[Mikasa still didn't have a bond, and she was still hungry almost all of the time. Even with her working as much as she could and trying to grow her own food, it wasn't quite enough. It made her wonder how she'd gone days without eating after the wall had collapsed. And while she had an agreement with Mettaton, one she'd been willing to use. The festival and food donations were a blessing.
So she took the little pilgrimage, traveling from fire to fire eating her free food. Though occasionally, even after eating. She'd stand by the fire, looking up at the small insects, moths by the looks of most of them. Pupils enlarged and eclipsing her eyes. A slight tensing of her back and arms. Then she lunges, swiping her hands out to grab at the bugs. Most of the time she didn't miss, and they were quickly crammed into her mouth. Almost every time Mikasa's pupils would shrink to a normal size again and she'd slowly look around. Questioning what her life had become.
Midway through the festivities, she'd finished the journey between the two bonfires. Ending up at the Western one. And while she was still giddy, still drunk on air the way only fae could be. She still had enough sense to scowl at the elderly dragon, the one who'd been goading the youngsters to run through the flames. His bonded, a just as elderly human man. Awkwardly smiling and patting at the dragon's arm. 'Not everyone is fireproof. I can set up a spell?'
While Mikasa just awkwardly fidgeted, why did someone have to hear her sigh, spot her moping when she heard about the 'burning away poor relationship'. Why was she tempted...
Evidently she did end up doing it though. Because during the latter part of the second night her clothes were singed. And she spent most of the third day and night dancing and running around the posts, flinging ribbons at people haphazardly. Possibly making brightly coloured tripwires with them...Though she does disappear before midnight.]
CLOSED to Mettaton - Full Moon 7th - Tonight we feast! CW- animal death
[Even with the agreement, she still felt a little guilty. Because while she had already eaten into most of her budget, she was still so ravenously hungry. It was almost constant now. Keeping her awake even before the Sisters made her want to move. But there wasn't anything she could do about it.
Other than sending him a small text. 'Do you want to go somewhere for food? I'm not bothered what. I'll be by --' She just sent him a location. One easy enough for him to meet her at. If he didn't turn up, that was fine. She'd find something to do. But for now, she'd wait. Sitting on a bench and looking up at the sky.
Her eyes had changed again. Or rather, one of them had. In a way that she could notice. When she'd checked it had darkened, covered in small hexagons. ]
CLOSED to Tataru- Full Moon 7th/morning of 8th? - Poor Pototo CW - attempted Tataru eating
[She was licking her wounds still. Not really. But that had not gone very well, even with everything so hazy the fae could work out that something was very wrong. The tinge in her arm where the bright red burn was kept reminding her. Grounding her when it stung. That and the hunger was bothering her more than the blood that ran down her chin and stained her shirt.
Probably because that wasn't hers...
That belonged to meal 1. Meal 2 though, that had been too hot for this fae to handle. So she'd run off in a panic, shying away from it on instinct. Looking for something smaller. Technically, there was quite a few things. Small animals. But those were barely enough to be worth the effort of catching them. That was when she spotted the smaller creature, moving slower than the animals. And Mikasa slowed her movements too, not to spook it. Just going to appear out of the park and onto the pathway.
Let it get closer... Hanging her head and staring out from under her fringe.
Just come a little closer...]
CLOSED to Mischief Cottage residents - Morning of the 8th - Look what the cat dragged in CW - blood
[For the second time this month. Mikasa was turning up to the house she and Trucy shared, in an absolute state.
Except instead of just Trucy being there, there was also any others they'd allowed to stay until the mirrors were fixed. And instead of just being passed out and a little hung over. She was stumbling into the yard, dried blood on her front, wide eyed.
Well then...]
River cleani-AAA
[Once things calm down for her, and she'd settled. Or settled as much as she could with the whatever was going on with the moons. Mikasa got back to work. Water, and being in water that she had to wade in wasn't one of her favorite things. She liked being able to see what she was standing on, for it to be more stable than shifting sand and slime covered rocks. But still, even with a bond, she had to make sure she was eating enough. So there wasn't a repeat of the full moon. Even if the hunger wasn't an issue, she needed to find a way to apologise. At the moment the fae was at a loss on how to make amends though, and working had always helped her before.
So while her mouth was set in a grim line, she didn't complain about wading out. Taking off her boots. She'd even worn an old pair of shorts that had been left in the cottage. They weren't enough to cover the chitin that extended to just below her knees, but there wasn't a point to that anymore.
It really wasn't bad work... The weather made it pleasant, even if she'd slip a little when the waterlogged ground shifted under her weight-
Then there's a sparkle and this fish? Suddenly leaps out of the water when someone got too close to it.
Mikasa reels, jolting back from it as it flings it's self past her face. Letting out a high pitched yelp as the gravel under foot gives way and she falls back into the water...At least it was a nice day to be splashed? Not so much a nice day if you couldn't dodge the fish though.]
Refugee Request
[A few people had mentioned it. And even with Mikasa planning on heading out to help with the new outpost. She was going to keep her word and look into helping within the city. She had a few times with little things, rebuilding after the riots when she arrived. The problems the refugees had been having seemed like a good place to start. So she'd put her name forward.
Not that Mikasa was much of a thinker. Even if she could have joined the military police.
But she had a good memory, and collecting descriptions of people seemed easy enough. Except, these two descriptions were the complete opposite. And another thing that she mentions out loud to the others investigating.]
I already know people can go from one place to another with magic. Is there a spell that can do it as quickly as these people are saying though? I thought it needed preparation...

If I wind up a walking corpse, that's fine. Just don't put me in the ground, is all I ask.
[ Half serious, anyways. ]
Let the crows have me, instead.
no subject
This conversation got very grim. Even with Mikasa moping about attacking someone and having to get a bond. So for a moment she just blinks. ]
We normally burn our dead to stop disease...[So plainly. Eileen. She's pulling a slight face there, her eyebrows furrowing.]
The crows?

However, in my culture, burial within the ground is considered blasphemous... a grave, if you'll pardon the pun, disrespect to the parted. [ A small chuckle. Another real one. ]
We believed in sky burials, taking our dead into the high hills, and letting nature reclaim what was once its own. The crows were a symbol of that.
[ She reached for the badge charm that hung from her belt, lifting it up and letting it hang from her gloved hand. ]
That is why my gear looks as it does. A sacred symbol of death, come to take home the children of nature...

The fae's head tilted, turning to look and watch the charm dangle from her hand. It didn't get a smile, the conversation was too grim for that, but she does snort.]
We had the wings of freedom back home... [But back to crows for now.]
Wouldn't it take a long time for crows to eat a corpse? Surely the other animals would get to it first.
[It was a very grim topic. But she could agree with it. All things died, all things had to eat. Some might find it horrible, but humans would hunt in the forest, taking from it, it only seemed fair that the forest could eat a human in turn.]
no subject
It's symbolic, Mikasa. The actual details of it are of course more complicated. But you seem to understand, either way.
I'm glad... most of my Yharnam comrades never really did.
no subject
Why does that always seem to be an issue? Everyone I've talked to have mentioned something about it...Even this place. It seems better, but then you look closer. [Like how most of those in the outer city were monsters and the only monsters in the aristocratic district were bonded to a witch though.] We're all just another animal in the end.
[All creatures fighting to survive in a world that really wanted them dead. To some extent that might have been a reason. If it weren't for the moments where people fought when there wasn't a threat.]
