IZUKU MIDORIYA QUESTLOG: Open.

I. RUNE(TCH A SKETCH)

[ Honestly, Izuku just keeps picking jobs that will allow him to get some magical hands-on training...and runes? Runes are so far his favorite thing, ever. He's not so great at making things (although he can design things, somewhat) but adding runes to already made things is like...well, it's almost easy. He's always been good at memorization, and he carries a pen with him everywhere anyway...

It's just a matter of creatively applying runes to things now, right? He has the steady hands and teh ability to draw straight lines, and he can throw spells into scrolls as long as he's taught the spells to load up. He does his work cheerfully and without complaint, and then...

Well. He makes enough money to buy a small mountian of (to put it nicely) absolute junk. Old bracelets, rusted rings, scraps of nails and really ugly brooches...just things that could be held or kept close, along with borrowed work tools to actually etch runes in place...He sets up outside the house that he shares with several others, legs crossed as he sits out on the porch in easy view of the street, fingers flickering with green light as he works, squinting at the latest piece of Absolute Garbage to get his magic touch...

He's easily interrupted if you're curious, or maybe he looks up and waves you over? ]

II. POTENT POTIONS

[ Being drawn into festival preparations was kind of inevitable. Izuku is bad at saying no to requests to help and furthermore he likes to help with set up...and given his new apothecary in progress training, helping to make potions seems like an easy one!

Unfortunately, luck is just like...rarely on his side. It's his job as a manga protagonist to run into improbable mishaps every so often, and in this case it happens to be spilling some of the potions he's just finished and is delivering to the appropriate booth on you. Maybe you took a corner faster than you should have? Or he got knocked into from behind and then into you...

Either way, these are love potions. So, depending on how much or how many you got on you, your character may or may not fall in love with anyone in the vicinity, including but certainly not limited to Izuku - or maybe it's just warm fuzzy friendship feelings for a few drops? ]

Oh no. [ EITHER WAY THERE GOES SEVERAL HOURS OF WORK...he looks crestfallen. ]

III. MIRROR, MIRROR

[ He's also experimenting with mirror magic, for some reason. Find Izuku in the residential quarters (still in the garden outside his house, or on the porch) playing with some hand mirrors, trying different incantations and sort of peering into them.

He frowns every so often, so whatever he's trying to do maybe isn't going too well? ]

[ I'm open to any quests this month, and will also write unique starters for other quests or specific people if asked! I'll probably throw any other threads I need to do on this post as well. ]

[ Oliver had taken up this job as well, and worked alongside Izuku in etching runes. Skilled hands and skilled eyes made the work go fast, and well, and he was glad to work with someone else who was good at it too. it made dealing with the other things going on a lot easier.

He was already showing signs of his change, extra fur appearing on his arms and neck, nails elongating as the first sign that they would become claws, and his body shifting to a more ursine nature.

As they finished another round of runes and the end of work shift came up, he nodded to the younger man. ]

You did a good job. I wish I learned as fast.

Oh! Thank you...honestly, it's just, you know, a lot of practice?

[ Well, and talent in memorization... ]

I've always been quick at memorizing kanji and stuff, too.

[ Oliver had had to work hard to learn that, but he is glad, now. Maybe it will be another connection in this world. ]

I like the rune making and carving though. Even not being a witch, it is good, and I love working with my hands.

[ Monster you are...

Is that impolite to ask? Izuku suddenly looks a little flustered. ]

I am not. I am a turnskin, apparently. Which... is something like a lycanthrope, if they have those where you come from...

[ Oliver was doing all the research he could. He needed to know.

He smiled wryly and stripped off the glove he used to work from one hand, and revealed that it was growing a light covering of brown fur, and that the nails were a little longer, the hands a little more distorted toward s claw shape. ]

From what has been happening, the changes so far., I think it will be a bear type being.

Er...we have, like, people with "quirks" - that is, superpowers. So I know some people with dog-like quirks...

[ But nothing like actual werewolves? ]

But it's not really the same thing as a werewolf. I mean, we have fiction of those?

I understand.

Its something called a turnskin. So its different anyway. But I am still learning.

My friend Kacchan is a turnskin too, actually. More...er...dog-ish?

[ He...thinks. There haven't been that many changes yet. ]

[ Oliver nods. ]

Apparently the change can be to almost any kind of predatory mammal animal.

Are they all predatory, then? No, er...rabbits?

I mean... I don't think so, but... I may be wrong? Now that I think about it, I'm not sure.

[ He chuckles. ]

I'll ask in the next class.

I'm wondering if I might be able to sit in on those...I mean, I'm not, er, changing, but...I'd like to be able to help my housemates who are.

[ Specifically the one who won't GO to those classes. ]

I don't see why not? At the least you could ask them. The worst they can say is no, and then you can go look the information up, maybe.

I think I'll definitely try that...by the way, do you mind if I ask what drew you to this particular job?

[ Like, Izuku did it to learn more magic, but. ]

I am very good with my hands, and I used to carve symbols and letters on stone back home, as well as making my own arrows, so I decided why not do a job that I can lend some skill too.

Also, it lets me learn what all these runes mean, and have an idea what is going on when I see them.

Your own arrows? You do archery?

[ Is he from like the medeival ages or. ]

I do. Its a skill I picked up back home, and it comes in handy here, in this world where food is hunted down, rather than processed in factories.

[ He nods. ]

Maybe I should try to learn...but, um, I'm not sure I could handle skinning an animal or anything like that...

[ He might cry. ]

Its not fr everyone, but it is a useful skill to have, just in case. I could take you out, help you train up to try, if you want.

[ It would be good for Oliver to have something else to do as well. ]

[defendure]

Well - [ Hm. ] Okay. If magic goes down ever, it'd be good to have another sort of skill in reserve...

[ And he doesn't have his quirk, SO. ]

[ Oliver nods. ]

We can meet sometime when we are not working, and go from there. Wear good shoes.

[ He grins a little. ]

You'll need them.

Um...do sneakers count as good shoes?

[ He loves his dumb red sneakers ok ]

They'll do for now, but soon, you should get some boots.

[ He tapped his own new boots, which were a green color, much like most of his clothing. ]

I can get them later today, then! I've saved up enough for that much, I think...

[ He works a lot. ]
