[If anyone knows the residents of the house, it might seem strange that such a group have selected a cozy abode for their home in the city. However, it is not to be said that they are unwelcoming (depending on who) and usually when someone comes to visit, there's always a warm cup of tea ready for them...and maybe some food to go along with it. Feels like a crime if someone doesn't get fed. And despite the hardships of the previous month, the house does welcome guests for any particular reasons whether a visit for the soul, a chat to catch up on events, or even maybe go a few rounds with the poor striking dummy in the backyard.

When you live with sword users and have stress, it gets used, ok?

It might be chilly outside but strange enough, the house itself is pretty warm. Just mind the gaelkitten and Flood running around from time to time.]

[ Oh this is rich. This is just too good. Vanitas' grin is absolutely smug. ]

[Someone heard the door open and comes out from the living area, showing Mira coming up from behind Rose.]

It's alright to let them in, the cold is still a factor. [And seeing who it is-] Oh Rose! 'Tis good to see you feeling a little better!

[All the commotion has the Ascian also wandering in not long after, and though he was tempted to just ignore it all and return to his room, he pauses as he catches sight of Rose. Limping over the rest of the way, he joins Mira and Vanitas in 'greeting' their 'guest.']

Oh...? So what's the occasion this time?

[Rose looks to Vanitas, then Mira, then Emet. The gears turn in her head. This makes sense. This makes too much sense. And yet, she still feels like she’s being pranked.]

[She looks again to Mira, and then Emet. Might as well have fun with this.]

I see you adopted a son.

[darkcharge]

[ You know he had been joking with that 'happy family' comment. Then Mira and Emet-Selch have to show up.

Rose makes that comment and Vanitas? Looks somewhere between confused, horrified, and alarmed. ]

Huh?

[Hold up, what did Rose just say?]

I...beg your pardon?!

[Did she just say 'adopted a son'??? What son?!]

[Though Emet-Selch's first reaction is confusion, his next is to look between Mira and Vanitas, and his expression changes to one of contemplation.]

...You know, I can almost see it.

[Dark hair, yellow eyes, dark-affinity, rude disposition... it fit.]

It’s obvious, isn’t it?

[Obvious that Rose has been angling for payback ever since her and Vanitas’ last ‘conversation.’]

[She points to Mira first.]

He has your hair.

[Then to Emet.]

And your eyes.

[Small pause.]

...As well as your personality.

[ Vanitas is still making a face. Mira's sputtering goes ignored, but Emet-Selch agreeing? Sort of agreeing anyway... Well it puts Vanitas at a loss for words.

Until that last comment. ]

My personality is much better than his.

[Now looking at it...Vanitas and Emet do have some similarities such as eye color and personality but for Mira herself? The thought just drives home that there's something between her and the ascian and it's not just a casual thought. Not with what they did before the kidnappings.

And Vanitas? Just by how much she had shown kindness, to try and let him make choices on his own...that...that is what a parent does wasn't it?

Her face just grows red as she slips her hands over her eyes, wondering how the hells she didn't realize it until now.]

Gods, I did not even realize before-!

[It's Vanitas' comment that gets a dry look.]

That depends on how you define better.

[But yeah he... can't really argue. Or even be particularly offended. If anything, his contemplation just turns to faint amusement, especially with Mira and Vanitas' reactions. It wasn't as though they were a family or anything so- why the response? It was just an odd coincidence, that's all.]

[Rose shakes her head. This family dynamic is...cute, and she isn’t sure how to feel about it. Is Emet corrupting this youth? Is this youth corrupting Emet? It’s difficult to tell.]

[She addresses Vanitas first.]

I beg to differ. Emet may not have much in the way of personality, but he’s at least bearable.

[Right in front of his face, too. It’s technically a compliment?]

[She looks at Mira next.]

I am so, so sorry. Your husband and son are both idiots.

[ Wow. He is feeling so. Attacked. Right now? Vanitas snorts. ]

Wow. No accounting for taste...

H-Husband?!

[ROSE WHAT THE FUCK? Her redness just grows darker because really?! Mira hasn't even thought about that kind of thing and how even-?! Give her a minute because she does not know how to respond.]

[Wow Rose, that's not a compliment at all! Even so, it was still technically a preference over Vanitas' brand of rudeness, so he'll limit himself to throwing a disapproving look in Rose's direction.

The 'husband and son' bit still just strike him as amusing. Was it so odd that people with things in common would live together? They each had their own connection to the dark, they got along fairly well; calling it a family was clearly wrong, but why this sort of reaction? Seriously, are you okay there Mira?

It's enough that he takes a couple steps over to her, peering down at her.]

Keep reacting like that, and I'll start feeling rejected. 'Tis the idea so loathsome?

[Rose merely shrugs. She doesn’t have anything against Mira, she even considers her a friend, but it’s still fun to get such a reaction out of her. As for the other two...well, Emet seemed to be taking the revelation the best.]

Surely, the three of you must have noticed by now. Why is this so surprising?

[ Maybe because this isn't his original look? He doesn't know he. What's there to really notice? Vanitas glances between the two adults and okay. Maybe Rose has a point but... ]

And just what frame of reference are some of us to use? I know I wasn't raised by anyone.

[ And whatever family he might have had while still within Ventus has been long forgotten. ]

[For Mira, it's something different. It may be playful gestures but for her who pretty much given up on the idea of romance back home as well not seeing it for herself...it's daunting. She should be able to brush it off, laugh and that would be that. But why does it bug her? It's not that she feels insulted, not at all. But...]

N-No, not at all! I'm just...not used to it. Never really thought about the idea.

[Have they...acted as such? Truly?]

[Glancing between Mira and Vanitas, the Ascian eventually just shrugs, sighing.]

It's just a coincidence of appearance. And that like people would find sharing a space to be amenable... why is that to be unexpected? We're obviously not any sort of family.
