! [ Killua was stretching his arms above his head, and he lets go of the stretch with a smile, sticking his hands in his pockets while Rikku falls into step beside him. ]
Uh, yeah, I guess.
[ Why? He looks over at his fellow new Witch, tilting his head curiously. The suggestion makes his gaze flick to the party-goers, eyes narrowing thoughtfully, though not without interest. ]
Not like I have anything else to do. It's some sort of festival this week, isn't it?
[Rikku happily takes that as a resounding "yes" and beams a bit. She knew she liked this guy for some reason.]
Some kind of festival about weddings, I think? I'm still learning the holidays and everything here.
[A 'whoop!' spreads through the party-goers as they cheer on...something. Rikku can't make out what it is, but apparently whatever just happened was amazing.]
Whatever it is, it looks like fun! Come on!
[She grabs Killua's arm and starts making her way over to the party.]
[ Killua pulls his arm away grumpily, but he does indeed follow after Rikku, after sticking his hands in his pockets. He doesn't struggle with the pace or weaving through the crowd even if they're not holding onto each other. ]
I don't really see what the point is in having a whole festival about weddings. Is everyone supposed to get married in the same month? It's weird.
[Rikku doesn't complain about Killua pulling his arm away, if only because he continues to follow and keep pace. No need to drag him if he doesn't need to be dragged, after all.
She considers his points as they approach the partygoers.]
A lot of things in this city are weird. It would make remembering your anniversary a lot easier, I guess?
And I don't know what a hand fasting is. The only thing I can think of is that your hands don't eat during the ceremony, which doesn't make any sense. That's not how hands or fasts work.
[She turns to the closest partier and shouts to be heard over the noise.]
HEY, WHAT'S A HANDFASTING?
["It's about love, baby girl! You and your boyfriend looking to do it?" is the reply she gets, along with two drinks of unknown composition. Without waiting for a response, he continues onward with whatever it is he's doing aside from conveniently showing up for this tag. Rikku shouts after him.]
Right? That's what I thought of too! It sounds so stupid!
[ Considering the content of the festival, the answer itself when it arrives from the too-enthusiastic stranger isn't surprising-- but the way he says it and the assumption are.
Killua's eyes go wide, cheeks heating up bright pink. ]
Wh-what?! We're not together, you creep!
[ Killua shouts after him too, at the same time as Rikku thankfully also protests. ]
[ Don't worry, Rikku-- he's not any more keen on the idea. For gay reasons. No offense.
Killua takes one of the drinks from her, looking at it dubiously as well. He lifts it to his face for a sniff. ]
Eh, I doubt it could hurt me regardless. [ So for him, specifically, the question of whether or not it's 'safe' holds little meaning. And yet, for some reason... ] But aren't we both underage?
I guess it doesn't smell like alcohol... Smells sweet.
[ Not that his nose is as good as Gon's or anything. ]
Edited (oops i misread the number of drinks!) 2020-09-05 02:28 (UTC)
[ Technically not untrue. It's just come from intensive training and building up resistances to various poisons and drugs since he was a toddler. But no need to put a downer on the festivities by bringing up his family life. ]
Uuh... [ Killua stares at her, unconvinced. ]
I mean, if you wanna drink it, I won't stop you... But maybe you shouldn't?
[She stares into the beverage for a few minutes longer, then promptly dumps it out. Killua's right--accepting drinks from strange men who creepily refer to friends as boyfriends is a bad idea.]
I wanna see if they're giving out any free samples or anything. Especially desserts.
[ That's more his speed. Killua makes a face, dumping his drink too while he decides on their next mission to go find something sweet to snack on.
Thankfully, there are some more minor-friendly drinks around too.
They explore the festival together a bit, avoiding most of the partying (at least Killua avoids it as much as he can) and finding their own fun among less inebriated citizens for a bit. ]

What's a 'hand fasting' anyway?

...gross!

[She looks down into the drink the stranger pushed into her hand dubiously.]
What do you think he gave us? Do you think it's even safe for us to drink?
[Or legal, for that matter.]

Depending on how one wants to interpret her FFX-2 behavior, she's kind of gay herself.]It can't hurt you? You must have a really strong stomach.
[Prooooobably not the correct takeaway, but it's the thought that registers with her.]
Although I don't think "underage" matters much here. Or at least during the party.
[She stares harder into her cup, as if doing so could reveal the drink's secrets.]
How brave are you feeling?

How about we find a less weird party to join?
