Welcome!

[This isn’t quite the house party that Lance would’ve thrown for himself back on earth (he would’ve at least had a stereo going with some modern music), but he can make his own fun in Aefenglom, too. He made sure to post a message on the network beforehand inviting Mirrorbound to the party, so everyone's welcome to join in on the fun! There’s a good chance he won’t turn you away no matter who you are, unless you're looking to shut down the party. He might even be a little petty if you ask him to lower the noise level...but the choice is yours! ]

Weapons Security

[ Have fun getting past Kolivan and Keith who are collecting weapons at the door, though. That’s right: Keith and Kolivan (who is standing at over eight feet tall) are both at the entrance and are asking people to leave their weapons there. Maybe you’ll comply with their demands, or maybe you’ll take this as a challenge. Maybe you don't even have weapons on you! Whatever the case may be, Lance is busy socializing, so he won’t be bothered with security unless specifically requested. You’ll have to answer to these two instead. Good luck! ]

Birthday Cake

[ Over in the dining room is an assortment of refreshments, including a lovely birthday cake! It looks like it might’ve been ordered from a bake shop with the decorations, the frosting placement, and the gradient that fades from blue to white. Bernadetta von Varley can be seen slicing the cake and putting each slice on a dainty little plate for everyone to enjoy! It’s vanilla, too. Grab yourself a slice and enjoy! (It'll make Bernie very happy!) ]

Magic Show

[ That’s not all, though. In fact, in the middle of the party, Lance and Trucy Wright start encouraging people to come to the ballroom. Dressed in fancy, sparkly jackets, the two of them are ready to put on their very own magic show! Trucy introduces herself, and then Lance as her very own assistant -- who woulda thunk -- and after a little razzle dazzle of an intro, they begin.

Their first trick is known as the Zig Zag Girl, which isn’t too far off from the saw-in-half trick. For this performance, Lance and Trucy call up two volunteers (including you!) from the audience. Volunteer A holds a saw while the Volunteer B steps into a box. After Trucy instructs Volunteer A to saw into the box into thirds, Lance will then pull the middle section out and present the second volunteer appearing as though their body is also divided into thirds! Spooky. (The saw and the box are covered in illusion magic!)

Trucy and Lance also add some other tricks to their performance, like pulling a dove out from an empty pan and playing card magic. They'll also be doing a trick known as Assistant's Revenge as the finale, in which Lance gets trapped in a box and somehow does a miraculous switcheroo with Trucy, trapping her in the box instead! ]

Mingling

[ Lance will encourage everyone to get to know one another, chat, and make friends! For the most part the party takes place in the ballroom, but in the yard is a swimming pool, charged purely by magic. It’s not perfectly made, but it’s there for everyone to use to cool off from the heat wave. ]

[ listen. kolivan has been hard at work the entire party and lance kind of feels bad? like the guy should be enjoying himself, not staying near the door the entire time. he's not getting paid for this after all.

at some point (among other points), lance approaches him with a slice of cake. ]

Kolivan, try some! One of my best friends made it. I'm sure she'd like it a lot if you did!

[Seeing his bond mate approach, he turns to face him, looking down and noting the cake. Slowly, he looks up and takes a moment to observe the girl. Lance feels a closeness to her that Kolivan would describe a familial. Easy enough to conclude when he can feel Lance's emotions...all the time.

And he also notes that she's entirely too anxious an individual to cleverly poison the cake. So, he takes the piece, standing there holding it as he looks down at Lance again.]

Does this celebration satisfy you?

[...He's trying ask if you're having fun, Lance.]

[ lance is glad that kolivan takes the piece. he wasn't sure if kolivan would turn it away or not, so this pleases the birthday boy. but oh boy, does his bonded have a way with words... ]

Uh, yeah! I mean, I think it's pretty great. Oh, and thanks for offering to do security, by the way!

[ he is grateful, and kolivan will be able to feel that gratefulness, too. ]

It was a position that was necessary for the safety of you and the others.

[Overprotective? Possibly. But that hardly meant he was going to stop doing what he was doing. Especially on a day when Lance should be having a good time.

He would protect him harder today so Lance could enjoy himself without fear.]

Well, have you thought about asking Keith to cover for you or something? So you can enjoy the rest of the party!

[ ....wait. hold that thought. ]

Uuuunless this is your way of enjoying the party. I mean, I can see that too! Whatever you want, man.

[Kolivan suddenly gives Lance the most baffled expression imaginable. It's like he knows that word but not in the context that includes himself.

Does. Not. Compute.]

Enjoy. You know...have fun?

[ ...wait. wait a second. ]

Hang on! Is that not a word in the Galra dictionary or something?!

I am aware of the definition.

[There is so much confusion on his end of the Bond. This is definitely more than Lance usually gets from Kolivan who tends to be a pillar of calm emotion.]

Was I meant to partake in this enjoyment?

What?! Of course you are!

[ look, he's not having any of this "no fun allowed" nonsense for you, kolivan. he wants you to have a good time, too! and the confusion he's feeling on kolivan's end speaks volumes and only makes lance want to, well... show him to the pool or something. ]

Sure, I asked you to do security, but I told you that you could switch with Keith! That was so you could have fun!

[Let it be known this is all taking place while Kolivan towards over him holding a piece of cake he hasn't taken a bit of yet.]

I assumed it to be because I was the most reliable option for this matter.

[ oh, he's noticed. ]

...Kolivan, buddy, I'm gonna ask you to do me a favor.

[ he gestures towards the cake with a smooth motion of his hand. ]

Eat the cake, and tell me what you think.

[ HE'S GONNA LOVE IT. ... maybe. ]

[He blinks then looks down at the cake that he is holding. Why is the cake so important?

But it matters to Lance for some reason.

...It's just cake?

Kolivan lifts the tiny fork to have a bite of the dessert. It is...very sweet. More so than he is used to consuming. Not unpleasant but it is surprising.]

It is palatable.

Good!

[ it's a start, at least. he wasn't expecting kolivan to say anything else, really. ]

So by eating the cake, you're celebrating with me instead of just standing at the door all day! Get it?

[ this pleases him greatly, and kolivan will be able to feel it in their bond. ]

[...Lance is pleased. That he ate cake? Kolivan is confused but he looks at the cake again before looking at his bondmate.

He really doesn't get it beyond this somehow pleases Lance. Which he decides is all he needs to understand.

And he takes another bite of cake for him.]

[ nice. lance grins, and yeah, kolivan can still tell lance is pleased.

he pats his shoulder, suddenly, and turns towards the rest of the party. ]

Alright, c'mon. Let's go get you a break. I'll ask Keith to swap with you.
