What: Lance invites Bernie over and lets her bring over her two cool roommates.

[ it started out as a simple hang out with bernadetta. lance and bernie had gotten into the swing of going on friend-dates (which were often misinterpreted as being actual dates), and this was just going to be another one of those in which bernie was going to teach lance how to draw. that quickly changed, though, when lance remembered that felix and sylvain were her roommates, and look. they're cool dudes, okay. the friend-date turned into a mini party and lance actually had to prepare some food for everyone to dig into. gotta be a good host, after all!

he'd given the rest of the house a voltron head's up and sent them invites as well, and now, they're here in the lounging area of the mansion. well, supposedly. it's possible that cryptids like keith are coming in and out of the house, who heckin' knows. ]

[Allura’s smile doesn’t waver while Bernie takes her first sip, although any grimacing going on will get a sympathetic look.]

It can be quite bracing.

[It’s not strong but somehow the weakness of its flavor makes it that much more disgusting. Like a pot of leftover hotdog water or a jar of leftover pickle juice.

She beams.]

Lance won’t touch it – I don’t think he likes it very much. [Said with just a touch of disappointment.] But I’m glad that you tried it!

Oh no. I'm sorry. It's...really different. But I'll finish it!

[She smiles and has another sip. A giggle follows after.]

It gets better when you have more!

[Actually that's just it hitting her poor Fae senses but she doesn't know that yet.]

[She seems surprised, but smiles at that.]

Oh, I suppose it can grow on you!

[Literally, if you consider the hair tonic portion of it.

She tilts her head at Bernie,]

Are you enjoying yourself here? Lance was very excited to have everyone visit.

I am. Lance is very nice. I'm really glad he wants to be my friend.

[It's a big deal for her considering she's been denied friendship for most of her life.]

All of you are so nice.

[She might also be a little extra happy because tipsy but that's not the point.]

He's a very good person, you cannot ask for much better friends.

[Ah. Don't let Lance hear her talk like that about him.]

Keith too. He's a little harder to get to know, but he means well.

You should tell me more about your friends from your world. I've met Sylvain but I haven't yet had a chance to say hello to the other - Is Felix his name?

Felix is really serious about training! And swords. So he kind of...growls like a scary animal but he's really fluffy when you get to know him.

[That probably makes no sense at all but Bernie doesn't seem to have noticed.]

[Allura can’t help a small giggle at that description, and she covers her mouth with her hand to hide the grin. She’s not even inebriated, but the description was very cute.]

That sounds a little like Keith, but do not call him a fluffy animal. I don’t think he would like it.

[Bernadetta gasps, eyes wide as she stares at Allura.]

That sounds like Felix! He's a fluffy animal but he doesn't like you calling him that at all!

[She smiles. It's been a long time since she's had a proper girl friend to chatter with like this.]

Then we shall keep it between us. Except - [Oh right, she grimaces,] Keith is my bonded. Do you think he heard us?

I don't think so? At least Sylvain doesn't tell me if he hears things I say. He just...feels what I feel?

[She looks down, smiling sadly at her drink.]

I must be a lot for him.

[quintessent]

[She right but she still can’t help but feel a little paranoid. Given, all of her emotions are very strongly tied to everything she does so it’s not unreasonable to feel like he’s reading her mind sometimes.

What Bernie says next pulls her out of her thoughs and she frowns, tilting her head,]

Why do you think that. I think you would make a lovely bondmate.

I'm a mess. Lots of things scare me. Or I jump to conclusions. Or I get too emotional. It must be so hard to deal with me.

[She feels bad about it. She really does. Bernie looks down at her drink, pondering having another sip. Two made her feel really light. Maybe another will make this awful feeling go away.]

[quintessent]

[There's a long pause as Allura thinks,]

I think that's just what it means to be Altean. [Ah,] A human. I mean.

[She smiles sheepishly, then continues softly,] Both Keith and I have a lot of emotions to sort through. It's... jarring. And we tend to bicker a lot, so I'm unsure how this will work for us. But he wouldn't be my bonded if he didn't want to.

And the same goes for Sylvain.

Really?

[It doesn't seem like it would be true. But there's no way Allura would lie to her. Because she's so nice and beautiful and kind and...

She's blushing a bit. Some of it is definitely the two damn sips of the drink.]

You think he really doesn't mind?
