Man I swore I replied to this...
She hasn't pried too deeply into it as of yet. She might not get the chance.]
But I also need no medical remedies at the moment. I'm quite hale, as we speak. [Call her back in like two weeks after the memshare thing. A hangover counts as a headache, right?] Perhaps you could figure it out in time, though.
no worries!
Perhaps a precautionary tea is in order, ma'am, with allergy season upon us. [ But she cants she head, looking as if she's quite alright with the expected refusal of that, too. ]
In my homeland, it was a specialized craft, this use of such herbs. I find myself still driven to understand how they can be used to augment abilities, stave off illnesses and the occasional difficulties in growing them. I confess my curiosity often gets the best of me among the greenery, though you are quite right. Might I ask if you find yourself drawn to such work, yourself? [ She is, admittedly, just curious if she has a desire for work, or a desire to be among plants. Both are fair paths to take, but they say a lot about a person. ]

Then you'll be taking alchemy classes? It is a field I find myself lacking in, but likely the best route for utilizing plants. [She picks up one of the small plants, cradling it surprisingly gently for such a huge, powerful looking woman.] ... But growing them is something I do on the regular. My specialty is more in flowers than herbs, as it is, but I am expanding. [And she might also have some hallucinogenic roses that count for both!]

Would you, perchance, be a vampire?
[ They do have a habit of looking the same, and her own bonded wandered where he pleased. Sunlight was... a mere hurdle, it seemed. ] Though I have not heard of such things, it would not surprise me if they did not contract any sort of allergies...
Flowers themselves can tend to have such affects. Why, [ Zelda pauses to smile, and fluffs up the pile she has created. ] A bit of a silent princess in your tincture and you'll walk lighter than ever. Still a flower, of course, but the medicinal affects of it, how it augments one's body, would mimic an herb.

Also, she hates Vilebloods, and is only moderately not okay with vampires; in fact, she likes them more than a lot of other Monster types here, and that's saying something. So. Progress?]
Oh yes. I'm already in the process of distilling some roses that are native to Dorchacht. Their oils can produce a hallucinogenic effect. Growing magical flowers is a bit different than normal ones, but it's one of my next steps for my garden. Still... I'm working on my other areas of magical study before I get into alchemy. It's on my list for later.

The thing is, academic studies are Zelda's favorite thing to talk about. She's all together pleased as punch to keep that as the topic. ]
It sounds as if you are planning it quite meticulously. I have never heard of such flowers, though perhaps they would be useful in combat. [ Pausing, she pinches her chin between her thumb and index finger. ] An overnight soak in water would infuse them with such a quality. It would be an easier way to overtake an enemy in a fight. Perhaps avoid it all together.
[ Of course, she imagines people might just want to smoke it. Not her style, personally! ]

[So, hallucinogenic vampire roses. And this is why Maria is growing them.] But the extract could have a few interesting uses. However, for all of that, I had a different project in mind.
[She gets to work on another plant - it's a transplant, and she's very careful about making sure the new, bigger pot has the right soil, and balance, as she speaks, before she starts eyeing what she is transplanting.] ... I was going to see about distilling it into a gin.

Such a drink would surely be even more potent than the green fairy, miss. Were you thinking to bottle and sell it?
[ It probably would sell. ]

[Though, truth be told, she does have a place she could sell it to that would make her some extra pocket change on the side, and would be appreciated - Diplomatea. No use talking about potentials when nothing is set in stone. She raises an eyebrow.] Besides, gin is much more palatable and mixable than absinthe. Much of the effect could be retained without the taste being overpowering.
[Not that she hasn't had absinthe, but it is definitely not her favorite thing in the world.]

Have you managed to get something drinkable from it yet? Rosewater in itself is something you can consume, of course, but I imagine you would like to control the alcoholic content a bit more.

[To the other point, though, she shakes her head.] No, still growing the flowers. I'm trying to get them to a consumable level - I discovered them when winter was settling in, so it's been slow going. By this summer I'm hoping to start really digging into it.
