A chocolate surprise

[So it seems for a certain heart filled day, Caren had been working hard. Which meant...if She knew you, it was likely a small package was shoved into your hands.]

A check up

[She could be found around her garden, or at her house, all bundled up, socks on her wings and tails. And she was...a very sleepy looking bean, but in smelling or hearing, she became alert, and glanced over.]

Oh. This is a surprise. What brings you here?

[She had been unsure of coming but...she made a promise. If she didn't come, and she couldn't find anyone to conduct her lessons- or think of it- then she had to do it herself. She had to continue her lessons in Dorchact.

Also, she could reach all of her kitchen things. That made it appealing.

She was more animated here, for all that she was bundled up, and full of gesturing and explaining how to make a particular dish.

She even came around to give samples of biscotti and whatever dish she just taught, with a small smile and nods, offering comments and nods of encouragement.]

[She didn't just work in the former Foggy city though. She still had shifts at Knit Wit, with the alterists. At least it met she had to sit for long periods of time.

But hearing the ringing of the door, she stood up, nodding politely.]

[ Hmph! But it's true enough. Steak doesn't shop a lot, doesn't actually need to eat, and works more than he probably needs to, from hours in DiplomaTea to odd jobs around the city. Money isn't a worry for him. ]

[ Whether an old favourite or a place she's always wanted to go, Steak doesn't mind. ]

I'd like to go to this one place nearby. I've been there before, and you might like it too. It has excellent coffee, and decent selection for meals.

[ He huffs out a laugh. Perhaps so. ]

Coffee sounds good.

[ Ale this early in the morning though... ] Only scoundrels drink during the day.

[She smiled up at him, crooked but. A smile.]

You'd also be surprised. You can add some delightful things to coffee that are alcoholic.

[ Never mind that he doesn't need to, it's enjoyable. ]

[How did she know, she still found the idea that he could cook as bizarre.]

Uh. [ Not a mimosa, no, but what would it be? ] I guess milk would be fine.

[She just. Turns around and starts making muffled noises.

[ It's a perfectly acceptable drink, thank you! ]

You know I don't need to eat or drink, right?

[ He could easily skip any of it if he wanted, but he enjoys it. ]

Yes, but milk? I thought you'd at least go for coffee.

[ Milk was just the first thing to come to mind, really.

Either way, he reaches the cafe door before she does, pushing it open and stepping back to let her through. At least he's managing some manners for this date. ]

[She's still snickering as she walks through the door, and waits for him to join her. He's got more manners then her rn because she's snickering so much.

There's just something funny about how a beefy boy likes to drink milk.]

What do you drink?

[ It's asked in an attempt to stop her snickering while he slides himself into a seat at a table near a window. ]

Coffee, or tea. Mostly coffee in the morning.

[She's still snickering though, even as she sat down beside him, crossing her (cat) feet at the ankle.]

[ Honestly! Better milk than alcohol, okay? ]

What kind of teas?

[ Asked as he glances over one of the menus propped up at the edge of the table. ]

Nothing in particular. Black tea, green tea, herbal...I'm not picky when it comes to it.

[She leaned in, against his arm to peer at his menu.]

I do have catmint tea for sleeping, but I try not to use it too often. Else...I would act rather foolish until I fell asleep.

[ This is his life now, isn't it? Well. He doesn't mind too much. It's a welcome change to the usual "physical contact is only for when Gingerbread or Red Wine are fighting him". ]

I hear Black Tea is a formidable fighter. [ She certainly has a reputation in the Light Kingdom. ]

And how is that different from normal?

[ Acting foolish, anyway. She certainly has pulled some nonsense with him in the time he's known her. But the question is asked with a quirk of the mouth, nothing more than light needling for once. ]

[Who knew that Steak liked physical contact! And here she'd only been trying to annoy him.]

I didn't know there was a food spirit called that.

[Though his question does get a kick from her under the table. But it's at least softened somewhat with her cat foot.]

This time, her foot manages to hit his shin in just the right spot to earn a yelp of surprise and pain. ]

Oi! [ That's very Gingerbread of you, Caren, rough and unladylike. Gosh. But it's hard to take the shout or the glower seriously when he's reacting so dramatically to the whole thing. ]

She just huffs up at him, raising her eyebrows and leaning against him just enough...that he'd feel some soft instead of just a skinny arm.]
