I. Welcome! ♥

On Feoveuer 14th regulars of DiplomaTea will immediately notice that the place looks different. Fresh flowers, garlands and paper decorations are everywhere, all in lovely shades of pink and red. Heart-shaped confetti is falling from the ceiling, magicked to disappear shortly after touching the floor so it would not make a mess. Quiet music is filling the whole cafe, one of the many masterpieces of Amadeus Mozart and a particual favorite of Marie who picked this particular song to play. Even those who have missed Marie's flyers and announcements about the upcoming event would definitely notice that something joyous is going on inside, why not check it out and join everyone?

If you haven't heard before, the posters will explain everything. Today's event, The Festival of Love celebrates the holiday known as Valentine's Day some Mirrorbound might be familiar with. This is the day to celebrate love in all shapes and forms. Spend a wonderful, romantic evening with your partner... or your friends and family, because these kinds of love are important too! Or get some sweets and eat them all by yourself, because self love is also important! All money collected during today's event will go to aid the refugees and help those who have been affected during last month - celebration of love for your fellow woman, man and everyone else.

a. Preparations ♥

Of course an event this big cannot happen without the help of many. Making and putting up the decorations, enchanting the confetti and music, building the booths, preparing the tables, all of this and much more took almost the whole previous day. Everett will also defintely need part-timers to help tending to the increased number of custoers during the event. If you visited DiplomaTea during that time, you probably couldn't enjoy your drink in peace... or maybe you were roped into helping? Marie gives you a pleading look. Every pair of hands is useful, you know!

II. The Festival of Love ♥

Kissing Booths ♥

Two hastily made but lovingly decorated wooden booths have been placed on DiplomaTea porch. For supporting the cause with a small fee of 100 cunes the person inside will gladly give you a lovely kiss... though you are, of course, welcome to throw an even bigger amount into the donation box! The Mirrorbound staff the booths in shifts so nobody will be forced to sit out the whole event and more volunteers are always welcome... come on, don't you want to support the charitable cause? Marie is quite persuasive, she might find a way to convince you even if it's not something you would have usually agreed to ♥ Or maybe your crush is currently in the booth and this is your big chance? Either way, thank you for your support, good people!

Bake Sale ♥

Are you skilled with the cooking appliances? Would you like these skills to serve a good cause? The tables just next to the main entrance of DiplomaTea have been filled with cakes, pastries and other kinds of sweets donated by Mirrorbound - help yourself to some! You have to pay for it, of course, but all the money collected helps the charitable cause! For those who are not fond of sweet things, savory and spicy snacks are also found on the table.

Did you bring a dish? Would you like to buy something? Or maybe you are just staffing the tables and helping with the bake sale itself? All kinds of help are appreciated! Are you culinarily challenged but refuse to admit it? Thank you for your donation anyway, it is going on sale! Did anyone see the Fae who donated these cupcakes? These appear to be enchanted and eating one will cause you to say the opposite what you mean for fifteen minutes. What do you mean, Marie, we are putting these on sale as well? Could it be... that Fae was... No, impossible!

• a suit set and a dress that will both transform magically to fit whatever Monster form the wearer has (and will also take on the wearer's color and design preferences)
• a book on imbuing baked goods with minor luck spells - good and bad both.

Be sure to communicate it well, you would not want to end up with an enchanted painting that gives a different effect you originally wanted... though even if you do, the magic will only work for a few hours. You can wait that long, can you?

Magic Show ♥

Trucy Wright, one of the recent arrivals to Aefenglom is on stage and about to perform her splendid magic show! Huh, that's nothing special in Aefenglom, you might think. Magic is an everyday thing for every Witch after all. However, this young lady here is not a Witch, so how does she do it? With totally real magic, of course! Get your seats and pay close attention to everything she does, but you are not very likely to notice anything - this girl is a professional, after all. In using real magic, of course! Or maybe you have similar skills? You are welcome to join her on stage and perform your own well-practiced trick. If it's not as well-practiced as you thought... well, at least you made the audience laugh? In need of a charming assistant? Just pick someone more or less willing from the audience!

III. Cleanup ♥

Tired after a busy day? Congratulate yourself on a job well done, we managed to collect a nice sum that will certainly help a lot! But before you can rest in your bed, there's more to be done. Taking off decorations, removing the confetti enchantments, washing the dishes, collecting the trash and cleaning the whole place. We cannot leave Everett alone with this mess after he was so nice to allow the usage of DiplomaTea for today's event, can we? You can stay and help, can you? Maybe there are some leftowers from the bake sale to sweeten the deal?

[For a good cause, Towa was happy to give whatever assistance she was able to. What she hadn’t expected was this. The holiday is still rather new to her— cute, but very different. She can’t say she minds sharing a little affection. This may be just the change in spirit the city needs.

Although she’s not sure her participation will be of any great help, she wants to do what she can anyway. So should you wish, you can pay for a kiss from the adorable, short witch at one of the counters.]

[this isn't his scene, that much is clear from someone who'd wear black and gray to a Valentine's celebration. still, Dantes walks through DiplomaTea with purpose, and at the least intends on participating in a minor fashion if not at the kissing booths. he might be eyeing the offerings at the bake sale with a critical eye, focused primarily on the savory side of things while he weighs what's important. alternately, he puts down a quiet bet on the auction for the suit set - someone may outbid him, of course, but if he drives the price up higher, then it will do well.

of course, he's the sort that takes to the tea blend of Adric's Warmth over the cocoa - and though he's sitting alone, there are two cups at the table. surely, he can't be intending to drink both of those. surely, he absolutely is intending to ascend to the next astral plane and do so. and if the festivities get to be too much, you may find him at times chilling out outside in the porch area taking a breather. some of the confetti is sticking in his hair. it's really quite pervasive a thing.]

[Valentine's Day is something Momo typically spends with his partner one way or another, so a celebration isn't really helping his homesickness on that front. However, there's a great (as far as he's concerned) way to distract himself sitting right here, and that's herding the hesitant and the shy who look like they might be considering it into the kissing booths for other people to deal with.

His approach depends on the person - people who look cagey or particularly shy might just get him sliding up next to them dramatically, while people who look like they won't react too badly to being touched might just get him gently pointing them towards the booth by the shoulders, one arm lingering at their back to make escape slightly more awkward.]

Well, don't just stand there thinking about it all day, or you'll miss your chance! Don't those people look like they're just waiting for you~?

[He probably doesn't even know the staff in the booths right now, honestly, but he does know how to sell an experience.]

[On the topic of making things sound more appealing, it doesn't take long after deciding to help the bake sale for Momo to figure out that there's enchanted cupcakes in the mix of goodies on the table. He's put his pranking habits away for the most part since he got here, but this is too good an opportunity to pass up, and so anyone who approaches the bake sale table while he's on it will have their attention directed to that particular batch. After he's given a wink and blown a kiss in greeting, of course - it's been his job for the last five years to make everyone feel special, no matter who they happen to be.]

What kind of sweets do you prefer? If you're undecided, I know these ones have been popular today. [He pushes forward the plate with the innocuous-looking enchanted cupcakes on it, red nails lingering on the edge of the plate as if to draw further attention to it.]

[Considering the lengths Momo has to go to to stay awake with his schedule back home sometimes, he can't help but be curious at the bold caffeine claims made by this firecracker tea, mostly because they're a rare example of claims bolder than the kinds of things that end up on energy drinks in his world. (Look, it was warm and he was determined to work through it on his own, or at least try. It's still three-quarters full.) It's not like the faun was going to hurry elsewhere, though, that's for sure.

But okay, his attention's on the cupcake, though it trails to the nails and there's a quirk of a smile that settles. ]

[ Judar's not familiar with the cupcake's secrets, and could still be convinced. It's still an opportunity to target people back. Look at how his eyes match those red nails. ]

[Hakuno has a shiny banner in her hands, and looks fairly put out. She's at the top of a step ladder, but as it stands the added height isn't quite enough to get her high enough to hook it up.

She heaves a sigh. The small wings on her back, no wider than her ribcage, give a sulky flutter.]

Being able to fly would be pretty handy right about now...

[There's so much to see. It's far from the biggest place she's ever been to, certainly, but it's a bustling, busy space wherever she turns. There's a mug of cinnamon cocoa in her hand and a bid with her name on it waiting on the luck spell cook book, and she...

Well, she's inwardly debating how much more she's going to patronize, before she makes another turn towards the bake sale area.

By luck, she drifts to a stop in front of one of the kissing booths, and tries not to get flustered when she makes eye contact with its current worker.]

ii. b for bake sale

Ah, are we out of those cookies already? The ones with the cinnamon on them.

[If there's one thing that Hakuno Kishinami is good at, it's running around up to her neck in busy work. She tied her hand at making some of the treats, with careful instruction, but now goes to and fro making sure the sale stalls are properly stocked. With an apron tossed over her outfit for the festival, she more or less blends into the crowd until she speaks up.]

[Hector is not the most observant when it comes to social affairs, and he still uses his watch mainly to take pictures of his dog, not to read messages. So he wanders in to the tea shop not expecting a big event.

Before he can sneak away, he finds himself being press ganged into service. It doesn't occur to him to say no to a direct order to help, so here he is, hanging up paper heart decorations.]

How is this a heart? It looks nothing like one.

[He's grumbling, but still doing the job, so it's probably fine?]

Kissing Booth

[This is a job much better suited to Cezar the pug than Hector the faun-in-progress. But Cezar isn't here, and Hector is, and Marie was someone incredibly convincing when this shift started.

It absolutely has nothing to do with the fact that since the full moon, he's started noticing how people look in a way that he had previously ignored. Maybe a kiss or two wouldn't go amiss.

So he's here, trying not to eye the door too obviously.]

Come support...the needy? [Who are they raising money for? Hector hasn't been here long and is so out of the loop. Victims of a recent tragedy or something? Probably.]

Clean-Up

[Once the crowds have left and DiplomaTea is quieter, Hector is actually much more relaxed. He claims a cup of the slightly cooled tea and some leftover slivers of baked goods to sample, though he hops up from his chair as another helper goes by with scraps for the garbage.]

Wait, don't throw those out. I'll take them.

[He's got mouths to feed at home, and none of them are picky.]

[ Yes, he has to repeat that while getting closer. Is he on crutches for something that happened recently, or is he someone that just got hoofed legs? It's hard to tell, though he certainly looks pretty okay otherwise. The winter coat's looking healthy for the faun, and by this point you couldn't tell that his hands were mangled just a few weeks ago. ]

If you can say who 'the needy' are, and get it right, I'll put more in. Get it wrong... You pay for the kiss.

0. A Note For CR

[Leslie's discovery of the meaning of Valentine's Day (note: she thinks it's entirely about giving chocolates to friends) did not result in any chocolates that she thinks are usable, since Leslie's complete lack of experience in the kitchen was a bit of a high hurdle for Akko's lessons. Initially, she moped and gave up on the idea, but then she remembered she lives with Bernadetta. Who can cook.

As such, if you have had an even vaguely positive thread with Leslie, including in the dream, she will give you a double-chocolate muffin if she sees you during the day, either at DiplomaTea or around the Haven when she is advertising the Festival of Love. She will be carrying them around in a bag with a strap over her shoulder.

Most people will get one muffin, but a subset will get two or three in a little bag:

Akko (for letting her know about Valentine's Day and trying to teach her about making food), Bernadetta (for actually teaching her how to bake), Edelgard (for taking her into her house), Hubert (because she'd feel bad if he was the only member of the household who only got one muffin), Nana (because Leslie wants to make a friend her own age and also she's not 100% sure if Nana has a proper food supply??), Hakuno and Lorenz (for being so explicit about becoming her friend that even Leslie couldn't mistake it as someone being kind), and literally anyone who looks sad that they didn't get two (though since it will be unplanned, it will not be in a bag).

Honestly just in general it will be easy to make Leslie give in and give people a muffin unless someone points out that this is kind of undercutting the Bake Sale.]

I. Welcome

[Leslie discovered about the upcoming Festival of Love when visiting DiplomaTea earlier in the week and offered to help Everett in a similar way to when she stumbled on the speed-dating event, but this time, she knows in time to join in on the preparations. Her short stature and basically complete lack of strength means she has a lot of limitations in what she can do to help. But by george does she try.

At some point, an embarrassed Leslie calls to a passerby:] Um, could you help me with this?

[Leslie picked up some of the paper decorations and tried to put them up by standing on a chair, but even then she juuuust can't reach. There are a couple of boxes nearby that she might have brought with the intention of making a big pile of boxes on top of the chair to climb up high enough, but she fortunately had enough sense to not make that dangerous tower.]

II. Festival of Love

a. Flower Power

[As during Faiolleach, Leslie can be found out around the Haven with a basket of flowers from DiplomaTea to advertise the festival. She will be approaching people she finds in the general area.]

DiplomaTea is now hosting the Festival of Love! They have a bake sale with delicious treats, an auction of magical devices, Inkchanted tattoos, a magic show, and a...kissing booth? [She doesn't really know any details about the last one. She will offer the person she is advertising to one of Everett's garden's flowers.] All of the money raised in the event will go to helping the refugees and others in need. Please come to take a look!

[She may make a some slightly wider loops looking for people she knows to give muffins to in case they don't come to DiplomaTea, as mentioned in Part 0.]

b. Bake Sale

[Leslie has been part-timing at Inkspell and is putting her pocket change to good use buying some sweets. Sure, she can get sweets in many places, but this is for a good cause.

Unfortunately, one of the sweets that catches her eye is a particular kind of cupcake. You might find her sitting in the café as she eats it. If you approach her, she will look up and say:]

Goodbye.

[And immediately look extremely confused.]

c. A Word From Our Sponsor

[Leslie loves sweets. She never had them before about a month ago, so it's still very fresh and new. Unfortunately, thanks to usually getting sweets portioned out for her by other people, she doesn't know that it's a bad idea to have too many sweets at once. When she gets a hold of an extra large mug of cinnamon cocoa (she loves hot chocolate), depending on when you find her, you may find her in one of two conditions.]

i. Hubris

[You've come across Leslie having just recently obtained her large chocolate delight. This thing is dangerously large for an adult and Leslie has a significantly smaller volume to put this in. It may be best to convince Leslie to share her drink.]

ii. Regret

[You've come across Leslie after she's had just too many sweets -- whether she wasn't stopped from her hot chocolate hubris, or she just managed to collect too many sweets for herself today from the bake sale and well-meaning gifts. At least, you see the mug and some unfinished sweets. It may be harder to see Leslie, who is curled up against the wall, sitting on the floor, as she nurses her first sweets-caused stomachache. At the point, the best you can do is comfort her or give her advice regarding this hard-earned lesson.]

[If no one picks II.c.ii. and at least one person is able to stop her in II.c.i., she may end up avoiding the stomachache...for now.]

III. Cleanup

[Leslie is determined to help clean up. She's learned from setup that she's not going to be able to manage to take down the high decorations, so she has taken a broom and is sweeping up the floors. But it's been a long, busy day for Leslie, who is now definitely finding out yet another effect of sweets: the sugar crash. She is clearly nodding off. She is initially insistent that she is fine to finish up, but she's fading fast.

Anyone who tries to separate her from the broom will get a grumpy:] No, I can do it.

[People who are in the way of her sweeping will get a polite "excuse me," but it will be a challenge to hear it through a big yawn.]

Bake Sale

[Well She didn't make cupcakes, but she did make biscotti- moch, almond, mocha almond, vanilla. Caren set them down carefully, and fussed a little with the plate, before glancing up.]

[She peered at the items. The golden item...ah. that was tempting.]

[The bake sale is what had drawn Emil to this thing in the first place. He'd seen the signs around and it's for a good cause, and his first paycheque from the part-time job is burning a hole in his pocket, so why not go to the tea shop for some treats? He's always been sucker for a good fika, so he figures he'll poke his head in.

A few minutes later and he's settled in at a table with an absolutely massive cup of cinnamon hot chocolate and a huge pile of pastries - he can't believe how cheap it was, he's still adjusting to things like coffee and chocolate and fresh fruit not being exorbitantly expensive in this place compared to home. He hasn't had chocolate in years. Still, there's no way he's going to be able to finish all of this on his own, even he can admit it's way too much food for one person. So he glances up if anyone is giving his little table the eye, and waves a hand.]

Hey, you want to share? I think I bought way too much.

☆ Kissing Booth

[He'd come for the bake sale, but eventually ended up getting talked into manning one of the kissing booths for a bit - he's not sure how, exactly, or if anyone's going to actually pay money to kiss him, but he's going to give it an effort anyway. At least a bit of an effort.

Leaning forward on one elbow, he offers a lazy smile to whoever happens to be walking by, speaking in a pleasantly lilting Swedish accent and waving a hand.]

Hey there, want to donate? It's for a good cause and junk. I'll even kiss you if you want.

[OOC: Emil will be willing to kiss anyone, regardless of gender or monster transformation status, though it may take some working up because he's real socially inept.]

☆ Organizing & Cleaning up

[Somehow, after being dragged into the kissing booth thing and with his belly full of delicious pastries and hot chocolate, he finds himself being swept up in all the organization for the auction, moving chairs and setting things up and doing general heavy lifting. None of the items in the auction particularly interested him, but he ends up leaning against a wall with his arms crossed just watching proceedings.

And once the whole thing is over, he helps clean up. After all, he hasn't really got anything better to do, and there are leftover treats to entice him. He really can't turn down a good fika. Really.

Feel free to help him out with lifting things, sweeping, and other general tidying up!]

But she just has to stop and pause to stare when she sees Emil stood in one of the booths. That sure is an intro. But she wasn't great with words.

[i. Kissing Booth]
[It's an... interesting concept. Manning a booth to kiss people for charity donations. Hiccup had no idea what Valentine's Day was before all of this (it's not at all similar to Freyasday), but he can't help but think it's charming right now.

He goes through the line a couple of times, but if the person manning the kissing booth isn't someone he knows well, he refuses the kiss, and just drops 500 cunes into the box with a smile and a handshake instead. It's for charity, after all! He's here for another reason primarily, but he's not going to not participate.] I'm, uh, I'm with someone, so no kiss necessary. I'm just happy to make a donation.

[ii. Auction]
[Hiccup's not buying anything here. In fact, he's got a couple of donations to make to the auction - a finely-wrought dagger with a curving dragon carved into the shiny handle and runes etched into the metal of the blade. The enchantment will heat the blade up to red-hot temperatures when activated, enabling it to slice through or cauterize most anything, but the handle will always remain cool to the touch. Aficionados will note that the metal is lighter and stronger than most weapons made in Aefenglom; it's the result of some of his alchemy experiments, synthetic Gronckle iron.

The other donation is a slim sword whose blade retracts into the hilt when not in use, made of the same light, strong metal as the dagger. Both items are stamped subtly with Hiccup's crest, his maker's mark, and are up for sale to the highest bidder. That could be you!

You might catch him setting them out with the other auction items, and if you show any interest, he's happy to explain what they are.] The dagger is enchanted, the sword is retractable. They're easy to take with you if you ever leave the city walls.

[Someone immediately shut down the idea of running a kissing booth but she was interested in the bake sale part. After all, she had just made a ton of chocolate treats for those she knows and the treats she had an idea on were pretty easy for her to make. Easy but still held care. Lady, do you ever rest? And the answer would be 90% no. So dressed in something a bit more festive, Mira comes with a couple baked goods with one from her homeland of Ishgard: the Sohm Al Tart. There's also some sesame cookies beside the tarts, both on proud display as she smiles at any customers that come by.]

[Oh, those are definitely interesting items. Thancred gives them a very considering look, ears twitching, tail feathers rising a little.]

Those have certainly had a good amount of work put into them, I should think…. I imagine it'll be quite the competition.

[ It is a really big serving for one drink, isn't it? Vanitas had been laughing at some people earlier who had been struggling with it. Naturally, Van is determined to be able to finish it by himself. ...Maybe.

He's actually off trying to isolate himself, kind of glaring at the mug. Van had gotten it, yes, but he doesn't know if he will actually like it. ]

They're really trying to push this "togetherness" thing.

[ The promise of leftover pastries is actually appealing - as long as it's not more enchanted cupcakes. It might actually surprise people to see Vanitas still lingering, considering he's rather vocal about not being he sort that desires friends. Or acts like he wants anything to do with anyone.

However, he doesn't appreciate messes either, unless he has caused them for some purpose. So yes, Van can be seen throwing away stuff or even gasp sweeping. ]

[Of course Momiji--never one to let a sense of shame get in the way of his own amusement--has volunteered for a shift at one of the Festival's kissing booths.

He's set up early on in the day, while the crowd is still getting into the festive mood and shaking off any wallflower jitters. It's a good slot for him! He sits with his hands folded on the table in front of him and his long rabbit-ears twitching eagerly overhead. Really, what could be more non-threatening? He'll offer an easy way out to anyone looking to just play along and get it over with, cheerfully delivering a peck on the cheek in exchange for your donation.

But, well, he is still a puca, and after he's been required to sit still for over half an hour one must expect at least some degree of mischief.]

Mm, are you waiting to kiss somebody else? [He'll oh-so-innocently ask anyone who seems to be observing the festivities from a distance.] Who are you looking for, maybe I can find them for you!

[Alternatively, whenever business dwindles, he might just try to flag down any passers-by to plead for them to bring him a cocoa or a sweet from the baked goods tray, while he's stuck on-duty! Anyone foolish enough to oblige (and not visibly likely to murder him) will get a very gracious smile when they return--and then, before they can escape, a sudden and eager smooch on the lips.]

II. Ardric's Bad Life Choices / Clean-up

[Someone has made a grave mistake. Maybe it was an innocent error or, equally likely, a mild prank by some other festival volunteer, in revenge for earlier shenanigans. But, shortly after he finishes his shift at the booths, he stops to get a refreshing drink, takes a big, excitable swig without looking at what he's been handed...and practically breathes fire as Everett's tea lays waste to his tongue and sinuses.

One big gulp is enough to have an effect when you're already fun-sized, apparently. Because, come the end of the day, he's still, well--vibrating. When he stops long enough for anyone to notice, at least, which is not often! The rest of the time, he can be found eagerly popping in between helping with every chore left to be done in the shop.

Almost literally: One minute he's helping sweep up confetti, and the next he's back in the kitchen trying to butt in to help dry dishes--and then, just as suddenly, he can be found pulling down streamers hung high on the ceiling, a newly-sprouted pair of Cupid's wings fluttering hummingbird-like behind him. Absolutely none of these things are getting done. But at least he's burning off the energy, somehow?

The crash after this will not be pretty.]

[ At first Asahi is wondering she's she suddenly feeling so restless. Almost weirdly energized, except she doesn't feel like she has tons of energy either? It feels weirdly distant, like it's coming outside from her body, and after a few moments she seems to realise that oh god, that must be Momiji. And while it's natural to feel a lot of energy radiating from him, this feels like a little bit too much. It's almost unnatural.

So she immediately starts wandering around the festival in search of the boy. It should be made easier by her being able to sense him, but with how much he's moving all over the place, it's really hard to keep up with his exact position.

It feels like a huge relief when she finally manages to spot him sweeping up some confetti. Asahi just wraps her arms around his shoulders from behind, resting her head by putting her forehead down on his shoulder, and letting out such a deep breath. She almost seems out of breath, really. ]

[Lorenz was nothing if not a gentleman who, even a week out from a difficult night with the full moons, found that he couldn't quite refuse Marie her request on a holiday that was both utterly charming and wholly unfamiliar to him. Valentine's day brought to mind the sweet nothings of courtship-- and also called up memories of a dear friend of his who would have adored sharing her name with a holiday of this nature. Although he was still adjusting to recent changes that the Moons had brought to him, he was still dressed in holiday finery-- a waistcoat with delicate embroidery and deep red roses entertwined through out the branches of his antlers. Conspicuously added were a pair of ornamental shades and a discrete cane which he kept out of sight.

The hooves were taking some adjusting to. He also didn't wish to scare off potential donors.

Sitting next to him in a little box of it's own was a small black cat with green eyes with a delicately written paper sign hanging from it's neck by a ribbon. '1 snack = 1 kiss' the sign read.

Lorenz smiled gamely at anyone who passed by.]

Bake Sale

[Grateful to be granted a break from the kissing booths, Lorenz wandered over to the tables that were lined with sundry items, from crisp and sweet cookies to decadent cupcakes, with the intent to buy. Little Claude sitting on his shoulder, happily distracted by the flowers at his crown and safely leashed to Lorenz's wrist should he try to escape. He didn't wander steadily, nor did he wander for long-- but stretching his legs and saying his hellos to the many people within DiplomaTea were well worth any effort.

He primarily sought for pet-safe snacks, but any sweet would do. With his thoughts straying to friends not in Aefenglom, he found himself wanting to eat some sweets for their sake.

It was a holiday they would all have enjoyed.]

This wasn't a holiday he knew nor cared about, and while the purpose of seeking donations to help the recently displaced and traumatized was commendable, it was also dull to witness. And definitely not something he'd intended on assisting with. So long as he and his were taken care of, the rest of the city could look out for itself.

But he knew Mira had been preparing for it (with what energy, he did not know), so he thought he might as well look around for a bit, to see what all the fuss was over. To observe, if not participate.

Yet here he was, manning a kissing booth.

He still wasn't entirely clear on how this had happened. Were they that desperate for volunteers? Taken his clear disdain for acceptance? Well, whatever. Apart from being utterly disinterested, it wasn't the worst thing. He was unlikely to be embarrassed by anything or anyone. And no one could complain that he wasn't doing his part to help. Look at him there, helping away.

Not that he makes any effort to appear inviting, interested, or even awake; his eyes are closed, and he's resting his head on one hand. But he's listening.

And when he hears someone take a place opposite him, Emet-Selch doesn't even open his eyes, merely intoning in a bored voice.]

I hope you're donating more than the minimum, I hate to think you'd waste my time with such a paltry offering.

What's there not to like about love and chocolate and roses? Those who hated it were just bitter or irritated with how capitalistic the tradition had become. Could she understand the latter reason? Sure, but everyone's going to try and make a bit of gil one way or another. That's just life. If one wanted to they could put a price on pretty much anything.

Currently Tataru's manning the bake sale part of the festivities, dressed up in an outfit she'd finished the night before. It wasn't exactly identical to the one she'd made while working at The Forgotten Knight but it still had frills in all the right places. There was no reason not to be festive, after all.

[Color Henry interested. The sorcerer swoops in on her, not particularly dressed for the occasion: he's wearing his clothes from Plegia, from head to toe, so it's ornate but not necessarily suitable for romantic festivities. His cape billows behind him, and he gives Tataru what's at first a devious smile...

Or was it? Because it seems completely innocent now, sweet and unassuming.]

[There is a list of places that Randy Orlando should never be, and behind a kissing booth is one of them. He’s never met Marie before this event, but she doesn’t need him to ask twice. She doesn’t even need to ask him once. He volunteers.]

[There is a very clumsily drawn sign in front of his booth. The 100 in front of cune has a slash in front of it, and 50 is written above. And manning the booth is the one, the only, macho man Randy Orlando.]

[Once Randy is forcefully ejected finished with his shift in the kissing booth area, he decides to help distribute sweets. It’s for a good cause, of course, and he’s happy to do what he can to help out.]

[Only, something seems to be wrong with the cupcakes, and he doesn’t notice until it’s too late. He does his best to do damage control, approaching anybody with a cupcake in hand.]

Hey, uh, I’m gonna need that back.

[Perhaps you’ve already eaten the cupcake, and want to tell him to shove off. Or perhaps you’ve eaten a cupcake, and want to tell Randy he’s the most beautiful man you’ve ever seen. Everyone needs to hear white lies now and then.]

[Randy may be a Mess, but he’s not a mess, and so he volunteers for cleanup duty, too. He seems genuinely cheerful as he’s sweeping up, and even smiles when he turns to the person next to him and offers them a broom.]

Kiss the Baker

[ Alex was quick to hop on the chance to help out the refugees. It felt good to be able to do something for someone after being helpless in past events. the guilt still weighing on her despite the comfort offered by several people. Good people...

She was also more than happy to put her rekindled love for bread to use. Since coming here, it’s become a habit to stop by the bakery, picking up tips and new ideas to up her baking game from just sweet buns. Her menu for today includes a variety of appropriately themed artisan breads, a mix of savory and sweet.

The kissing booth she was less inclined to participate in…but one look at a face like Marie’s was enough for the merrow to cave. A little bit, anyway, since she decides to put a catch. You could always just buy some bread, or if you wanted to be a little more daring, you could take on the merrow's challenge. ]

All you have to do is close your eyes, eat whatever it is I give you, then guess what the ingredients are. If you can guess them correctly, you can get either a kiss or another bread for free.

[ Her ears flit subtly, with Alex just barely hiding the mischievous tone in her voice. At least if you lost, the price wasn't death by drowning. ]

The price is one order of bread for one kiss or try.

[Ienzo's been feeling out of sorts since his arrival. Mainly because, for the first time in his life, he essentially has nothing to do. (Sure, suddenly growing a small assortment of rabbit features doesn't help the feeling either but, he's trying not to pay those changes anymore attention than he has to.) So when Ienzo hears about another event, particularly one calling for volunteers, he practically jumps at the chance to, well. Do something.

So here he is, volunteering at the bake sale. And he's about to add his own donation to the lines of sweets adorning the displays. He'll be happy to tell you what he's brought to the table, or about any other sweets on offer. Just ask!]

[ Ienzo isn't actually sure how he got here.

He only meant to step outside for a break, for a quick breath of fresh air and to give his new ears (they're feeling kind of sensitive thanks to all the noise) a rest.

Now here he is, in line for a turn in one of the makeshift booths and looking so very confused that it's actually happening. (Marie talked a few circles around him until he inadvertently said yes.) At any rate Ienzo's looking a bit... frozen. The only reason he hasn't fled already. If it isn't obvious by his style of hair, he's actually pretty shy. Plus with the new, scruffy fur growth on his neck (haphazardly covered by his scarf) he's hardly feeling pretty enough for kisses.

His visible eye darts across the passing crowd, seeking anybody who's paying attention.]

Excuse me-would...would you mind swapping out with me? Please.

[ He's sounding a bit stressed, desperate even... ]

[ Ienzo seems pretty tired at this point but, he also doesn't seem keen to stop anytime soon. He is however, struggling to keep his new rabbit ears out of the way. It's a bit of a comical sight really, considering he has a curtain of hair completely covering half his face.

At any rate, he's back near the bake sale tables; sorting the decorations and empty plates for washing between pushing his lop ears back over his shoulders. If you're after your share of leftover cakes perhaps he can give you a hand by pointing you in the right direction. Or perhaps you can give him a hand with the mess he's tackling. Up to you really! ]
